Chapter 9 (Old Friends)
A few days have passed by. Emilia and Rem made up with each other for the fight they had. It took some time but they got there. Emilia though has not totally moved on from the incident. She was very embarrassed and refused to be in the same room as Rem for days. Eventually though she started to move on from the incident, a part of her still hasn't moved on. She was still somewhat sad that she got rejected, even though she told Subaru she's fine. On the inside she was heartbroken still.
As the days passed Rem waited more eagerly for the next election meeting. Rem and Subaru took over the house chorus. Neither of them had yet to tell Rosswal about Ram nomination. Rem knew Rosswal wished for Emilia to ascend to the throne. She was scared Rosswal would get angry when he learned that her sister was going against her. Ultimately going against his wishes
Eventually an election meeting was called. Rem was very excited to see her sister. When Emilia told Rem that the meeting has been called Rem couldn't help but jump up in excitement
Rem, Emilia, and Subaru all agreed to set out to the capital the next morning
Rem wanted the next morning to come as soon as possible, so she went to sleep very early. Subaru shot her a confused look when she told him she was going to bed
"Rem… It's only 4:45. That is way too early" Subaru said. Rem didn't care how ealy it was she wanted the next morning to come as soon as possible. Rem walked off back to her room. Subaru decided to go talk to Emilia and Puck in the garden for awhile
"Hello Emilia and Puck" Subaru said as he walked over to them. Emilia smiled and waved at him when she saw Subaru walking over. She was glad Subaru wanted to spend time with her
"Hi Subaru, what brings you here?" Emilia asked
"Rem decided to go to bed. So I figured that I might as well spend some time with you" Subaru said as he sat down across from Emilia
"Why is she going to bed? It's not that late" Emilia asked
"She is pretty excited to see her sister. So she decided to check in as early as possible" Subaru said
"Oh well.. I guess that makes sense. Anyway it gives us some time to talk" Emilia said happily . Subaru nodded. He knew that now was a good time to break the news to Emilia that he and Rem would be living in Japan instead of staying with Rosswal. He knew he couldn't keep more secrets from Emilia. Especially after her fight with Rem
"Emilia, I actually have something I need to tell you," Subaru said in a serious voice. Emilia and Puck looked at Subaru ready for what he had to tell them
Subaru was a bit reluctant to tell Emilia. He didn't want her to get heart broken like she did when she found out he and Rem were together. But she was going to find out eventually. Might as well tear the bandage off fast
"Emilia… Me and Rem will be heading back to Japan in a couple of days. Me and Rem have decided that it would be best for both of us to live there. Since there are more opportunities available" Subaru said. Subaru was preparing for Emilia to burst out into tears.
But to Subarus surprise Emilia did not tear up nor did she get upset. Though her facial expression did go blank, and her smile faded.
"I… I understand…" Emilia said in a slightly sad tone. Emilia knew from how Subaru talked about his world. That Subarus world is a world of vast opportunities. She couldn't blame either Subaru or Rem for wanting to live their lives there instead of in Lugnica
"You do?" Subaru asked. He was very surprised at Emilia's calm and composed response. Emilia nodded her head
"Yes Subaru, I understand. From what you told me, Japan sounds so much different from Lugnica. You are surrounded by so much amazing technology. It must be great to live a good life there, " Emilia said. Subaru smiled, he was happy Emilia was taking the news well. Though really on the inside she was very sad to see that Subaru was leaving her.
"Emilia… Just know that me and Rem will still be over to visit often. I will see you again. I promise" Subaru said. A light smile came to Emilia's face
"Please do Subaru," Emilia said. Subaru nodded. Puck didn't know what to say. He was also sad to see Subaru and Rem go, but he also understood their decision. Even Though Puck didn't believe sixty percent of what Subaru said about his world
"So what do you and Rem plan to do once you get to Japan?" Emilia asked.
