Chapter 64 Sea Star Tournament Part 1
Ash and the group are six finally arrive at the Sea Star Society's Meeting Spot, and they can see a lot of guests and Sea Stars living there.
Crolea: Well, here we are. Just like Olidroll City, the Sea Star Society has several sections.
Ash: Then this place must be very large. (Looks around) It is amazing as this place is actually underwater, but we can still breathe because of Sea Stars...
Crolea: That's right. We're right in the middle at the Meeting Section. To the west are the Shopping, Food, and Help Sections. To the East are the Community, Battle, and Learning Sections. To the North is Celium Park, and further to the north is the Sea Star Shrine. That's the basic layout of the Sea Star Society, but there are more places you can find too.
Lillie: I can't wait to explore all of them...I mean, every place is very fun to go to. (Pikachu and Snowy nod in agreement)
Crolea: The Pokemon Center is in the Battle Section, but there's a Nurse Joy in every section that will heal your Pokemon too. Oh, and while there's still the Standard Pokemart, some specialty vendors use Heart Scales as currency. You can buy Heart Scales in the Shopping Section, but here's one to get everybody started.
Then Crolea gives everyone a Heart Scale, and they thank her as they put the Heart Scale away.
Crolea: Those are the basics. So why don't we all go explore and then meet up back here at Celium Park when we're ready?
Emily: That sounds good to me! I remember Carol saying that some of the simulations managed to make it down here. I want to see if I can find info on that at the Help Section.
Gladion: I'll go with you too.
Delicia: Chocolate eclairs!
Crolea: Normally I'd be going to the Learning Section, but...The Battle Section has a tournament once a month, and I think we might be just in time for it!
Ash: A tournament? I'm definitely going to join in this one!
Lillie: Same old Ash. Then I'll look around the other sections while you do that.
After that, they decide to split up as Ash and Crolea are heading to the Battle Section. Crolea has already registered into the tournament beforehand, but Ash didn't, and he seems to miss the entry, which causes him to groan as he watches the match starts. As the emcees, they see two people as they also recognize Ash. One is the Psychic Type Elite 4 member Peach, and the other one is the Sea Star Representative: Ivan.
Peach: Another competitor? How exciting! And it's Ash Ketchum!
Ivan: Unfortunately, you're too late. The tournament has been going on for a while. With only six rounds left, we're at the halfway mark.
Peach: (Whines) What? But that's no fun!
Ivan: It wouldn't be fair to everyone who's made it this far to have someone show up in the middle of the tournament. I apologize, but you have to sit this one out, Ash. Even though you've done a great service to this region by protecting the Underwater Hotel, I can't give you special treatment here. Rules are rules, and no one is exempt from them. Not even the rule-makers themselves.
Crolea: Um...if I can say something...There is an odd number of participants, so somebody's going to have to fight an extra round. The tournament is already unfair for the one that has to do that since they'll have one more battle than everyone else.
Peach: (Delighted) See Ivan? So it's actually a good thing to have Ash joined!
Ivan: (Sighs) Point taken. First! I'll explain to Ash how the tournament works. As I stated previously, there are six rounds left in the tournament. You should expect all of your opponents to have full teams and might want to come with a full team of your own. Your Pokemon will be healed after every battle. I'll give you a chance to get ready. Once you're prepared, come back here and we'll start your match.
Ash: I've already healed my team before coming here, so I'm ready.
Ivan: Alright. It's time for your first battle, Ash.
Peach: ON THE LEFT WE HAVE ASH KETCHUM, THE UNDERWATER HOTEL HERO! ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE NEXENDIA, THE MARVELOUS MARBLE-SEEKING MAGE! BEGIN!
Nexendia: I have to win that Marble! I can't lose focus on that! (Sends out Delphox)
Ash: I'll see about that. (Sends out Persian to battle)
While Ash is having his battle, Lillie is looking around the area with Snowy by her side. They find a house and they enter to see three sisters.
Sister 1: We are the Sea Star Scale Sisters! If you can defeat us, we'll give you Heart Scales! It's one Heart Scales from each of us!
Lillie agrees to battle them as they use Flareon, Umbreon, and Espeon, but with Snowy's help, she manages to defeat every one of them. After that, they give Lillie a total of three Heart Scales.
Lillie: Nice work, Snowy. You're the best (Hugs Snowy)
Nexendia uses Delphox, Jynx, Mismagius, Malamar, Hatterene, and Gothitelle, but Ash manages to defeat her Pokemon with ease with the help of the Dark Type and Steel Type moves, and her last Pokemon, Gothitelle, is defeated by Krookodile's Crunch attack.
Nexendia: I should have focused more on the battle. (Recalls Gothitelle) I guess this Marble eludes me for now...but I'll be back to take it from the winner!
Ivan: Excellent work, Ash! Come back when you're ready for the next round!
After resting for a while, Ash knows that it is time for his next round.
