And we are back with a new chapter, ladies and germs! I'm terribly sorry for the long wait, but here's a new chapter for the story now! YAAAAY! Okay, when we last saw our favorite hero nerd he and T'Challa were about to beat down some fools. How long will it take for one of them to freeze like an antelope in headlights? Let's see…
*I don't own My Hero Academia or Black Panther!*
Previously on MHA: Chronicles of the Black Panther…
"No need, Okoye, my new apprentice and I can handle this alone."
Okoye gave a sound like she's not entirely convinced. But for what reason remains unknown.
"We will get Nakia out as quickly as possible." T'Challa assured.
"Just don't freeze when you see her." Okoye said.
"What are you talking about?" T'Challa asked as he put on his helmet. "I never freeze."
Izuku walked to the area where he and his new mentor would be dropping into the action. And he's wearing something different than his usual clothing. It's the Black Panther suit that king T'Chaka wore before his son became the new Black Panther. Unlike T'Challa's suit which has silver accents and teeth for the necklace, the suit that Izuku wears has gold. And he's also wearing what looks like an African battle dress over it.
"Are you ready, Izuku?" T'Challa asked.
"I am." Izuku replied.
Putting on his helmet, he and the Black Panther crossed their arms in front of them as holes in the floor opened up. The two dropped and remained calm as they plummeted to the earth in the dead of night. But neither were scared. For they both know that now…
...The hunt begins.
Challenge Day
As T'Challa, or Black Panther, and Izuku descended from their shuttle the Prince of Wakanda tossed a handful of a Wakandan device known as Kimoyo Beads in the direction of the slavers and their caravan. The beads flattened out until they more or less resembled glowing disks, making them more aerodynamic and also prepping them for their main purpose. Each one landed on a vehicle and sent out an electromagnetic pulse that easily disabled them. The slavers found themselves unable to control their vehicles any longer as they crashed into various things including rocks, trees, and even each other's cars.
It didn't seem anyone was injured, but they sure were pissed off.
"What has happened?" demanded one of the slavers.
He and his partner groaned as they got out of their now totaled jeep and went to see what the problem was, both men having their rifles on hand just in case. They went over to another car, one that had crashed into a tree, to see if their crew was having any luck. But just like them, their car wouldn't start. The captain noticed something on the hood of the jeep his partner was driving, which had remained surprisingly undamaged.
It was one of T'Challa's Kimoyo Beads. Not that he knew that. He attempted to pry it off, but it wouldn't budge.
"What is it, Captain?" a slaver asked.
The man didn't respond right away. He checked his surroundings knowing that this was no coincidence. He and his fellow slavers may be quirkless, but they're by no means pushovers. Against those with weak and non-combative quirks, at least. However, even he knows that if a hero has found them and their operation then they're pretty much screwed. Still, they would not go down without a fight.
"Defense positions." ordered the captain.
The slavers started passing the message along to each other as they loaded their guns and got ready for a fight.
"Defense positions!" one slaver said to the ones guarding the caravan.
Inside were several Africans, mostly women, who had been captured to be sold into slavery on the black market. Though how this went unnoticed by the pro heroes of Africa is beyond me. Fortunately for them, though they don't know it yet, the Black Panther and his new apprentice have arrived to save them.
"No games." a slaver warned their cargo.
He loudly loaded his gun for emphasis on what would happen to any troublemakers and left with a small group to survey their surroundings. One of them sent their dog ahead to sniff out any heroes as the men turned on their lights and moved as stealthily as possible through the underbrush. They didn't get further than maybe twenty feet away before they caught up with the god literally barking up a tree. They aimed their rifles upwards as they checked and saw the Black Panther crouched on a tree branch!
The Captain didn't like the tense silence as they waited for the group to return. He put a finger to his ear and tried to contact them.
"What is it?"
Meanwhile, one of the women in the caravan started quietly moving out of the cargo area, shushing the other captives as she told them to remain quiet. She peeked over the side as she exited the vehicle and saw that the captain and his band of slavers were still focused on the forested area where the dog had been barking.
"Come in! Come-"
Suddenly one of the troops was sent flying out of the thick underbrush and slammed into one of the jeeps before falling unconscious. The slavers were quick to start shooting as they attempted to kill their assailant, not willing to risk being either killed or taken in by the heroes.
