Emma tried for three days to get Regina to talk to her. She had texted, called and even come to her office, but the Queen wouldn't entertain her. Her texts went unread, her calls were not answered, and she had been turned away three times by her secretary.
She had thought about going to Mayor's house and using her key to let herself in but she didn't want to corner the beautiful brunette because she knew how skittish she could be when she felt trapped so she had vetoed that idea almost as soon as it entered her mind.
She still hadn't spoken to her parents, and she had taken the week off work. She felt like she deserved a break after the shit show that her life had become in the past few weeks.
Henry had stayed over a few times, but every time she had tried to mention his mom, he had glared at her until she snapped her mouth shut. He had told her the day that they had argued, well it wasn't really an argument but more like Emma being an idiot and Regina reacting the only way she knew how anyway he had said he wasn't getting involved and apparently he had told his mom the same.
She had spent the nights she didn't have her son in the Rabbit Hole with Killian and, surprisingly, Bird Boy. He wasn't nearly as annoying when he wasn't trying to pursue Regina and shouting about being her soulmate. It seemed like he had actually given up on the Stunning Mayor and since she was no longer trying to compete with him, she found they had a lot in common.
He and Killian had gotten extremely close. They spent nearly all of their time together and she found herself wondering if there was something more than friendship between them, but she never asked. She knew Killian would tell her eventually they were basically best friends, and they rarely kept secrets from one another.
She sighed as she pulled up outside of the diner; she turned off the engine and grabbed her phone before she got out and locked it up.
The moment she walked in the door, she felt everyone's eyes on her, and it puzzled her for a second before she heard a laugh that she would recognize anywhere. she followed the sound with her eyes, and her heart dropped into her stomach at what she saw.
Regina was sitting staring at her, looking more beautiful than ever, smiling widely, as Maleficent whispered something in her ear. The scene made Emma feel sick and she wanted to bolt, but she didn't get a chance because the other person that was sitting at the Mayors and Dragons' table had noticed her and had rushed over.
'Em's, it's been a while', gushed Lily, as she stopped to give Emma a hug before she pulled back and kissed her cheek.
Regina watched the disgusting display with narrowed eyes. She was still upset with the gorgeous blonde saviour, but that didn't mean she wanted to see someone else fawning all over her. Emma was still her best friend. She just didn't want to talk to her or look at her right now, though it seemed like she didn't have much of a choice.
She scowled as she watched Lily drag her over to their table.
'You don't mind if Emma joins us, do you?' questioned Lily with a smirk towards her mother, completely ignoring the mayor's scowl. She was well aware of the feelings between them and she knew her mom was, too.
'No, of course not,' said Mal, smiling.
Emma cringed internally. She hoped the dragon would say no, because, you know, her parents had literally stolen her baby and took Emma's potential darkness and placed it in it to Lily's egg and then proceeded to throw the egg into a portal and then Emma had tried to murder her years later, granted that was mainly Regina's fault but still.
She didn't want to sit with them, but she couldn't think of a good enough excuse to get away, so she sat anyway. She looked up and caught Regina scowling at her before the mayor ducked her head and resumed eating her salad.
There was a brief, uncomfortable silence, but Lily broke it.
'I heard you and Killian broke up and he punched you in the face.',
Regina's head snapped up and a vicious expression came over her face. "I will fucking castrate him!" she growled furiously.
Emma smirked. It seemed like the mayor still cared, after all. She vaguely thought of going along with what Lily had said, but then she remembered that Hook was her friend and he didn't deserve that kind of treatment. She decided to tell the whole story instead.
'he didn't punch me. I tripped and fell face-first into my bedside table when I was trying to pick up my phone that was ringing on my bed. I didn't end up answering the phone in time and then the kitchen caught on fire and while I was putting it out, I ended up missing two more calls. I meant to ring the person back, but I got sidetracked trying to clean myself up,' she explained.
'Wow Em, you don't have much luck, do you?' Lily laughed.
'No!' she exclaimed. 'These last few weeks have been an absolute nightmare!'
'Maybe you need to take a trip out of Storybrooke, ' suggested Mal.
'Why did you break up with Captin Crunch?', asked Regina curiously. Was Emma still hung up on their kiss like she was?
