"I don't want to marry him," Kagome yelled.

"It was not a matter of wanting my child, it is a way to keep our people safe." her mother said as she wiped away a tear from her daughter's cheek. "You will be well taken care of," she tried to be assuring.

"This is all Kikyo's fault, if she hadn't gone and eloped with Inuyasha I'd be free to do as I please" she whined.

"How dare you speak of me that way," Kikyo walked in outraged by her sister's words.

"You don't care about anyone but yourself, it was your honour as the eldest sister" she wailed. "Kikyo you took my choice away from me, now I must be a slave to the Lord of the West"

"Don't be so dramatic sister, he isn't enslaving you. You are becoming his wife," her sister corrected.

Kagome turned away from her mother and sister. Two maids quietly walked in, so they could dress her in her wedding kimono. They worked fast and efficiently, it only took fifteen minutes. One of the maids worked on her hair, and the other her makeup.

With tears in her eyes her mother choked "You are the most beautiful bride my dear."

Kikyo crossed her arms, feeling the dig her mother took. She knew Kagome was the favorite, and their mother took any chance to make Kikyo feel second best. At least she was happy with Inuyasha, she had made the right choice in marrying him. He would do anything for her, and loved her more than his own life. Kagome would never get that from Sesshomaru. Kikyo left without another word.

As Kikyo walked out, their father walked in. "Do you not wish to be a part of the celebration daughter?" he asked.

"I will be at the ceremony, but mother is playing favorites and I will not stand anymore of it," she bowed and left.

His arms spread out with love in his eyes, "Dear daughter do not cry over things you have no control over. You must rejoice of the wonderful things to come." He pulled a small box out of his pocket, and opened it. There was a beautiful hair comb inside, the maid bowed and placed it in Kagome's hair.

"Perfect," her parents said in unison.

"Thank you father, it's beautiful. I love both of you and will miss you so much. Now go before I start crying again." Kagome watched both of her parents leave, and looked at herself in the mirror. She always wanted to wear this kimono, and she did feel beautiful. "You can do this Kagome," she said to herself. She motioned for the maids to get the doors.