That's when Izuku leapt out from behind the slaver manning the gun turret with the grace of a jungle cat and sent him flying back with his claws. The suit was a little awkward for him considering it was built specifically for King T'Chaka when he was alive, but he was easily able to make do with what he had. Especially once T'Challa rushed in and joined the fight. The slavers were shooting like crazy as they tried to kill not one, but TWO Black Panthers, but their bullets did absolutely nothing!
Now don't be mistaken. Even if it appears that way, the bullets aren't really being deflected off of Izuku and T'Challa's suits. Instead the Vibranium that they're made from is absorbing the kinetic energy from the bullets and making them harmlessly fall to the ground mid flight. This worked out just fine for the two as they easily dispatched their enemies using various martial arts techniques in combination with their claws. Since he had the powers of the Black Panther granted to him by the Heart Shaped Herb, T'Challa was easily the more graceful and powerful combatant compared to his untrained apprentice.
Looking at how he fought and used a workable facsimile to Muy-Thai, it became clear that Izuku was copying the moves from memory and might be self taught in some instances of fighting. Not enough to be proficient, but certainly enough to hold his own.
Especially since he was able to Judo throw a slaver over his shoulder without even looking when the guy rushed him with a knife.
But the woman from the caravan wasn't about to sit on the sidelines. She picked up one of the guns that had been dropped by one of the goons and bashed one of them over the head with it before throwing it at another man's face. Right before she tackled him to the ground and knocked him out with a hard punch to the throat. Meanwhile, T'Challa and Izuku were easily taking down the remaining few thugs as T'Challa tripped one up and threw another one back by hooking his claws into the man's leg while Izuku punched another man's lights out. Soon they were down to two. T'Challa started walking to one of the slavers, who seemed a little too short to be a member of this gang, while Izuku sliced off one of the jeep doors and threw it at the other guy, knocking him out.
He grabbed the muzzle of the gun and was about to deal the finishing strike when he was suddenly kicked back by the woman who had helped them.
"T'Challa, no!" she shouted. "This one's just a boy!"
She quickly disarmed him and pulled down the bandana that was hiding the lower half of his face to reveal that it really was a boy. Probably only a few months older than Izuku.
"He got kidnapped as well." she explained.
"Nakia." he said as the woman discarded her disguise, thankfully wearing a green tunic and a pair of pants underneath. "Hi."
An awkward silence set in as the two stared at each other.
"I wanted to…"
"Hey!"
The three turned their attention to the remaining slaver, who had his gun pointed to one of the kidnapped women in an effort to use her as leverage. Needless to say, all three of them froze. They didn't know how to settle this without possibly causing the hostage to be killed.
"I have her! Don't move, I will shoot!" he said as T'Challa moved Nakia behind him.
But before anyone could do anything, the man was taken by surprise when Okoye cut his weapon from his hands and stabbed him through the gut with her spear. She removed it and caused his lifeless body to fall to the ground as the woman ran back to the caravan crying from the experience.
"You froze. Both of you." Okoye stated.
Izuku hung his head in shame, hating how he wasn't as aware of his surroundings as he should have been. T'Challa put a hand on the boy's shoulder in a reassuring manner.
"Don't let it get to you, Midoriya. Remember that from failing you learn from your mistakes. Take this experience, learn from it, and use it to grow both as a person and as a hero." he said.
Feeling a little better, Izuku nodded in acceptance as T'Challa gave him a pat on the back. They removed their helmets and turned to Nakia who wasn't too surprised to see Izuku. He had mentioned to her and to the council of Wakanda that he was taking on an apprentice. He had said that he saw much untapped potential in Izuku that he knew he could draw out and mold into a true hero, and having witnessed what the kid can do, Nakia had to agree.
"Why are you two here? You ruined my mission!" she asked.
"...My father is dead, Nakia." T'Challa informed with a heavy heart.
The woman was shocked by this news. King T'Chaka? Dead? It seemed impossible and yet she knew that her ex-husband wouldn't lie about something like the death of a family member.
"I will be crowned king tomorrow. I wish for you to be there." he said to her.
Nakia could only nod, not trusting her voice at that moment. She went to the freed captives and quickly instructed them to take the boy with them to a village that was close by. The now former captives thanked Nakia for her help in freeing them from what would surely have been hell on earth for all of them. As Nakia walked away, Okoye said one simple thing to all of them.
