Prompt- 'I'm having the worst day and you've just handed me an envelope with ...'
Harry Potter breathed a sigh of relief as he walked out of the fireplace into his lounge. It was so good to be home, especially after the last week. Even better, he had the weekend off, and so did Ginny. Speaking of...
"Gin? You home?" he called.
"Harry? You're early! Hang on a minute, don't come into the kitchen," she called back, sounding harried.
He sighed deeper; all he wanted to do was get changed and lay on the sofa with Ginny, maybe listen to a Quidditch match, or maybe watch a movie. They'd order too much takeaway that Ginny would eat anyway, then they'd go upstairs and make love. It was the perfect end to yet another shitty day.
He walked down the hall past the kitchen, unable to stop the urge to look in. Ginny was tucking something into an envelope and didn't see him look in, so he continued on to hang his cloak up on the hook.
As he walked back past the kitchen, Ginny was waiting for him.
"Come here, into the lounge," she said, taking his hand. "How was work?"
He scowled. " Still no leads on the case, and Ron officially gave his notice today, he finishes up in two weeks."
" I'm sorry, love, I know you'll miss working with him," said Ginny, as they sat down on the sofa.
"Eh, I don't want to talk about it, hell, I don't even want to think about it," he said, running his hands through his hair. "I need a bloody good distraction. Shall we watch a movie tonight?"
Ginny shook her head. "Before we do that, here," she offered, handing him an envelope.
He took it; it was unmarked.
"From you?" he clarified and she nodded, biting her lip. She was nervous, he realised.
" Is everything all right?" he asked her in concern.
"Just open the damn envelope Harry," she barked.
"Geez, fine."
He carefully opened the envelope, aware of her rolling her eyes, and he took out a stick with a big + sign on one end.
He frowned, then realisation sunk in. His eyes widened as he looked between the stick and Ginny, who was watching him with bated breath.
" Is this...are you...we're going to have...?"
He was a blabbering mess, not making any sense, because with every half question he threw at her, Ginny was nodding yes, yes, her eyes filled with tears, with hope, with love.
" I'm having the worst day and you've just handed me an envelope with a pregnancy test in it," he cried.
" A positive pregnancy test," she corrected. " We're due in late June."
" Oh my god, this is brilliant," he cried, picking her up and spinning her around till she protested it made her feel queasy. He put her down and picked up the pregnancy test again. There it was, a big shiny positive, and he gave it a kiss.
"Ew, Harry, I peed on that thing," she grimaced.
