Alright, it's the moment many of you have been waiting for! Thank you for enjoying the madness, I know I sure am. Also, since Oct.4 is Canonically Iruma's birthday, me and hazard are going to try and give you guys double chapters each week for the rest of the month.
I have been on the massive binge of rereading the manga, and it's SO GOOD! Can't wait until we reach where the end of season 2 is, because the manga has some BIG things I'm eager to write about.
Suzie should have really been more mad about the destruction of her tower. They were the misfit class, they should have been told off like normal teens should. But the tree that Midoriya grew was so amazing, a harmonious collage of everything that made their class show off. Along with that, the boy even offered to help clean up the mess.
"Thank you again, Midoriya." She smiled at him, putting some of the stone blocks into a bag.
"No problem, it's the least I could do. It's my mess after all." He smiled as well, shoving broken branches into bags. "Sorry again about the mess, I didn't mean to cause you so much trouble."
Quite humble. She wondered why Kalego complained about the boy so much, he acted like a model student pretty much the entire day, nearly destroying the classroom by accident notwithstanding.
"You have a lot of potential." She spoke, gesturing to the massive tree. "I wonder how you ranked Aleph (1)?" She asked him, looking with curiosity.
"Well, I never got an official ranking when I was up for the ranking owl, it gave me a ring I can't take off instead of a badge." He laughed in a way that suggested it was the only thing keeping him stable at that fact. "So they gave me the lowest possible rank as a default. But it's not too bad, now I'm like everyone else," he said with a smile.
Most demons would've complained more or demanded a higher position, but the kid didn't seem to see it as much of a setback. Ranks were everything in Bablys after all, so it was strange to see someone not focus so intently on their position, especially if he was the chair demon's grandson. Strange, but oddly endearing.
Her attention was then put on a couple of the rowdier students gathered underneath the tree. "There haven't been so many students interested in Diabotany in such a long time. I have your beautiful flower to thank for that." She then eyed the janitors cleaning up the mess they were making. "Though I wish they would be a little more mindful."
"I guess I should go help them before it becomes too much to handle." He sighed and carried on with a few more cleaning supplies. "See you later, Stolas-sensei."
She could see why Sullivan talked up his grandson so much every chance he got, even though showing pictures of him at the table every morning to all the staff got tiring after a while. If only the other Misfits could be so considerate.
Ameri was mentally slapping herself as she rushed out the door. 'I let those texts get to me again. Their magic is so strong you only have to look at it to lose control!' It wasn't like it was a personal pleasure for her to admire the shy girl and nice guy from the pictures. No! She was merely studying their actions in order to get a better read on humans if she ever encountered one.
'If I understand it correctly, Humans can charm other's through simple gestures and body movements. The victims always seem to falter the moment body contact is made after bumping into them.' What else could explain the girl's complete infatuation with the boy she only just met minutes ago? 'Father said humans have developed strange powers over the years, but I never expected them to be so devious.'
It was a good thing she was going the extra mile to study the forbidden texts in massive detail. If humans could be that powerful, who knows how strong this Izuku Midoriya could be if her suspicions were correct? Just now she got a report from Zagan about how he made a massive tree appear. Given the forbidden texts, it seemed to be a tree from the human realm, which doubled her suspicions on him.
She would protect Bablys at any cost, which was why she was taking the text she was studying today back home. 'It's not like I'm taking it back home for my own amusement, it's strictly research! I would never do anything as selfish as using such sacred-' Her mental focus was completely thrown to the side as her vision was filled with what she assumed to be gardening supplies.
She hit the objects, falling onto her but. She let out a groan, undignified. She was already a second year, how could she let herself get distracted so easily? She no doubt made herself look like a fool to whoever she bumped into, losing whatever respect the individual ever had for her. "Oh, I'm sorry, I was distracted carrying some supplies, are you okay?" The voice was unfamiliar, and she looked up to be greeted with green hair. His face was immediately recognizable, seen from her investigations and school papers. Izuku Midoriya had knocked her over, hand extended in worry.
Her face flushed brightly at the green-haired first year. A sudden image of one of the text's images flashed in her head, particularly one depicting this exact scenario.
BA-DUMP
Her face glowed red. Her brow sweated. The boy in question kept looking at her in a manner that one could describe as cute worry. "You're not hurt, are you?"