"Never speak a word of this day."
Needless to say they agreed not to reveal what they had seen. With her work done, Okoye joined the others as they boarded the shuttle and rose back up into the sky. They cloaked the ship and continued on their way to Wakanda as they mentally prepared themselves for when T'Challa would be crowned king of his people. The flight the rest of the way to Wakanda was a quiet one as a somber atmosphere set in. T'Challa and Nakia's fingers intertwined as they mourned the loss of King T'Chaka.
Even Izuku was mourning to a degree. He didn't know T'Challa's father personally, but from the stories that he's heard he was a noble man who was loved by just about everyone. He only hoped that he could live up to such a legacy, as he knows that as the apprentice to the Black Panther he may be expected to take up that mantle someday.
"Sister Nakia, Midoriya, my Prince… we are home." said Okoye.
They flew over the vast African wilderness of Wakanda, passing over people and animals alike as their shuttle was no longer invisible. As they approached what looked like a heavily forested mountain, T'Challa couldn't help but grin.
"This never gets old." he said.
Izuku wondered what the prince meant as the ship flew directly at the mountain…
...Only to phase right through what was in reality a cloaking shield! The capital city of Wakanda was even more beautiful than the green haired quirkless boy could have possibly imagined. Everything was clearly technologically advanced, even more than anywhere else on the planet, and yet the buildings all retained the same designs that reflected the culture of Africa. Izuku couldn't help but stare in awe and wonder, drawing a chuckle from the Black Panther. He reacted pretty much the same way the first time he experienced this.
A few minutes later, the shuttle docked at the royal palace where other warriors like Okoye, along with T'Challa's mother and sister, stood waiting for them. As the prince and his entourage disembarked from the shuttle and made their way to the queen and princess, Okoye's fellow warriors crossed their arms in the Wakandan salute.
"Queen Mother. Princess. My comfort for your loss." said Nakia as she bowed in respect.
"Thank you, Nakia. It is so good to have you back with us." Queen Ramona replied.
"Take her to the River Province to prepare her for the ceremony." instructed Okoye.
"Yes, General." her fellow warrior said.
She turned on her heel and started leading Nakia to the River Province in order to get her prepared for the ceremony. Nakia and T'Challa took one last glance at each other before T'Challa's sister, Shuri, asked a question that I'm pretty sure was on everyone's mind.
Well, everyone who wasn't there at least.
"Did he freeze?"
"They both did. Like a couple of antelope in headlights." Okoye replied with a grin.
Shuri laughed as she knew this would happen. But T'Challa and Izuku were not amused.
"Are you finished?" asked T'Challa.
Okoye kept her grin, but slammed the pommel of her spear on the ground twice as her remaining troops did the same. They walked off to do their own preparations for the ceremony while T'Challa and Izuku stayed behind to speak with Ramona and Shuri.
"So surprised my little sister came to see me off before our big day." T'Challa said to his sister.
"You wish! I'm here for the EMP Beads, I have developed an update." Shuri quipped in return.
"Update?" T'Challa asked. "No, it worked perfectly."
"I agree. They did their job and they did it right." Izuku added in agreement.
"Ah, but you see, young one, just because something works doesn't mean that it cannot be improved." Shuri said to the greenette.
"Teaching Izuku is my job, Shuri. What do you know?" T'Challa asked as he handed the beads over to his sister.
"More than you." replied Shuri.
As she walked off to get the EMP Beads to her lab, T'Challa called after her with a teasing remark as only siblings can do to each other.
"I can't wait to see what kind of update you make to your ceremonial outfit."
Shuri responded rather appropriately and flipped him the bird. A response that Izuku would have expected from a certain angry pomeranian that he used to call his best friend. But unlike him, Shuri's gesture wasn't done out of malice but out of a form of sibling teasing. Still, it was a little on the inappropriate side.
"Shuri!" the queen called after her with a warning tone.
"Sorry Mother!" Shuri apologized as she quickly halted the gesture.
"How are you feeling today, Mama?" T'Challa softly inquired of his mother.
