Chapter 1: The (not wanted) Apprentice
"Hm... It seems today will be a bad day..." Saitama muttered to himself. Like usual, he arrived early in the morning and prepared to attend.
It is around noon and no one soul has entered.
As Saitama starred at the door with a blank look, he saw a mosquito. It flew around and he tracked it with his eyes. When it was close enough, he squashed it between his fingers. He cleaned the squashed bug from his fingers with a napkin when he saw another one.
There were two actually.
Hold on, three.
He sighed and went for the bug spray. When he came back, he saw that the establishment was full of the bugs.
His eye twitched before noticing the black cloud made of mosquitos out at the streets. "What's going on?"
He ignored the swarm of mosquitos and opened the door to see two chicks fighting in middle of the swarm. A robot girl and a... mosquito girl.
Robot girl noticed him and gritted her teeth "Sir! You need to leave! It is dangerous out here!"
The mosquito girl that was transforming screamed as mosquitos were headed their way and the robot girl extended her arm as she incinerated all mosquitos.
Once the flame was gone mosquito girl, fully transformed ripped her arm and her leg. Seeing no other option to win, Genas decided to self-destruct.
Only for Saitama, that realizing that the flow was slow today was because of Mosquito Girl, he slapped her, pulverizing her body.
Genas, who forgot that the bald man was still there, watched with awe and surprise, how with one slap, the monster that almost killed her, was nothing more that blood on a building.
Saitama noticed how some blood landed on him and looked with disgust how his white shirt got dirtied "Now I have to change."
He was about to leave when Genas called him "Wait!" Saitama looked at her over his shoulder "Can you train me!?"
"Sure whatever." He said in a hurry, without processing what she said. With the mosquitos gone, things should go back to normal and it is almost lunch time.
There is no time to waste!
*Next Day, The Fountain*
After the slow start of yesterday work day due the mosquitos, people went to have lunch and happy hour like usual. In other words, he turned a disaster around into profit.
He was cleaning some glasses, getting ready to open, when someone enter.
He didn't look up from the glass he was cleaning "We're closed."
"Sensei." Saitama raised a brow and looked at the robot girl from yesterday that was in front of the counter.
"Eh... what?"
Genas didn't hesitate "Yesterday you agreed to train me, so here I am."
Saitama didn't answer at first, thinking on a way of how to tell this girl that he didn't mean to say that. He looked at his watch and sighed. He still has 30 minutes; bet he can solve this in 5.
"...Take a sit. I'll bring you a coffee so we can talk this over." Before he noticed, Genas was already sat on one of the many tables. He went to make a Capuchino, one for him and one for her.
He placed the mug in front of her "Look, I know that I agreed to train you, but I didn't mean to, I said so in the spur of the moment." He took a sip and noticed that the girl hasn't touched her coffee. "As you see, I ran this place and it keeps me busy. Besides, I gave up on crime fighting and hero stuff a long time ago."
"But you killed that monster like if it was nothing!" Saitama shrugged "At least tell me the secret of your strength!"
"I trained hard." He sighed seeing that she isn't giving up "What's your name anyway."
"Genas."
Saitama nodded "Genas; and why do you want to become strong?"
Genas kept her serious stare "I want to avenge my family. They were killed 4 years ago by a Mad Cyborg and I almost did too. But saved me and I asked him to turn me into a cyborg to take my revenge."
Saitama nodded, understanding her motivations. "Let's say I agree to train you, my problem of running this place still remains. This already takes most of my time, so multitasking you're training and working might be hard for me."
Genas nodded "And if I work here?" She suggested and Saitama hummed.
"That might be a solution..." but he really doesn't want extra expenses if avoided.
Genas smiled "If you train me, I will work here for free!"
Saitama nodded "Deal."
Genas bowed her head "Thank you Sensei! You won't regret this!"
Saitama nodded "You start tomorrow, both your training and work. Come here to meet me at 6AM."
Genas stood up and nodded "Yes Sensei!"
*Next Day*
Saitama had a hard time on how to plan the training regime of Genas. Mainly because he assumed that due her being of metal, any physical training would be useless. So, he decided to teach her first other type of strength.
"Discipline?" Genas asked once she arrived at The Fountain.
Saitama nodded "Many people only see that discipline is a way to punish, but without own discipline you will get nowhere." Genas was writing it all down in a small notepad.
"I understand! How will I learn it?" She asked eager and Saitama nodded and threw her the same uniform he was wearing.
"Say, do you know how to make the perfect coffee?"
*Hours Later*
Genas was behind the counter, as she slowly did what Saitama showed her. Saitama was serving food to the only costumer that were staring at the cyborg. "Seems you finally hired some help, Saitama."
Saitama shrugged "It looks like I did. Here, enjoy your food."
The customer took a bite and hummed "Delicious as usual. I am surprised there isn't a gigantic crowd outside only to eat here." The customer praised and Saitama rubbed the back of his head.
"Maybe one day. For now, with people like you Kaore, I am more than happy." Kaore laughed and Saitama went back to Genas. "How's the coffee?"
Genas placed the mug in front of Saitama and he took a sip. Once the coffee touched his tongue he flinched. "How is it Sensei?" Gensa asked with wide eyes.
"Eh... how much beans did you use?"
"All of them." Genas answered and Saitama starred at the bean empty machine.
He sighed "Genas, you need to use the exact amount of coffee, water, or whatever the specific coffee needs. Look at it this way; if you are fighting a monster, if your punch is too weak, it won't do nothing, if it is way too strong, you might cause way to damage, not only to the monster, but the things around it too. Do you understand?"
Genas, who wrote everything in her notepad nodded "I do Sensei! Let me try again!"
Saitama nodded and wrote down the simple recipe for Red Eye Coffee. "Here. This one is easy."
Genas nodded and went to work as the door opened and a new client entered.
*One Week Later*
Genas placed a mug of Irish Coffee in front of Saitama. She watched with expecting eyes as her Sensei drank the coffee. He hummed and drank some more before smiling at Genas "It's perfect."
Genas smiled and nodded "Thank you Sensei. What's my next lesson?"
"Do you know how to make the perfect meal?"
