Mace Windu put his pad aside at the ring of his comm, half smiling when his former Padawan appears in front of him "Depa" he nods "This is unexpected."

"I know Master" she nods without a smile, actually looking worried, "Master I know you don't make a habit of reading the newspapers but have you by chance seen today's Republic Chronicle?"

"No" he answers with frown, knowing whatever it is can't be good if Depa is calling him all the way from the Outer Rim while she's in the middle of a deployment to tell him.

She sighs, "I didn't think so. I know it's still early on Coruscant, the pubic won't be up yet but you should get ready, I think a protest might be likely."

It's 0538 now, the majority of people probably won't be up for another hour, should be enough time to call in some clone security "Understood. Now what is it what you think will have the people of Coruscant banging on the temple door?"

"Uh that would be what I found" Caleb Dume steps into the holo view looking disturbed.

He raises an eyebrows at the boy, getting sick of them not saying it "And that would be Grandpadawan?"

Caleb's frown grows "I like to keep a eye on the news back on Coruscant, they posted the story while I was training with Master Billaba and well..." he looks away, "The paper found a bunch of stuff about the Chancellor and all this stuff he did to make sure he got to spend time alone with Master Skywalker when he was a Padawan. It all sounded pretty creepy Master."

Dread pools in Mace's stomach, "They can't really believe the Chancellor would of done something...improper with Skywalker?"

Depa lets out a breath, "I wish they weren't, but what they found is pretty convincing."

Mace picks up his pad, "I'll read it, thank you for bringing this to my attention Depa, Caleb."

"Of course Master" Depa nods, "May the Force be with you." she ends the call.

Mace quickly brings up the story, feeling worse the more he reads. Palpatine clearly messed with Kenobi's mission schedule (he knew Obi-Wan went on a lot of missions back then but these numbers...) the photos are disconcerting to say the least, the old man has his hand on the boy in every one, sometimes just on his shoulder, but in others their arms are linked, or the one where he has his arm wrapped around the then 10-year-old waist and is smiling at him...

It also is not kind to the Jedi, rudely pointing out that Skywalker never got therapy after spending his first 9 years as a slave (why would he need therapy when he has the Force?) or took one of the programs to help former slaves adapt to life with freedom (Mace didn't know they had programs like that on Coruscant, maybe they should of looked into it 12 years ago) that his Master was formerly punished twice for worrying about the unsupervised time the old man ordered he have with the 9 year old (Kenobi was clearly attached it is protocol to punish him, and they couldn't refuse an order from the Chancellor, especially not a harmless one like meeting the boy who helped save his home world, or at least they thought it was harmless) questioning why the boy didn't have things like stranger danger and other concepts he wouldn't of learned as a slave explained to him when he arrived (Mace...doesn't have answer for that one) Why Skywalker was freed but his Mother was left behind, and still enslaved...

Mace calls an emergency Council meeting, clearly the Chancellor needed to be investigated...and perhaps some of their own protocols may need to be looked into as well.

Obi-Wan pushes down his urge to throw his teacup into a wall and tries (and mostly fails) to release his anger into the Force.

He is onboard the Negotiator, only a few hours away from Coruscant and the 212th scheduled two week leave, Obi-Wan had planned to take a moment to himself with a nice cup of tea and read a newspaper, he didn't expect to read...

"General?" Cody frowns frown his seat on the Jedi's left where he was drinking his own tea and working on a report, "Is something wrong Sir?"

Obi-Wan closes his eyes. Yes clearly something is if he didn't see this right in front of him, oh Ani...

"May I sir" Cody asks softly, a hand gently resting on his and the pad he holds.

Obi-Wan just nods his head, thoughts racing.

Cody takes the pad from him.

Obi-Wan always wondered why he got so many missions, especially with such a young Padawan but he never risked questioning it, knowing if he had the Council would have decided his urge to spend more time with Ani over his duties was attachment and given him his third strike and taken Ani away from him. But how did he not know about the amount of time Anakin spent with Palpatine?

He knew of course that they saw each other after his first two unsupervised visits with the man, Anakin liked him and Obi-Wan couldn't talk him out of seeing him, so he made an agreement with Palpatine to bring Anakin for a supervised visit once a month, and he did so for the next 7 years, but he never knew they saw each other apart from that (he isn't one for gossip rags, which according to the article had photos of the two of them together regularly and still does) why didn't Ani say anything?

He needs to talk to Anakin as soon as possible, find out if that man harmed him in anyway.

"Sir" Cody's surprised/shocked/pissed off voice pulls him from his thoughts.

"The 501st are already on Coruscant aren't they?" Obi-Wan questions opening his eyes and looks to the clone who is pouring fury into the Force.

"Yes sir" Cody nods glaring at the pad in his hands.

"Contact Rex" he advises trying to make his mind calm and orderly, "I imagine the media are about to become an annoyance. He should be for warned."

"Yes sir" Cody nods.

"General Kenobi" a clone communication office walks up to were they are sitting in the mess hall.

"Hello Wire" the Jedi nods to him, "Is there a message for me?"

"Yes sir. General Windu has called an emergency Council meeting" he answers.

"Probably about this" Obi-Wan frowns, "It is likely to get some public outrage directed toward the Jedi. Thank you Wire" he dismisses the man before raising from his seat and heading for the door.