Izuku stepped forward with his head bowed, attempting to show respect to the queen as best he could. He may not be the best when it comes to politics at this stage of his life, but he knows better than to be disrespectful when it comes to deceased loved ones. He knows what it's like to lose a family member all too well.
His father is, or rather was, Hisashi Midoriya. Hisashi was a powerful and respectable pro hero going by the moniker of The Inferno Hero, Sunburst. His quirk allowed him to breathe fire, and he trained with it to the point where he could easily breathe a torrent of red hot flames, or focus that fire into literal fireballs or condensed beams of flame. When Izuku was four all the way until he was ten his father held the number eleven spot on the pro hero leaderboard, and many people expected him to make it into the top ten.
But then, tragedy struck.
In a mission gone wrong, Hisashi died by using himself as a human shield to protect his fellow heroes from a particularly nasty villain who's quirk allowed them to turn their arms into an assortment of weapons, and convert their hair into ammo for when they used rifles. Hisashi managed to take down the villain with a well aimed fire ball, but at a terrible price.
He was the only hero to not make it out alive.
Izuku knows the dangers of being a pro hero better than anyone else in his age group because of that day. But it's only strengthened his resolve to become one. Not simply a hero who is in it for fame, money, or women, but a hero who protects those who can't protect themselves.
Even if it costs him his life.
"Prince T'Challa told me about what happened to the king. I am so sorry for your loss, your majesty. He sounded like a strong and wise king, and will be deeply missed." Izuku said.
"Thank you, Midoriya, for your kind words. But I feel no sadness today. For I am proud of my son." said Queen Ramona as she raised the boy's head to look up at her. "Your father and I would talk about this day all the time, T'Challa. He is with us, and it is your time to be king."
T'Challa honestly wasn't sure about that, but he would do his best to live up to his father's legacy. To be a great king like his father before him, and HIS father before HIM. But for now, he and Izuku both have a ceremony to prepare for.
(Back in Japan…)
Back at Aldera Middle School, Katsuki Bakugo was busy glaring at everything and everyone as per usual. He was always so angry with everyone and everything, but that was mostly the fault of his quirk. Because his quirk causes him to sweat nitroglycerin, which he can then ignite to cause explosions of varying power, his blood pressure is constantly in danger of dropping to a point where he could die. So he has to constantly be angry in order to keep his blood pressure at a safe level.
His only real reprieve from his anger was when he slept.
Ever since he first manifested his quirk, people have told him that he'd be a great hero with a quirk as powerful as his, and he agreed with them. He firmly believed that he was the absolute best and that he was the only one worthy to become the next Number One Hero. It seems that all of that endless praise has given the boy an ego that, if stretched out enough, would be long enough to lasso the entire state of Texas. In fact, I can already imagine it getting tangled in the cacti.
And it was because of his ego and all of this praise, Katsuki became Midoriya's biggest tormentor when the lad was 'diagnosed' quirkless when they were four years old. At first he hadn't been a bully to Izuku, at least not to the degree that he is now. It started out as simple small time things like name-calling and pushing him around at recess. But after Izuku stood up to him and two of his friends when they were picking on another kid with a weak quirk. Ever since that day, Katsuki changed even more… for the worst… And Izuku became in his eyes merely one thing.
A quirkless boy who was utterly useless to society.
A worthless Deku.
Katsuki glanced at the empty desk where his former friend would usually be seated throughout classes. According to his mother, someone from overseas had caught wind of Izuku's highly advanced intellect and his drive to learn, and offered the boy a chance to study overseas. It was in Africa, if he remembered correctly.
With a click of his tongue, Bakugo went back to brooding as the teacher droned on about the usual spiel that he was forced to sit through. What that useless nerd, as Bakugo calls him, chose to do about his education was of no concern to Bakugo in his mind. As long as he doesn't rise above his station and try to go for the hero course then Bakugo would at least leave him alone.
'I'll show that shitty Deku. I'll become the greatest hero the world has ever seen, and I'll be richer and more famous than All Might! That'll show that quirkless little shit why he shouldn't chase after an impossible dream! After all, why would they want that quirkless nerd when they can have someone like me?' Bakugo thought to himself.
