Author's Note:Hello lads and ladies

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MY DEAR AND LOYAL READERS!

Today a year ago I posted the very first chapter of Beastars Rewritten. Back then it was a mere jugosi fic that rewrote season 1 to abide my shipper heart and look where we are now. Original Characters progressing the plot that is in a lot of ways different than the normal story.

It's pretty overwhelming to notice that season 1 has 30k reads by now. I hope we will conclude our journey with season 2 before the end of the year, but things at my place are moving in rythms that once again can not be fully calculated. There are still a few chapters on the editing blocks, meaning they won't take long. But writing process overall has been rather slow.

So anyway, enjoy my favorite chapter of Season 2 so far. Have a wonderful day/night afterwards.

Chapter 17: The Carnivore Gentleman and the Herbivore Lady

The roar of the white and black DeVille in the driveway was menacing in its approach. Ibuki already knew before even having to see his face, that Tokugawa was not happy to be here.

The cougar walked in wearing a dark red sports jacket and black pants. It was a more casual outfit in comparison to his usual full-fitted three-piece suit. He wore a completely stoic facade bricked over his actual thoughts. His eyes darted from one person to another without showing anything but the intensity of irritation.

"Fill me in as we walk."

Tokugawa moved straight past the lion, Ibuki following the large cougar rather quickly into the still pink mood-lights. They passed an afraid and nervous, young Jackal boy behind the front desk of the club. He sank when he saw Ibuki walk past in tow of an incredibly tall cougar. The fear of the cocky youngling didn't put him in a good mood this time. It only served to spark his worry of how Tokugawa might react to something like this.

"We were out on the orders you gave us. This was the next place on the agenda. We came down and started talking with Kaleido about the management changes until we heard a ruckus from the back room, one of the actresses screaming." They entered the employee-only hallway, Dope holding the door open in submissive servitude that wasn't only because of Tokugawa's presence.

"One of the actresses was supposedly jealous of the one currently on the stage, one who happened to be a herbivore."

Tokugawa stood still, Ibuki almost bumping into him from the sudden stop.

"The actress on stage was Cosmo?" The cougar turned around and locked onto Ibuki, who held his ground in the face of growing difficulty. Tokugawa's eyes stared directly into his soul and searched for every fault he had ever committed. "What happened next?"

Ibuki began to sweat. The tone of the carnivore was ice cold. No emotions or thought processes echoed through whatsoever. Ibuki was treading through dark waters one couldn't see through, landmines covering the ground in unknown patterns.

"Miss killjoy lowered the cage of hers. And Miss Cosmo was nearly involved in an accident. We have three assailants tied up in the back."

Tokugawa's eyes narrowed.

"And how is Cosmo right now." His left hand held his left wrist, squeezing it with white flashing knuckles.

"A little shaken but alright. Unharmed. She's sitting in the back room."

The cougar's expression eased, his hands now straightening his shirt cuffs.

"Good… Good." He sounded stuck in thought, looking off into space before his flaming intensity hit the lion once again.

"And where is Miss Killjoy as you so aptly named her?" He asked. Ibuki simply gestured down the hallway behind him.

"In the backroom, with Dolph keeping her there."

A smile danced along Tokugawa's and shined brighter than the dark silhouette his face had been before.

"Good job Ibuki. Outstanding job," he spoke as he walked down the hallway with Ibuki in tow.

Ibuki couldn't help but let a feeling of pride flush through him. It had been a considerable while since anyone told Ibuki he had done a good job.

"Thank you, Boss."

The two entered the backroom, Tokugawa having to duck under the doorframe to fit through. All eyes went to him, and Cosmo's face lit up into a full smile. To everyone's surprise, the Okapi walked forward and hugged the Cougar, who returned it in an equal passion of a hug with someone you hadn't met in quite a long time. The others watched in total shock at the two hugging in a moment of tenderness.

"I am so glad that you're alright. I would've never forgiven myself if anything had happened to you." Tokugawa said softly, his hand softly running through the fur on her head. Cosmo laughed.

"I'm ok Toku, I'm ok."

The hug lingered on for an incredible ten seconds that left the others in clear awe and shock at their pre-existing relationship. They separated after the hug and still looked at each other with eyes that only long-knowing friends could have for each other.

Tokugawa turned around to the other ocelot actress sitting with her knees propped up against her chest, her arms clutching them tightly.

