Chapter 127: New Jobs
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I'm glad you all liked my latest story. Now this one I had been juggling for quite some time trying to figure out what to do with certain characters and I think you'll like my new idea. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves back at the boys dorms in EAH, or to be more specific Roxas and Chase's room as Roxas found himself with Lea, Sora, Riku, Daring, Dexter and Chase.
"Roxas, how can we put this nicely?" Dexter asks.
"Are you out of your mind?!" Lea yells.
"How was that nice?" Sora asks looking at Lea.
"Roxas you actually want to go to a party thrown by a woman who hates you?" Riku asks.
"Yes I do." Roxas said.
"Okay let's rephrase, why do you want to got a party thrown by a woman who hates you?" Chase asks.
"Guys, I need to help Apple and her mom make up. When we were at Desert Empire I saw firsthand how badly families can fall apart if they don't fix their problems." Roxas said.
"Roxas I don't think Apple is gonna try and poison her mother." Riku said.
"No but she hates her because Snow White can't stand me. Whether I like it or not I am going to go there and try and convince those two to make peace." Roxas said.
"Still that's Snow White's Ball. It's the fanciest party of the year, you walk into that the way you are now they won't even let you near her." Daring said.
"What do you mean the way I am?" Roxas asks.
"Roxas, these people are basically the fanciest in all of Ever After. They grew up on the whole Royal system that led them to Happily Ever Afters." Dexter explains.
"And then you came a long and made a new route for everyone." Sora said.
"So if you really want to go to the ball you're gonna need to get everyone in that party to not hate you." Riku said.
"I gotta try." Roxas said.
"Roxas, this is not gonna be easy. That ball is the fanciest party of the year." Dexter said.
"Yeah you're gonna need to know everything there is to know about being a royal to pull this off." Daring said.
"I can think of only one man who can help me." Roxas declared.
In Headmaster Grimm's office, he had a surprised look on his face as Roxas stood across from him.
"You want me to teach you how to be a royal?" Milton said surprised.
"I need your help Headmaster Grimm. You know this Royal stuff by heart. You've watched over every story for years." Roxas said.
"Maybe so, but that ball is in a few weeks and almost everyone on the Guest List comes from the best Royals in Ever After. You have any how much you would need to know to impress these people?" Milton asks.
"Probably not enough if I just went to class." Roxas assumes.
"You would need to learn at least a whole semesters worth of classes to be ready for this." Milton said.
"That's why I need your help. Teach me how to be a Prince." Roxas said.
"I don't Roxas, you tend to focus more on the Rebel part of being a Roybel." Milton said.
"Please, I'm desperate." Roxas said.
"I'm not sure Roxas." Milton said.
As he turns around, Roxas sighs trying to think of something.
"Psst. Roxas." Brooke whispers getting his attention.
"Brooke no! No talking!" The female narrator said.
"If you wanna get Headmaster Grimm to help you out you gotta find a way to make him interested." Brooke said.
"That's enough young lady." The male narrator said.
'Make him interested huh?' Roxas thought as he turned around in the direction of the door.
"It's a shame. Imagine how this could benefit you and the school." Roxas said getting his attention.
"Excuse me?" Milton turns his chair around interested.
"Well you said it yourself these Royals are some of the classiest people in the world. Think of it like this. If you Headmaster Grimm could turn me, one of the most rebel students in the school into a Prince Charming. Everyone would be amazed by you. They might even be willing to make huge donations to the school. Or even send their kids here." Roxas said.
"I-I could?" Milton said as his eyes widen in realization.
"But I guess you're right. It's impossible to teach me how to be a royal. I'll leave." Roxas said walking to the door when Milton runs over and grabs his shoulder.
"You know maybe I was too quick to judge. Why don't you come back tomorrow and I'll see if I can think of a plan." Milton suggests.
"Seriously? Thank you." Roxas smiles.
"No run along. I have some lessons to think up." Milton said as Roxas walked out.
Walking to his PA, he presses it.
"Ms. Trollsworth, send my brother to my office and cancel my appointments for the rest of the day." Milton said.
From the crack in the door, Roxas saw this and smiles.
"Brooke, I owe you big time for this." Roxas smiles looking up.
"Aw thank you." Brooke smiles loving the attention.
Making his way down the hall, his mirrorphone began to ring.
"Hello?" Roxas answers.
"Hey Roxas. It's me." Crystal said on the other line.
"Hey Crystal, what's up?" Roxas asks.