Emma panicked. She wasn't ready to come out again, especially after the way it had gone with her parents. Yes, she wanted to confess her love, but not in a diner full of people, and certainly not while Regina was barely talking to her.
'He cheated on me!' she exclaimed.
She heard Lily gasp dramatically beside her.
'With whom?' Inquired the mayor suspiciously. For some reason that didn't sit right with her, she couldn't imagine anyone would willingly cheat on Emma. She also found she was a bit hurt that the reason wasn't for her. She had broken up with Robin because he wasn't Emma.
Fuck, she wasn't prepared for that question either and wasn't sure what name to use. The obvious choice would have been Robin since there was something about that when they broke up, but apparently, her mouth had different ideas.
'The blue fairy, ' she blurted.
She heard twin snorts coming from Lily and Mal while Regina looked at her strangely.
'The unwashed pirate cheated on you with a self-righteous nun? That doesn't sound right, replied the mayor sceptically. Was Emma lying to her? She never had before.
'I'm not lying. He thinks she might be pregnant... With his baby', declared Emma. Omfg, why had she said that? Killian was going to kill her. If blue didn't turn her into a bug first, she should probably get some tips from Archie just in case. She really hoped it was ladybird they're super cool.
Regina threw her head back and laughed. It was Emma's favourite sound, and she found herself beaming goofily before she remembered they were fighting and straightened her face.
'Have you been eating those brownies again, Emma? Smirked the mayor once she had composed herself. There's no way the blonde was telling the truth, but why was she lying?
'Gina! shh, my parents might be listening' whined Emma as she looked around the diner nervously.
'Your parents don't approve of baked goods? God, they're so boring.' Lily cackled.
'Emma huffed. 'What? No! That's not what she meant.'
'Darling, we should go. We need to pack, ' spoke Mal sweetly to Regina.
Emma looked confused 'Pack! Are you going somewhere?' She asked. Why hadn't the Queen told her, were they not even friends anymore?
Regina furrowed her eyebrows 'We're going out of Storybrooke for the weekend. Henry didn't tell you?' Regina assumed he would have. She had thought about telling her herself, but she was still mad about what Emma said.
'No! You should have told me,' she shouted.
'Why? You said your world didn't revolve around me, so why would you care?' Regina yelled back.
'You ignored me for a whole week and then just expected me to drop everything when you called, ' countered Emma
'I needed time to think. I called to apologize,' revealed the mayor.
'Well, how was I supposed to know that? Enjoy your weekend away. I'll make sure I look after OUR son' spat Emma.
Regina turned away. She was seconds away from losing her temper, the blonde knew exactly how to push her buttons.
Emma glanced at Mal again and something clicked. A blonde with a black leather jacket, a yellow blouse, blue eyes that turned green when she was in dragon form... Oh God, she felt sick and she could feel the tears gathering in her eyes. She needed to get out of here.
'Em, are you okay? You look like you're about to cry, said Lily, worriedly.
After hearing what Lily had said, Regina spun around quickly and her eyes instantly connected with teary green ones. Her anger instantly deflated and her heart broke.
'No, I have to go', the saviour choked out before she bolted towards the diner door.
A second later, the mayor vanished from the table in a cloud of purple smoke, leaving Lily utterly confused by what had just occurred.
'Huh? Those two are so strange'
'It's called love sweetheart', smirked Mal.
'Yeah, that's disgusting
'Oh really? Do you think I can't see you checking out ruby?'
'You're one to talk! we all see the way you and Zee look at each other, ' Lily shot back.
'That's because we're in love, ' confessed Mal, smiling brightly.
Outside, Emma had gotten about ten steps away from the diner when Regina materialised right in front of her.
'Emma, what's wrong?' she queried.
Nothing, I just need to be alone, ' replied the blonde, avoiding eye contact.
'You can tell me, Emma, we're still best friends,' replied the mayor gently.
Yeah? Well, you haven't acted like it recently. I've been trying to tell you something for weeks now!
Regina took a deep breath. It was now or never 'I know and I'm sorry, but Em, I have something I need to tell you too, I lo-' she started before she was rudely interrupted.