The flaming intensity now hit her as well, and she sank further back into her chair as Tokugawa stepped forward with foreboding steps. His hands crossed behind his back.

"Well, Well… Miss Killjoy herself." He leaned forward until he was level with her. His tail twitched from one side to the other. "And what do you have to say for yourself."

Tokugawa's voice now represented his true role in the market. Authority and anger emanated through in a controlled undertone, lined with playful joy that in no situation could mean anything good. He truly did sound like a mafia boss now.

"I-I-"

She was sobbing and crying in a picturesque way of the damsel being hurt but still full of grace, but Ibiki wondered if they were truly sincere. She did scream when the lever didn't work while trying to close the cage again. And that was before we entered the room. She must have felt some form of regret, at least. He reasoned with himself. But the tears left Tokugawa cold.

"If I want to hear someone crying I would've gone into politics. But here I am, so stop your pathetic whimpering." Tokugawa still stayed hunched forward, his stare never leaving here eyes as his own face started to draw shadows as his face grimaced with rage.

"I-I was… I just… I'm sorry" She leaned forward trying to grab his collar so she could cry into his shoulder. The cougar stepped back and slapped her across the face. The feline actress landed on the ground with complete shock.

"Alright, I understand." Tokugawa turned to his subordinates.

"Wheel her outback with the others-" Cosmo grabbed his arm, and he looked down at her, the sight of the okapi bringing warmth into his face.

"Don't, Toku. She was just jealous. Everyone's jealous sometimes."

For a short moment, he looked at her that felt once again excruciatingly long to all others in the room. The ocelot tried to stand up, but Dolph's hand pushed her back down. When she looked up at him his only response was an angry frown.

"Jealously shouldn't mean purposely putting someone else life in danger."

Cosmo responded with a soft expression that yearned for him to understand.

"Alright… Alright." The cougar took her hand and squeezed it endearingly. He turned back to the ocelot, his hands now sank back to his side.

"You owe your life to her, keep that in mind when your about to do something like this ever again, Miss Killjoy." Cosmo looked at her with sympathy. Something she didn't expect to see ever again in her life. She nodded slowly.

"Get your clothes and your things, and don't ever step a foot in the black market again. Have fun getting your meat elsewhere." The ocelot looked at the ground helplessly, feeling brought back to a time where she felt as helpless as she did now. Her head was filled with memories of that wretched place at school, and she felt ready to throw up.

Dolph grabbed her arm and pulled her to her feet in a quick motion. He had to be honest, she looked cute in her purple outfit. Cute enough to eat.He snickered to himself. She continued to wander to the wardrobe as if she was in a dream. A nightmare that turns your perception upside down.

"Are you really alright, Cosmo? Anybody would be shaken after an event such as that." Tokugawa asked the okapi, who waved off his worry.

"I'm alright Toku. I truly am. I just need a little time to process." He was observing her for any signs of hurt, but he didn't see anything that gave him any bearing. If his memory didn't fail him, and it rarely ever did, he never could see through her like he could see through everyone else. She was special.

"Well. I'm going to call you a cab. You're staying in my house tonight." Tokugawa whipped out his phone, tapping into his contact list which was sensibly short and organized. He didn't keep contacts that he rarely ever interacted with.

"Toku, no. Pinkie will be worried if I'm not home, you know how he is." Tokugawa waved off her protest just like she had waved off his worry.

"Then you will have to call Mr. Pink and tell him that I am taking care of you. You're not going anywhere tonight unless under my supervision." He tapped on the needed contact and held the phone to his head.

"Anno. Send me a cab to the Jungle Palace and tell the kitchen to make dinner for two, Miss Cosmo is staying over… We'll talk about that matter later…" His face took one of irritation again.

"Then tell that arrogant asshole that I am out of the house. If he wants to call, he has to call later. I am unavailable… If he calls back while I am still not home, you'll tell him that I'm unavailable. If he then tries to go on his long 'it's incredibly important' spout of horse shit, then I personally allow you to hang up… Thank you, Anno. I'll be back home soon."

He clicked on the red button and let his phone sink into his jacket pocket. He took Cosmos hands into his own again and cupped them in front of her.

"Cosmo, you'll have some warm food and sleep in a nice bed, not in that cramped ghetto where you have your apartment. Seeing you there is like seeing a beautiful rose in a field of weeds." He kissed her hands and was delighted to see redness in her cheeks.

