Chapter Twenty-Nine
Take A Break She Says
Three days after the battle, morning.
Sona is currently looking down and is in deep contemplation. 'Should I or shouldn't I?' Is what she thinks to herself.
This wouldn't be so much a debate if her sister wasn't there. Where she is looking is a hospital bed in her mansion where Kenichi is lying. Her sister is lying naked with him on his left side.. 'It's not I haven't done this already with her in the bed with him, but I just hate giving in to my sister's fetishes.' She smacks her cheeks. 'This is for his health. It's a good thing I love him. I wish he would wake already.'
She undresses and climbs into the abnormally large hospital bed and lies naked on the other side of him. She cautiously presses herself against him and gently lays her head on his chest. Her sister peaks open one eye and gives a small smirk as she takes a glance at her sister. They both share their energy with him.

That evening.
It is now just Izumi lying in the hospital bed with him. She lies peacefully with a very pleasant smile on her face. Her head is nuzzled into his chest.
Kenichi's eyes begin to crack open . Things are blurry at first, bust his eyes adjust and he realizes where he is at. "Familiar ceiling." He mumbles. His voice sounds a little gravelly as he spoke and he clears his throat. He could tell that part of him was weighed down and he looks to see who it was, but all he could see was black hair. He could also tell the person's leg was draped over his. He strokes her back and she slightly stirs. His eyes go wide when he realizes who it was that was lying on him as she looks up.
Izumi rubs her eyes lightly. "Kenichi, you're awake!" She says cheerfully.
Then she comes to a realization and slowly looks down and lifts up the covers enough for her to peek inside. It hits them both that that she is completely naked and they turn beat red.
"W-W-W-Wait a m-m-minute. I was in wolf form when I climbed into the bed with you."
"Indeed you were, but at some point you changed and got under the covers." Comes the Doctor's voice.
'Not to mention you practically dry humped him.' Blackie muses to himself from the foot of the bed.
Next to the doctor was a girl that seems to be scowling. She uncrosses her arms and uses one of them to adjust her glasses.
"So, let me get this straight. You don't wake up while Kisara and I were lying naked in the bed with you. You don't even wake up when it was both my sister and I naked in the bed with you. But, you wake up when Izumi was in there with you."
"How was I supposed to know who was in the bed with me? I was unconscious."
Izumi was going to get up and run away, but Sona holds out a hand to stop her. "No. Just stay there."
Serafall jumps onto the bed on the other side of him and wraps her arms around his neck. She gives him a hug. "I am just so glad that you finally woke up. You had us really worried."
Sona chimes in again. "Between your injuries and all of the poison in you, you nearly died on us several times."
The doctor gulps as he remembers how Serafall threatened to terminate him if Kenichi died.
"Wow. Really?" Kenichi questions.
"We are so so so so happy you are alive. I thought that I was going to have to beat somebody up over this. I still can if you want." The magical maou tells him cheerfully.
"No. That's quite all right." He replies while patting her head. 'We don't need her blowing up part of the planet just for me.' That very slight movement made him fully realize that he was still recovering. He felt very heavy.
Serafall pouts. "What would be wrong with that?"
Sona looks at him curiously. She cants her head to one side and then the other. Then, she walks up to the bed and feels his forehead. Then she even feels hers.
"Um. Is something wrong?" He asks.
"Where did it go?"
"Where did what go?"
Serafall looks at him as well. "Your piece changed to a mutated piece."
He points at himself. "I did?"
"You don't recall?" Asks Sona.
He shakes his head. "When did it happen?"
"It happened when Kokabiel threatened to shoot me and throw Kisara to the ground. You didn't feel a power grow inside of you?"
He scratches the back of his head and laughs slightly. "I thought that was adrenaline.
Sona sighs and face palms.
"But, there was something interesting I heard just before it happened now that I think back on it."
"What is that?" Izumi asks.
"Well, did anybody have a staff with rings on it?"
All of the women in the room look at each other and shake their heads.
"I don't recall anybody with anything like that." Blackie chimes in.
"Did you see something like that?" Serafall asks.
"I didn't actually see it, but I heard chimes and a quick image of that came to my head when I heard those chimes. I didn't think anything of it at first. Can the power just go away?"
Sona touches her chin in thought. "That is very odd. And, to answer your question, no. The power cannot just go away."
Serafall furrows her eyebrows in annoyance.
"Is something wrong, sister?" Asks Sona.
"It's possible someone else helped him, but I cannot figure out who, why, or even how." Then she changes to a really happy mood. "But, it was really awesome to hear that my Kenichi did what he did!"
Sona's eye twitches.
Just then the door abruptly swings open. Kisara is standing there with an exasperated maid behind her.
"Why didn't you guys get me sooner?" Kisara shouts. Her joy of being able to see Kenichi awake gets shattered when she notices Izumi and Serafall in the bed with him. The covers were just right so that the Maou wasn't on them.
Izumi gets frightened at the sight of Kisara and goes to hide under the covers, but Kisara rushes over.
"Kisara, wait." Sona says, but gets ignored.
Blackie jumps off the bed in preparation of what's about to happen.
Kisara yanks the covers off the bed and gets a sight of Izumi's naked body next to Kenichi's. Feeling embarrassed by her exposure, Izumi screams and runs away.
'She could have just transformed into her wolf form.' The cat thinks to himself. 'Oh, well. I guess I'll tell her that later. Maybe.'
Not sure of what else to say because he is also embarrassed, Kenichi just simply asks "Could I please have the covers back. After he gets the covers back, He notices that Kisara has dark circles under eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asks.
The red head grumbles a little bit in annoyance.
"She's stayed up most of the time since the battle trying to keep an eye on you despite her own injuries."
Kisara looks at her angrily. "You didn't have to tell him that."
"You did that for me, but how are you feeling?"
Kisara just turns her head in embarrassment.
This time, it is the doctor that chimes in. "She is doing well. She is just exhausted. Asia healed her, but she needs time to recover from the blood loss. She didn't lose enough to need a transfusion. It would have been a slight inconvenience to try to get regular human blood here."
"I never understood why they always have you drink apple juice, but damn is it good." Kisara adds.
"All right, I must ask all of you to leave. I need to do some checkups now that he is awake." The vampire doctor says.
"Very well, we shall talk later." Says Sona.
Kisara wasn't budging, but Sona grabs her by the hand and pulls her away.
"Hey, I just barely got here!" Shouts Kisara.
"By the way, your parents have been calling constantly about you. I told them that you have been at a special hospital because of a car accident. They have been very persistent."