(Later that Day, in Wakanda…)
It was time for a truly joyous occasion as all of Wakanda was gathering in a large waterway for the ceremony in which T'Challa would be crowned king. Upbeat music was playing as the people of Wakanda celebrated. Shuri was even dancing with Midoriya, guiding him through the steps as he took to it like a fish to water. He wasn't perfect by any means, but at least he wasn't making a fool of himself and didn't dance as though he had two left feet. And like everyone else, he too was garbed in a ceremonial outfit of Wakandan design.
It consisted of a simple Swahili warrior's battle dress with a pair of shorts underneath. He was shirtless and barefoot which showed that while he had been training himself in combat to try and become a hero, he's not overly buffed up like most other hero hopefuls. Still, he does have more defined muscle mass than the average kid his age. They ignored the scars and burn marks caused by certain students at his old school bullying him using their quirks. (If there was one thing about Bakugo, at least unlike them he didn't use his quirk to cause bodily harm to Midoriya… yet.) To complete his ceremonial outfit, Izuku had his face and shoulders painted to look as if he appeared to have markings like those of a jaguar, and a pair of big cat jawbones tied to the sides of his lower jaw.
Finally, it was time to begin the ceremony in earnest. With a sort of war cry spoken in their native language, Okoye and her fellow warriors slammed their spears on the raft they were standing on, which triggered a sonic wave that activated special drains within the river basin itself. As the water drained out it revealed a huge waterfall with built-in stands. Wakandans began to walk in through a sort of cave system as they stood with the members of their respective tribes, ready to watch the ceremony.
Izuku was guided down onto the main platform of the waterfall where the royal shaman stood holding a very large spear. The boy was handed some weapons of his own, a short sword and a shield, having been informed that as T'Challa's chosen apprentice he would have to fight someone else who could become the apprentice of the new king or queen should anyone challenge T'Challa for the throne and win. Needless to say, the fluffy green bean was quite nervous.
But he held his head high as T'Challa's shuttle pulled in and the man disembarked. He was dressed similarly to Izuku and had his upper body covered in war paint for the sole purpose of the possible fight that may go down today. And like Izuku, he had a weapon and a shield of his own. Finally, the elderly Shaman slammed the bottom of his spear on the ground, silencing the crowd.
"I Zuri, son of Badu, give to you Prince T'Challa… the Black Panther! And his chosen apprentice, Izuku Midoriya!" he announced.
The crowd cheered as T'Challa crossed his arms in the Wakandan salute with Izuku following his example. As the cheering stopped, another shaman approached Zuri with a bowl full of a strange liquid that Izuku didn't recognize. But he knew that it must have some importance if it was present at this ceremony.
"The prince will now have the strength of the Black Panther stripped away."
T'Challa knelt down as Zuri brought the bowl to his lips. He drank the contents of the bowl with some difficulty and began to shudder and shake as he felt the power of the Heart Shaped Herb forcibly leaving him. Like he was instructed earlier, Izuku crossed his arms and lightly shook his shoulders up and down as those in the crowd did the same. He looked up at the crowd, his breathing labored as T'Challa endured the process of the ritual. After a brief moment, T'Challa sighed and stood up as he was no longer in pain from the ritual.
"Damaku…" said Zuri.
"Damaku…" the crowd echoed.
All fell silent and still as the atmosphere became quite serious.
"Victory in ritual combat comes by yield, or death. If any tribe wishes to put forth a warrior, I now offer a path to the throne." Zuri said.
The Merchant Tribe warrior cried out in the African language as his tribemates shouted soon after.
"The merchant tribe will not challenge today." said the elder of the tribe.
Next to call out was the warrior of the Border Tribe followed by his own people.
"The border tribe will not challenge today." said the elder.
Nakia calls out her own war cry, representing the River Tribe.
"The river tribe will not challenge today." this elder also said.
Though how he can speak properly with that mouth piece is beyond me. In fact, it looks uncomfortable and more than a little painful. But I'm getting off topic.
The final warrior, the fighter representing the Mining Tribe, called out his own war cry as his elder gave her decision.
"The mining tribe will not challenge today." said the final elder.
"Is there any member of a royal blood who wishes to challenge for the throne?" Zuri asked.
To everyone's surprise, including that of T'Challa and Izuku, Shuri actually raised her hand. Was she challenging her brother for the right to rule over Wakanda?
"This corset is really uncomfortable, so could we just wrap this up so we can all go home?" Shuri asked.