"I know, Toku. You always bring that up." He let go of her hands and turned around.

"Now, now, what other thing to do." His eyes of intensity landed on the Pine Marten that seemed to immediately shrink under his gaze.

"While we are here, I guess I can take care of this myself. Ibuki!". He called out, the lion walking to his side.

"Yes, Boss." The pine martin shrunk further when he heard the imposing and dominant lion call this large cougar his superior.

"You're still keeping watch over the three that attacked?" He asked quietly now, out of earshot of the Okapi and the Pine Marten.

"Agata and Free are, Boss."

"Get the rest out back and get ready for messy work. Send the boy from the desk home and turn off the security cameras for tonight. Set them out on plastic sheets. I'll be there in ten minutes."

"You got it, Boss." Ibuki turned around towards the employee hallway, already sending Dope and Dolph ahead.

"And Ibuki."

The lion turned around towards the Cougar.

"Yes, Boss?" Tokugawa looked at him with gratitude and pride. It was incredibly satisfying to see.

"You do your job incredibly well. I am very glad that you took over the position of Alpha. I couldn't imagine anyone doing a better job than you." Ibuki bowed down and felt something he hadn't felt for close to five months now. Control over the situation. It was empowering and amazing. He would hold his title with honor, the new boss of the Shishigumi.

"Now..." Tokugawa turned towards the pine marten and pointed at his office. "Regardless of one's size, a man is entitled to enter his own office first." The small carnivore maneuvered his way down from the table and walked into the office. The large cougar followed and closed the door.

Ten minutes later, Tokugawa left the office, the Pine marten's color having changed from a strong forest brown to being much, much paler. Kaleido had understood after meeting the owner of the black market that changes were coming. Big changes for the establishment and the employees.

"Cosmo, my dear. The Cab's surely waiting outside." He held her shoulders softly, with a grip that was gentle yet firm.

"Do you have your things?" He asked worriedly. She nodded and smiled at him.

"You know, you worry a whole lot."

He chuckled at her comment.

"Well, it's my job to worry about things." They both laughed, and the pressure of the situation had left the room. He held out his arm, and she hooked into it. They slowly walked towards the employee-only hallway, Tokugawa stopping just before entering.

"Oh, and Kaleido?" The pine marten looked at him in fear and wary.

"Get some proper music for Rex's sake. Makes the whole place feel cheap." Kaleido swallowed and nodded, surely being afraid of every yen he would have to pay for this place to hold up to Tokugawa's rules.

The herbivore stripper and the carnivore mafia boss walked down the hallway, their arms hooked into each other. The outside darkness was illuminated by the headlights of a second car, a black business Taxi, standing in the driveway. Tokugawa lead her towards it, opening the door for her. After she sat down, she looked back at the cougar, who leaned forward to see into the car.

"I'll be right there, my dear. You haven't met Anno yet, but he is a good fellow. He'll get you seated for dinner, and then I'll return." Cosmo smiled at him.

"Thank you, Toku. See you there." They waved, and he closed the door. The car's motor roared up and drove down the street. Tokugawa starred at it until it passed the corner. He didn't want a person as lovely as Cosmo to see the mess he would get on his hands.

He turned around and walked towards the back of the building. Most of the Black market's roads were nothing but alleyways, but the little passages between buildings or building blocks were always worse. Full of garbage piles and reeking of all forms of rotten smells. Get the clothes to the cleaner and take a bath.Internalized the Cougar. He reached the back of the building to see everything like he wanted it to have.

"Well, Well, Well…" He walked in front of the three assailants, sitting on their lower legs, bound by the feet and by the hands. And to as he could see, all three had already taken quite a beating. The lions of the shishigumi stood around them, awaiting his orders.

"We're thorry… pleathe let uth go." Was the pathetic whine from the wolf. Tokugawa only chuckled.

"Too late, friend. Should've stayed in your seats when you had the chance." He pulled out his phone and taped through the contacts a second time as the wolf began to cry.

"Van for three large breeds by the Jungle Palace in ten minutes. And let Gordon drive. Nicky is always whining about everything." The phone landed back in his pocket, and then he proceeded to take his coat off.

"Members of the Shishigumi." He spoke loud enough for all lions to hear him. He threw his coat at Agata, speaking directly to him now.

"Hold that will you. You'll thank me later."

He once again spoke to the group.