Her heart was racing! He was using his charms on her! "You there! You're the Honor Student Izuku Midoriya, correct!?" Ameri sprouted up and shot an accusatory finger at him, almost daring him to lie.
"Uh, yes! I'm Izuku Midoriya!" He shook. He knew this was dangerous and was now trying to challenge her!
'Fighting on the first day, summoning a demon as a familiar, gaining an immeasurable rank, creating an otherworldly tree, and now attempting to make me fall in love with him! He is dangerous!' She placed her hands on his cheeks, squishing his face and preventing him from moving anywhere. 'There's no doubt about it! He is undeniably a human!' He doesn't have the right structure, and the distinct lack of horns on his head helped her case.
"Did I do something to offend you?!" He trembled more, obviously getting more excited by the second.
'This is bad. The moment word gets out that a human lives in the netherworld, chaos will be sure to erupt! That's not to mention whatever insanity he surely has planned!' Her suspicions turned out to be correct. She knew what she had to do from here. 'I'll keep him restrained until I can reach my father at other-worldly border control! Then he can be dealt with by the proper authorities.'
"What's that?" He asked, looking down at-son of a whore, she dropped the forbidden text! He was already picking it up. She needed to get it away from him before-
"First Love Memories?" he sputtered out with a confused look. "What's a romance manga doing in the netherworld?" the boy asked no one in particular.
"You can … read the forbidden text?" she asked. His only response was to give her a confused look.
"Of course I can, it's in Japa… nese..." He trailed off, slowly becoming a frozen statue. He could read the text. The one she had tried her hardest translating only to end with complete failure. Maybe there was something to gain from keeping a human to herself.
'Gaaaaaaahh! I'm dead, I'm dead, I am one hundred percent dead!' The saddest part was he caused the situation himself. He always thought Grandpa was going to blow his cover, or Kalego offing him with an axe in his sleep, or the next random bullshit in his life jumping when it felt like.
No, this was because he spoke before he thought, all on him! Way to go Izuku, you've won a free trip to hell, if there's an actual spirit one instead of being here now!
'Why do I have to speak my mind all the time! Why couldn't I develop another skill other than analysis, like cooking!? Maybe then my life wouldn't have been so useless back on Earth?! Now I'm going to get eaten and Mom will be alone here! Will Sullivan still keep her around? He only wanted a grandchild..GAH I'M DOING IT AGAIN!'
He only had one course of action now. Lie and run for the hills, change his name to Jack Miko, and start a life as a paper printer salesman. "Well it was nice to meet you! Here's your book back, don't mind me, I'll be on my way-" He was cut off by the hand grabbing his collar, slowly dragging him away.
'Worth a shot. Nice knowing you universe, I always thought you were a bigger dick than Bakugou ever could be,' he thought bitterly as he was carried off into a nice looking room. 'If she eats me, I hope I at least taste good. Who knows, with my super blood here, she just might gain super powers..ironic for the quirkless kid.'
"Now begin, please." The red headed girl, who now that he noticed, looked a bit like Opera-san, spoke, sitting across from him as he held the manga on a small table..with tea and pastries on the side.
"Um, not to be … rude, but I have a few questions," Izuku said tentatively.
"You may have three," the girl said, not giving him a form of emotion. Three were a thousand too few, but he'd make them count.
"Okay, let's start with who are you, what am I doing here, and are you related to a demon butler named Opera?" he asked. She blinked a few times, before sighing.
"I'm Ameri Azazel, head of the student council battler." Well that was one question answered easily enough. Student council had to exist in any school, and likely held enough power to severely threaten anyone out of line, meaning she could decapitate him before he moved three feet. "I am not related to Opera, although I believe he may be a distant relative, he doesn't share our blood." Our blood, was it bloodline magic that determined families? Seemed pretty narrow in all honesty. "And finally, you're here for one purpose, to read."
"You want me...to read?" Izuku was trying to wrap his head around the current situation. "..To you.." He pointed to the book. "..this romance manga..?" This was either the start of a prank video or a very bizarre porno.
Her face suddenly turned very flush, likely realizing what he said. "Romance manga!?" She asked, confusion evident in her voice. "What is this manga, and why does it involve romance of all things?"
