Don't Think Twice
Author's Note: IT'S BEEN 84 YEARS… Okay, okay, I know it hasn't been THAT long, but it's been a loooong time since this was updated. Specifically, the last time this was updated was on August 19th of last year, and now we're in July 2021. Allow me to say this guys, I am truly, truly sorry for the wait. What can I blame for the long wait? Life, just life. I'll also put the blame on myself, but it's mainly been life. Job, college, other things, everything was happening at once. But, one thing did come from it. I graduated from college! I'm tired, but relieved. I do plan on going back to college to get another degree, though, which might take up most of my time. HOWEVER, FOR NOW, since it's summertime, you guys have my undivided attention, which means it's gonna be a good summer for all of my fanfics.
Before we finally get into the Book 1 finale, the most anticipated chapter yet, imma reply to some reviews. I'm only gonna reply to the most recent ones to speed things up a bit.
Kaidhicksii: Thank you, my dude! Yeah, I didn't combine the chapters, but it sure took a long time for part 2 to come out, didn't it? Lol. And yeah, Tarrlok and Amon's brotherhood, or lack thereof, was something I wanted to emphasize.
CosmiCracker: Thank you! And don't worry, the next chapter is finally here!

BlueBlur221: I wouldn't say I 'created' this crossover, haha. As much as I would like to say that, I think the credit would have to go to the Deviantart artist called Zavraan. She's the one who inspired me to make not only this fanfic, but the first version of it too, The Adventures of Legends. But I guess I can take credit for being the second person to make this into a written fanfic! Seriously, though, thank you for the kind words!
TacoMako64: Let me tell ya this, man, you have a lot of great ideas! It flows into the plot effortlessly, if I do say so myself. I can't speak too much on what's going to happen in this chapter, or what's gonna happen when I finally get to Book 2, soooo I'm just gonna say everything is classified info, lol. But yes, this story does have a lot of Spider-Man inspiration, especially with the way I'm handling Infinite.

Chapter 15: The Siege of Republic City Part 2
Team Avatar and Team Sonic were fighting for Republic City, explosion after explosion happening which only signified a part of the outrageous chaos. Airships, robots, chi-blockers, other signs of destruction, and many more things proved that Republic City was not the place to be right now.
"How much longer until we get to City Hall?!" Mako yelled, shooting fireblast after fireblast at the mechs.
"It would be a lot quicker if we didn't have to deal with these stupid mechs!" Bolin exclaimed, his shoulder still being in pain, but he was trying to fight through it by giving his best effort in attacking each and every one of the mechs. He gritted his teeth, signifying the struggle he was going through.
Korra, being as determined as ever, was showing a variety of attacks with her waterbending, earthbending, and firebending. "Keep on pushing, guys! We can do this!" she emitted, and what would follow her combos was Knuckles yelling, punching a couple of mechs into the sky like a baseball on a homerun.
"I'm really getting tired of all these mechs!" Knuckles shouted. He's been through this before on his world, but the army that was attacking Republic City now was absolutely ridiculous. This was beyond an army at this point.
"GUYS, GUYS!" Asami yelled, trying to get their attention. She pointed to the sky, specifically pointing at one of the airships which looked like it was charging up some type of energy blast. "TAKE COVER!"
But by that time, it may have been too late.
BGM: The Last Agni Kai – Samuel Kim
The blast was fired by the airship, making the entire group look up in utter horror. In a last-ditch effort, Bolin rushed forward and raised both of his arms in the air, making the street below them act as a shield. Upon impact, the energy blast obliterated Bolin's street shield, sending everyone flying back, along with the civilians who were trying to escape.
Team Avatar and Team Sonic skidded across the street, all of them struggling to get up. "Is… is everyone okay?" Tails managed to say, struggling to get back on his feet after a blast like that.
"For some reason, I wished that blast would've killed me." Tahno bluntly stated, groaning in pain. He would rather just die than to keep living in this hell.
