Disclaimer: I do not own Revali or Link or any of the Zelda characters nor do I profit from these stories. They are just for Funzo.

A/N: Listening to "Bad Things" By Machine Gun Kelly at the end of this tbh. Also "Before You Go" that song really hits where it hurts for me, I dunno why. Btw guys you don't have to listen to the songs at all, I listen to a lot of music because it helps me write and well they hit the feels sometimes and help me to really feel what I am trying to convey sometimes. But do enjoy the story, if you feel like I suppose. Sorry not very confident in my writing as I am horrible with grammar and such, still feeling out how to write things properly even though it has been over ten years since I was in High School. Golly am I really in my thirties already? Geez-o-petes.. the time really flies, eh?

Warriors of a Feather, Stick Together

Practice Makes Perfection!

This time he was well awake before the dawn, he wasn't sure why he had woken this early but he was pleasantly surprised to see Revali landing on Vah Medoh. Revali acknowledged him with a glance before turning and taking a breath. As the song began, Link hummed along to it and closing his eyes as the sound reverberated in the air around him. He hadn't really noticed how much sound echoed in Vah Medoh until now, it was amazing and epic. When the song ended Link gave a little wave to Revali before heading to the updraft and using it to get on top of the Divine Beast. He was a little nervous to see all the rito, who had showed up to watch. He wasn't used to having so many around but took a breath and approached Revali, keeping his attention on the other male despite the distraction.

His heart was pounding and he really wanted to hold himself, when he finally reached the other male. This was a completely foreign feeling, like being exposed in public. He wasn't even the one performing and he had the jitters from it.

"Are you okay?" Revali whispered.

"Yeah, I'm just not used to being watched," Link replied. Revali nodded as though he understood.

"I wasn't used to it when I was younger but with a lot of practice around others, it became easier," Revali said. "It is all part of the culture, just focus on me and soon it will be as though they aren't even there. Like it was last time." Link blushed but nodded, he took a breath to calm himself, this time he was ready. Revali also took a breath before he began his performance, his dance. Link paid special attention to the turns and even the steps, one turn, two turns, three and then the button hook as he reached the initial starting point.

If he looked at it from a directional stand point it was like he was making turns at the west, the south and the east before changing directions at north. The footwork was surprisingly simple despite the turns, he even counted the steps, he wanted to make sure to get them right. When the dance came to an end with that same flair, he looked to see the warrior smiling at him. His heart fluttered in his chest and he wondered what this feeling was, could he be falling for Revali?

"Today we will have to sit at a table," Revali suddenly said, with a sigh.

"What? Why?" Link asked, surprised.

"Last night, it was requested of me to inform you, that the Princess signed us up to," Revali was obviously irritated by what he was about to say next. "What was it? Sign autographs? It was such a.."

"Autograph's?" Link said, dismayed. "She knows I don't like signing autograph's."

"Really?" Revali asked, seeming surprised. "Then it seems we will both have the displeasure, of obliging the Princess." Link pouted, he really didn't want to spend the whole day just sitting and signing things. It was a festival and festival's were supposed to be fun right? "At least we won't have to be there all day, it's only for the morning until lunch." Link perked up at that, that meant he could still make time for practice but then it wouldn't be much time with Revali, alone. He gulped as he followed the rito, jumping off the Divine beast and gliding down to where Revali had flown to. Revali led the way to the large table, it was near an ancient shrine and facing toward the pathway. Urbosa, Princess Zelda and Daruk were already there but Mipha wasn't yet.

"Oh there you are," Princess Zelda said. "Sit, Princess Mipha had to return home on urgent business but you two.. Why are you two late?" Revali took a seat first and Link sat in the seat beside him, there was one empty seat between him and Princess Zelda.

"I greet the morning sun with the rest of my people," Revali replied, shortly. "Link has been listening and today he even hummed along."

"I listened to the morning greeting and still arrived before you two," Princess Zelda accused. Link wanted to hide, he really hoped that Revali would not reveal the courting.

"Yes.. but so are all of my people," Revali replied, matter-of-factually.

"F-fair point," She said. "Well still.. what was so important."

"There is a rito courting another, every morning," Revali answered, Link nearly breathed a sigh of relief as other male had not offered any specifics. "It is a very important event in our culture, we do not miss them."

"Where is this happening at?" Urbosa asked, her honest curiosity told him that she didn't suspect a thing. He had a feeling though that Revali would reveal the location but as he looked to the rito warrior, he realized that the other was as hesitant as he. Link nodded, they would find out eventually anyway. So why not just get it over with? Revali closed his eyes and met Urbosa's gaze.

"On top of Vah Medoh," Revali's voice didn't even waver. Link thought his heart would beat out of his chest, he was going to be even more nervous now that they were going to be there. He felt the light touch of Revali's feathered hand on his, beneath the table and he gave the other a small squeeze. It was a huge step but what would they think, when they find out their secret tomorrow? What would they do? Unfortunately, he didn't have time to contemplate any longer as the rito had finally showed up, along with other festival goers from all over.

Link thought his arm would fall off halfway through the signings but thankfully, he got to get a quick break to stretch among other things. Once back, he began signing again and attempting to keep his demeanor as pleasant as possible. By the time lunch rolled around he had had just about had enough, there were just too many and his arm was so sore. Thankfully the Princess announced to the rest, that they would have to wait until tomorrow for more signings. Link groaned inwardly, he just wanted to slam his face into the table and be done with it. He was briefly surprised, when Revali was the one to drag him away from the table.