"What did I tell good old Mina during our first meeting? Right after he was so adamant about wanting to duel someone to death." He pushed back his sleeves, awaiting an answer. The group stayed quiet.

"No one?" He held out his arms in a shrugging pose. Dope spoke up.

"I believe it was 'I don't have fun while killing another.'"

"That's absolutely right. I do NOT have fun while killing someone else. But I left out a little passage of the whole statement." He reached into his pocket, and his hand reemerged with a pocket knife.

"I do not have fun while killing someone, but I do enjoy punishing those who deserve it." He opened the knife to reveal a long golden knife. He laughed as he presented it.

"Don't get scared. This ain't real gold. I may be rich, but I'm no snob… Now back to the point I'm trying to make." The knife wandered from one hand to the other repeatedly.

"When someone is in all ways deserving of punishment-" Tokugawa took a step forward, the wolf starting to thrash around, falling over as he screamed.

"I HAFE A FAMILY, I HAFE WIFE AND KIDTH, LET ME GO PLEATHE PLEATHE." Free and Dolph came closer, placing the fellow right side up again.

"-Then there is nothing wrong with feeling joy when delivering justice." Tokugawa grabbed the wolf's face and held it up, the knife pointing hungrily at his features as the cougar's hand made it dance around in the air.

"And listen closely, friend. When you are held at gunpoint because you almost indulged in the most heinous way of silencing instincts, then you don't normally talk about the wife you cheated on in the process. And now stop with your endless begging. The only noise I should hear from you are your screams..."

Tokugawa spoke a quick prayer and went to work, the wolf abiding by the cougar's request in full and then some.

The three writhing bodies cluttered into the van. Soft crying sounded from all of them, blood still oozing from various wounds. Tokugawa pulled a fresh shirt over his head, plunging the bloody one into the trash can. He took back his sports coat from Agata, who was indeed thankful that he didn't have to participate.

"Might I ask you a question, Boss?" Ibuki was indifferent to the whole thing. He had seen worse throughout his life. And in the bigger picture, Tokugawa's methods were mercifully tame. A different matter was on his mind.

"Yes, Ibuki?" The cougar looked back, the charming smile on his face again.

"How does the owner of the black market come to know a woman like Cosmo?" Tokugawa laughed his rumbling deep laughter which seemed to come more from the stomach than the throat.

"That is a good question." He straightened himself, brushed off his jacket, and straightened his back.

"You need to understand, my father and I were never really close. It's something in my family line that parents and their children only know each other partially. Just like my own son is off to school during all of this." Ibuki looked up in surprise.

"You have a son?"

Tokugawa chuckled.

"I don't hang pictures of him in the halls to show him off to the guests. And he came from an arranged marriage, as it is with rich families. Not to say I don't love my boy, but the relationship between father and son is shaky in my family. And the death of his mother isn't helping." He straightened his jacket.

"I'm sorry to hear it, Boss." Ibuki sympathized, But Tokugawa waved it off.

"The marriage was purely pragmatic. And we were on neutral terms with each other when the kid was born. She died during a business trip, but that's quite some years back… Anyways, back to the story.

When I was about 25, my father came back from a long business trip which caused him to miss my graduation. You see, business owners sometimes make long trips that can take years. My father was away for two. And I remember being so incredibly disappointed that he missed it, knowing just how much effort I had put into it. My father, of course, noticed, and his prime principle was always that he could never leave hard work unrewarded. That was his best trait of all." He looked off into the distance and marveled as he stayed in thought for a moment.

"And my father decided to reward me with a high-class call-girl, some that his friends in the nobble upper-class cycle hand around like salt and pepper during a meal. And the lucky lady to be decided as a reward for my work was Cosmo." He smiled a bit dreamily as he looked off into the distance.

"She couldn't have been older than 19, and she was just so charming and beautiful. We talked for most of the night. We certainly did more talking than the thing my father had paid her for. And she slipped me her number. And although we do still indulge in these activities, we are certainly more friends than lovers." He sighed after a deep breath.

"She helped me through some horrible times. And I am still trying to help her through hers." He looked off into the distance, seeing a skyscraper from far away in the town's center uphill. Ibuki looked a bit confused.

"If she was 19 when you were 25, then she's six years younger than you. She still seems rather young, though. How old are you?"

Tokugawa chuckled and slapped Ibuki by the shoulder.

