Author's note 1: Here's another one-shot where Harry doesn't make an appearance until near the end.

Luna Lovegood (2)

Rita was flying around the school grounds of Hogwarts while in her animagus beetle form, trying to find any group of gossiping students (since they're like a goldmine for the journalist). Since she couldn't find anyone outside, the truth-hating journalist flew inside the castle in hopes of finding more students. Moments later, Rita spotted a door open that led to the third floor corridor on the right hand side (the same one that had Fluffy there three years earlier). The door was open enough for the beetle to crawl through and once she was in the corridor, the door closed quickly and locked just as Rita reverted back to her original form unwillingly. Then everything went dark for a minute before it lit up again, taking on the form of being in outer space. Rita looked down and saw that she was 'floating' in the outer space sky, even though her feet were still on solid ground. Then a girl with curly dirty-blonde hair and pale-silvery eyes showed up and skipped her way towards Rita. The girl was wearing a gray long-sleeve t-shirt with a blue short-sleeve t-shirt over it, a pair of jean shorts, and a pair of black converse sneakers decorated with silver stars and gray shoelaces. She even had a necklace made of butterbeer corks around her neck and radishes for earrings. The girl was smiling for some reason, one that Rita couldn't figure out.

"Hello, Skeeter!" the girl greeted in a dreamy voice.

"Who are you?" asked Rita.

"Oh, I'm Luna Lovegood! A third year Ravenclaw." the girl introduced herself.

"What's going on here?" asked Rita.

"You've just entered the fantasy realm," Luna explained. "This outer space sky is an obstacle before you enter my happy place, with a special friend."

"Who is your special friend?" asked Rita, trying to be nosy.

"Not telling!" Luna replied in a singsong voice like a defiant child.

"I insist you tell me who your special friend is!" snapped Rita.

"Nuh-uh!" Luna replied in the same singsong voice, placing her thumbs on the sides of her head and waving her hands in a mocking manner.

"Then we won't leave until you do." said Rita.

"Fine by me," said Luna slyly. "I'll just go and inform my special friend that our time in here will have to drag on."

Luna turned around and began skipping away. Then Rita whipped her wand out, aimed it at Luna and cast the summoning charm. Luna responded with an ecstatic 'weeee!' as she flew towards Rita. Once she was close enough, Luna used the heel of her left foot to kick Rita in the nose, making stars dance through the journalist's vision. Luna used that moment to start skipping away. However, it didn't take Rita long to recover, since she aimed her wand at Luna and again used the summoning charm. Luna responded the same way as she flew back towards the crazy journalist. This time, Luna conked Rita on the side of her head when she was close enough, making the journalist walked all dazed and actually fall to the ground.

"Oh, such a shame for you to get infested with Wrackspurts." Luna responded in mock sympathy.

This time, Luna started skipping away backwards with a smug grin on her face. Rita ignored that and (when she recovered) whipped her wand out a third time, aimed it at Luna and summoned her once again. This time, Luna punched out with her right fist and whacked Rita in the jaw, causing her to topple over and hit the floor that was still disguised by the stars of outer space. Luna turned around and tried skipping away, yet again. After recovering once more, Rita got back onto her feet and tried summoning Luna to her, for the fourth time. When she felt herself flying back towards the truth-rejecting journalist, Luna pulled her knees close to her chest and when she was close enough, Luna aimed her feet at Rita's face before kicking her there with both of her feet with everything she had. Rita flew backwards by six or seven feet before landing on her rear. The force of that stunned Rita as some pain slithered down her spine.

"See ya!" Luna taunted the journalist in her singsong voice.

Then she began skipping away and making sure it was fast enough to where she was out of radius from the journalist to ensure she couldn't be summoned again. Rita recovered again and tried jogging after Luna (who seemed to have disappeared out in the distance of the infinite beyond), until the crazy journalist ran smack into some kind of force. Rita fell backwards onto the stone floor, causing more pain in her spine. When Rita looked up, the outer space sky disappeared and the corridor returned to normal. Upon getting back on her feet, Rita saw a door and opened it. She found a trap door and walked over to it, opened it and jumped in. When she made it to the bottom, she was hit with a stunning spell before being tied up in magic-suppression rope. After coming to, Rita saw Luna standing next to Harry, both of whom had smug grins on their faces.

"How nice of you to drop in, Skeeter!" Harry responded in an agitated voice.

"I was hoping to speak to you, Harry." Rita fibbed, trying to conceal her colly-wobbles with little success.

"Too bad, Skeeter," said Harry coldly. "I have no use in associating myself with someone who pushes me into the bloody spotlight against my will in any way. Now's the time for you to suffer the consequences."

With that decision, Harry and Luna untied the rope around Rita and dragged her over to the door leading to the room where the flying keys were held three years earlier. Harry opened it and (with Luna's help) shoved the truth-despising journalist inside the room. Both of the doors locked to prevent Rita from escaping. She checked her surroundings and saw some strange creatures that resembled tabby cats with blue fur and green eyes. The only difference was that these cats weren't like the domesticated cats, these cats were vicious because they were growling at the now-terrified Rita.

"Those creatures are called Ghost Cats!" Luna's magnified voice bellowed out to Rita. "They have the ability to make themselves invisible with their meowing sounding spooky-like. They won't hesitate to eat anybody who threatens or slanders people who've earned their trust."

That was when the countless number of strange cats turned themselves invisible and began biting and clawing a screaming Rita until she bled out and died from hypovolemic shock. Then the cats began feasting on Rita's corpse. Harry and Luna began dancing as a way of celebrating Rita's permanent downfall before planting a passionate kiss on the lips. Then Dobby apparated them over to the prefects' bathroom so the two could have a a nice soak in the bathtub shaped like a swimming pool. With Rita gone for good, the Daily Prophet now had a chance at repairing it's reputation. Things were beginning to look up.

The End!

Author's note 2: I'd like to give a shoutout to the user 'magitech' for suggesting that Rita use her wand to stop Luna from skipping away by means of summoning her. While I had Luna use punches and kicks to attack the journalist as she flew closer, the main idea belongs to magitech.
