Prompt - "I have moves you've never heard of."
"Yeah because youre basically a senior citizen!"
Harry Potter felt bad. Earlier he had snapped at Ginny and to his surprise she had snapped right back.
* 'I didn't want anyone to talk to me,' he said, feeling more and more nettled.
'Well that was a bit stupid of you,' Ginny had replied angrily, 'seeing as how you don't know anyone but me who's been possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels.' *
She was right, of course, she did know how it felt to be possessed by Voldemort, and he felt bad that he had just dismissed her feelings when she and her family were just trying to make him feel better.
He got off his bed and went out to the hall before heading downstairs. To his surprise, he heard no sounds of anyone else in the house.
The kitchen was pristine; Kreacher was asleep in his dark dingy cupboard-like room under the pipes, no doubt relieved that the Weasleys were not around.
As he left the kitchen he heard music and laughter. He opened the door and to his great surprise, saw Sirius and Ginny dancing together...quite badly.
He inched in the door, and couldn't stop the smile spreading on his face as he watched the two. Sirius would twirl and dip her as she cried out in fun, clinging to his shoulders as he pretended he was going to drop her.
"You're going to kill me," Ginny cried.
"Hey, I have moves you've never heard of," protested Sirius, grabbing both her hands and spinning them around.
"Yeah, because you're practically a senior citizen," she teased back.
Sirius threw his head back and laughed; Harry was drawn to his face. He looked years younger, carefree, as if it were just another fun afternoon at Christmas time.
"Look, here's Harry, he's more your age. Dance with him," offered Sirius.
" Oh no." Harry began shaking his head. "I don't dance."
" Come on, it's easy, just wiggle your hips," suggested Ginny, demonstrating.
Harry tried, he really did, but it felt unnatural and made him feel uncomfortable. Sirius seemed to realise, as he lowered the volume of music on the wireless and suggested they go and get some ice cream from the kitchen.
"Tell us, who was the best dancer of the Marauders, you, Professor Lupin or Harry's dad?" asked Ginny, unexpectedly.
"Definitely me," boasted Sirius, " but what James lacked in n he more than made up for it in showmanship. Lily was a fair dancer, she made James look good. Remus was like you, Harry, he didn't care for it all."
Harry always treasured these little mentions of his parents, little snippets of information that he stored away.
"I have a photo of them, dancing in the snow," he remembered. "Hagrid gave it to me."
"Show me," encouraged Ginny.
"I don't have it with me, it's at Hogwarts," he realised.
"Never mind, I think I know the one you mean," said Sirius, winking at Harry.
"Tell us more about them," said Ginny, and to Harry's delight, Sirius regaled them with so many stories about James and Lily Potter.
He only stopped when Molly, Ron, Hermione and the twins returned from visiting Arthur in the hospital. Both Hermione and Molly looked relieved to see him out of his room. Molly hustled to get them all some hot chocolate.
November 2nd 2003
Harry looked down at the grave, bending to place the flowers on the slab. When he stood, Ginny slipped her arm through his.
"I never thanked you," he said unexpectedly.
" For what?" she asked in surprise.
"That Christmas we were at Grimmauld Place. You danced with him and made him laugh, and he shared so many memories of my parents to me. That night...it's the only real memory I have of him laughing and being happy. So thank you for that."
" I think he showed us the real Sirius that night," she agreed. "The one that had fun with his friends, the one that should have had a lifetime of helping them to bring up his godson. He was kind to me, he actually listened to me and didn't dismiss me feelings as those of a little girl. Both he and Tonks were so great to me that Christmas."
They stood looking down at the grave of a man who had been dealt a cruel hand in life.
" It comforts me to know he's with my dad again," said Harry softly, " him and Remus too."
"Harry, I was going to suggest this to you at a later date but it seems appropriate to ask you here. If this baby is a boy, I'd like to name him James Sirius...if that's okay with you?"
Harry wasn't ashamed to show Ginny the tears of happiness in his eyes as his hand caressed her small baby bump. Right now, only the two of them knew about her pregnancy andf they had hopes of concealing it from her family till Christmas.
"That would be amazing, thank you Ginny. I love you so much," he half whispered.
"I love you too, Harry," she replied softly.