Later on, Kenichi's room.
Kenichi was sitting on his bed. He was reading a book about angels. He also had a couple of other books next to him. One of them was about werewolves, and the other was about finding hidden energy through meditation.
A small knock was performed by a petite girl with glasses. "Kenichi, May I come in?"
He smiles when he hears Sona's voice. "Yes."
She opens the door and was about to say something to him, but she gets caught off-guard by what she sees. Before her is not only Kenichi sitting on his bed reading a book, but also a sleeping Kisara. Her head is resting on his thigh. A very faint snore is coming from her. Her shirt was partially was risen up, but not enough to show anything. Kenichi was resting a hand on her shoulder. She also happened to be snuggling Blackie.
'She looks so happy, and that looks like it is really comfortable. Why can't I get some alone time with him?'
"What's up, Sona?"
"It is good to see you were well enough to be up and about."
"Yeah, but I was told to still take it kind of easy."
"My sister and I were talking and she thinks you should take a short break. A vacation of sorts. I don't fully agree with it. You should be back in school to make sure you don't fall behind on your studies."
"A vacation?"
She nods after adjusting her glasses. "Your parents were very worried about you. We did also tell people you got into a car accident. It only makes sense that you would be out a little while if a car hit you."
'I feel like my masters wouldn't care much about that and still get me full force back into training.'
"You make it sound like some exotic trip, but wouldn't I just be lounging around here?"
'That would be more convenient for me. Maybe I could rest on his lap like that. That looks really comfortable. She looks so content . I want to switch places with her.'
She shakes her head. "Nothing extravagant, but why don't you visit your home for a while."
"My mom would probably like that. She checks on me all the time."
"Maybe you can even take that girl that is comfortably sleeping on your lap without a care in the world out on a date. It is my understanding that you two haven't gone out on an official date yet, correct?"
He looks away in slight embarrassment over another girl asking him about that.
"No, we haven't."
'So, this brute of a girl is finally getting her date with him. I can't wait to see how this plays out. These girls are kind of amusing.' Blackie muses to himself.
"Then it's settled."
After saying that, she walks up to the bed and leans over. They share a kiss. As she is backing away, she stops and grabs his collar and stares at him in the eyes. "You will make sure that you spend some alone time with me beforehand. I did let the others know that you are doing well."
She goes to walk out the room, but she gives Kisara another jealous look and pouts. After leaving, Blackie and Kenichi look at each other.
"What was that about?" Kenichi asks him.
"Do I really have to spell it out for you?" He replies dully.
His master nods.
"You better spend some alone time with her before you leave if you know what's good for you. She's had to share you ever since the battle and hasn't had any time by herself with you."
He gives Blackie a thumbs-up. "Got it. Thanks Blackie."