'HILARIOUS NEWS; BLUE IS ABOUT TO MURDER HOOK IN THE LIBRARY BECAUSE HE GOT HER PREGNANT' bellowed Leroy as he ran down main street.
'Shit!' Exclaimed Emma as she grabbed the mayor's hand and dragged her to the bug 'get in' she ordered.
Regina did what she was told but only because she wanted to watch Captin stupid get vaporized and then she wanted to watch the moth get arrested hopefully she would resist and Emma would have to go all bad cop on her, she loved when Emma got authoritative it was sexy as hell and it made her knees weak. Her breathing deepened as her mind started playing fantasies of a dominant saviour.
It was all ruined two minutes later when said Saviour's voice cut through her thoughts 'Are you coming?'
'No, but I could have been, ' she muttered as she got out of the car.
They entered the library, and it was chaos. Apparently, the whole town had turned up. They could see Blue, Hook and Robin, Ruby and Granny, Snow and charming, Lily, Mal and Zelena. How the fuck had they gotten there before them? Henry was there with Grace, and Belle was standing with Gold, who was standing next to Whale and was that Kathryn and Fredrick, and Tinker Bell? What the hell?
Emma pushed her way to the front of the crowd just in time to see Blue wack Hook with her handbag.
'Why are you telling people you impregnated me?' She screamed.
Killian jumped back, trying to dodge her as she repeatedly bashed him 'What? I did not. Also, what the fuck is in your bag? Rocks!? He exclaimed.
'Huh? I thought you were with Emma?' Spoke Whale in confusion.
'I thought you were with Robin. I saw you kissing by the docks, ' chimed in Ruby.
'I thought robin was with Regina?' Fredrick whispered to Kathryn.
But Emma heard it loud and clear 'Regina is with Mal', she sneered bitterly.
'What?' Puzzled Regina.
'No! Mal is with Zelena, ' blurted Snow.
'That was a secret, for fuck's sake, ' cried Zelena.
Seriously? You know my reputation. I have no idea why you still tell me stuff,' smirked Snow.
'We're in love Zee, embrace it, ' chuckled Mal.
'Fine, I love you, like a lot, but it's still Disgusting' whined Zelena.
'Weird, I thought Zelena liked Ruby, ' piped up Belle.
'No, Ruby likes Lily' added Gold.
'Regina broke up with me she said her feeling for me were dead before she slammed the door in my face. she's in love with Emma'. Revealed Robin.
'And Emma broke up with me because she's in love with Regina and also I cheated on her, ' declared Hook.
'They kissed in the bathroom at the family dinner I wasn't invited to... Again huffed Zelena with a scowl.
Emma and Regina froze before they slowly turned to face each other, both sporting flushed cheeks.
'You're in love with me?' They asked simultaneously.
'Yes,' they answered, again in perfect sync.
'Oh my fucking god' they chourused before giggling at each other.
They then smiled big beautiful smiles while staring into each other's eyes, but the moment was broken by their son's big mouth as he screeched.
'Oh my God!! it was you two that had true loves kiss'
'Excuse me, what?' Squeaked Regina.
Henry sighed 'I told you.. Remember when Robin tripped over Neals toy and cried, then Killian grabbed Gramps' butt? Well, it all happened because someone had true loves kiss while you two were in the bathroom!'
'Oh, is that what you said? I thought you said you tripped Robin over,' laughed Emma.
'Dude, what the hell? You said that was an accident I thought you were my best friend and best friends don't touch each other butts' hissed David.
'No, they just kiss each other's lips better, ' teased Emma to Regina, who smirked sexily Right back.
'The excuse was there, so I took it' she laughed.
Killian didn't hear what David said as he grabbed Robin's hands 'I'm over my crush now, Robbie, I promise. I only have eyes for you,' he rushed out.
'I know, killi. I believe you,' reassured Robin with a smile.
'Oh, it kind of makes sense now,' laughed Snow, while her husband scowled at her.
'Well, My Majesty, that seals the deal. Now you have to be my girlfriend. I guess true love trumps soulmates' Smirked Emma.
Soulmates can be platonic, you know, doesn't anyone ever listen to me? Griped Tinkerbell.