As Mako was getting up, he held his head, trying to recover from the blast like everyone else was. But then as he was recovering, he remembered the reason why he was able to recover in the first place.
His eyes widened, running to his brother Bolin, his body seemingly motionless. "Bolin! Bolin!" Mako repeated at the top of his lungs, adrenaline now going through his body as he knelt down to his brother's position. Right behind Mako was Toza, wanting to make sure the man he sees as his son was alright.
Out of everyone, Bolin clearly took the worst of the blast by being the closest to it, since he was trying to protect everyone.
Mako kept calling Bolin's name, but he wasn't responding. Now Mako was starting to freak out. "BOLIN! WAKE UP, BOLIN!"
Still no response.
"BOLIN!" Toza yelled.
Nothing.
"SOMEBODY HEAL HIM!" Mako cried, and really, the only person that could heal him was Korra.
Once Korra realized what was happening, she ran towards Bolin's body, making her hands be covered in water and tried her best to heal him. Once the healing process started, it didn't take long for Bolin to wake up.
His eyes would flutter, as he muttered, "I see a bright light… Am I dead?" Bolin asked, to which Mako had the biggest sigh of relief and hugged his brother.
"No, bro. You're alive." confirmed Mako, and once Bolin fully realized he wasn't dead, he grunted in pain, causing Mako to give him some space.
"Bro… I don't know if I have anything left." Bolin told his brother honestly. Obviously, he was not only referring to his shoulder being in massive pain, but taking a blast from a high powered airship didn't help his condition whatsoever. He felt disgusted with himself, saying, "I let you down, man, I let you down…"
Mako would emphatically disagree, replying, "Are you kidding me? All of us would be dead if it wasn't for you jumping in at the last possible second! That alone is more than enough." he assured.
Toza would add to Mako's statement, saying, "If anyone is the real MVP, it's you."
As Mako, Toza, and Bolin were talking, Korra was continuing to heal Bolin to the best of her ability, but she knew the amount of time they all had was precious, which unfortunately meant she couldn't heal him completely in the little time they had, especially with his injuries.
She gritted her teeth, saying, "I can't heal him fast enough. We have to get him somewhere safe."
"Uh…" Tails began, looking around. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this entire city isn't safe right now, no matter where you go." he stated.
Blaze looked at this entire mess of a situation. If Bolin were to make it out of this alive, somebody needed to protect him.
And given his condition, more than one person needed to protect him.
"The only way we can get him somewhere that's safer than here is if someone protects him, because these mechs and airships aren't going to stop attacking." Blaze explained. "I'll stay with him."
Tails looked at Blaze, asking, "Are you sure?"
Blaze gave a confirming nod. "Positive."
"Count me in." Toza said, pointing to himself. "That's two benders protecting him now."
"I'll help too." Asami said. "The rest of you guys have to get to City Hall so you can contact General Iroh and Commander Bumi." she told them all. "We'll make sure Bolin is safe."
With three people deciding to protect Bolin, Korra, Mako, Tails, Knuckles, and Tahno all exchanged looks.
They knew this was the only way this could work.
"Okay…" Korra replied. "But all of you please be careful."
Asami smirked. "The reckless Avatar is telling us to be careful? Man, what has the world come to?" she joked, causing Korra to have a smirk of her own.
"Well, what are we waiting for? We gotta get to City Hall!" Knuckles declared, looking at the group he would be traveling with. They all exchanged nods, as they ran full speed ahead to City Hall.
After they left, in mere moments, chi blockers along with more mechs would surround Bolin, Toza, Blaze, and Asami.
BGM: Final Fantasy VII – Fighting/Battle Theme (You can listen to the original or the remake version)
Clenching her fists, a large amount of fire would come around Blaze, getting into her fighting stance as she was clearly ready for battle.
Toza would stomp the ground, having a strong battle stance of his own. With a mighty battle yell, he roared, "COME GET SOME!"