The next day.
A limo sent by Sona was driving Kenichi and Kisara. They were both wearing their usual street clothes. He had his pin on his collared shirt. She had her blue jeans with one leg cut off and her red valkyrie shirt with a green cap.
"Are you sure you really want to go with me. I am fine you know."
"Maybe, but you did supposedly get hit by a car, you know. You can't exactly go walking into your home like nothing happened."
Blackie decides to put his two cents in. "She is probably just using this as an excuse to be next to you and act like she is taking care of you."
She starts to turn a little red. "Who asked you?"
The black cat chuckles a little.
The limo pulls in front of the house and the driver gets out to open the door for his passengers. Kisara is the first to come out. Kenichi comes out second with Kisara acting like she is helping him. Blackie hops out after them. Kenichi dismisses the driver and he takes off.
Kisara links her arm with his as they walk towards the gate. His father was already waiting at the gate and his mother was at the main entrance of the house.
"Hi dad. Hi mom."
"We were really worried about you, son." Motosugu says.
"Especially when we were told you were unconscious." His mother adds.
He scratches the back of his head with his free arm.
"I'm sorry I worried you so much."
They stop by his father at the gate. Motosugu almost puts his hand on Kenichi's right should, but then he remembers that Kenichi had gotten cut by a holy sword there. He pauses.
"You seem to be looking pretty well for someone that had gotten hit by a car. Are you sure you're all right. Any broken bones?"
"He's all right. This idiot is just a big mess inside." Kisara says.
"I think it was mostly just shock. I am surprisingly doing well."
"Maybe it was from all of that training you've put yourself through." His mom interjects.
"Anyway, I see that you've brought a friend along. What's her name?"
"This is Kisara."
"I'm an old friend of his from Koryo High. He's helped me out a couple of times. You could almost say I owe him my life." Then she laughs out loud to cover it up. 'Damn. Maybe I should have listened to Sona and dressed a little nicer. This is my first time actually meeting his parents. Well, there's nothing I can do now.'
"Well, it's very nice of you to help him out. Let's not stand around out here too much longer and get inside." Saori says.
Kenichi walks through the gate and gets that feeling in his stomach again. He also feels week all of a sudden. 'This is odd. I felt this the last time I was here. It's not quite the same feeling as when I am around a fallen angel or members of the church, but it is similar. What is up with my home?'
Kisara notices him get a little nervous. "Is everything all right?"
"Yeah. I think so."
Because of his bond to Kenichi, Blackie feels a drain as well once he passes into the yard. He pauses momentarily and cautiously looks around.
"Is this your cat, Kenichi?" His mom asks.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that I have a cat now. He follows me everywhere. Is it okay if he comes in?"
While Kenichi is saying this, Blackie had sniffed the air went to where a nearby bush was. He partially digs down and finds a ward. 'What the heck? Who are his parents?'
"I guess it's okay. We don't have much to offer him though."
"Come on, Blackie." Kenichi calls.
Blackie looks between Kenichi and the ward a few times and then prances over to his master while meowing. He stops in front of Saori. She squats down and looks at him with a soft smile. "Hello there, Blackie. You can come in, but please do your business outside. Okay?"
'Is talking to me like other people do to cats, or does she know what I am? Hmmmm.' He thinks and just simply meows in response to her as he goes inside.
Kisara and Kenichi follow suit.
After they get inside, Kenichi sits on the couch and his mom calls Kisara over to the Kitchen. She gives Kenichi a parting smile as she walks away. Blackie decides to follow the girls into the kitchen. 'Maybe I can get a handout or something.'
Mototsugu sits down in the large reclining chair and looks over his son.
"Are you sure that you're doing all right? You got hit by a car." Then he thinks to himself. 'I know better than that, but I can't exactly tell him that. I'm really surprised he lived through that, but that's my son for ya. He survived Ryozanpaku, and became a devil just to survive a battle with Kokabiel. He certainly is made of sterner stuff.'
"Yeah. I'm doing all right, dad. The doctors that Sona's family took me to were great."
"That's good to hear. Speaking of her, why isn't she or Sera here with you? Who's this girl you brought here?"