"Well that's the thing. I need you to come up with me to my family castle. Northwind and Jackie finally finished their punishment." Crystal said surprising him.
"Seriously? They actually finished it?" Roxas said.
"I know. Listen my dad needs to figure out what to do with them and since you and I were involved with it, I figured you could help me." Crystal said.
"Sure, let me grab a coat and I'll meet you up front." Roxas said hanging up.
A half hour later, Roxas was wearing his winter wear as he was riding up with Crystal and Gomamon in her family carriage.
"I never get used to this." Roxas shivers causing Crystal to giggle.
"Come on you wimp, chill out." Gomamon laughs.
"Uh I think Roxas is trying to avoid anything cold." Crystal said before noticing the nervous look on his face. "Hey you okay?"
"Well if I'm being honest I'm a little nervous about seeing your folks. Last time I met your dad face to face he tried to turn me into an ice sculpture." Roxas said.
"Yeah but that was when he was cursed. He's different now." Crystal reminds.
"But now, I'm dating his daughter. How's he gonna react to that?" Roxas reminds.
Crystal opens her mouth to try and answer but pauses.
"Okay, maybe that's a good reason to worry." Gomamon said.
"So you actually you want to tell my parents we're a thing?" Crystal asks.
"Well we kinda are, aren't we?" Roxas asks.
"Yeah, I guess we are." Crystal smiles.
Reaching the top of the world, both looked in surprise to see the entire many mile driveway was completely shoveled.
"Wow, they actually did it." Roxas said shocked.
"They shoveled it all." Crystal said when a cold gust blew in causing Roxas to shiver and rub his hands.
Seeing this Crystal slowly scootches closer and holds his hands warming them up.
"Better?" Crystal asks.
"Much." Roxas nods.
Entering the castle, they enter to see the Snow King was hard at work.
"Alright people, Winter isn't over yet. We gotta make sure we have enough snow to make it all the way to the end." He said checking in on everyone in the factory.
"Wow, so this is how you guys make winter?" Roxas asks.
"Yep, we've been doing this forever after." Crystal said.
"Guess being cool runs in the family huh?" Gomamon jokes.
Looking over at the inventory, Crystal saw some other winter subjects were doing Jackie and Northwind's old job.
Suddenly a whistle blew snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Alright everyone that should be enough for today. Get some rest and we'll finish up tomorrow." The Snow Queen said.
"Mom! Dad!" Crystal calls out.
Looking up both of them saw Crystal waving at them.
"Crystal!" Both of them smiled as Crystal ran down to hug them.
"It's so good to see you my little snowflake." Snow King smiles.
"We've missed you." Snow Queen smiles.
"I've missed you too." Crystal said.
"Lot of stuff has happened since she last stopped by your majesties." Roxas said as he and Gomamon walked down.
"Roxas, long time no see." Snow King smiles. "Hey what do you say after this you and I have ourselves a little rematch?"
"Wait wha?" Roxas said not expecting that.
"You actually want to fight him?" Gomamon asks equally surprised.
"Oh yeah, I haven't had a good tussle in a while. And seeing you kids on your missions really makes a King eager." Snow King smiles.
"You guys watch Blondie's Blog?" Crystal asks.
"Yes we do, and I must say I was very surprised you could do magic without your wand." Snow Queen said.
"Yeah I kinda learned that in Fiore." Crystal said rubbing the back of her head.
"Mind if we see?" Snow King asks.
Nodding Crystal put her hands together. "Ice Make Keyblade." Appearing in her hand an ice version of Oathkeeper appeared.
"Amazing." Snow Queen said as the Snow King held it in his arms.
"Very well detailed. And seems strong." He examined.
"One of the benefits of 9 Keyblade wielders on your team. You really can make sure you get it all down to the last detail." Crystal said.
"Yeah Crystal's pretty awesome." Gomamon smiles.
"Yes she is." Her parents agreed.
"We're really glad you two could make it. We feel that your input can help us figure out a solution to this." Snow King said.
"Uh dad, before we go deal with Jackie and Northwind there's something you both should know." Crystal said getting their attention.
"What's wrong snowflake?" Snow Queen asks.
"Well you see, a while ago something happened." Cyrstal said.
"What?" The Snow King asks when Roxas reaches out and takes Crystal's hand surprising them.
"Oh my fairy godmother." The Snow Queen gasps.
"So wait Crystal you and Roxas…are a couple?" Snow King asks.
"Yes dad. It happened right at New Years." Crystal nods.
There was a brief silence as the Snow King slowly walked up to them.