"That's a good question actually. I am not to certain" Subaru said
Subarus smile faded slightly as he remembered that he still had one more year of school to go through. Subaru hated school more than anything. His school life got so bad to the point he refused to even go, but he knew if he wanted to give Rem and himself a good future he needed to tough it out one more year.
"Actually…. I need to finish my senior year of school. In Japan it's hard to find a good job without a highschool diploma" Subaru said
"Subaru, how does schooling work in your world?" Emilia asked
"In Japan, school teaches the youth a variety of different things. People in my world usually start school when they are usually four or five years old. People remain in school until they are 18 years old most of the time" Subaru said
"I see… That sounds great, Subaru. It must be amazing being able to attend school everyday as a child and learn about a bunch of wonderful things" Emilia said. Subaru shook his head immediately
"For me school life has just been nothing but problems. It started out fine, but it grew gradually worse. I don't want to go back," Subaru said
"Why Subaru?" Emilia asked
"You see, I am not liked by a lot of people in school. I am often the target of being picked on. I also have no friends. So I am just on my own when it comes to my school life" Subaru siad
"Why don't you bring Rem with you? She can give you company. It could make it easier" Emilia said
"Emilia, Rem still isn't quite adjusted to my world, but she does learn fast I guess. She is quite smart. But still she has a lot of things she needs to learn. I don't think it would be a good idea to enroll her in senior year" Subaru said
"Just take her with you and see what happens. She can keep your spirits high, and help you get through it" Emilia said. Subaru knew Emilia was right. Rem could help Subaru tremendously when it came to his school life. She helpt Subaru not give up in a time of extreme desperation. She could do it again. Subaru then ran into a brick wall
"Even if I wanted to take her I couldn't. In order to enroll in schools you need to have birth certificates, IDs, government documents that Rem can't get because she wasn't born there. She can't even apply to get them because Rem does not have any identification on what country she's from" Subaru said
Puck flew off of Emilia's shoulder
"One minute," Puck said. Eventually a couple of papers materialized on the ground in front of Subaru. Subaru picked up the pile of papers. He took the first paper on top of the pile and inspected it
"Birth registration form…. Rem Rosswal…" Subaru read out. Subaru turned to look at Puck
Really Puck, Rem Rosswal?" Subaru said. Puck just shrugged. Subaru turned his attention to reading the rest of the paper
"Birthday… February 2nd…"
"Parents, Quark Rosswal, and Tamae Rosswal…."
"Well Puck I got to say I am very impressed you are able to even do this" Subaru said
"Never underestimate the power of a spirit" Puck replied
"I can't believe I just watched Puck commit fraud right in front of me" Subaru said in his mind. Subaru was hoping there wasn't any mistakes in the papers that could cause problems with Rems identity
"So is Rem clear to go to school with you Subaru?" Emilia asked. Subaru set down the papers
"Well… I guess, but I still need to teach her a lot more things. I guess the rest of my summer is going to be spent teaching Rem. I just hope I can teach her everything she needs to know. I want her to keep her grades up" Subaru said
Subaru was scared to take Rem with him to senior year. He knew Rem needed to be enrolled in the same grade as him in order to stay near him. Subaru didn't want Rem to be separated from him, because she might get confused at some of the stuff mentioned in class. Subaru wanted to be right next her to answer any questions she may ask
Subaru was scared of Rem getting bullied like he was. He also thought that since this was senior year everyone had hopefully matured by now. Subaru decided it would be best for him and Rem to keep social interactions to a minimum
"Thanks a lot Puck. Anyway I am going to go check on Rem. See you guys tomorrow" Subaru said as he got up. Subaru picked up the papers on the ground and made his way back indoors
"Alright bye Subaru!" Emilia said as she smiled and waved. Subaru walked back to the mansion