Ivan: Alright. It's time for your second battle. Ash.
Peach: ON THE LEFT WE HAVE ASH KETCHUM, THE UNDERWATER HOTEL HERO! ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE HOUDINI, THE TONGUE-TWISTING TRICKSTER! BEGIN!
Houdini: Two trainers talking at the Tournament! (Sends out Jellicent)
Ash: I can agree to that. (Sends out Pikachu to battle)
As for Lillie, she finds a place called Dream Shrine, and just as she gets inside, she finds a Marble on the ground.
Lillie: A Marble! Looks like we've found another one.
As they are about to get it, the floor breaks, and both Lillie and Snowy all fall to the bottom floor.
Lillie: (Groans) It's a trap...(Spots a Torchic) I don't think we have captured a Torchic, right?
But as she walks forward, she finds that the Torchic is gone, and she continues their path and she finds some misplaced tables and other stuff.
Lillie: Don't tell me that this is Isabelle's works...
As they reach the end, she find the red-eyed girl that they saw in the Dark Dungeon, who was guiding a door.
Sushi: Hi, the person I saw pass through the Dark Dungeon. I see you found the Dream Shrine, the second one, anyway.
Lillie: Second one?
Sushi: The first one was a trap for Rogues when that was going on. The second one I made for the entertainment of visitors.
Lillie: That isn't entertainment...it is pain...
Sushi: But the secret is...this isn't actually a dream! The Dream Shrine isn't like the ability that Felicia girl used on you and your friends. For the first one, I'd use something valuable as bait to trick Rogues into picking it up. At that moment, my Musharna would put them to sleep and I'd take them to another building. For the second one, there used to be a bed at the building you were at. Eventually, running the Dream Shrine got tired (pun intended), so I closed it. But when Mable asked if I'd be willing to hide a Marble there, I did agree to that. (Gives Lillie the Marble) This isn't something I'd do for anyone, but why don't you take this Torchic too? It's helped me out a lot with the Dream Shrine, but since I'm not doing it anymore, maybe it'd like to have a trainer to travel with.
Lillie takes the Torchic's Pokeball from the girl, and then she was sent back to where she was before, and she even gets a Blazikenite. Then she decides to train this Torchic until it becomes a Blaziken.
Back to the battle, Houdini uses Jellicent, Sableye, Greninja, Gourgeist, Grimmsnarl, and Ariados, Ash also beats it with the help of his Pokemon as well. And the final Pokemon Ariados is defeated by Gardevoir's Future Sight.
Houdini: The feat of one is the defeat of the other! (Recalls Ariados) With your win, I wish you well!
Ivan: Excellent work, Ash! Come back when you're ready for the next round!
After resting for a while, he goes for the third round
Ivan: Alright. It's time for your third battle. Ash.
Peach: ON THE LEFT WE HAVE ASH KETCHUM, THE UNDERWATER HOTEL HERO! ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE DUNCAN, OWNER OF DUNCAN'S DONUTS! BEGIN!
Duncan: We have a full stomach! We won't lose at 100%! (Sends out Conkeldurr)
Ash: I'll see about that. (Sends out Gallade)
Back to Lillie, she is heading to the House of Puns, a lot of people are talking puns inside, and eventually, she reaches the end and she find Chelsea, there.
Chelsea: Lillie! It's nice to see you here! Where is Ash?
Lillie: He is at the Tournament, you know, the annual tournament in the Battle Section.
Chelsea: Oh, he Flame Charges into the tournament, what a surprise. I guess Ash or Emily didn't have the Speed to become the Second Champion after all. Hearing the news was like a Shock Wave that left me Rattled!
Lillie: That's true, but Ash can still become the third Champion.
Chelsea: He gave a good First Impression though. I still think he can Take Down the league! And stay Kricketuned, because I have an Explosion of music coming soon! Maybe you'll get to be one of the first to hear it!
Lillie: Of course, I'll have Ash listen to the song as well.
Then she bids farewell to Chelsea as she decides to watch Ash's tournament battle considering that she has already finished the Community Section.
Back to the battle, Duncan sends out Conkeldurr, Falinks, Azumarill, Slaking, Hariyama, and Medicham. It is getting tougher for Ash, but he still wins the match in the end by having Noivern use Hurricane to defeat Medicham.
Duncan: We went from 100 to 0... (Recalls Medicham) I guess I owe you free donuts, now! Come to the Food Section when we have more in stock!"
Ivan: Excellent work, Ash! Come back when you're ready for the next round!
As Ash goes back, he finds Lillie who gives him a hug and a kiss.
Lillie: How did your battle go, Ash?
Ash: I won three matches, three more and I can win it. What about you?
Lillie: I got a Blaziken, maybe you can use it in battles. And then I met Chelsea and she is going to have a new song.
Ash: That sounds interesting. Now the next match is coming, so I need to go there.
Lillie: Good luck.