But literally no one was paying attention to her, which only proved her point.
'Hmm, I guess I could do worse, now come here' Demanded Regina to Emma as she pulled her towards her by her belt loops, flung her arms around her neck and kissed her passionately.
'I've been craving these lips for eleven days now, ' the saviour whispered breathlessly once they pulled back.
'Mmm, me too. You ruined kisses with anybody else for me, ' chuckled the Mayor.
Something in Emma's brain suddenly clicked, and she turned to Robin.
'OMFG!! she was talking about me!' She exclaimed, excitedly.
'Wow, congratulations, you finally got it, ' drawled Robin as he clapped slowly.
Emma shot him a glare 'Fuck off Bird Boy, I stole your woman' she growled.
Robin snorted, 'and I stole your man' he shot back.
'He wasn't mine our whole relationship was fake. You actually stole him from my dad, only he had no idea he had him in the first place... So, Ha!' she replied with a smug smile.
'I was already yours, my dear. You didn't need to steal me' cut in Regina before she kissed Emma again. She would never get tired of those lips.
'You're so adorable, baby' gushed Emma.
'I am not. I will kill you in your sle-' pouted Regina, but Emma just giggled and kissed the pout away. Damn, she loved this woman with all her heart.
'Hand over the money peasants and also that's gross, can't you wait until you are in private. I don't need any more therapy'
All the townspeople grumbled as they searched their pockets and handed wads of cash over to Henry.
'You could have gotten together last month, ' grumbled Granny.
'You were betting on us?' Gaped Regina.
'You all knew?' Gasped Emma.
'Of course we did. You two are about as subtle as a tornado, ' laughed Snow.
'But I tried to tell you and you acted like you had no idea what I was talking about. You thought I loved her as my best friend and that we were going to be roommates and have bunk beds with a slide and a ball pool then you made out like you thought I meant I wanted her to be my deputy sheriff and after that when I told I was gay, you assumed I meant happy and told me you were also gay because had amazing family and friends' yelled Emma, outraged.
'Yes, well, that's what you get for trying to bullshit your parents. It was payback, and it was hilarious!' Shrugged the School Teacher.
'You are literally the worst parents. I thought you were the good guys, ' groaned Emma.
'I'm kind of impressed, ' smirked Regina.
'Me too. I never thought you had it in you, snowflake, ' added Zelena with a wicked grin.
Snow beamed at the praise.
'I told you, honey, ' smiled David.
'You're all fucking dickheads, ' pouted Emma.
'But you love us, ' counted Regina with a smile as she wrapped her arms around her saviour's neck and pulled her closer.
'I love you, the rest of them are debatable, ' the blonde muttered.
'I love you too, my dear, and you still owe me dinner, so how about you get right on that?' Reminded Regina.
'IS BLUE PREGNANT WITH KILLIAN'S BABY OR NOT?' yelled Lily. that was the only reason she had come here.
'NO!!' Shouted the whole library simultaneously.
'Right well, this was eventful, but I have better things to do, ' she replied before she grabbed Ruby's hand and dragged her out of the library.
Everyone else started to leave soon after and in the end it was only Emma and Regina left.
'Don't you have to pack?' Asked Emma, trying to keep the sadness out of her voice.
'Mal, was only taking me on that trip because I was depressed over you and she thought we needed a break from each other to realise our feelings. I'm sure she'll be more than happy to take Zelena instead'
'Yeah?' Replied Emma, trying to keep the excitement out if her voice but failing.
Regina smiled softly 'Yes, we have a lot of time to make up for and I don't want to waste another second'
'Right, well, we should probably go then, ' spoke Emma before she picked Regina up.
'Emma' squealed the Queen as she wrapped her legs tightly around her girlfriend's waist.
Emma laughed loudly in her ear 'to the bedroom' she said in her lowest voice as she put her first in the air like a super hero and with that they vanished in a cloud of white smoke, probably to make those badass evilSaviour babies they both wanted.
Emma may not have gotten to use her big romantic gesture plan, but she felt like the way everything just happened, fitted right in with how abnormal her life had become, and she also found, she didn't mind one bit. She had the family she always dreamed of and that was enough for her.