While walking down the hallways Subaru came across Rosswal
"Oh hello Rosswal" Subaru said cheerfully. Rosswal smiled
"Hello Subaru. I am going on a business trip and will be gone for a couple days. It has come to my attention that an election meeting was called. So if you could please be so kind to accompany Emilia to the capital with either Rem, or Ram." Rosswal said
Subaru remembered that Rosswal had been unaware of Rams candidacy. For the past couple days Subaru and Rem have been doing all the housework
Subaru knew he had to break it to Rosswal eventually. Like Rem, he was just scared of his reaction. Rosswal gave Subaru some unsettling vibes sometimes
"Another thing Subaru. Have you seen Ram? I can't seem to find her anywhere" Rosswal said
"Oh ummm… Rosswal, I have been meaning to tell you this. Do you remember when Reinhard was here to go on a date with Ram?" Subaru asked. Rosswal nodded his head
"Well… Emilia dropped her royal insignia, and Ram picked it up, and Reinhard noticed the insignia choose her to partake in the royal election" Subaru said
Rosswals expression froze after Subaru told him this. His facial expression was blank. It freaked Subaru out very much. Subaru watched as an unsettling sinister smile spread across his face
"Well what a surprise…. Thank you Subaru for telling me. I will be on my way now. Tell Ram I will be over to visit her very soon. Where is she staying exactly?" Rosswal asked
Subaru was reluctant to tell him. He didn't like this sinister vibe he was getting off of Rosswal one bit
"Ummmm… I dont… know" Subaru said. Rosswal still kept his smile
"You said Reinhard took her, didnt you?" Rosswal asked. Subaru nodded his head slowly
"That's all I needed to know. Well I will be on my way now. I know this will be the last time we will be able to meet for a while since you will be heading back to your world soon with Rem. So safe travels" Rosswal said as he started to walk off
Subaru stood there and didn't take his eyes off Rosswal as he walked down the hallway
"Yeah sure… See you soon I guess" Subaru said before departing further down the hallway. Rosswal made his way down the hallways. Even after Subaru left he still kept his gigantic smile. "It's all coming together" Rosswal said to himself as he watched Subaru walk off
Subaru was still unsettled at Rosswals reaction. He didn't like the sinister smile that was plastered on his face. Something within Subaru told him something was up, but he couldnt put his finger on it. He didn't know what Rosswal was intending to do when he visited Ram
Subaru knew Rosswal was aware about Reinhard's status as being the most powerful knight in all of Lugnica. He knew if Rosswal would try and do anything to harm Ram it would just be a death sentence. Surely Rosswal was aware of that as well. Subaru's worries eased a bit when he took into consideration Ram had Rinehard protecting her, but Subaru was still unsettled
He made his way to Rems room to see how she was doing. He didn't want to knock and wake up Rem just incase she was actually sleeping
He opened the door carefully, and saw Rem laying in bed with her eyes closed. Subaru walked over to see if she was actually sleeping. He noticed that Rem's breathing pattern was off. Usually Subaru would relax to how Rem breathed while she sleeping
"Rem, are you awake?" Subaru asked. Rem opened her eyes
"Yes" Rem responded. She immediately shut them again attempting to fall asleep. Subaru laughed
"Rem you are like a child on Christmas," Subaru said. Rem opened her eyes again
"Christmas?" Rem asked. Subaru remembered Rem didn't know any of his worlds holidays
"Nevermind, anyway Rem I have something to ask you" Subaru said
"What is it, Subaru?" Rem asked. Subaru showed her the papers in his hands
"Rem I wanted to know if you... wanted to come to school with me?" Subaru asked. A smile came across Rems face as she nodded
"Yes Subaru of course Rem would love to come with you" Rem said excitedly
"Alright then" Subaru responded. He still had his strong concerns about Rem coming with him, but decided to put most of them aside for now
"Rem you need to focus really hard on your studies. It's going to be a little bit more difficult for you since you are going straight into senior year. I promise to teach you as much as I can, but you gotta be able to do some of it by yourself at some point" Subaru said
