(OC) Akeelah Johnson
Rita was snooping around the school grounds, looking for any gossiping student and use their words to think up a good story to publish in the Daily Prophet. The truth-hating journalist was flying around in her animagus form (which took on the form of a beetle that had red markings resembling her red glasses), making it easier to snoop around without getting caught. As a matter of fact, Rita was also an unregistered animagus and that allowed her to get away with her crimes. As the crazy journalist flew out into the woods, she heard some unspecified talking going on. The closer she got, she spotted her favourite celebrity, Harry Potter, and he was accompanied by a girl with dark skin, dark-brown eyes, and black hair in a high ponytail. She was even dressed in a pair of jeans, a pink blouse, and a pair of black-and-red striped converse sneakers with red shoelaces.
'That girls looks an awful lot like Miss Angelina Johnson!' thought Rita as she examined the girl.
So she flew closer to Harry and the girl who looked like Angelina to listen in on them to see if they had anything worthy enough to be turned into a story. Not long after Rita landed on the girls arm did she notice and pluck the 'beetle' off and show it to Harry. The raven-haired boy examined the so-called beetle and whipped his wand out upon spotting the markings resembling red glasses. He cast the cancelling charm, resulting in Rita reverting back to her original form, much to the shock of Harry and his female companion. Then they glared at the truth-hating journalist while they folded their arms across their chests.
"So now we know how Skeeter has been getting around undetected!" said Harry triumphantly. "Since I saw Malfoy and Parkinson speaking lies about me and Hermione to a beetle and the next thing that happened, those stories ended up published in the Daily Prophet, written by you, you insane writer."
"Which is bad enough!" the girl snapped at Rita. "But publishing those damn cock-and-bull stories using Harry's and Hermione's names without their permission makes that even worse. I don't even think you're a registered animagus, Skeeter."
"Well, pardon me, Angelina!" Rita replied in a sarcastic tone of voice.
"Do you really think I'm Angelina?!" growled the girl. "I'm her sister, Akeelah, or Keely for short, a third-year Gryffindor. You either must be very stupid or you have a terrible photographic memory."
"What's with you and Harry being together?" asked Rita, trying to be nosy for the umpteenth time.
"It started at the Quidditch World Cup," Keely explained. "Harry was returning to the Weasleys' tent with a bucket of water and we bumped into each other by accident, which caused the bucket of water to dump some water on me. Harry apologized profusely for that, even when I assured him that the apology was accepted. Then he pulled me up back onto my feet and we got to talking after we introduced ourselves to each other. After he got the bucket back to the campsite where the Weasleys were, Harry came back and found me waiting outside of my family's tent. Harry was shocked to see Angie inside, then she and I properly introduced Harry to our parents."
"We even started exchanging letters for the rest of the holidays, until the school year started," Harry told the truth-despising journalist. "I was also surprised to learn that Keely's best friends were also sisters to Katie and Alicia. I found out that Katie's sister's name is Karley, who appeared to be smitten with Neville. I also found out that Alicia's sister's name is April. Like Keely, Karley and April are also third-year Gryffindors. Even they were among the smaller number of students to be on my side and believe me to be innocent when the majority of the student body began despising me just because my name spewed from the goblet of fire."
"Don't even bother trying to get a story written about me and Harry!" Keely warned Rita in a rather dangerous voice. "My daddy, Andre, works for the ministry, in the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Beasts, in the Office of Misinformation. He'd be furious with you to print my name in an article and have it published without his and my mummy's consent."
"Now's the time for you to get your well-deserved punishment, beetle." said Harry in a delighted voice.
Rita felt her body trembling in fear, but she reached into a pocket to whip her wand out in a last-ditch attempt to save her secret of being an unregistered animagus. That was enough for Harry to send a couple stinging hexes at the egotistical journalist, and Keely sending a couple stinging hexes herself for good measure. Rita helped when she felt the stinging hexes hitting her hands and even began shaking them to get the pain to recede.
"Don't bother trying, Skeeter," warned Harry in a no-nonsense voice. "We already know your secret."
"Anymore stunts and you'll just make it worse." Keely warned Rita.
Before Rita could do anything else, she felt something picking her up by the back of her coat and lifting her up off the ground. The crazy journalist started flinging her arms and legs around trying to get back on the ground. She turned her head around and spotted a unicorn that appeared to have an angry look on it's face. What shocked Rita even more was when she witnessed not only Keely, but Harry petting the unicorn. It neighed affectionately at both teens, causing Rita to drop her jaw incredulously (since she knew that adult unicorns prefered a woman's touch).
"We found one of the foals belonging to this unicorn a while ago," Harry and Keely revealed. "We brought the foal back to it's parents and they were both grateful to us. The unicorn that has a hold of you is the mother and she has a surprise punishment in mind for you."
At those words, the unicorn turned around and carried Rita by the back of her coat on it's horn, with Harry and Keely following behind (making sure to stay a reasonable distance to avoid getting kicked). When the unicorn brought Rita to it's herd, the other adults unicorns and their foals approached the unicorn with Rita and began neighing in aggressive manner at the truth-rejecting journalist. The foals started jumping up to bite Rita for a few minutes, then the adult unicorn that had the journalist in it's horn flung her upwards, making her scream like a banshee. The adult unicorns began pushing Rita into the air with their horns and keeping her off the ground for as long as possible, which made Harry and Keely laugh like crazy. After five minutes of enduring being tossed in the air, Rita fell back to the ground and landed on her neck at such an angle that it snapped, killing her instantly. The rest of the unicorn herd began dragging Rita's corpse away. The female unicorn that brought Rita to the herd approached Keely and got down on it's stomach to allow her to get on. The male unicorn did the same for Harry, while the foal jumped up ecstatically as it neighed happily.
"I'm looking forward to the unicorns showing us more of the woods!" said keely ecstatically.
"Yeah, me too!" Harry replied, equally ecstatic.
The teens smiled at each other as the unicorns they were riding began walking off into the woods, with the foal following closely. Harry and Keely even made occasional checks to make sure the foal didn't get into danger. With Rita gone for good, the Daily Prophet was free to repair it's reputation and hire more competent employees. For Harry, he no longer had to deal with the beetle (either directly or indirectly). For once, things were looking up.
The End!