"I'm 38. Don't ever let a woman's looks fool you. They know how to make themselves look a hell of a lot younger." His chuckle rumbled in his throat for another moment. The two looked towards the van, a large owl locking the back doors. He turned towards Ibuki and Tokugawa.

"City Hall drop off?" The owl asked. Tokugawa shook his head.

"Make it the hospital. Any blood loss because nobody found them for a longer period of time would kill them." The owl nodded and turned around. Tokugawa's hand on his shoulder stopped him in his tracks.

"Don't forget the masks and make sure you're not being followed. If they find your hideout, that would be an awful shame."

The owl nodded again and moved along to the truck's front, the door closing and soon after, driving away. The cougar again followed the vehicle with his eyes until it rounded the corner.

Tokugawa spun around and looked at the lions in front of him. He addressed the group:

"Well, fellas. It was an eventful evening. I believe you all deserve a break. Go on back to your headquarters." He waved them goodbye and stepped back into his DeVille, the motor roaring alive and soon chasing down the road. The lions looked at each other and nodded resoundingly. They walked home in a relaxed walk, knowing that at home a meaty dinner and a fridge full of booze were waiting.

Cosmo had known Tokugawa as Toku since the very first day, as he remembered it. She had found his name cute, and he had found her good-hearted nature endearing. When you lived long enough with an ice-cold mammal with accounting books in the place where the heart should be, good-hearted people really lit up one's day. And by god, he had at this point been thankful for this intervention. He had gotten three nagging calls from the Beastar today, and soon he would end the day knowing one of his most valued friends was safe and sound.

"If you always try to get to the top, you don't get to the bottom of nothing-" He found himself singing with the radio, tapping the steering wheel as he came out to the black market gate which he had left raised on his entering. He parked the car outside the gate and got out, singing along to the still loud radio as he opened the control panel for the gate and lowered it again.

Not much later, he pulled into his long driveway which lead to the back of his house. Beyond the elevated pool in the pavilion stood a one-story building, the same building style as his mansion. His backyard garage was filled with six cars of which he usually drove only one. He never cared much for cars. It was fine to him as long as it got you from point A to B in relative speed. The only reason he had more than one was that he needed a few high-class Taxi surrogates. Not actual Taxis, but cars that served as teleportation for his guests. And The Deville was a two-seater he couldn't use for every occasion.

He whistled all the way as he closed the garage and made his way inside through the back hall, hanging his jacket. He traversed the halls of his own home expertly, finding the dining room incredibly quickly. His house was large. It had been a family homestead that was renovated more than three deliberate times in its almost two hundred years long lifetime.

As he entered the dining hall, he was delighted to see Cosmo already eating away at her own dinner, smiling at the cougar when he entered. He walked over to her with open arms.

"My Cosmo..." She stood up, and they hugged again, this time more intimately as before the lions.

"I've missed you," Tokugawa said, who was never more than Toku to her. Never in his life had he asked her to use anything else but the nickname she had so delightfully given him. She was sacred to him. The light dancing with the shadows that could at any moment be swallowed up, and yet being so fearless in the face of her own mortality and vulnerability.

"I'm sorry that it's been a while," she replied as Tokugawa went to his side of the table. Anno came through the kitchen door with a silver dining bell, bringing Tokugawa's dinner. And after a thank you and an extra bottle of alcoholic beverage, the two were stuck deep in conversation.

"How is Mr. Pink anyway. That old turtle is still alive and running?"

She laughed and took a sip.

"Of course he is. He is 'in the prime of his life.'" She raised the glass with her hand to her chest, swaying it around like an alcoholic would his own beverage, imitating the turtle's tone in a perfect way that got Toku to laugh so hard he nearly spilled his drink while shaking.

"Is it fun living in the apartment block? How much longer till you can move out to bigger and better things as you so like to say." He asked with worry. She looked at him with reproach and looked down at her plate before mustering a sad smile.

"I'm still looking for a job elsewhere. I think modeling was one of the options… but the herbivore model market is over-saturated at the moment. And I still don't know what I am gonna do with a better place… All that space… Maybe I could get a boyfriend." She looked at him and smiled cautiously. To her delight, he smiled.

As many times as Tokugawa has offered to pay for a new place for her, she's always been adamant about making the money for it herself.

"Sounds lovely to me," he responded, "As long as you don't keep taking these under-the-counter call-girl jobs. They're really dangerous-"

Cosmo suddenly hit the table, the glass almost falling over, anger drew lines in her face.