As they looked up at him a big smile appeared on his face as he bursts into laughter and pulls them both into a big hug.
"My little snowflake finally has a boyfriend!" Snow King laughs spinning them around and putting them down.
"Well he took this well." Roxas said as they both gasped for air.
"Told ya, he's a big softie." Crystal pants.
"So I guess you're all right with us dating?" Roxas asks.
"I have no complaints. You found yourself quite the boyfriend, Crystal." Snow Queen said.
"Thanks mom." Crystal said.
"Any boy with the guts to take me on is more than tough enough to watch over my daughter." Snow King said.
"Dad, I don't just like Roxas because he's tough." Crystal said.
"And I really like Crystal too, sir." Roxas said.
"I like you Roxas. Oh I can't wait to start planning your wedding." Snow King smiles.
"Wedding?!" Roxas and Crystal said bright red.
"Ooh and then maybe someday we'll have little grandchildren." Snow King said.
"DAD!" Crystal said beyond embarrassed.
Not being able to hear anymore Roxas ran right out of the room.
"Roxas wait!" Crystal yells before turning to her parents. "This is why I don't invite people over!"
As Crystal ran after him, Gomamon turns to Crystal's parents.
"Way to keep your cool your majesties." Gomamon said sarcastically.
Outside, Roxas was leaning against the balcony alone after dealing with the embarrassment of the Snow King.
"There you are." Roxas turns to see Crystal walking over.
"Sorry about walking out." Roxas apologizes.
"No I'm sorry my dad is sweet but he can be so embarrassing." Crystal said.
"I think it was easier to deal with him when he was trying to turn me into an ice sculpture." Roxas said causing her to giggle and lean against the balcony next to him.
"If it makes you feel better he and my mom really liked you." Crystal said.
"It's going to take some getting used to." Roxas said as Crystal leans against him.
"Well at least you have me to help you through it." Crystal smiles.
"You're the best." Roxas smiles.
As the two leaned in and kissed the Snow King and Queen peeked in on them.
"Ooh I hear wedding bells." The Snow King smiles.
"Darling you're rushing it…they still have to have their romantic dates." The Snow Queen giggles.
"It's only a matter of time before they're snuggling by the fire together." He chuckles when two snowballs hit them both.
"Do you mind?!" Roxas and Crystal snap with blushes on their faces revealing they heard everything.
"Those two are such romantics." Brooke said.
"Oh poor Roxas and Crystal." The female narrator giggles.
"They'll be struggling with this for a long time." The male narrator chuckles.
After everything eventually cooled down between Roxas, Crystal and her parents they went to deal with the other matter.
In the throne room, Roxas, Crystal and Gomamon stood at the base of the throne as the Snow King and Snow Queen sat on them.
"Bring them in." Snow King orders as the door opens revealing Northwind and Jackie Frost.
"Been a long time Princess." Jackie said as they walked in.
"Jackie." Crystal narrows her eyes.
"Hey Crystal, long time no see." Northwind smiles.
"I see you brought your bodyguard with you." Jackie said.
"My boyfriend." Crystal said.
"Really? Him?" Jackie said looking at Roxas with a raised eyebrow.
"Jackie Frost and Northwind, you two have completed your punishment for trying to not only take over my kingdom but for also turning me against my own family. What do you say for yourselves?" Snow King asks.
"Not guilty!" Northwind said.
"Uh Northwind, you already were guilty. That's why you guys were forced to do all that shoveling." Roxas said.
"Oh right." Northwind said as Jackie facepalmed.
"Now that your punishment is over, we need to figure out what to do with you." Snow Queen said.
"What's to ask? You're probably just gonna send us back to counting snowflakes. The worst job ever after." Jackie said.
"That's why we've brought Crystal and Roxas. Since they were the ones who dealt with you, they will help decide your fate." Snow King said as they stepped forward.
"While I understand why you did it, you have to understand it will take a lot of work to be forgiven." Crystal said.
"On my team the Forever After Fighters we've dealt with a few who were like that: Faybelle, Courtly, Duchess, La. They all bettered themselves from joining the team." Roxas said.
"So what you want us to go on missions with you guys to save people?" Jackie asks.
"Oh cool, like superheroes." Northwind said.
"No, not cool." Jackie said.
"Yeah something tells me these guys are not fans of that idea." Gomamon said.
"What do you think Roxas? What should we do about this?" Crystal asks.
Looking at Jackie and Northwind he could see the scared looks on their faces.