He slammed his fists into the pavement, creating a mini earthquake that showed only a preview of power this retired earthbender possessed. Afterwards, Blaze let out an explosive wave of fire, the attack colliding with the mechs which created a massive explosion in the process.
Air Temple Island
Tenzin and Lin rushed to Air Temple Island, both of them being frantic as they were looking for the kids and Pema.
"Pema! Ikki! Meelo! Jinora!" Tenzin shouted, but he was clearly getting worried when he got no response.
"Kids! Pema! We have to get out of here! The Equalists are coming!" Lin yelled, the two running all around Air Temple Island in search of them.
"Daddy?!"
That voice.
It sounded like Meelo's voice!
"Meelo?!" Tenzin replied, not yet seeing where he was. "Where are you?!"
In a few more seconds, Meelo, Ikki, Jinora, and Pema stopped hiding, running towards the sound of Tenzin's voice. Once they were all close enough, Tenzin hugged his entire family out of pure relief.
"Oh, thank goodness you all are alright." he told them all. "Where were you guys?"
"We were hiding from the equalists," Pema confirmed.
"Only because it was mom's idea," Ikki pointed out. If she had it her way, she would've been fighting this entire time.
"Well, I'm glad you listened to your mother, because quite frankly, we need to leave immediately." Lin pointed out, but then the happy reunion would stop immediately once a voice was heard.
"I'm afraid I won't allow that."
BGM: Kung Fu Panda – Shifu Faces Tai Lung
The family and Lin turned around to see Amon standing right before them, along with only a part of his equalist army, which was way more than enough.
"I hate to put it in these terms, but we can either do this the easy way or the hard way." Amon told them all, having his hands behind his back as he was speaking. "If you cooperate, I might not take away your bending."
The family was silent, now not knowing what to do.
They were surrounded on literally every corner. There was no way they could escape.
At least… that's what it seemed like.
Taking one look at the army, Lin was devising a plan, and to be blunt, it was a rather simple plan.
"Tenzin, get your family out of here." Lin told him, making Tenzin look at her wide-eyed. In his head, he had an idea on what she was planning.
"Please tell me you're not-"
Before Tenzin could even finish his sentence, Lin would cut him off.
"I'll hold them off while you all get off this island. You guys are the last airbenders, and I refuse to let any of you lose your bending, or heck… even worse." she stated, all of them figuring out what she meant by the 'even worse' part.
"We've been through a generation of the world not having airbenders. I'm not letting that happen again."
Saying her final words, not wanting any kind of backtalk whatsoever, Lin would stomp her feet into the ground, raising her arms in the air as she looked ahead. She noticed that there were a couple of airships the equalists used to get here.
So, the very thing that got them here… would be the same thing to take them out.
Commanding the airships to her own will with her metalbending, the airbending family's jaws dropped in utter amazement. "There's metalbenders, and then there's Lin." Jinora pointed out, not believing what she was seeing.
She was quite obviously straining herself, but this was no time to complain. "GO! NOW!" Lin shouted at Tenzin and the rest, swinging her arms to quite literally throw the airships at the equalists. They were not expecting this kind of power from Lin in the slightest, causing a lot of them to be in a panic as they tried to avoid their own airships.
Well, some of them would be able to dodge the attack.
Others… Wouldn't be so lucky.
Let's just say it's a scene where the kids should probably look away, as blood-curdling screams followed afterwards.
"LET'S MOVE, EVERYONE!" Tenzin told them, grabbing Pema and the kids as they were now escaping Air Temple Island. "Lin… I don't know how I could ever repay you…" he thought to himself.
"That lady is my hero!" Meelo shouted, and in a few more moments, the airbending family would be out of sight.
As for Lin, she would continue her onslaught by using her masterful earthbending abilities, firing large rocks at all of the equalists, hitting most of them dead on.