"We shall go and eat," Revali explained. Link nodded but then frowned, he needed to make time to practice but how much time?

"Um Revali," Link began. "I am gunna eat lunch but I have to go do something after, I can meet at dinner after that."

"What do you need to do after lunch?" Revali asked, suspiciously.

"It's a secret," Link replied. He watched as Revali's eyes went a little wider, before returning to normal.

"Right.. then after lunch, I will find something to occupy my time.. until you return for dinner," Revali replied, he smiled at that most serious tone. But he did notice the tail movement and slightly fluffed feather's, Link nodded.

"Sorry, I know it's an inconvenience but.." He suddenly stopped at the vendor from yesterday, as a sudden idea popped into his head. "How you feel about getting a toy from here?"

"What? Why would I want a.." Revali questioned, a bit miffed and irritated.

"If it smelled like me?" Link asked. He watched as Revali made a motion, that seemed like he was going to say something but then paused. He could literally see the thought circling in Revali's mind and a slight pink appeared around the other male's eyes, just below the feathers.

"That would.." Revali began, pausing for a moment. "That would not be unpleasant, I suppose. But it would take a whole night for it to retain your scent." Link felt his face heat up a bit, Revali was suggesting he would have to sleep with the object all night. He nodded and bought a little stuffed toy that resembled himself. He thought he heard Revali mumble, 'how asinine' but he could clearly see the other male's amusement. He tucked it into his jacket when they reached the inn and then he sat while Revali ordered the food. No sooner had the rito warrior set their plates on the table, did the princess and the other champions, sans Mipha, entered.

Thankfully Link was sitting with his back to the inn's entrance, it would not be hard to make his escape. Revali sat to his right preventing anyone from sitting on that side of him, it was even kind of endearing to see the other so protective over him. Endearing, that thought alone had him realizing how much his perception of the haughty rito had changed. He really had fallen for the other male, now he just wondered why? He and Revali had very little in common and what they did share as commonalities, were still very different in experience. The group was talking animatedly but Link was more focused on eating and occasionally answering questions thrown his way.

He really just wished that he and Revali were alone, he still had a lot of questions to ask. Some of the questions involved courting and some involved, small nuances in Revali's body language. He did spend the last couple of bites, just watching Revali react to the other's question's, about what the would-be couple looked like and how in love they were. Of course Revali dodged them all in his own way, it seemed that even Revali didn't want to reveal their secret before it's time either. As he finished the last bite he said his farewells, before ducking out of the inn. He ran as fast as he could until he was over the last bridge, then looking over his shoulder to see that he wasn't followed.

Link reached in his jacket to pull the toy up a bit more, hanging the arms outside the jacket so it would remain stationary. At least that was what he hoped, as he made his way to the clearing. He used the marker on the sheikah slate as a point of reference and once he was heading toward it, Link put the slate away and ran toward it at an even pace. He grinned as it came into view, then found the matching design. He stood on the button hook point and took a breath, remembering the steps. He moved slowly counting each step, pausing briefly at each turn to get the steps just right. Link tripped on the first turn and sighed, then getting up to start the turn again. He kept this up just getting the first initial set of turns down and then he did it in the opposite direction, stumbling a few times there as well.

Link was worried he wouldn't get it today, maybe he lacked the talent for dance but he didn't give up. He tried again and again until he could do the turns with relative ease, he kept this up until he could take it up a notch in terms of speed. Revali had been practicing this dance for years and he had only two days before they would be forced to leave. The realization nearly floored him in the middle of practicing, they were leaving once this festival was done and he would be returning with Princess Zelda to Hyrule Castle. Tears welled up in his eyes, he didn't want to leave rito village and he didn't want to leave Revali. He laughed a little at that but then he collapsed to the ground and sobbed. The irony of all this, he truly was lost. How could he even think of denying Revali now? He was smitten, drawn to the other male like a moth to the flame.

And what of his promise to Prince Sidon? He was all the way on the other side of the world, how would he still be able to visit like he had promised? Would he have to disappoint the young one now? It's not like he could just change his own feelings on command, no he couldn't deny Revali, it would kill him inside. He loved that rude, prideful rito who very nearly killed him when they first met and he wasn't going to let the other go. He would quit the guard, he had to, he had a nest here now and couldn't go back to his old life. Revali was his whole world now.

It was several moments before he finally calmed down enough, to continue practicing, he practiced until the sky turned orange then made his way back to the village. He wiped at his face making sure there was no frosty evidence of tears, before crossing the bridges and walking into the inn. Revali stood as he did so and walked toward him, he was about to ask what was going on. But the rito grabbed his hand gently and led him away from the inn, he realized they were heading up to Revali's home. He remained silent even when Revali had him sit, the rito warrior cooked them a meal and sat beside him. He thought that would be all, when the other male reached up and swiped at the moisture on his face.

"You were upset, why?" Revali asked. Link looked away, staring at the meal in his hands before looking back at Revali.

"I don't want to leave," Link replied, then looked back at his plate. "I don't want to go back to Hyrule Castle. I want to stay here." The last he spoke soft and sad, just as he was feeling, he wondered briefly what the warrior thought of this but didn't look to see. This was as close to a confession as he could come, he didn't want to go back to a lonely castle. He wanted to stay in this beautiful, lively village, with Revali.

"Join me," Revali said, he looked to the other male in his surprise. "It doesn't have to be tomorrow but join me." He watched as Revali struggled to say more, almost as though he were worried. Link smiled at Revali, he didn't have to say more and soon Revali was smiling a bit too.