Oh right, netherworld. They had their own language he could only read from a spell Grandpa gave him, and thought humans were a mythological creature from fairy tails. Even if she knew he WAS human from the book, she had no clue what the book itself entailed. She seemed very curious about it though, and even though he had a million questions, mostly pertaining to how the HELL she got her hands on a book from the human world, that curiosity was probably the only thing saving his ass from going on a skillet.
"Uh, well, manga is what we call comics or graphic novels where I'm from. They're a type of book and they range from genre to genre about a wide variety of topics, and well, this one in particular is about romance, exploring relationships between two teenagers, how they meet, how they develop feelings, how they deal with growing up and their future, stuff like that."
"I see. So it's a study guide on how to form relationships!" That wasn't it at all, but she seemed to be pretty elated, and she wasn't trying to kill him, so already this situation was going better than how it usually goes. "I have to learn more..for purely practical reasons! Now start reading!"
"Alright," he responded meekly. Even if this Ameri wasn't a demon, she was still a girl, a tall, strong, boisterous girl that was far out of Izuku's league no matter how you looked at it. There was no version of this situation where he didn't comply with what she demanded. "We're starting at the beginning, right?"
And so began probably the most awkward hours of Izuku's life. It was extremely embarrassing to read out loud in front of a girl, especially when she requested he do voices 'to understand the context more effectively'. His voice got especially squeaky when reading any of the female lines.
What was even more embarrassing was Ameri asking questions about plot points she didn't understand. "Wait! What's this date they keep talking about?"
"O-oh, it's, ah, a date is usually when two people get together and hang out, usually to learn more about each other," Izuku responded with a shaky smile, and then got pale for a second. 'Wait, by that logic, this is technically a date! Double wait! That would mean I've been on tons of dates with Clara!'
It went like that for hours, and as embarrassing as it might've been, he actually got invested in the story as well. It was hard not to when he was the one reading it!
He finally closed the book and noticed the black sky. "What?! It's already night!" He checked his hellphone, and sure enough, it was filled with worried texts from Sullivan, Opera, and his mother, as well as Clara asking when they were going to play again. "Aghhh, I've made them all worry! I should probably get going..." His phone was taken out of his hands. "Huh?"
Ameri held it in her own and started typing furiously, before placing it back in his hands. "There. I've added my number to your contacts. You'll come when I summon you."
"Huh, but didn't we just read through the entire volume?"
"That wasn't the only sacred text I have. We're going to keep having these meetings until we've read enough for me to decide what to do next." She nudged him out the door. "Now get going. You have a full day tomorrow."
Ah, now it made sense. She had some important family members that managed to get their collection on a bunch of manga. And the only reason he's lived as far as he has been for so long was because she needed a translator.
On the plus side, this meant he was safe as long as there was manga to read. On the downside, he was on a strict timer for a romance series with a dangerous tall female.
"So as long as we keep reading, the longer I have to figure out what the hell I can do from here. I hope this is a long lasting series." Maybe Grandpa could bring him more than one series that could catch her interests. No better time to enjoy the perks of a doting Grandfather than a time of crisis.
Gaako was starting to think Eiko's little crush was evolving more into unhealthy obsession the longer it went on. She didn't have any strong feelings about the honor student, positive or negative otherwise, but he did help protect Eiko from danger, so if Eiko had appreciation for that, she wouldn't do anything to stop her.
But she could do without the constant asking about him, the constant shrieking of his name, and the general fainting spells Eiko had to deal with whenever she so much as thought about approaching him. At least the danger-junkie was kind enough to walk up to her every once in a while; the most Eiko could stand to do was watch him eat lunch as he sat down with his inner circle of Alice Asmodeus and Clara Valac.
"Oh, Izuku has such a healthy appetite, but not to the point where he's a slob or glutton." She heard her companion moan as she took a bite of her own plate. "Could he get any more dreamy?"
"No. There's nothing more admirable about a demon than how he eats lunch." Gaako sarcastically groaned, though she doubted the blonde demoness caught any of it. How could she even be this concerned with romance so early in the year? They had their lives to worry about. Rank up to Dalet (4), hopefully a Hè (5), then enter a medium wage job. She had normal things to concern herself with, not some guy who did crazy things all the time.