Soon, her eyes would be set on Amon, flipping into the air and tried to unleash a powerful axe kick on his head. Amon, being as graceful as he was, performed a backflip to avoid the attack. Once Lin's foot impacted the ground, multiple cracks were made around the island.
From those cracks, though, Lin would raise her leg in the air, creating a mini pillar of some sorts and fired it at Amon, striking him right in the chest which sent him flying.
Ladies and gentlemen, Lin was the daughter of Toph Beifong for a reason.
"I'm sick of this! I'm sick of everything! And I'm especially sick of you!" Lin shouted at Amon, being enraged. "You think you're bringing peace by being this savior for non-benders, but can't you see you're causing a war?!"
Amon got up, cracking his neck while listening to Lin speak. "My violence, my war as you call it, is the language of the unheard. Why do you think so many people have joined me in the first place? They were unheard, simply thrown to the wayside by people like you."
With a slight chuckle, Amon got into his battle stance, waving his arm at the entire scene, which was his own way of letting Lin know what was happening. "However, I'm sure you hear us now, correct?"
He was referring to the destruction of Republic City, the riots, the airships, the mechs, the amount of chi blockers in his army, and literally everything else.
Lin's response would be a growl, sending multiple large rocks in Amon's direction, to which he effortlessly avoided. Lin would keep on firing, but Amon would get closer, and closer, and closer…
It didn't take long to notice Amon was now dangerously close.
While Lin was focused on Amon, she forgot about the other equalists in the area. Using their bolas, they swung it at Lin's throat. Soon, the bolas wrapped around Lin's throat, instantly bringing her to her knees as she found it hard to breathe.
Once Amon was close enough, he got behind Lin, placing his fingers on her forehead.
It only took a few more moments for the deed to be done.
With Lin's eyes widening, the bolas unwrapped around her neck, as her body fell forwards to the ground. Upon impact, her eyes closed, her body now looking lifeless.
Her bending was taken away.
Republic City
"We're almost there, guys!" Korra told them, pointing to City Hall as they were running as fast as they could.
At this point, it wouldn't be too long until-
"Oh no!" Knuckles yelled, catching the attention of the entire group.
"What now?!" Tahno replied in an annoyed tone, seeing Knuckles pointing to the sky. As the group looked on, Korra, Mako, and Tahno may not have fully understood what was about to happen, but Tails and Knuckles did.
Tails' eyes widened, exclaiming, "IT'S INFINITE! FALL BACK!"
During this time, Infinite was flying right towards them, having a powerful, magma red aura surround him. His hands were filled with massive amounts of energy, signaling that he was gonna fire a powerful attack any moment now.
Tahno wouldn't listen to Tails' plead, instead electing to bend an enormous amount of water, firing it at Infinite. "TAAAAAKE THIIIIIISSSS!"
"FALL BACK!" Tails exclaimed once more.
But it was futile.
Infinite fired an electric beam attack, the electricity itself being white and black lightning. It shot straight through Tahno's waterbending attack, striking where Tahno was. It didn't hit him directly, but the beam, specifically the blast radius, did send him flying into another building, while it pushed the others back a good distance as well.
Smoke slightly covered the area, but thankfully, the group aside from Tahno stood their ground.
"MOVE!" Mako said, seeing Infinite charge up even more beam attacks, firing at all of them. The civilians, Team Avatar, and Team Sonic were all running for their lives. The last thing anybody wants to do is to get hit by something like that.
They needed somebody to fight Infinite so they could get to City Hall, but who in the world would do such a thing?
Oh, I know who.
BGM: Transformers Expanded Soundtrack – Optimus Arrival
In mere moments, a blue blur would speed onto the scene, drifting on the street with his own feet.
Sonic was finally here.
With Sonic getting a visual on who was causing this, he gritted his teeth.
"INFINITE!"
Infinite completely stopped what he was doing, having his eyes set on Sonic now.