"Rem is still excited to join you. I promise to put everything I can into studying. We could study together" Rem said excitedly. Subaru nodded
"Anyways, Rem wants to go to sleep. I want to visit Nee-Sama tomorrow" Rem said
"Rem it's still way too early to fall asleep," Subaru said as he opened the curtains to look at the sun that still shined brightly. Rem buried her face in her pillow
"What else am I supposed to do Subaru" Rem asked
"I don't know Rem," Subaru said, shrugging his shoulders. Rem lifted her head from her pillow and turned to look at Subaru. An idea had sprung in her mind
Subaru noticed a smile spread across her face, as her horn grew from her forehead. Subaru gulped as he knew exactly was going to happen to him
The next morning Subaru woke up sleeping next to Rem. Subaru was still exhausted from last night. It took Rem seven hours nonstop to finally pass out. Subaru felt like he was going to die from dehydration. Subaru turned over to look at Rem and found her fast asleep. With her signature adorable facial expression
The other day Beatrice gave Subaru back one of the phones. The phones were successfully linked, and Subaru could now call Beatrice through a mana transfusion when he was back in his world
Subaru reached for his phone on the nightstand. He flipped it open, and activated the camera feature. He aimed the camera at Rem intending to snap a photo of her sleeping expression
He took the photo, and the camera flashed as it took the picture. Rem awoke when the flash hit her eyes. Subaru looked at the phone and smiled at the picture. He was glad to forever have that image of Rem
"Good morning Subaru" Rem said as she awoke. Subaru closed the phone to look at Rem
"Oh good morning Rem, I didn't mean to wake you," Subaru said. Subaru couldn't help but reach out and move Rems hair so he could see her other eye
"Subaru today is the day I get to see Nee-Sama again" Rem said happily as she looked at Subaru. Subaru looked into both of her blue eyes and nodded
"I know Rem. I also can't wait to see her. I wonder how she feels about all this election stuff" Subaru said
Subaru and Rem got up, and got ready for their trip to the capital. After a couple hours they were making their way to the election meeting with Emilia. They were all very curious to see how Ram was doing.
They eventually arrived near noon, and pulled up by the castle the meeting was meant to take place. Subaru looked up at the big castle he could never get enough of the sights the capital had to offer
The three walked up to the castle, but at the entrance they were stopped by the guard on duty. The knight stopped Subaru and Rem from entering
"No outsiders allowed during the election meeting" The knight said. Emilia turned to look at him
"They are with me," Emilia said. The knight nodded and they were allowed entry. While walking to the election room. Emilia was approached by Julius
"Hello Miss Emilia. It's a pleasure to meet you again" Julius said in a formal tone bowing
Last time Subaru remembered getting jealous of how Julius would talk to Emilia, but this time he was more supportive of Julius' actions. Mainly because he already choose Rem, and wanted Emilia to have that somebody
Julius noticed this. He looked at Subaru with a strange look on his face. He was wondering why Subaru was so comfortable with him being close to Emilia. He then looked at the blue haired girl Subaru was standing next to. He looked down at her hand, and noticed it was holding Subarus
Julius put two and two together. He was surprised to say the very least. He was expecting Subaru to stick with Emilia. He noticed Subaru gave him a smile and a thumbs up. He got the hint and smiled back
"Miss Emilia I was wondering if you would like to join me to have lunch after the meeting is over" Julius offered bowing again
Emilia was thinking of an answer. Until Subaru put a hand on her shoulder
"She would love to," Subaru said on Emilia's behalf. Julius smiled
"Great, see you after the meeting" Julius said as he walked off. Emilia turned to look at Subaru with a slightly annoyed look on her face. She noticed Subarus massive smile
"What?" Subaru asked
"Nothing" Emilia answered as she continued to the meeting hall. Subaru and Rem followed. Eventually the room filled up with knights. Subaru and Rem felt kind of awkward considering they stood out from everyone else. Emilia stood in front with the other candidates
