This is a crossover with slythefoxx2's fic 'The Unforgivable Act', you need to read it to understand and frankly it's just a really good fic you should read either way, I have permission from slythe to write this and since his fic inspired the original 'Megalomania' fic I'm really honored to be able to do this.

Naruto slowly opened his eyes to see that he was in his room. He also recognized the effects of forced unconsciousness and wondered if had been given a sedative. His third realization is that he was restrained to the bed with chakra dampening shackles. His first impulse was to be angry but before he could fight it back he noticed he was not alone.
"Sleep well?"
The one who had asked the question looked a lot like Naruto, he would have thought it was a shadow clone if not for some very key differences, instead of his spiky blonde hair and blue eyes the man had smooth red hair and amethyst eyes, he also lacked Naruto's whiskers.
"Who are you?" Naruto asked, subtly trying to struggle out of the shackles.
The man laughed and waved his hand, the shackles turning to dust and freeing Naruto.
"I'm your other half, your repressed desires and emotions, you can call me Yami"
"You're the one who caused me to lose control" Naruto accused with a scowl.
"And you tried to get rid of me back at the waterfall of truth" Yami fired back. "I had every right to be angry, and since you refused to listen to me every once in a while I had no choice but to force the issue"
"So what?" Naruto asked. "You tried to make me kill Minato"
"That was actually because you instinctively fought back" Yami said. "Your little insanity bout was the result of our wills clashing"
"Oh great" Naruto said. "Now I have you telling me that I don't actually hate him and should forgive him"
"Hell no" Yami said with a laugh. "It's just that if I had my way you would have succeeded, he'd be dead and I'd be laughing"
"I don't want to kill him, I just want him out of my life"
"The fact that I want him dead is proof that you also do, deep down" Yami said.
At this moment a group of people entered the room, Tsunade scanned the room and saw Yami, scowling she took a fighting stance and said.
"Who are you and how did you get here?"
"Name's Yami" The white-haired man said. "Naruto's true self, grew tired of hearing him bitch about things but not do anything about it so I figured I would go do something about it"
Yami walked towards the group, passed through Tsunade like a ghost, and sat beside Naruto on the bed.
"Unfortunately the process isn't complete yet" He said. "Until it's done I can't get too far from him or interact with the physical world"
Tsunade eyed him warily but decided to move on with the conversation.
"Naruto how did you break free?"
"He released me" Naruto said. "Plus I'm a sage and you can't restrain nature, I could escape by myself"
"Naruto we need to talk" Minato said.
"Oh...are you and mom getting a divorce? Nooo, think of the children! Wait, I'm your only kid, think of me!"
"Or better" Yami said. "Don't, you tend to fuck up everything you get involved in, you have proved as much, with the way you handled my life and all"
"Is that really how you think of me?" Minato asked. "A failure?"
"No" Yami said. "A blight, one that will keep infecting everything around you until you've been properly burned away"
Minato was taken aback, seeing this Naruto spoke.
"Don't let managing to hang out with that half-crazed version of me get to your head, Hokage-sama" Naruto said, his eyes closing to slits. Seeing as this was about to head somewhere bad, Kushina stepped in.
"Alright, you three, calm down. Naruto, we really need to talk to you, you're splitting apart sochi, literally!"
Yami shuddered and said.
"Every time you say that word I feel sick"
"What?" Kushina said, taken aback.
"The fondness, like you care" Yami said in disgust.
"Of course I care!" Kushina shouted.
"You didn't seem to when you gave me an ultimatum yesterday and then acted all offended when I called you out on it" Yami said. "And you certainly didn't seem to care when you helped him make me a monster over a fucking kiss"
"I was also jinchuriki" Kushina said. "Do you think I'm a monster as well?"
"I think you proved that's exactly what you are and Kurama had nothing to do with it" Yami spat.
"I-Is that really what you think?" Kushina asked Naruto, looking as if she was struck.
Naruto glared at Yami but didn't deny it, instead he said.
"When I confronted him during my training trip Kurama and I both assumed that was the end of it. Naruto was a real boy. Apparently, he had some unresolved issues but because none of the circumstances were triggering them it just never came up. Yesterday just happened to be a sufficient mix of things to set me off"
"I was content to just sit back and let you live your life" Yami said. "But there's only so much I can tolerate"
"So, because of what we were talking about you started having a breakdown?" Kushina asked, looking sullen.
