Decided to write this since it's been a little since I wrote for this AU. Hope you enjoy!
What to do? What to do?
Erma and Izuku were both sitting inside her room, bored out of their skulls. It was raining so Izuku didn't want to play outside (Erma wouldn't have minded but most other people tended to), meaning they had to come up with something to do inside instead.
"Maybe we could watch something on the TV?" said Izuku. "Like a cartoon or a movie!"
Erma looked over at her friend and nodded, that was a great idea! Erma flew down the stairs while Izuku ran behind her. Erma came to a stop at the cabinet where they kept the movies, opened it up and-
She froze.
Inside the cabinet was her Warrior Unicorn Princess disc sets. And several of her toys.
"What were you thinking, Erma?"
And Izuku was right behind her!
On reflex, she spread out her hair like a veil and telekinetically flipped off the lights. While Izuku was distracted by the sudden darkness, she grabbed all of the incriminating merchandise and shoved it into another cabinet, out of Izuku's sight. She flicked the light back on and grabbed a nice safe slasher movie.
"That was weird," said Izuku looking around before looking back at her. "Your yokai powers often resemble something out of a horror movie right? Does that include the light flickering thing from horror movies too?"
Erma hastily nodded. That was technically true and they should go with that!
"What did you want to watch?" Izuku said scratching his neck.
Erma held up her choice. Izuku seemed to pale a bit. "T-that?"
Erma frowned and looked at the movie. Maybe this was a bad pick after all. Maybe something with heroes-
"D-don't worry! I've just never watched a horror movie before! We can watch that!" Izuku said.
Erma raised an eyebrow and pointed at him to make sure he was sure.
"Y-yes I'm sure!" he said.
She smiled and went to put it in while he got on the couch.
Izuku wasn't sure this was a good idea. Maybe he should have asked to watch something with heroes, like All Might! She'd given him the chance!
But she'd seemed upset that he didn't want to watch her pick and she was his friend! They'd watched one of his shows last time, so watching hers was the least he could do! Besides, how bad could this possibly be?
Twenty minutes later
Izuku buried his head in Erma's shoulder while clinging to her for dear life. On screen someone was getting their face ripped clean off. And Erma? Erma was laughing like it was the most wonderful thing she'd ever seen.
Well at least one of us isn't scarred for life…
As the credits rolled Erma glanced at Izuku who'd finally let go of her. He'd enjoyed the movie so much he was staring at the screen to see if there was more!
A few days later, Izuku and Erma were playing with their hero toys at Izuku's apartment, Izuku with one of his many All Mights and Erma with her Gang Orca figure. On the nearby TV, the news began reporting a successful arrest of two villains with mild gigantification quirks by the dragon hero Ryuku.
During the battle Ryuku transformed into her dragon form, smacked one villain so hard he was embedded in a nearby wall, then bit another in the arm. Erma pointed at Ryuku and bared her teeth while holding up her hands to imitate a dragon. It was more cute than scary (despite her definite ability to be scary).
"I know, her quirk's pretty cool right?" said Izuku. "I have an action figure for her normal and dragon forms! You wanna see them?
Erma opened her mouth to answer, then frowned and picked up his All Might toy. She turned it back and forth while examining it very closely. Izuku wondered what she was looking for. Wait, wasn't that a different All Might figure from before? Uh oh.
Erma turned it over one more time then began counting on her fingers. "Hey how about I grab that Ryuku figure!" Izuku said loudly.
Erma jolted, then nodded at him. Izuku got up and walked toward his room. He took one last look over his shoulder, only to see Erma walking right behind him. "H-hey Erma, why don't you wait here and uh, watch the TV and tell me what I missed!" Izuku said. Please buy that.
Erma raised an eyebrow. She didn't buy that!
Fortunately she just shrugged and walked back to the living room, allowing Izuku to go into his bedroom without her seeing the sheer volume of hero merchandise he had and learning how big of a nerd he was. Izuku grabbed his Ryuku figures and breathed a sigh of relief. So far so good. Now I just gotta keep this up for the rest of our lives…
Erma and Izuku were at the park near their home, having fun with their toys without a care in the world. Then a feral scream erupted nearby.
The blond bully Erma had skipped across the pond last time leapt through some bushes yelling, "GHOST FREAK! I WANT A REMATCH!" Erma sighed as he lunged at her with a scream of "DIE!". She dodged his explosion then used her hair to smack him into a tree a football field away.
While Izuku stared, Erma folded her arm feeling quite satisfied. Maybe now she and Izuku could get back to-
"Hey look it's Deku and the weird ghost freak."
Never mind, the annoyances keptcoming. She turned around as the explosive jerk's lackeys came out, apparently not noticing how she'd just swatted their leader like a tennis ball. Maybe her previous "fight" with them had traumatized them into delusion? Or they were just that dumb. Either was possible.