Eventually the council of wisemen came forward and the meeting officially began. About ten minutes into the meeting one of the wise men called Rinehard to step forward. Rinehard did as instructed and stepped forward
Rem and Subaru looked at eachother. They knew it was time for Ram's grand reveal. Rem was very excited
"Sir Reinhard you were the one who called this meeting. May you tell us your reason" One of the wisemen asked
"I have called this meeting because I have found the fifth candidate required to begin the election process," Reinhard said. Everybody was shocked they weren't expecting to find another candidate so soon. It has only been a couple weeks since Felt announced her resignation
"It would be my honor to introduce the candidate. Who I Reinhard Van Astra believes is the rightful candidate to the throne " Rinehard turned to look at the door at the end of the hall. He held out his hand, and the massive doors slowly opened. Emilia turned to look at the door already expecting Ram to walk forward
"Ram" Reinhard announced as Ram walked down the carpet. Revealing herself to the knights and the grand council. She was dressed up in a pink dress that matched her hair colour. As Ram walked down the carpet she heard Rem call out to her
"Hi Nee-Sama" Rem said as Ram passed her and Subaru. Ram turned to look at Rem and smiled
Rem turned to look at Subaru "Look at the dress Nee-Sama is dressed in. She looks really pretty" Rem whispered
"She looks like a Pikmin," Subaru said, laughing a bit. Rem looked at Subaru weirdly
"What's a Pikmin?" Rem asked
"Dont worry about it" Subaru responded
Ram felt very uncomfortable and overwhelmed at the presence of so many royal eventually reached the end of the carpet and stood next to the other four candidates. Three of which were looking at her judgingly. Ram looked at the council of wise men. The wise men inspected every inch of Ram
Ram got even more nervous. Ram was only the head main of Rosswal, she was not used to being the center of attention to so many important figures. Ram looked at Rinehard with worried eyes. She didn't know what was happening. Reinhard just shot her a reassuring smile
"A fifth candidate you say. Well then I guess we can once again begin the election process once more" One of the wise men said
"Sir Reinhard are you aware that the last candidate you backed ended up withdrawing. How could we be confident to begin the election process, and not have her withdraw" Another wise men spoke up
Ram turned to look at the wisemen that spoke "I have no plans to withdraw from the election process" Ram said in a formal tone bowing her head
"That's exactly what the other candidate said, but she ended up withdrawing regardless after a few weeks" The wise man said as he looked at Ram
"You have my word that no matter what happens I will not withdraw" Ram said. The wise men nodded
"We will see about that. Anyway now that the fifth candidate has been found. We hereby announce the election process shall finally begin" One of the wise men said
Once the meeting concluded everybody started dispersing
"Finally" Subaru said relieved that the extremely boring meeting was finally over
"Where's Nee-Sama?" Rem asked trying to look past the crowd of people
Rem was able to look past the crowd and saw Ram at the end of the Room . Rem's smile grew when she finally had the chance to talk to her sister. Rem ran over to her as fast as she could, Subaru followed behind her
"Hi Nee-Sama!" Rem yelled out as she ran down the carpet. Rams attention turned to Rem. She smiled when she saw Rem's excited face. Rem ran up and hugged her sister tightly
"Hello Rem" Ram said as she hugged her back. Ram didn't expect Rem to go in for that big of a hug. Subaru eventually caught up
"Look at you Ram, from a simple maid to a royal candidate. Clearly a philosophical masterpiece" Subaru said. Ram looked at Subaru weirdly. She didn't have any words to say to that comment
"Nee-Sama, how have you been doing? Hows being a royal candidate?" Rem asked breaking away from Ram to stand close to Subaru
"I have been doing fine Rem. Sir Reinhard has helped me alot to get used to everything a royal candidate is responsible with" Ram said turning to look at Reinhard. Rinehard smiled at her.
