Away

My first fic! Being a great fluff lover, I decided to be ironic and make this an angst! The ending is a cliffhanger, so I'll probably make a sequel.

"I love you"

Those three words would never be heard from his mouth. Three small words meant so much. It played over and over in her mind. A tear fell down her cheek. If only you were here. He wouldn't be back. She was alone. Alone without love.

Ginny walked into her dorm.

"It'll be okay, we'll be fine. You-Know-Who is gone now," Ginny whispered.

Hermione looked up. "It'll never be okay. Not without him," she said, her voice trembling.

She felt powerful emotion. Too powerful to be love. She wanted to be with him. But she couldn't. She had to move on. It seemed impossible. He had always been there for her. From the troll in first year to the Department of Mysteries in fifth year. He was gone now.

She should have gone with him, with him to face Voldemort, but he insisted that she stayed. She was stupid enough to listen, to let him go.

Flashback

"Harry, wait! I'm going to come with you!"

"No, It's too dangerous. I'm going alone. You'll get hurt."

"No! I won't let you. I'm staying with you, until"-

-" I love you, Hermione, remember that."

And with a flash, he disappeared.

End Flashback

Ginny left the room. She stared at the picture frame on her nightstand. Colin had took it, during one of their study sessions. Hermione was sitting on the couch, reading a book, and Harry was right next to her, writing something. Harry gave Hermione a quick peck on the cheek, and Hermione returned it. They were so happy; it made Hermione cry more just to look at that picture.

Hermione got up, off the bed, and went into the common room. There, Ron was pacing in front of the fire. She glimpsed at the forest through the window, if you could call it a forest. It had been destroyed during the battle.

"Hermione," Ron croaked, his voice unclear.

She looked at Ron. He didn't know that Harry and Hermione loved each other, Ron was supposed to know after the war. Without saying anything, she climbed through the portrait hole out of the common room. She didn't know what she was doing, but she needed to get away.

Her footsteps seemed so loud in the halls of Hogwarts. She didn't know where she was going, her feet just taking her somewhere. Soon, she was facing the one-eyed witch.

"Dissendium," she muttered.

She climbed through the statue. Sliding down the path, she thought to herself what she was going to do. Walking through the passageway, she remembered that Hogsmeade was ruined now. Destroyed. Death Eaters had destroyed it. The place where the loose floorboard in the Honeydukes cellar was gone. Instead, it was a big gaping hole in the rubble and ash. She climbed out staring at the destroyed Hogsmeade.

She heard rumbling. She saw a purple triple-decker buss heading her way. She hadn't realized it, but her wand was pointing straight ahead, out of reflex. The Knight Bus. It was right in front of her.

"Welcome to The Knight Bus, emergency transport for the- 'ey! It's one of Harry friends! How's Harry doing?"

Without hesitation, Hermione climbed on the bus, ignoring Stan and throwing some silver in his hands.

"So, where'd you be goin'?"

Hermione looked at him. "Anywhere. Anywhere but here."
