Prompt – We're guests at a wedding that's asked the guests to help take pictures and we're in some weird competition now to get the craziest candid shot.
The invitation was to attend the 'Party to End All Parties,' the setting, the Finnegan's pub in Ireland. It was only when all the guests arrived were they told that it was the day that Seamus and Dean were getting married.
As legal same sex marriages were still ten years away, it would be a simple commitment ceremony followed by a reception at the family pub.
Seamus was escorted down the aisle by both his parents, whilst Dean walked down arm in arm with his mother, his stepfather and half siblings sitting in the front row.
The reception was very informal and a great chance for former Hogwarts students to catch up, some Seamus and Dean hadn't seen since the grim days after the battle of Hogwarts. Some had married, some had retained small ties to the wizarding world, some had even moved to other countries.
There were no designated places for guests to sit, but on each of the long narrow tables were several disposable muggle cameras, with a tag on them, challenging people to take the craziest candid photo.
With Irish whiskey and meade flowing freely, there were several good opportunities for candid photos, and Dean and Seamus had fun sorting through the photos when they returned from their honeymoon.
Upon their return to London, where they lived, they owled Ron, Harry and Neville for a night out, and the five men met at the Leaky Cauldron, where Hannah had set out a private room for them.
Towards the end of the evening, they brought up the photos and how much they had enjoyed the candid shots. They brought some with them to show the others, but kept a couple back.
"All right, what's those then?" asked Ron, as Seamus and Dean shared a fond look at those two particular photos.
"These were the two we judged as our favourite candid photos. It was hard to pick a winner actually," revealed Dean.
"But in the end, we did," clarified Seamus. He handed a photo to the others. "This was the runner up."
Harry blanched as Neville and Ron laughed. It was a photo of Harry taken during the ceremony. The person had been close enough to show tears welling in his eyes, and Ginny next to him, brushing aside one tear that had escaped and ran down his cheek.
"I took that one," cried Neville, " I was sitting right behind them."
"Harry always cries at weddings," confessed Ron, to Harry's chagrin. "Thank Merlin he and Ginny eloped, he would have bawled all the way through theirs if they had a proper wedding."
"It was a proper wedding," defended Harry, " we just didn't want all the fuss with the press and all."
"So what was the winning photo?" asked Neville, heading off an argument.
Grinning, Seamus handed the photo to Neville, who burst out laughing.
"This takes me back to the Yule Ball days," he laughed.
"Let me see," said Harry, and Neville passed him the photo, which he shared with Ron.
"Oy, I don't remember that happening," scowled Ron.
"You were pretty drunk," admitted Dean.
"So was she," chuckled Seamus.
" Oh my god, you're groping Macgonagall," gasped Harry. Sure enough, the photo showed Ron dancing with his old professor, his hands seemingly near her bottom.
Ron winced, "Don't say it like that. We're dancing, that's all. I wouldn't...I- I couldn't..."
"Remember when we had our dance lessons for the Yule Ball?" asked Neville, a fond look on his face.
"I remember Ron and Macgonagall," laughed Harry. "Ron didn't know where to put his hands."
"Looks like he knows now," howled Neville.
"Didn't you go to the ball with Ginny?" asked Seamus, which made Harry stop laughing.
"Maybe that's when this beautiful relationship started. Does Hermione know?" teased Dean to Ron.
"Who do you think took the photo," revealed Seamus with a wink. He reached under the table and brought out a bottle of Irish whiskey. "Give her our regards, won't you!"