"I still wish I could do something to help," Eiko muttered, taking a bite out of her food. Hold on, the girl made a terrifying headway when she wanted, she'd seen the scrapbook of stalker photos (they were stalker photos Eiko, there was no debating that). Maybe she could manipulate this.
"Maybe you could join the school paper," Gaako 'innocently' suggested as Eiko tilted her head. "Think about it. Izuku obviously loves gathering everyone's attention, and he's been the main headline twice already, so he's probably going to be on the front page sometime soon. It's perfect, you can have an excuse to seek him out wherever he goes and take as many pictures as you want, while also gaining credit for it."
Eiko's eyes widen as she gives a small scream of happiness, hugging Gaako tightly. "That's an awesome idea Gaako, thank you! You're the best friend a gal could ask for!" Well, besides the lack of oxygen, and the fact she didn't know what a friend was, she had to admit the hug was nice and warm. "Oh, you wanna get into it, we could join in together and take pictures of guys we like. Are you an Asmodeus fan?"
"Really? You've known me for years, you know I like them plain and normal." Like that Shaoron Teufel guy from class D, he seemed nice and, and he never got into insane destruction like the misfit class.
"Yeah yeah, you and your sanity fetish," Eiko said jokingly. "So, how are you doing for the exam?" Eiko asked Gaako, taking a bite of her sandwich.
"Good, not great though. I don't think I can expect to rank up this time around, but it is early in the year." She was glad the conversation was steering less towards danger prone thrillseekers. "Huh, Izuku left." She slapped her mouth, realizing too late what she had done.
"What!? Where is he?!" Eiko yelled across the room, fortunately not gathering a crowd as everyone seemed to focus on their own business, like normal people would usually be. "It must've been super important if he left Asmodeus and Valac behind. Wait, this could be my one chance to get some alone time!"
"Do you know what you actually want to say to him?" Gaako calmly asked, not taking her eyes off her food, and that was all it took for Eiko to return to a sputtering mess, frozen in place. Her friend (was she using that word right?) could be a moron sometimes, she thought with a sigh.
"Such a restless rival." Asmodeus turned to the intruding voice of Sabro, and he gritted his teeth. His standing with Midoriya was bad enough, but that danger-junkie had to go off and befriend the mammoth of a hooligan who never knew when to shut up. "Already rushing off to face his next trial in life. Truly worthy competition for myself." He wondered if this was the honor student's revenge for what he said on the first day of class. So petty.
"What would you know about it, Sabro? He just has something planned ahead of time, nothing more." Asmodeus then thought seriously. "But he has been going off on his own more lately, and for once he's not causing a commotion. It's strange."
"It's wrong, that's what it is!" The third most annoying presence in his life right now yelled in his ear. "Izuku-kins haven't been playing with me! We could've been playing tag right now!"
"Do you think he might have become bored with some petty games after a while like that." Apparently that was the wrong thing to say, given that she grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to eye level with eyes that somehow burned angrier than his own fire. Despite this her mouth remained calm and level.
"Would you like me to make something to shove down your throat so you don't say stupid stuff, Azz-Azz?" Valac asked coldly as Sabro backed away in fear. "I'm his best friend! If there was something wrong, he would tell me everything about it! It's not something you could ever understand since you're not his friend."
"I don't need to be his friend! I just want to figure out what he's planning." He's gleaned bits of his character over the past few weeks, but the whole picture just wasn't coming together. There was always a new piece that caused the others to jumble up, and he could barely connect what he gained from them. Just what the hell was with this kid?
She blinked and let go. "Wait, are we both saying we should follow him?" Valac asked in confusion.
Asmodeus could only sigh. "As much as it pains me to admit, I agree with you." Truly, he could feel a small part of him die inside. "We'll tail him and figure out what's going on."
"Oh, super spy stuff." Valac smiled brightly, he sighed at her idiocy.
"We're not spying! We're just making sure he isn't causing anyone else trouble," Asmodeus groaned, leading her out of the cafeteria "Now then, make us some detection-warding glasses, we can't be seen or we'll be asked too many questions, or he won't go wherever he's been going."
"Oh, disguise, just like a spy."
He was about to argue again, but realized this was probably the closest he was going to get to her being on track. "... Yes, like a spy." Another part of him died even as she created some custom and weird looking detection-warding glasses, particularly giving herself a pig nose and a mustache. "You know the point of spying is to not gather attention from anyone, right?"
