A/N: This was written for the five drabbles challenge. I did go overboard on the word count again. I used the word broomstick for the prompt. I also changed the day of Alicia's birthday for the story also.

It was the end of September and it was finally Alicia's birthday. She frowned when she got up because none of her friends were around so she went into the Great Hall. She saw they were carefully arranging balloons and streamers at their table and they beamed when they saw her walk in.

"Happy birthday!" Fred and George rushed over to her and lifted her up on their shoulders and carried her over.

"What's all this?"

"It's your-"

"Birthday!" All of her friends finished Fred and George's sentence.

The twins proudly showed off the coffee cake they had baked this morning. Alicia widened her eyes when she gazed at Katie and Angelina. "You let them bake?"

Angelina shrugged. "The house elves supervised them."

Alicia glanced at the twins and then down at the coffee cake. Their gesture was sweet, but she knew them. They were obsessed with making joke related stuff and everybody in Gryffindor knew they had to be careful what they accepted from them.

"It's safe, right?" She asked carefully.

Fred and George placed their hands on their hearts dramatically. "You wound us!"

"Of course it's safe," George said.

Alicia took a skeptical bite but it was surprisingly good and then shared with the others. It was around that time when she saw Adrian wander in with some of the Slytherins. He was busy talking to his friends when he walked in so she glanced away quickly, but not before Katie took notice.

"What's got your attention?" Katie sang, nudging her.

Alicia widened her eyes. "Nothing," she said, lowering her head. Her friend gave her another curious look before she took a bite of the cake and started talking to them again.

Classes finally ended that day and Alicia was leaving with her friends. She saw Adrian was waiting outside of Charms again. "Hey, Angelina I will catch up with you later. I need to go to the library."

Angelina gave her a weird look. "It's Friday," she said.

"So?" Alicia asked.

"You want to do homework on your birthday," Angelina said slowly.

"I just need to check something. If I don't it will bug me all weekend," Alicia lied. That was half true. Adrian did bug her sometimes.

Angelina rolled her eyes. "Fine, Hermione," she muttered.

Alicia hung back until Angelina disappeared and then she turned to Adrian. "Hey, Adrian," she said lightly, walking over to him.

"Hi, Alicia. I got you something. For your birthday." He let out a nervous chuckle and her heart did another dance.

"Why?" She asked suspiciously.

He shrugged. "Because," he said. "Close your eyes and pick a hand," he said, placing his hands behind his back.

Alicia rolled her eyes and gave him another suspicious look. "It's a birthday present, not a bomb in disguise," Adrian said.

"All right," she said as she closed her eyes and picked his right hand. She jumped when his hands touched her wrist.

He touched the side of her face affectionately and Alicia jumped again.

She gasped when she saw a silver bracelet was dangling from her wrist. There were all sorts of charms on it. A broomstick and other Quidditch symbols.

"Do you like it?" Adrian asked shyly.

"I do," Alicia answered truthfully. "Thank you."

He ran a hand through his hair and looked away nervously. "You're welcome."

She glanced down at his other hand. "Do you have something else for me?" She asked teasingly.

Adrian laughed and nodded. "I brought you….dessert." He produced a chocolate cupcake and Alicia's eyes widened enthusiastically.

"Thank you!" She took the cupcake and smeared some frosting on his face. He pretended to scowl at her and stole a bite off her cupcake.

Alicia let out a giggle and pretended to try to get away. He caught her quickly but she only managed to turn away before she let her back settle against his chest. He rested his head on her shoulder.

"I got you something too," Alicia murmured suddenly.

Adrian laughed softly. "It's not my birthday," he replied.

"People can do whatever they want on their birthday."

He rolled his eyes in response and Alicia waited a moment before she placed a hand on the side of his face and then kissed his cheek.

Adrian gave her a shocked look but then he recovered within a few seconds like she knew he would. He suddenly wore a smug grin. "So you do like me," he said happily.

Alicia pretended to be unbothered by the entire situation when she shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe."

He turned thoughtful as he nodded. "I can work with a maybe. Does this mean you'll go out with me sometime?"

Alicia shrugged as she smiled again and met his eyes. "Maybe."

She took a step forward and kissed him again. This time it was a soft, quick kiss on his lips.

She giggled when Adrian was stunned again. It was hard to catch Slytherin's off guard, though she decided she would enjoy doing so more in the future.

Adrian opened his eyes as she was walking away. "What was that kiss about?" He demanded to know.

Alicia smiled and shrugged her shoulders as she walked away. "That was just because," she said mysteriously. "Thank you for the presents, Adrian. I should get going before my friends start wondering why I'm at the library."

"You're welcome," he murmured softly as she walked away.