"It was the breaking point" Yami said. "I thought I was wrong about you, but it seems he has already sunken his claws on you far too deep"
"I'm not 'sinking my claws' into anyone" Minato defended.
"Really?" Yami spat with a sneer. "Then explain Kushina, who I almost believed I was wrong about and that I could trust only for her to throw that trust back in my face when she tried to force me to accept you"
"I didn't-" Kushina began but was interrupted by a shout.
"Shut the fuck up!" Yami shouted while glaring at her before he walked up to Minato, who instinctively took a fighting stance, and said.
"Explain Tsunade, who did more for me that either of you ever did and that I loved and thought I could trust only for her to stab me in the back the moment you show up!"
"That's not it" Tsunade pleaded. "Son I-"
She was interrupted by a punch, it passed through her but it still managed to silence her.
"Do not call me that" Yami hissed. "If I was your son you would have supported me, not taken advantage of my trust to knock me out and chain me to the fucking bed!"
"That's enough!" Naruto shouted. "That's not true!"
Yami glared at him and said.
"The longer you take to accept the truth the more people he will turn against you yet you sit here and do nothing, how long until he turns Hinata I wonder?"
That got a reaction out of Naruto, he stood up and glared at Minato.
"If you so much as look at her I swear I will tear you limb from fucking limb and kill anybody who tries to stop me!"
"I'm not!" Minato pleaded. "I'm not going to do anything to her, but son please, you're not well, hell you manifested a separate personality, that's not healthy!"
"I'll consult a mental health professional so I can fix myself up, I'll provide reports to Kaa- to Tsunade-sama to chart my progress and we just move things along. This may not be common but there's no reason to treat it as special just because you're involved" Naruto said, ignoring the hurt look Tsunade had.
"Naruto it's not that simple. You stated you thought I wanted you broken, I requested Hiruzen release your status knowing the reaction the villagers would have. You told Tsunade you needed to protect them from me, hell your other half just said I'm turning the people you love against you. I need to know why"
"You want to know why, you don't need to know it but fine. I have very little reason to trust you or take your stated motivations at face value. It would be foolish not to consider alternative interpretations for your actions and plan my response should said interpretations ever be proven correct. Also, understand something, even if I had 27 different versions of him in my head and half of them lived under a purple sky, my reasons for the way I feel about you aren't entirely irrational"
"I think you're giving him too much credit" Yami said. "I wouldn't put it past him but I find it far more likely that he did it due to naive stupidity than planned malice, 'Let's make the life of my son a living hell only to prove how great he is when he rises above it and how great I am when it's revealed I planned it all along' seems like the sort of thing he'd do"
"You think I'd make you suffer just to feed my ego?" Minato asked.
"You bet the continued existance of your precious village on me doing what you wanted despite the fact that I had every reason to do the exact oposite, at any point I could have said 'Fuck it' and opened the seal, Kurama would kill them all and even if Hiruzen sacrificed himself to stop him they wouldn't have any more Uzumaki, the other villages would decend upon them like vultures when they learned Konoha lacked a jinchuriki and then your so called sacrifice would have been meaningless, not to mention chances are they would fight amongst themselves and then exponentially more lives would be lost than those you saved, I could have gone to another village and even if they killed me to extract Kurama Konoha would still burn, I could have either been captured or willingly surendered to the Akatsuki and then every life on the planet would be gone, I could have done any number of things out of spite and caused far more deaths than you prevented yet you decided to do it anyway because you thought the newborn whom you knew for a whole hour, whose life circustances you had no way to know for sure, whose life you were currently making a living hell, would decide to do what you wanted anyway, given the sheer amount of things that could and should have gone wrong with your plan it's a miracle the worst that happened was that we hate you and think Konoha is beneath us and deserves whatever comes to it and the sheer stupidity of you taking that risk tells me I shouldn't put anything past you" Yami said.
"What do you want from me? I can apologize until I'm blue but it won't matter if you don't care. So, what is it you want?"
"Nothing. I'm fine, you want something from me, same as Kushina, you want me to forgive you so we can be a real family. But you don't treat me as a real family so isn't this just the consequences of your choices?" Naruto said.