Reinhard was happy to be given credit for helping Ram adjust to be a royal candidate. He also liked how compliant Ram was. With Felt Reinhard had to practically fight a war. All while getting barraged by insults. It never bothered Reinhard, but he was grateful to be backing a candidate like Ram who actually complied with him and didn't insult him at every opportunity given
"So Ram, where have you been staying? Are you going to return to Rosswals mansion?" Subaru asked
Ram paused for a minute before responding "For the past couple of days I have been staying on Reinhard's domain. It was not an easy decision, but I decided to remain on his domain throughout the election process" Ram said
"That's great Ram, It must be amazing to have a powerful knight like Reinhard as your knight" Subaru said surprised
Subaru knew for a fact Rosswal had a special place in Ram's heart, and was surprised to see her stay elsewhere other than the mansion. Subaru was also relieved she was staying with Reinhard. After his eerie encounter with Rosswal. He wanted to make sure Ram was as safe as possible
He had no idea what Rosswal was up to. A part of Subaru thought that he was overreacting, and nothing was going to happen to Ram. But he still felt unsettled
"It was by no means an easy choice. I intend on going back to Rosswal the second the election is done. It's just that staying close to my knight seems to be the logical option. Sir Reinhard is quite busy so needs to remain close to the capital,'' Ram said
Ram was still on the fence about staying with Rinehard. She loved Rosswal, and did not want to leave him so soon
"Miss Ram I truly am honoured to have been brought into consideration while deciding your place of residence in the election process," Rinehard said. Ram smiled and nodded
"Well look at that Reinhard. You did the one thing that took me months to do. That is make Ram genuinely smile" Subaru said impressed
"Unlike you Barusu, Sir Reinhard is not loud, annoying, or useless. He always keeps a professional and useful manner around the people who surround them. Something you should be taking notes on" Ram said
"Oh come on, I have yet to see you even smile in front of Rosswal!" Subaru said
"Barusu, have you talked to Master Rosswal about my candidacy?" Ram asked changing the topic
"Yes…. I did. He told me he was going to come visit you soon" Subaru said. Ram nodded her head. Ram really hoped Rosswal wasn't mad about her entry into the royal election
Rem eventually stepped forward "Nee-Sama, me and Subaru are going to be returning to Japan soon…" Rem said in a semi sad tone. Ram knew Subaru and Rem would be departing soon. She was sort of glad to be in the royal election. She had a better way to get her mind off the loneliness of being away from her sister. Ram could do all the housework from muscle memory. It wasn't really difficult work for her
"Please be safe Rem" Ram said
"I am confused. Can you please tell me about this place you call Japan? Doesn't sound like anywhere I heard of '' Reinhard asked. Everybody's face dropped. They completely forgot Reinhard was standing right there listening in
"Ummmmm uhhhhh" Subaru didnt know what to say. Should he tell him the truth, or should he lie
"It's my home country.." Subaru said. Reinhard nodded his head
"I see…" Reinhard said, confused. He never heard of this country called Japan. In fact he wasn't even sure it was real. Surely he would of known about it being a royal knight
"Rem can you and Emilia please leave for a minute. I need to say a few words to Barusu" Ram asked. Rem nodded and went in for one last departing hug before taking off with Emilia out of the castle and back to the carriage
After Rem and Emilia left, Ram turned her attention to Subaru "Barusu…. Please keep Rem safe" Ram said
"I will Ram. I promise you that you will see her again. I guarantee it" Subaru said. Ram nodded in acknowledgement
The clock tower in the capital chimed. Rinehard turned to face Ram "Miss Ram we need to make our way to another meeting" Reinhard said. Ram nodded
"Wait Reinhard before you go with Ram can I tell you something in private" Subaru asked
"Sure, but it needs to be quick Subaru," Reinhard said. Ram walked off leaving Rinehard and Subaru alone
