Chapter 4: Fat Useless Contented House Cat

Santana didn't want a cat. She never like Lord or Lady Tubbington, and they never liked her. She was open to a dog or anything that lived in a cage but no cats. Brittany pouted everytime Santana reminded her cats were best as sexy Halloween costumes and not pets. The blonde had come to accept that she would never have another Lord Tubbington and settled for an array of stuffed cats that Santana couldn't say no to. That's why they were both surprised when the Latina came in cradling a kitten.

"Brittany!" Santana shouted "Come here quick!"

"What?!" she skidded to a halt in front of the Latina "Is that a kitten?"

"Yeah, I found on our doorstep all alone crying. We've got to help it." Santana said.

"Okay, I'll go get some kitten formula. Just stay here and get it warm okay?" Brittnay said and Santana nodded, wrapping the kitten in a hand towel and holding it close to her chest. Brittany was back as quickly as she'd left, armed with kitten formula.

"I wanted to get this to you before worrying about anything else." the blonde panted. Santana nodded, carefully feeding the kitten until it stopped and fell asleep.

"Okay. Now that he's fed I guess we better go take him to the shelter." Santana sighed.

"What? Can't we keep him?" Brittany said "What if his momma cat comes looking?"

"I didn't want to tell you Britt, but I saw mama in the road." Santana looked down at the little guy.

"So he's an orphan?" Brittany sniffled.

"Yeah babe." Santana said "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you."

"You didn't...but Santana we have to keep him. It's our rainbow kitten." the blonde said.

"Babe, I really don't want a cat…" Santana sighed.

"Please?" Brittany says "It's meant to be please please please"

"Okay. But he can't be anything liek Lord Tubbington." Satana crossed her arms. "Then you better hide your cigars." Brittany smirked looking at the little cat. "What should we name him?"

"You pick, I don't mind either way." Santana said.

"Hmmm- Let's call you Binx!" Brittany said excitedly.

"Seriously?" The Latina questioned, and seeing the blonde nod she surrendered.

Despite Santana's warnings, within days the kitten was being pampered. Brittany had piles of kitten formula, scratching posts and toys scattered everywhere. Santana had taken a bit of a liking to Binx, however she wasn't spoiling him. She did set up all his vet appointments though. With a new kitten came along every single one of their friends desperate to meet him. When Rachel and Quinn came over, Quinn couldn't stop calling Santana whipped. After all, the Latina had one rule and she'd changed it for Brittany. If only their friends knew why she'd been so quick to change her heart. The way Binx made Brittany smile told Santana that a cat wasn't something Brittany just wanted. It was something she needed. And she'd be damned if she let Brittnay frown more than necessary. Was a kitten that was still drinking milk a lot of work? Absolutely. But for Brittany, Santana was willing to bend over backwards. She knew Brittany would do the same.

Still, Binx would not become "a fat, useless, contented house cat" like he had in Hocus Pocus. Not if Santana could help it.
