Chapter 6: It's All A Bunch of Hocus Pocus
Santana was feeling better, and it was the night before Halloween. Rachel, Quinn, Blaine and Kurt were over helping putting last minute touches on everything. Cups were stacked on the table, black sharpies and silver sharpies ready to write names. The freezer was chilling booze and mixers filled the fridge. Pizza boxes were open the counters for their dinner that night while Brittany prepped snacks and food to be heated the next morning. Everyone was cooing over little Binx when he wasn't tripping them over. Orange and black streamers were strung everywhere. When the prep was done they all sat down to watch Hocus Pocus before they went home. Santana lit the candles on the ofrenda, and joined Brittany on the love seat. Blaine and Kurt left as soon as the credits rolled and Rachel and Quinn were on their way out when Quinn took a chance to look at the ofrenda. She hadn't seen one since Santana had her over once in highschool to get ready for Halloween.
"Hey San, who's everyone on the ofrenda?" Quinn asked, the Latina peeking her head above the couch.
"Family and friends." Santana answered "Brittany's grandparents, my abuelo, Finn."
Rachel joined Quinn and smiled looking at the ofrenda.
"How wonderful and cultural." she said "This is awesome. But what's this?" She pointed to the sonogram and Santana gulped.
"Britt?" Santana called out and the blonde came out of the kitchen.
"Hmm?" Brittany said, taking in the scene "Oh um well um…" she moved to Santana's side.
"We uh" Santana looked to Brittany who nodded "We had a miscarriage. Brittany I mean...we." Santana looked at her wife and hugged her close.
"Oh hun" Quinn said, offering Brittnay a hug which the blonde took gratefully.
"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to upset you…" Rachel said, and Santana shook her head.
"It's okay Rachel. But I think it's best if you both go now." Santana looked to Brittany who was clinging to Quinn.
"B, let San take care of you, yeah?" Quinn said gently. The taller blonde nodded and fell into Santana's arms. The other girls let themselves out. The wives feel asleep a few hours later, Brittany's face stained with tears.
The house was full of people the next night. Brittany was doing a bit better but the sonogram had been removed from the ofrenda for the night to avoid any more awkward encounters. Finn was front and center for the night so all their friends could see. Artie, Mercedes, and everyone else was there. Brittany took note of everyone's costumes but knew none would beat their group. Jake, Puck, Marley and Kitty were all MMs but that wasn't creative at all. The bobbing-for-apples was set up and it was quickly clear the winner would be one of them since they were the only ones wearing waterproof makeup.
In the meantime Brittany set out Monster themed snacks and treats for everyone. Pizza was also available, she'd ordered it special to be monster themed. Some of them were shaped like ghosts.
Halloween music was going all night and everyone had a blast, even though they all accused the costume contest of being rigged.
"Happy Halloween" Brittnay cheers to everyone, and Sanatana kissed her cheek. A happy Halloween it really was.