Subaru looked at Rinehard with the most serious expression he could pull "Rinehard… When Rosswal comes to visit Ram. Please keep her safe" Subaru said. Rinehard shot him a slightly confused look
"Is there a reason to be concerned about Rosswal?" Reinhard asked
"Well… When I told him about Rams candidacy he gave me a weird sinister smile. I just… I don't like it one bit. So please don't take your sights off her. Just be on the lookout for anything odd" Subaru said
"I swore to protect Miss Ram no matter what. So you don't have to worry, Subaru. Anyway I need to be on my way. I hope to see you again" Rinehard said as he walked off
Subaru smiled. He felt better knowing Ram was staying on Reinhard's domain. He also felt better that she had Reinhard protecting her. Subaru walked out of the building, and made his way to the carriage
Emilia went off on to go have lunch with Julius. So it left Subaru and Rem alone. Eventually a couple hours passed, and Emilia came back
"Hello Subaru and Rem. You guys can take off back to the mansion. I am going to be staying here with Julius for a couple days" Emilia said happily
Subaru smiled; he knew her time with Julius was an excellent time for her. He was happy to see her this happy with someone after he chose Rem
"Emilia me and Rem are going to be heading back to Japan in a couple of days. Please take care, and check up on Ram when you can. If anything happens to her please just tell Bea-ko to call me" Subaru said
"I will, Subaru. Please be back to visit" Emilia said. Puck came out of his crystal and stretched
"Oh hello Puck" Subaru said. Puck finished stretching and looked at Subaru and Rem
"Good afternoon Subaru and Rem, how are you guys doing?" Puck said
"Me and Rem are about to depart back to Japan in a couple of days. Emilia is staying with Julius for a bit," Subaru said. Puck nodded
"Oh really. Lia, have you finally found someone" Puck asked. Emilia blushed and crossed her arms
"No! Not yet Puck! Stop it! Please!" Emilia pleaded. Puck laughed
" Anyways goodbye Subaru, and Rem. Hope to see you guys visit soon" Puck said
"Puck are you a hundred percent sure that those papers you gave me have no mistakes on them" Subaru said in a serious tone
Puck nodded his head "I am two hundred percent confident that those papers will get you what you need" Puck said
Subaru nodded "Alright then if you say so. Anyway goodbye Puck and Emilia we will see you again in a couple of months hopefully" Subaru said. Puck and Emilia nodded. The waved as Subaru and Rem made there way out of the capital and back to the mansion
The next couple days passed with Subaru and Rem still taking care of the mansion. Eventually the time came where Beatrice was ready to open the portal again. Subaru kind of wanted to stay longer, but knew he made a promise to return to his parents. Subaru was awoken early in the morning by Rem
"Subaru wake up please" Rem said tugging the covers away from him
Subaru groaned and rolled over "Five more minutes Rem" Subaru said
"Subaru please get up" Rem asked again. Rem walked over to the curtains and opened them. Bright sunlight shined on Subarus face. Subaru opened his eyes and put his arm over his eyes to shield him from the bright morning light
Rem walked over and grabbed him by the arm and tugged him out of bed. Subaru fell out of bed. Rem laughed when Subaru hit the floor. He stood back up and rubbed his eyes
"Subaru we need to go back to your parents. They are waiting for us to return" Rem said
"Oh right" Subaru said. Rem and Subaru gathered everything they needed to bring them back with them to Japan. This only included the phone,Rems transcripts, and Rems government documents
Subaru and Rem entered into the hallway, and got one last look at Lugnica before they head off back to Japan
Subaru and Rem entered into the forbidden library. They say Beatrice sitting down on her chair with the flip phone in her watched in amusement as he saw Beatrice playing a game on the phone. Subaru saw a genuine smile on her face. As her eyes were glued to the phone in front of her
"Hello Bea-ko!" Subaru said. Beatrice smile faded and she closed the phone immediately, returning to her blank look