Her mother pinched her for asking such a question as she garnered various reactions. Mainly groans of annoyance and facepalms from the older members of the gathered tribes and some laughter from the younger and more immature members. T'Challa just smiled and shook his head at his sister's antics while Izuku mentally sighed in relief.
But before anything else could be said or done, a new sound echoed through the waterfall. It was the sound of wooden drums playing a tune of war and a powerful chant that sounded like it was mixed with ape calls. If you listened closely, you could hear that the chant goes 'Mbaayelfza ya hoo hoo' even though it doesn't quite sound like that. From another cave, six men and a boy about two years older than Izuku emerged while chanting as the drums were played. The Border Tribe warrior made a move to intervene, but he was stopped by his elder.
"Are they Jabari?" Shuri asked her mother.
"Yes!..." she nervously replied.
The men continued their chant as a man wearing a screeching gorilla mask walked up to T'Challa, his upper body painted white with a texture similar to ape fur. His weapon of choice was a wooden spear with a heavy stone club at the other end. The men abruptly ended the chant as the masked man removed his mask.
"M'Baku, what are you doing here?" demanded Shuri.
The man, M'Baku, merely smirked at the shaman and gave a single response.
"It's challenge day."
M'Baku turned to the crowd and began to monologue as he made his opinions on certain things about the situation in Wakanda well known. Especially in regards to the technology of Wakanda.
"We have watched and listened from the mountains. We have watched with disgust as your technological advancements have been overseen by a child!..." exclaimed M'Baku as he gestured to Shuri with his spear. "...Who scoffs at tradition!"
Turning to T'Challa, M'baku proceeded to get nose to nose with the prince as he continued his monologue.
"And now you want to hand the nation over to this prince… who could not keep his own father safe. Hmmm?"
Both T'Challa and Izuku glared at the leader of the Jabari. That was just a low blow right there, and he knows that. But something tells me that he doesn't care. It reminds Izuku of how Katsuki had mocked Izuku's own father's death saying that if he was so weak that he couldn't take that villain down without dying first, then he deserved what happened to him.
Needless to say, Izuku beat the exploding pomeranian black and blue that day. And Katsuki's parents actually sided with Izuku about that. You don't mock the dead without suffering the consequences.
"We will not have it. I say we! Will! Not! Have it, oh!" M'Baku all but screeched. "I, M'Baku, leader of the Jabari will…"
"I accept your challenge, M'Baku." T'Challa said.
M'Baku just smirked and said "Glory to Hanuman.".
As M'Baku, T'Challa, and their apprentices mentally prepare themselves for ritual combat, some of the tribes of Wakanda began to play an upbeat rhythm on their drums. Zuri and his fellow shaman put a pair of panther masks on their two champions while M'Baku and his apprentice put their ape masks on. M'Baku calls for his men to form a semicircle around him as they aimed their spears at the group. T'Challa did the same, calling in Xhosa for Okoye and her fellow Dora Milaje who also formed a semicircle around the group effectively boxing them in while preparing to slowly force them closer to the edge of the waterfall as the fight dragged on.
"Let the challenge begin!" exclaimed Zuri.
With a beat from his spear, the fight began.
The warriors clash, both with great skill. But in this case M'Baku has superior strength. T'Challa eludes a salvo of swings, then is driven back by the tip of M'Baku's spear against his shield. Knocking M'Baku's spear free, T'Challa is hammered onto his back but instantly springs up to dodge more attacks and counter with two fierce kicks. As for Izuku, he immediately dropped his weapon and shield as his opponent slipped into a boxing stance. The two traded blows with Izuku utilizing the flexibility and speed of Tae Kwon Do which helped quite a bit considering his smaller, thinner frame compared to the more bulky and powerful body type of his opponent. And while these two are having a battle of fists, let's shift our focus to T'Challa's fight with M'Baku.
After all, this fight is all about crowning a new king for Wakanda.
M'Baku spits blood and bangs his chest. The rest of the Jabari warriors respond. T'Challa salutes the crowd and they respond louder! M'Baku charges at T'Challa, knuckle-walking, and slipping his assault, T'Challa grabs M'Baku's spear and cartwheels over it to land another kick.