In the kitchen, Saori asked Kisara a similar question.
"Sona's actually in school right now."
"Are you just playing hooky then?" Kenichi's mom asks while waving around a knife.
Kisara sweat drops slightly. "Well. . . I am." She says in defeat. "It's okay though. I've got good grades, and I really wanted to make sure that guy was okay." She says this while looking back at the door.
Saori stops waving around the knife and cuts some banana nut bread for everyone to eat with the tea she was brewing. "That's very admirable of you. Just watch your grades. My son has had a bit of a time managing his grades and all of training he keeps doing."
"He really does train hard, but I think it suits him."
'I can't really tell her how much he has helped. He has saved soo many people, especially me.'
'She's human, but what's her angle with him?'
"You said he's helped you out. How long ago was that?"
'Crap. Is she reading my mind?'
She looks off to the side nervously. "I met him a while back when I was hanging out with the wrong crowd. I guess you could say him and his friends at the time set me a little straight. But, he really helped me out just before he switched schools."
'Could she be part of the reason why?' Saori starts to assume.
"It sounds like you two have become really good friends, or is it more than that? Do you love my son, or is this just you paying back his kindness?"

In the living room.
"She didn't give a very good impression based upon her looks, but do you love this girl? Something seemed more to you two just by watching how you two interacted with each other."
Kenichi smiles while thinking about her. "Yes. I do."
Mototsugu gives a hard stare at him while he asks his next question. "Would you die for her?"
The question instantly makes him turn pale as he thinks about the fact that he really did die for her. He laughs it off and scratches the back of his head.
"You made that sound really serious. That's kind of a terrible thing to consider, but I suppose I would. She's rough around the edges, but she is a really nice person."
Motosugu laughs heartily. "Any girl that you would be willing to put your life on the line for is a keeper."
"You really think so?"
"I know so. I will be fine with whoever you choose as long as if they don't do anything to hurt you or our family. Heck, you could have multiple women as long as if you are good to them as well."

Kitchen.
"W-w-w-w-w-what do you mean 'Do I love him?'" She nervously says.
"It's exactly as I asked. I want to know how you feel about him, that's all."
Kisara turns bright red. 'I can't believe she is actually going to make me say this lovey-dovey crap.'
"Yeah, I guess I do love him. Sure, I wanted to repay his kindness, but It really has turned into something more. I have no interest in being with any other man other than him. I want to be there for him as much as he is for me."
'I am definitely going to be teasing her about this in the future.' Blackie thinks as he chomps on a small piece of ham that Saori gave him.
They hear Kenichi's father laughing from the other room.
"I think we should go check on the boys. What do you think?"
"Sounds good to me."
"Come on Blackie." Saori cutely says to the cat.

As Saori and Kisara come back to the living room with some tea and bread, Kenichi curiously looks at his father.
"Are you usually home at this time, or is it just because I'm not usually here."
Mototsugu gives a great big laugh. "It's funny that you mention it. My bosses thought that I was doing such great work that they gave me a vacation. It's not like I-"
He gets interrupted by an 'accidental' kick to the shin.
"Oh. I'm so sorry, honey. I didn't mean to do that."
"Oh, it's all right. I know that was an accident."
"I didn't realize you were on vacation. And here you are worrying about me." Kenichi quickly says.
"Don't worry. We are happy that you are okay." Saori tells him.
"Besides, we have plenty of time to still go out on a date. Maybe somebody else should think about going out on a date."
He gets another 'accidental' kick to the shin at the end of his sentence. Kenichi and Kisara stare at each other momentarily.

After leaving Kenichi's house and refusing a ride home, Kisara was walking back home to her apartment. Along the route home, she comes across another familiar girl.
"Hey, Freya, what's up?"
Freya was also being followed by 4 of her valkyries. The valkyries look like a cross between race queens and sailor scouts.
"Long time, no see. You always seem to be disappearing on me."
"Well, I've been kinda busy."
"You still hanging out with that Shirahama guy?"
"A little bit." She says while trying to act cool.
"I still would like to know more and maybe even have a rematch with him."
"He's gotten a little tougher since then." Kisara adds.
"I'd have to see that for myself. These girls would probably like a decent match since their last one was interrupted by that weapons expert. Anyway, is he still associated with Ryozanpaku?"
"Not really. Why?"
"Well, I wanted to let you know that there are some people going around and taking on dojos. After defeating them, they're raising black flags and saying that they're under Yami's control."
"Did you say Yami?"
"Yeah."
'Shit.'