"I'm with him on that one" Yami said. "As much as I want you dead I'm willing to let it go as long as you get out of our life, the only reason we are here is that you refuse to take responsibility and instead hold us as the unreasonable ones for wanting nothing to do with you, you're just too damn proud to admit it"
"Naruto, look at what you have, at what you managed to become. If you could rise above the hatred you could be a beacon to so many people. You chose to wallow. You'd rather stay angry and resentful instead of finding the strength to be something more"
"Minato!" Yelled Kushina.
Naruto burst out laughing while Yami went perfectly still face unreadable though for a moment amusement and triumph seemed to pass through his eyes.
"You're so full of your own bullshit it's amazing you can function. Rise above? How convenient you make me ultimately responsible." Naruto said. " Was I supposed to show the village they were wrong about me? Earn their respect? You dumbshit! They were wrong about me but it was up to them to reach that obvious conclusion. I'm not here for them, I don't exist to make others better you son of a bitch. I am a person, my pain, my desires, my everything is just as fucking valid as anyone else's! I do not exist for them! I don't exist to suffer on their behalf. My body will not carry scars of others' pain just so they learn a lesson! This is why I'll have nothing to do with you. I'm not a person to you. I'm something else, less than human!"
"No, I thought you could be something more. A light for the world and you could be, you just refuse to be. It's like you hold yourself back, you won't be a comfort to those you deem unworthy. They messed up Naruto, they wronged you and nobody denies it but we can't change that." Minato said.
"You're right" Yami said. "You can't change what you did, no amount of begging or pleading for forgiveness will ever change the fact that you thought we weren't good enough, important enough, to protect, you used us like we were your property, an object instead of a person, and nothing you can do will ever change that"
"That's not true" Minato said. "Of course you were important to me. I'm sorry I can't convince myself to allow thousands to die. I'm sorry I trusted Jiraya and Hiruzen to do the right thing. But because of what you went through you understand people in a way many don't. You, the boy who had nothing are on a first-name basis with most of the Kage, you managed to befriend people across the nation. But you come here and you're barely seen. The people want to make it up to you, I do as well. Stop hiding from us"
"I'm not hiding, I just want nothing to do with them nor you. Why should I? They had their chance and they lost it just like you, you could have had a family or you could have had Konoha, you made your choice, live with it because you don't get to have both, you chose those cowards over your own son and why wouldn't you? You are their king, their god, I am nothing in comparison to Konoha and you don't deny it, you just want me to be okay with it"
Naruto laughed, it was bitter and filled with hate.
"It took my mind splitting in two for me to finaly understand, it took everything I have always known but been denying being thrown in my face to finally accept it, nothing will ever undo what you did, I will never forgive nor forget because as long as I hold on to this hate it won't disappear, you took much from me but I refuse to let you take anything else, I. Am. Done. I am my own person and you and your precious villagers are so far beneath me that you aren't even worth killing"
Naruto removed his headband and with a glare, he spat on it before he threw it on the floor and said.
"I am done with you, all of you, keep your kingdom, keep the people I loved that you took from me, keep everything, but know this, you may be their god but to me all of you are insects, and if I ever see you again I am going to make you watch as take everything you ever loved from you, I will hurt you in ways you never dreamed possible, I will break you, and then, and only then, will I allow you to die"
And then, before the stunned crowd could react, he flashed away, Yami just chuckled and gave them a cruel grin, the pleasure he was taking from the situation clear for all to see, before he too vanished.
High above them, in the skies above Konoha, a figure stood, he looked just like Naruto but his hair was red and his eyes were slited, Yami appeared next to him and after a moment Yami's hair turned white and his eyes silver.
"Did you have your fun?" Kurama asked.
"That was the only counterpart I found thus far that hated Namikaze for reasons similar to mine" Naruto said. "I wasn't about to let him forgive Namikaze"
"I did what you asked, by the way" Kurama said. "The Hyuuga girl will follow him when he asks"
"Thanks, Kurama" Naruto said. "Also for the idea, playing at being my counterpart's hidden darkness was surprisingly fun"
"No worries" Kurama said. "What now?"
Naruto didn't answer for a moment, watching as the group desperately searched the village in search of his counterpart, only to arrive far too late at the Hyuuga compound and see that the couple was long gone.
"We haven't done anything you like in a while" Naruto finally said. "What do you say we go Madara hunting across a few timelines?"
Kurama just grinned.