"SONIC!"
Infinite blasted off at high speeds, coming straight for Sonic. Sonic would jump up and grab him, both of them now being in the air. The group looked on in disbelief, with Korra shouting, "Should we help him?!" By the way she said it, she was clearly worried, but Knuckles would nod.
"He can handle it! We just have to get to freaking City Hall!" Knuckles said, making Korra grit her teeth. She didn't want to leave Sonic alone to fight that psycho alone, but if Republic City had any chance of surviving, General Iroh and Commander Bumi needed to be contacted.
"Come on, he's buying some time!" Mako explained, the group now continuing their run towards City Hall, with explosions happening all over the place and everything.
As Sonic was holding on to Infinite, it would prove to be no easy task. Infinite was intentionally spinning around while he was flying to make Sonic dizzy or possibly lose his grip, but it would take a lot more than that to shake off the blue blur.
So, Infinite would take it up a notch.
He would crash into building after building, multiple pieces of glass being shattered along with those buildings just straight up going through absolute destruction. It was taking a toll on Sonic to go through this type of pain, but even after all of that, he was still holding on.
"ENOUGH!" Sonic told him, seeing the momentum Infinite gained while flying and would fully use it against him. Sonic, using his own body, charged into Infinite's stomach by using his signature spindash attack, sending both of them high into the air.
What would soon follow was an absolute mastery of combos being exchanged by both Infinite and Sonic, as shockwaves could repeatedly be seen showing up in the sky. If Sonic clocked Infinite in the jaw, Infinite would kick Sonic in the chest. If Infinite shot a blast right at Sonic's face, Sonic would come back and strike Infinite with his homing attack.
Feeling like the battle was shifting in his favor, while both of them were being in a freefall, Sonic got behind Infinite and punched his back repeatedly.
Too bad that would only make things worse.
Turning around to face Sonic, Infinite grabbed him and swung him around, effectively changing positions as they were falling. The reason for this? Well, this means that Sonic would take the worst of the impact as they were mere moments from free falling right into a building.
Infinite let out a loud, powerful yell as Sonic braced for impact. Even worse, Infinite's body let out an explosive wave of energy, which meant as soon as they collided with the building, it's like a major nuke dropped, completely annihilating all the nearby buildings and effectively turning them into rubble.
This was chaos, folks.
Just straight up insanity going on right now.
Cries of horror could be heard from civilians on every corner. If the buildings weren't destroyed, then they were most certainly on fire.
Sonic, who woke up to being in a burning building, got up slowly.
On the opposite side, Infinite would get up slowly as well.
"You're pathetically predictable, like a moth to the flame." Infinite told him in disgust, but then he would move on to more important matters. "What about my generous proposal?!" he reminded Sonic. The time he was reminding him of was when he attacked Republic City during Korra's parade. "Are you in or are you out?"
"Infinite… please. We don't have to do this." Sonic told him, making Infinite cross his arms.
"Of course we don't have to do this. You could either accept my offer or die. It's very simple." explained Infinite, making Sonic shake his head.
BGM: Naruto Shippuden OST - Loneliness
"No, that's not what I mean." Sonic told him truthfully, his tone taking on a more somber one. "You can still change. You can still turn everything around. You have so much potential to do a lot of good for the world."
This is when Infinite's eyes were filled with nothing but fire, becoming enraged. "Do a lot of good for the world?! The world has given me nothing but pain and agony!" he shouted, clenching his fists. "I lost EVERYTHING! My friends, my family… I owe the world nothing."
For the first time ever, it sounded like Infinite was… sad. Hurt. Sonic wasn't used to this at all, and really, he felt for the guy. Sonic lost his Uncle Chuck, but he at least had people he could call friends.
Infinite really had nobody to talk to.
"Please, Infinite. Let me help," Sonic said, relaxing. "I know you've gone through a lot, and judging by how much your power increased, I have a feeling you've gone through something else…" Sonic said, making Infinite blankly look at the blue blur.
