Ryu was with Kotaro at the book end, he was lying down at a bench with Kotaro sleeping in his chest.

He was relaxing too before he saw Raven come up to them.

"Well you two look confortable."She said.

"Well its just how we always do it, Kotaro likes to sleep like this."Ryu said.

"But wouldn't having him like this be too much that he might get too attached."Raven said.

He chuckles."The others said the same thing but he's my little lucky charm, when I'm always in trouble he's always there, in fact I almost lost a duel."She got surprised to hear that."A duel that might have changed me since there was one evil forces there but Kotaro was there to help me."He then remembers the duel.

Flashback

Ryu was at duel academy wearing a slifer red uniform and he was facing off against pro duelist Aster Pheonix, on his field are Diamond Dude, Dreadmaster, Doomlord and Captain Tenacious.

On Ryu's field is two facedowns and Nisashi in defense mode.

Ryu 1000 LP

"Don't feel bad, your skills are not half bad but I have something you don't have, a purpose to duel."Aster said.

Ryu grunts at his words.

"Now attack."Diamond Dude destroys Nisashi.

Captain Tenacious attacked him. Ryu 200 LP

"Ryu!"His friends called out to him from the seats.

He then saw Doomlord and Dreadmaster coming towards him.

"Go defense draw."Ryu blocks Doomlord.

"Oh well I still have Dreadmaster so it's over."Aster said as his monster went foward.

Ryu got worried before he heard a voice."Big bro!"He looks at the seats to see Kotaro crying.

"Kotaro."He saw him getting sad and he closes his eyes drawing his next card.

Then a rainbow light stops Dreadmaster.

"What?!"Aster got shocked along with everyone.

"Rainbow Kuriboh."Ryu smirks showing the card.

Kuriboh appears on Dreadmaster's chest restraining him.

"You mean to tell my monster got stopped by that little thing!"Aster said.

"That's right, also your wrong, I do have a purpose."Ryu said.

"And what's that?"Aster said.

"My little brother."Ryu said surprising him."Your not the only that lost someone close to you but I'm stronger since I have something to protect."

"Whatever I end my turn."Aster said.

Ryu has no cards in his hand and he draws.

He then smirks making Aster confused."Go card of demise, now I get to draw five cards."Ryu draws his new hand."Go my facedown Trap Booster."The card reveals it self."I send one card to play Backs to the wall."The card appears. Ryu 100 LP.

"Now with it I can summon as many Six Samurais as I can."Zanji, Irou, Doji, Yaichi and Nisashi.

"Bring as many of those guys as you need they're too weak and I won't get any damage."Aster said.

"I activate Polymerization."Ryu plays it.

"Say what?!"Aster got surprised.

"Samurais of darkness, become one to form a mighty dragon of terror! Fusion Summon! Appear, poisonous dragon with hungering fangs! Level 8! Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!"Then from the vortex came Starving Venom Fusion Dragon and he roars. 2800 atk.

"Now his effect allows him to gain attack of all of your special summoned monsters."Ryu said.

"What, but that's all of them."Aster said.

Starving Venom powers up. 2800 - 8400 Atk.

Aster stepped back and said:"Even so, fate has me winning this duel so you can't defeat me because of Dreadmaster."

"I play Level Award, now I pick a monster you control and change its level, Doomlord become a level 5."Doomlord changed. Level 5.

"But why?"Aster said.

"Staring Venom effect, he can target a monster on your field that is level 5 or higher, it's effects are negated and it copies it effect."Ryu said."So copy Doomlord."

"But that means."Aster got scared.

At a lair

Sartorius was looking at the cards before it changed one of them shocking him."That's impossible!"

Back at the duel.

"Starving Venom send Dreadmaster to the future."Ryu said and his dragon stabbed him with his tail before his vanished.

"No wait."Aster said.

"Starving Venom, attack."Starving Venom charges up before blasting all of Aster's monsters and they screamed before they exploded.

Aster was sent flying away.

Aster 0 LP

Ryu takes a deep breath and smiles.

"I lost."Aster was in shock."But I was destined to win."

"Big bro!"Kotaro goes towards Ryu and Ryu kneels down hugging Kotaro who cries.

"Way To play Ryu."Syrus said as the others went to his side.

Ryu got up with Kotaro on his arms, he couldn't even think of the possibility of Kotaro not being there since he might have lost a lot more.

Flashback ends

"And that's the story."Ryu said.

"Wow, he really is your lucky charm."Raven said.

Kotaro wakes up and runs his eyes."Ryu."

"Okay okay."He picks him up and they walk away with Raven following him.

Note:Yeah that was a version of Jaden's duel against Aster when they fought the first time, he didn't lose since he broke destiny with Kotaro's cry, the card he used to alter the level is a manga card.