"Hey, as long as we wear these, no one's going to notice us anyways, so that way, we can have more fun! It's like how a wife disguises herself to find out if her husband is cheating on her!"
"Why do you always go back to that?!" Seriously, despite wishing she would die in a ditch, was her home life really that messed up? Regardless, they made their way, eventually finding Izuku. They quietly followed until they ended up at- "Shit." He muttered as he saw a sign.
"Come on, he's inside," Valac said, ignoring danger and walking to the door without a shred of self-preservation. His response was to grab her arm.
"Don't you know, that's the student council's room!" he whispered. "The strongest and most deadly people in the school! How the hell did he get mixed up with them?" He didn't know what was more dangerous, Midoriya's recklessness or Ameri Azael's ruthlessness.
"Wait, are you saying Izuku-kins is playing with them instead of playing with me!?" He gets that she's been really lonely through most of her life (her fault really, in all honesty) but why was everything about playtime? There were plenty of other things in life to worry about, such as passing school and getting a good rank, forging bonds- 'Where did that thought come from?' he wondered, only to discover her running at the door. "What are you doing, Valac!?"
"I'm barging in! Izuku-kins, I want to play too!" She shot herself forward like a demon bull, and it took a considerable amount of strength to stand his ground. Right now, he envied Izuku's high pain tolerance.
"Quiet! I won't let you disturb whatever importance this meeting has!" Asmodeus threw her off. "Besides, If you keep causing commotion, we won't be able to hear what they're discussing!" This required a delicate touch, they couldn't just barge in willy nilly.
"Well then, I'll use a move Izuku-kins taught me." That had him pause. He knows that the boy was well versed and thought she had more potential for creativity. However, he had years of combat experience and refined training, some commoner surely couldn't dare to- "Bye Bye Creation: Missile Volleyball!" Or she pulls out a devi-damned rocket launcher!
"How did he even show you that!?" He screamed, ducking out of the way as she fired and blew the door to ashes.
"What in the name of everything unholy is going on out here!?" Shit! Ameri Azazel, president of the student council! He had aspirations to join and eventually usurp the president's position, but thanks to the madness of Valac, his goals were now less than a pipe's dream.
"M-miss President! I, I didn't, I wasn't trying to, I-" Damn it! He's absorbed Izuku's penchant for stammering! "It was all her fault!" He pointed to the still very steamed Valac, completely ignorant to the murderous aura of Ameri.
"Izuku-kins! Come on and play." She shouted, shooting glares at the president in a way that showed she was ready to fight to the death. "You have to share him, Lady Red Hair!"
"What do you mean by sharing him!? You can't just come into a private meeting out of the blue, and you caused damage to the room at that!" She shouted in return, outraged and confused, the facial expression of everyone that met the Valac.
Asmodeus sighed, looking down when he noticed something interesting near the knocked off table. "A picture book?" What was so important about it that it required several private readings?
A hand quickly picked it up and placed it on a small table..filled with baked goods and tea? Huh? "Oh, that's, that's mine! I, uh, have a lot of ideas about bloodline abilities and sometimes visualize them in great detail. I did something similar with Clara." Izuku answered quickly.
Said maniac turned immediately to him, forgetting all about Ameri. "And it worked like a charm!"
Ameri turned away from him and whispered something quietly in Izuku's ear, making him blush before returning her attention to them. "Izuku has agreed to indulge my curiosity about his theories. If I'm to protect the school, I shouldn't limit myself with how I go about it."
That made sense, if she heard about his analysis and decided to use it to advance her own powers, she could do a lot. Considering his own rocket powered flight and Valac's … recent attack, there was a lot he could offer. This would also be beneficial to him, as now the green haired mutterer now had the freaking student council president on his side. Now Midoriya seems to have a pondering look as he's dragged out, curious.
"Now normally I wouldn't tolerate anyone causing such a commotion in my private quarters…" She offered a small look at Midoriya. "But seeing as how you are Izuku's...friends, I believe he put it, I suppose I could let this transgression slide just this once. Good day." She took the book and left.
Saved by friendship. He didn't know if he could feel any lower than this. He needed something to keep sane, or he'd be dead internally by the end of the school year.
