Neon Genesis Evangelion
Hope from the Future: The Righteous Flames of God
Rodan soared and divebombed against Ghidorah, but the attack proved useless against the three-headed dragon from beyond the stars. It was like no matter what methods they tried, Ghidorah was almost impossible to take down.
Ghidorah cackled at the remaining foes that stood between him and his claim to rulership of this planet that was going to suffer immensely so long as these…pests continued to intervene with his vision. No matter how long it took, the planet would be his to rule this time.

"…You kill a goddess, you must pay a penalty for such a crime," went Kaji as most of Central Dogma was still reeling from the fact that King Ghidorah had murdered one of the Mothras. "There is always a penalty to pay."
But Gendo didn't believe in there being a penalty to pay so long as most of these creatures were dealt with. If these creatures were to get rid of each other, the ones remaining could be dealt with later on when mankind developed the means to dispose of them.
On the screens, they could see Mothra Leo glowing brightly.
"Hell hath no fury like the vengeance of one's own spawn," said Maya as Leo took on his armored form.
"Or the wrath of the mightiest god of the primordial food chain," added Asuka over the intercom as they saw Godzilla glowing.
"Son of a bitch," Kaji cursed.
"Yep," Misato agreed with him.

Kong and Leo had to allow Godzilla more time to power up and deal with Ghidorah, and then the female MUTO roared as she charged towards the three-headed nightmare.
"Rrrrrrraaaurgh!" She roared as she felt herself starting to burn up.
If this was what it took to eliminate an enemy that was just as remorseless as they were believed to be, then this was the price she had to pay, for the loss of her mate, for her children that didn't survive, and whatever future there was left in this world.
Ghidorah cackled and unleashed his gravity bolts upon her, sending her into the next world like he had done with Mothra.
"Rrrraaurgh!" The MUTO shrieked, but managed to impact the beast before her final moments ceased, causing Ghidorah to have his vision obscured.
Ghidorah shook his heads to clear his vision.
"Iiiieee!" He heard the chirp of the other Mothra as the charred ashes of the MUTO dissipated, and all three of his heads saw the other Mothra soaring towards him like a meteorite.
BASH! Leo, with his body still aglow, struck Ghidorah in its torso and knocked him onto his back on the ground.
Kong took advantage of this momentary hindrance and grabbed bits of the ruins around them and threw them into the air above Ghidorah.
"Aaurgh! Aaurgh! Urgh!" Ghidorah grunted as he was struck by the debris. "Haaa!"
"Grr!" Kong growled as he grabbed another ruined building and threw it at Ghidorah. "Grrrah!"
Ghidorah shrugged it off as he returned to his feet and fired his gravity bolts at Kong, burning the hair on his chest and legs. His left head turned around and saw Mothra Leo and Rodan hovering in the air just good distance from where he stood.
"Iiiiee!" He heard Leo chirp, and recognized it as a pathetic attempt to intimidate him.
If humans were able to translate what Leo had said, it would've said something along the lines of, "Long let live the one destined to be king."
Suddenly, the ground shook and the air felt warmer than before.
Ghidorah looked ahead of Kong as the giant ape backed as far away from who was coming by, seeing a smoldering pillar of fire that was intensifying.

"No…friggin'…way," Misato expressed as NERV's connection with Unit-02 was pushed to its absolute limits as Asuka was seeing Godzilla in some sort of superheated form.
"He's like a supernova right now!" Ritsuko gasped.
"Rrrrrrrrrraaaurgh!" Godzilla roared as he closed the gap between himself and Ghidorah.
"Aaaurgh! Aaaugh!" Ghidorah's heads cackled as he flapped his wings to generate lift.
Even from its safest distance, Unit-02 could see what looked like electrical sparks emanating from Godzilla's dorsal spikes as he generated more heat from his body.
BURST! A massive wave of heat energy exploded from Godzilla and hit Ghidorah.
Asuka could've sworn that she saw a pattern of flames that echoed Mothra's wings and the sound of her cries were heard, but all she knew was that she needed to get further away from where she was.
Ghidorah's wings had been obliterated by this augmented nuclear pulse of Godzilla's, and he could sense the presence of Mothra within his enemy. Without his wings, he couldn't fly, grounding him.
"Aaaaurgh!" He howled as he fell and got back up and fired his gravity bolts at Godzilla, refusing to back down.
But Godzilla, due to his empowered state afforded to him by Mothra's sacrifice, had increased his durability. These beams of electrical energy barely fazed him as he came closer to his three-headed adversary. Building up the energy again, he released the collective power of himself and Mothra against Ghidorah, burning away more of his ancient foe.
BURST! The nuclear pulse projected affected more of Ghidorah than the previous pulse.
Burning away to atoms, the left head and the right head, along with his two tails, Ghidorah was losing much more than he could regenerate right now. He fell back down, trying to muster another blast from his remaining head, but what remained of his energy stayed within his remains, just keeping him alive.
Godzilla took advantage of this moment of vulnerability and raised his right foot onto Ghidorah and caved in on his torso.
"Rraaaaaurgh!" The head shrieked as their energies melded and created an imbalance that caused what remained of his body to self-destruct.
BLAST! The explosion obscured everything…and NERV had lost their connection to Unit-02 and Asuka, leaving their screens and monitors occupied by static.
"Incredible," went Hyuga.