"That is what they all say. That is what dad said and what Kaleido says. And I am sick from hearing it. I am old enough for that responsibility, and I am taking it. I can take them all lecturing me. But not you… Not you… Not you who I only met because of these 'under the counter' jobs." His face was now spiked with regret. He nodded.

"I understand…. I understand. Just after days like today, I am so worried." He twirled his fork in his food. Cosmo breathed out.

"I know all of you worry, and I know that it's dangerous. But even with lousy pay, the tips I get are immense." He nodded in agreement. The instincts of carnivores were an easy target to be played off of. Still, he was uncertain and scared for her well-being. But alas, he only smiled.

"Then I imagine you'll enjoy receiving extra pay. I took care of that personally with Kaleido. And maybe you could even start to look for a better club to perform at, I know quite a few." This time she smiled at him.

"It's your job to know, isn't it?" They laughed, and both took another sip from their glasses. "The Jungle palace is a fine enough place for me. Going to another place means they would need to set up new security, which would take quite a while. I have savings, but I don't want to use them yet."

"Then when will be the time? When's the day that you move out of that ghetto housing down by the docks and finally leave this city like so you often dreamed? Your father isn't there to worry about you anymore, and I am in no way a match to his will. When will be the day that I have to stop worrying about you." Cosmo didn't react with anger or irritation to his prodding. He had seemingly hit a soft spot. He regretted it immensely for all the time she stayed silent.

"Listen, dear, I didn't want-" He rose from his chair, wanting to comfort her and apologize.

"It's ok." She broke him off. "I will leave by new years." She said sullenly.

Toku sank back into his chair. That was an answer he didn't want to pull out of her by force. He knew that she would've told him even in the face of the possibility that he would send men to keep a watch on her, which he had planned on.

"Well…" He was looking for something to say but couldn't find anything. It was not much longer until new years, and the darkness of the outside world was growing bleaker each day. He raised his glass in a toast.

"To letting go and fresh starts…"

She raised her glass as well but said things of her own. His glass sank back to the table, and that was enough for him. For the rest of the dinner, the conversations turned much more light-hearted and mellow. There was no more feasible substance to the talking, but it went on either way. In the end, he was happy that she was even here. And that was enough to be happy about.

After Anno cleaned the table, the carnivore gentlemen and herbivore lady walked together up the stairs, towards their sleeping quarters.

The house was erected around a small garden in its middle, acting like strong walls around the central fountain. Each room had a perfect view of it.

They stopped in the hallway to the guest bedrooms as he turned to her. "For sleeping tonight, I give you two options." He playfully held up two fingers.

"Option one: Sleep in the guest bedroom I have had prepared for you." He counted to the second finger.

"Option two: Sleep In a much more luxurious and comfortable bedroom… beside me, of course." He looked at her with a coy and charming smile, playful the last bit. Cosmo smiled and pretended to take both options into hard consideration. Her eyes caught his with a teasingly sultry glare.

"Since when have I had problems with sharing a blanket with you?" She reached her arms down and pressed her shoulders out, presenting her chest to him as she cocked her head to the side.

"Never as far as I am concerned." He answered with a smile of utter happiness that warmed her heart. She kissed his cheek gently.

"Then you know my answer."

Right after the dropping off of the three carnivores, moaning in excruciating pain, the three figures were quickly noticed by a night guard. They were rushed into Emergency Care and treated for their wounds. The nature of said wounds was very quickly assessed to be of outside influence. The police were called, and photos were promptly taken.

An old moose working the shift that night thought to himself that his pay was way too low for his work effort. So he had struck up a deal with a few journalists that paid him cash for information and even more cash for photos.

"Damn, this really is something, ain't it?"

"Pretty unfortunate suckers, alright."

"Thank you, officer. When my article hits that front page, phew, the bossman is sure to give me a raise."

"Whatever, just give me the money already..."

The moose printed an extra set and gave it to said journalists, who aptly printed it for the newspaper the next day.

The cover photo was the three members, sitting beside each other. Their faces were covered in bandages. The description in the article explained the severity of their wounds. Their eyes had been stabbed out, their tounges cut off, and the word 'savage' carved into their chests. The work of a whole group of animals was guaranteed as all three were large breeds. The headline was, as later everyone else would understand, the beginning of something truly terrible.

Three Carnivores Mutilated in Possible Hate Crime. An uprising of The Herbivores?