Part of him wanted to send them back to counting snowflakes, but it was that job that drove them crazy enough to working with the Organization. He didn't want that to happen again but them joining the Forever After Fighters was a little much.
They needed something else, but they also need to learn a lesson. Something new.
"You know what, I think I know the perfect job for these two." Roxas said getting their attention.
In Twilight Town, Roxas lands the Tempest near the mansion as he, Crystal, Snow King, Jackie and Northwind walked in to meet with Ienzo, Hayner, Pence and Olette.
"Jackie, Northwind this is Ienzo. He's the leader of our support team at this mansion along with the rest of his team." Roxas introduced.
"Sup." Northwind said.
"So let me guess, we'll be working for this guy as his assistants or something?" Jackie assumes.
"No, you see Ienzo already has assistants. You guys will be working for these guys." Roxas turns Jackie so she was facing Hayner, Pence and Olette.
"What?!" Jackie said outraged.
"Best idea ever." Crystal whispers as she and her father held back their laughter.
"As of today, you two will be bodyguards and assistants to Hayner, Pence and Olette. Anything they need help with you two will do and if anything dangerous happens to them you two will do everything you can to protect them." Roxas said.
"Sweet. New bosses." Northwind said.
"No, not sweet. He's making us assistants to the assistants!" Jackie said.
"Uh we're right here." Pence said.
"No way, this is bogus." Jackie whines.
"Look Jackie, we're all you get. So you either stick with us or go back to whatever you were doing before." Hayner said causing both ice siblings to freeze up.
"What exactly were they doing before?" Olette asks.
"Snowflake Inventory." Snow King said.
"Yeah you guys really might want to reconsider your options." Pence cringed.
"So what's it gonna be? You wanna work for them or continue working with the Snow King?" Roxas asks.
Seeing they literally had no other choice, Jackie sighs. "I choose them." Jackie said.
"Where Jackie goes I go." Northwind said as Ice King let them out of the shackles and allowed them to walk towards their new team.
"If they give you guys any trouble don't hesitate to call us." Crystal said.
"Noted." Ienzo nods.
"So what do you guys say we find you some rooms?" Olette suggests getting their attention.
"Rooms?" Jackie asks.
"Yeah if you're gonna be working for us you need a place to sleep. Come on." Ienzo said leading them up the stairs.
While Northwind happily followed after them Jackie narrowed her eyes still on the fence about her new job.
The next day, Roxas was with Milton for his first lesson.
"Alright the most important part of being a royal is this." Milton said making a big smile.
"Holding in my need to go to the bathroom?" Roxas asks unsure what he meant.
"No, smiling." Milton said. "A Royal must be able to smile through the ball at all times. So you have to be able to smile no matter what until the ball ends. Your feet may hurt, you may get tired or even if someone steps on your foot. No matter what you must maintain a calm attitude and joy."
"Okay sounds reasonable." Roxas said.
"We'll see. Let's start with the dancing." Milton said as Farrah walked in with a speaker. "You thank Miss. Goodfairy for agreeing to help."
"Farrah?" Roxas said surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"Sending people to the ball is my specialty." Farrah smiles.
"Alright, now Roxas for this exercise you must maintain control until the song ends." Milton said as he positioned the two of them in a classic ballroom dance position.
"Good thing you and I have practice together." Roxas smiles.
"Yeah, so lucky." Farrah blushes.
"Now for the hard part. Sparrow get in here!" Milton calls out as Sparrow entered the room.
"Huh?" Roxas said confused when Milton turns on the music signaling them to start dancing.
"Hey Roxas, nice moves. Do you mean to dance like an elephant with two left feet?" Sparrow mocks.
"Maintain composure. You are unfazed." Milton said.
Turning back to Farrah, they continued the dance.
"Hope you don't mind. I borrowed your skateboard and your phone." Sparrow said holding them up causing Roxas to twitch.
"Keep it together." Farrah said trying to help him focus.
"Maintain composure." Milton repeats.
"Well I'll just leave you two this. I gotta finish reading your journal anyway." Sparrow said holding it up causing his eyes to widen. "Ooh I wonder what kind of secrets you have written in here." Sparrow was about to open it when Roxas breaks out of the dance and punches him knocking Sparrow to the ground.
Ending the music, Farrah looks to Milton.
"Well he actually lasted longer than most people do." Farrah cringed trying to make it better than it was. "And let's face it, maybe the journal was not a good idea."
"Yeah I realize that now." Sparrow groans in pain.
"We've got a long way to go." Milton groans.