"Are you ready I suppose?" Beatrice asked as she stood up. Rem and Subaru nodded their heads. Beatrice began to perform the spell that opened the portal to Japan
An orb of light appeared and just like last time it formed an oval shape, and Subarus apartment was now visible on the other side
"Thank you Lady Beatrice" Rem said bowing her head
"Yeah thank Bea-ko" Subaru said. Beatrice did not change from her concentrated expression. Subaru took Rem's hand and crossed the portal into Subarus apartment. Naoko was on the couch in the living room. A smile came to her face when she saw Subaru and Rem
"Hi Mom. Where's Dad?" Subaru asked. Subaru noticed his father run across the corner from the kitchen with a pot of cold water in his hands and chucked it into the portal completely drenching Beatrice
The last thing they heard were Beatrice's screams as the portal closed. Kenichi laughed hysterically
"That's what that little girl gets for throwing me around" Kenichi said as he returned the pot to the kitchen
"Dad are you aware she's going to kill you the next time you guys meet" Subaru said. Kenichi laughed
"I will be ready for our next meet up. Believe me" Kenichi said. Naoko walked up and hugged Subaru
"Welcome back Subaru and Rem. I am glad to see you guys made it back on time" Naoko said
"Yup we are back. I also brought something important with me" Subaru said. Noako broke away curious to what Subaru brought
Subaru held up the papers in his hand for his parents to see "These are Rems transcripts, birth certificate, and all that other important stuff" Subaru said
Subarus parents froze. How on earth did Subaru get these types of documents
"Subaru, where did you get those?" Naoko asked
"I had a spirit spawn them in" Subaru said casually
"A spirit, yah right. I know fraud when I see it" Kenichi said in disbelief
"Subaru can I please look at those?" Naoko said, extending her hand. Subaru gave her the papers and she started to read them
"I got these because. Rem is going to be enrolling along with me to my last year of school" Subaru said
Kenich and Naoko couldn't believe Subaru was actually willing to finish his schooling. However they were also skeptical about the idea of Rem going with him
"Subaru I am so proud that you found the strength to finish your last year, but are you sure bringing Rem is a good idea?" Naoko said. Kenichi nodded
"Yeah Subaru your mothers got a point. Rem still has a lot of things she needs to get adjusted to. Are you sure bring her with you through your senior year is the right course of action" Kenichi asked
Subaru smiled and nodded. He knew Rem wanted to come along with him more than anything. Though he himself also had his concerns
"Mr and Mrs Natsuki. Rem is willing to put in as much effort as possible" Rem said. Kenichi and Naoko nodded, they knew Rem was a hard worker who always went the extra mile
"Well if you wish to then I don't see why not" Kenichi said. Naoko nodded her head. Both of Subarus' parents still had their concerns. They wanted Rem to perform well in school, but even if she passes with the bare minimum it would still be impressive considering she went straight into senior year. But they were still skeptical whether her forged government documents will actually let her into school
Naoko began to read Rems forged birth certificate "Rem Rosswal…. Rem I didn't know that your last name was Rosswal. What a nice last name" Naoko said
"Mom, her last name isn't Rosswal. That was just something Puck came up with when he made these documents"
"Whos.. Puck?" Naoko asked
"Don't worry about it. I don't think I can explain it" Subaru said. Naoko nodded and continued to read through the documents. She eventually landed onto Rems school transcripts
"Straight A's in culinary arts… Interesting" Naoko said
The gears in Subaru's mind started turning. He realized he could take a foods class alongside Rem and get high marks easily
"Anyway these seem fine to me. I just hope that there isn't any mistakes in them" Naoko said as she placed the papers on the table
"Subaru I think we need to send you to a drug rehabilitation program. The magic is one thing, but spirits that are able to commit fraud in a world they haven't even visited" Kenichi said
Subaru sighed "You are just going to have to see it to believe it" Subaru said