"Playing with those lame action figures again?" As if they didn't have their own action figures back home. "Have you shown the ghost your All Might collection yet Deku? I'm sure she'd love to see that!" That did sound kind of cool…
"What's wrong? Scared she'll know what a nerd you are?"
Erma glanced at Izuku, who was shrinking away from bullies, looking ashamed. Ok, time for these idiots to leave.
Erma pointed to what she'd done to the mad bomber then motioned for them to go away.
"You think we're scared of you?" One of them said.
Erma turned her fingers into claws.
They made what was probably their first good decision all day and bolted.
Erma glanced back as (what was his name? Kacchan?) ran at her like a rabid Pomeranian. She turmed to Izuku and pointed away with her thumb. Izuku nodded. Erma telekinetically picked him up and flew off.
(Granted she could just beat blondie again, but she suspected that if she continued doing that they'd be here all day.)
After traveling a safe distance, she set Izuku down. She and him played with their action figures for a while longer before going back to Izuku's home.
"Ok, what do you wanna do now?" Izuku asked. Erma shrugged.
Wait.
She looked at Izuku's All Might. Sure enough it was yet another All Might toy, with a different size and costume from the other two. She pointed at it and held up three fingers.
"Yeah," said Izuku, scratching the back of his head. "I do have three of them."
She held up more fingers.
"A-and, then some…"
She smiled at him expectantly.
"Y-you want to s-see them?" he said.
Erma nodded.
"W-well I…but…Ok." Izuku's shoulders sagged. Erma started to think she shouldn't have asked, but when he opened his door she couldn't resist peeking in.
So many posters. So many action figures!
Izuku's room was practically a shrine to heroes, All Might especially! Having a lot of toys was normal for someone their age, but this! She grinned at all of the cool and rare hero stuff. Her friend was a master nerd! He had to be the biggest All Might fan ever!
Sir Nighteye sneezed.
She turned back to him.
Izuku was looking back and forth between her and the ground while clenching his fists, his cheeks bright red. She tapped his shoulder and pointed at him with a concerned look.
"Sorry," Izuku said. "It's just kind of embarrassing showing you this. It makes me look like a massive nerd, which I kind of am, but..." he trailed off.
Erma put her hand on his shoulder and smiled. He slowly returned it. She decided though that if he was willing to show her this when it embarrassed him so much…
Fair was fair.
She motioned for him to follow her as she walked to the window, opened it and hopped out. She glanced back at Izuku to see him watching her from inside. She waved for him to follow
"Um…Erma?" He pointed down.
Right. The long drop to a painful death if you couldn't float had completely slipped her mind.
She levitated Izuku then flew home with him in tow. Erma entered through her bedroom window and dropped Izuku inside. She walked over to her toy chest and took a deep breath, her bangs covering her face. She could do this.
"E-Erma? Are you alright?"
Erma threw open her toy chest then stood aside, letting him see the contraband within.
Izuku looked between Erma to the contents of the toy chest. It was…a collection of unicorn dolls? And some posters for an accompanying TV show?
"Are you a fan of this?" he said, tapping one of her posters.
Erma stiffly nodded. Why was she acting so embarrassed? This wasn't even close to the number of action figures he had. Granted due to her interest in horror he wouldn't have expected her to-
Oohhhhh.
Izuku swallowed. He hoped he didn't mess this up. "I don't think it's a bad thing you like this!" he said. "I mean I like heroes so why can't you like-" He glanced at one of her posters for the show's name , "Warrior Unicorn Princess? It's not like it make you any less cool or-"
Erma enveloped Izuku in a crushing hug, lifting him off the ground. Izuku smiled at his friend's embrace. He would have returned it, but he was starting to have trouble breathing. And starting to feel lightheaded. Pretty colors…
Erma dropped Izuku and had the decency to look sheepish while he caught his breath. She then pointed at the poster and pointed downstairs.
"You want us to watch that?" he said.
She nodded, her face getting really close to his with an eager grin. On the one hand, he wasn't really interested in a girl's show about unicorns. On the other, Erma's smile.
The smile won. "O-ok…" said Izuku, inching away with a slight blush.
Erma grabbed him by the hand and yanked him downstairs before setting up the TV.
This will be way more relaxing than that horror movie. he thought. I mean, how intense could a girl's cartoon about a colorful unicorn possibly get?
He stared slack jawed as one of the characters was brutally stabbed in the chest. He slowly picked up her DVD case and looked at the bright happy cover. He turned back to the brutal battle ensuing onscreen.
Talk about false advertising…
Hope you enjoyed! Reviews make me smile!