The two continue to battle, blocking and trading blunt strikes, until M'Baku delivers a backhand that knocks T'Challa off his feet near the Dora's spears. With the deadly spears at his back, T'Challa blocks colossal overhead blows with his shield, then M' Baku leans with all his strength trying to impale T'Challa on the tip of his spear. Clubbing M'Baku to his heels, T'Challa rushes forward for an aerial attack only to be met by a vicious kick.
"Where is your god now?" M'Baku mockingly asked.
Defenseless, T'Challa dodges several swipes from the stronger man's spear before M'Baku corrals him into a bear hug and delivers a crushing headbutt several times. Each strike causing damage and nearly knocking the prince into unconsciousness.
"No powers. No claws. No special suit, oh! Just a boy not fit to lead!" M'Baku shouted.
"Show them who you are!" shouted Queen Ramona to her son.
With the fire in his heart burning even more intensely from his mother's words, T'Challa roared like a panther and struck back at M'Baku, hitting him with a devastating headbutt that cracked the man's mask. Then striking twice more in the exact same spot to break the mask, sending M'Baku stumbling back and drawing blood. M'Baku wiped his face and saw the blood before roaring in rage and charging in, managing to impale T'Challa in the shoulder with his spear!
T'Challa cried out in agony as the sharp wooden weapon was twisted and driven deeper into T'Challa's flesh as the prince held it back from going all the way through. But he did not let this deter him. He gathered his fortitude and held his ground.
"I am Prince T'Challa… son of King T'Chaka!"
"You can do this, T'Challa!" shouted Shuri, encouraging her brother.
T'Challa forced the spear out of his body and sent M'Baku stumbling back a Jabari leader tried to gore T'Challa again, but he was ready for him. He quickly caught the spear and forced it down into the water with his knee, possibly breaking the weapon, and kicked M'Baku onto his back and into the water. Wasting no time, T'Challa grabbed the other man and got him in a powerful grapple to where he couldn't move and could barely breathe. The crowd cheered at this maneuver as T'Challa and M'Baku were now dangerously close to the waterfall's edge.
One slip, and they'd both plummet to their doom.
"Yield! Don't make me kill you." exclaimed T'Challa.
"I would rather die!" M'Baku managed to say.
T'Challa continued to grapple M'Baku while slowly suffocating him, Izuku was also having his own troubles of trying not to break his opponent's neck from the full nelson he'd gotten his opponent into. If there's one thing about the Jabari's warriors, it's that they're as stubborn as they come. The crowd was chanting T'Challa's name as they cheered for their prince.
"You have fought with honor! Now yield! Your people need you." T'Challa urged M'Baku.
Said man was slipping in and out of unconsciousness from the lack of oxygen, but he heard what T'Challa said and knew he was right. Though he'd probably never say it out loud.
"YIELD, MAN!" screamed T'Challa.
Finally with some difficulty, M'Baku tapped out and gave up. The crowd went wild as T'Challa and Izuku dropped their holds on their opponents. Both raised a fist in victory as two members of the Jabari assisted in helping their leader back to their home in the mountains.
"I now present to you… King T'Challa… the Black Panther!" Shuri announced as he placed a necklace of panther teeth around T'Challa's neck.
The two longtime friends hugged each other as the crowd cheered for the coronation of their new king. One whom they knew would be just as great a king as his father was, if not better. As they separated, T'Challa and Izuku faced the crowd and crossed their arms in the Wakandan salute.
"WAKANDA FOREVER!" the two shouted.
"WAKANDA FOREVER!" the crowd shouted back as they too saluted.

Alright everyone, it's been an awesome and exciting new chapter of MHA: Chronicles of the Golden Jaguar. Now I know some people are gonna be like "Oh, but everyone knows about the fan theory where All For One is Izuku's father, so why isn't he here?". "You have to make All For One Izuku's dad!", NO! No I do not! Everyone has their own way of portraying the characters in their stories, this is my way of doing things with Izuku's dad and if you don't like it, then too bad! I'm not changing it! But anyway, please don't forget to leave a review for the new chapter, and I'll see you all in my next update. See you next time!
Also there's still time to vote on the poll that I have on my profile. So if you haven't, then I encourage you to please go and cast your votes.
Poll Question: I'm going to write a My Hero Academia story starring my own OC who is Izuku and Momo's son. Which would you prefer this story to be?