Was she alive? Was she dead? Right now, Asuka couldn't say for sure, only that she was in the darkness. If this was Hell, it was dreadful and full of uncertainty.
Was this how you felt when you got stuck in the Twelfth Angel, Shinji? She wondered as she was unsure of what to do.
No, Asuka, she heard that familiar voice to herself, not even close. And this isn't Hell. It's just the inside of your head. You should still be able to eject the plug and call for help.
Shinji, you…you lived a good life in the past before Second Impact. I mean, you actually got to live a life that wasn't based on trying to prevent the end of the world.
Except trying to keep Second Impact from repeating itself, which it did.
Still, you were able to change your life and the lives of others. I met Mariko, and she's still devoted to you.
She is my best friend.
Is there hope for this world?
After the life I had in the past, the monsters I heard about from Monarch, the ones I either helped to capture or defeat, all I can do is hope for a future that is worth living for. Wake up, Asuka. Wake up.
Asuka opened her eyes and found herself back in the plug. She checked the power regulator and had only a minute's worth of power left, just enough to eject the plug.
Thanks, Shinji, she thought as she pressed a switch and ejected the plug from the Eva.
Outside, a heavily-damaged Unit-02 opened its back up and the Entry Plug was exposed to the air, expelling its LCL and opening its hatch.
Asuka climbed out and saw a different landscape that invoked a dessert wasteland more extreme than what the ruins of Tokyo had been like. With her plug ejected, it was a matter of time before NERV or even Monarch got wind of her presence and sent an extraction team to come get her.
"Gott im Himmel," she sighed as the air felt dry. "Das ist die Hölle (This is Hell)."
There were no signs of Godzilla, Ghidorah, Kong, Leo or Rodan or any of the other monsters that came to fight. It was like they disappeared from the face of the planet.
"Iiiee!" She then heard that familiar chirp and looked up behind her, seeing the monstrous flying insect that had helped save the world.
"Grr! Grr!" She could see Kong, covered in dust and debris, followed by Gorosaurus and Manda.
Rumble! The ground shook.
"Aw, come on!" Asuka groaned; she really didn't want to be dragged into another showdown with these creatures again.
The monsters had regrouped and were prepared for whatever was coming.
Burst! From under the ruins of the once-great metropolis, the remaining head of Ghidorah emerged, howling in great fury at all who remained.
Oh, no! Asuka realized; if Ghidorah was still alive, then it meant Godzilla had failed to kill him, and he was back to take revenge. What?
She then noticed that the head was howling in agony, and something else emerged from the ground…and she felt a little relief. The head was reduced to nothing more than just a head…in the jaws of none other than Godzilla himself, back to his previous state, with patches of his body glowing blue. Somehow, the head was still active, despite the body being destroyed, and was unable to escape from Godzilla.
Godzilla raised his head up into the air and fired his atomic breath, incinerating the remaining head to atoms, removing what lingered of his ancient foe.
"Raaurgh!" He roared, shrugging his head.
"Das ist ein gott (That is a god)," Asuka uttered, probably now understanding what Shinji had understood when he stood in the presence of some of these creatures that weren't so much a threat to people as people were to each other.

"…The storms are dissipating," Kenji reported to Serizawa; once Ghidorah's energy signature disappeared, the storms that were developing across the planet had ceased their activity, indicating that they were dependent upon the three-headed monster to persist.
"Godzilla defeated Ghidorah," went Hana to him.
On the screens on the carrier, everyone present had seen what remained of Ghidorah get reduced to atoms by Godzilla.
"Thank the kami he's on our side," said Mima.
"For now," expressed Serizawa; it was only a matter of time before something happened to upset the balance of nature once again and drive Godzilla to act again.
On the screens, Godzilla growled as he began to move again, but not towards the ocean.
"Something's up," stated Suki. "He looks pissed."

Despite Ghidorah no longer a threat to anyone on the planet, Godzilla could still a trace of danger, and that needed to be dealt with as soon as possible. But he could trace the source of the threat now, and it was coming from that place where he fought the flying MUTO the first time. Once the danger was removed before it could become a hindrance, all current forms of disorder would no longer become a concern. But he had to get to the place the threat dwelled. Time was of the essence.
To be continued…
A/N: I apologize for the extensive delay in this chapter. I hope you can find comfort in this until the next chapter. Some of you can probably think of what Godzilla could sense as a threat was lingering around, and those of you that can't, you'll find out soon.