"He used me as an experiment." Infinite explained, Sonic's eyes widening. Obviously, this was the second time, but this time it had more severe side effects. "But I've never felt better. The power… it feels good."
Infinite's aura began to glow, saying, "If this power makes me lose myself, then so be it. At least nobody will be able to tell me what to do ever again."
Sonic looked legitimately concerned for Infinite, coming closer to him. "That's not the right way to look at it." he told him, trying to think of a way outta this. Even if he's not able to convince Infinite right now, then maybe he could convince him in another way. "Okay, think about this. I know you probably don't care about what's going on outside of this building, but all these mechs you're seeing? This army? The fleet? All of this is related to Eggman."
Infinite remained silent, as Sonic continued to speak. "I know you have a vendetta against him after all that he's done to you. Wouldn't it be better if you took your anger out on his army instead of me?" Sonic pointed out.
And quite frankly, when Sonic said this, Infinite was clearly thinking about this.
"We can handle our squabble later, whenever you feel like it. I'll be ready. But now? If I were in your shoes, it would make a whole lot more sense to go after the guy who's played a major role in bringing me nothing but pain." Sonic finished, explaining the whole thing to Infinite.
And heck, as much as Infinite would like to disagree with Sonic… Dang it, he was making a valid point.
A small smirk crept onto Infinite's features, a silent laugh coming after that. "You know, the funny thing is I see and know what you're doing." he said, clearly not liking it. "I don't like it, but… you do make sense. Nothing would make me happier than to watch Eggman's army burn to the ground."
Sonic smirked, seeing that his plan was working. "So, does this mean that you're gonna burn it to the ground?"
Infinite turned around, his back now facing Sonic. "I'm gonna burn it into the ground, and then I'm gonna burn you into the ground."
Sonic's smirk got wider. "I'll be waiting!"
And with that, Infinite blasted off, leaving Sonic to look on. He still fully intends to help Infinite, but now, he was just concerned on getting help, even if that help stems from the wrong reasons.
City Hall
BGM: Transformers 2007 – Scorponok
Korra, Mako, Tails, and Knuckles finally made it to City Hall, all of them rushing to the radio station. Mako was the first one to get the closest to it, contacting General Iroh and Commander Bumi. "Hello! This is Mako, a civilian of Republic City! We're under attack by some army that we have no idea how to beat! This is an emergency, a code red, whatever the heck you wanna call it! I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS IN MY LIFE!" Mako started shouting, and during his message, you could hear multiple explosions happening in the background. He was usually calm and collected, but with everything that's happened so far, he was pretty much in panic mode.
"WE NEED EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY!"
Another explosion would happen, this time striking City Hall itself, having the impact of a bomb which caught everyone off guard.
These guys were seeing some crap today.
"I've already contacted them, don't you worry!"
This was a voice they weren't used to hearing.
The group turned around, seeing the resident hobo of Republic City, Gommu. Gray hair, brown attire, while also having a gap, he was fortunately a former telegraph operator for the United Forces.
Korra originally met him when she first came to Republic City, and it took a moment to realize who he was. "Wait, you already contacted them?"
"Yep!" Gommu confirmed. "In fact, they should be here riiiiight abooouuuut… Now!"
Cannons could be heard being shot from ships, making the group run out of City Hall and seeing that the United Forces have indeed arrived.
On the United Forces ships, General Iroh could be seen front and center. He had amber eyes, black hair, a light tan skin tone, while also having a United Forces uniform.
Beside him was Commander Bumi, who had pale blue eyes, brown hair, while having a light skin tone and wearing a United Forces uniform himself, yelled to the heavens when he saw the action going on in Republic City clapping his hands together while beating his chest. "WAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOO!"
He was a crazy one.
Iroh was used to this, so he would continue like absolutely nothing happened. "MEN!" He yelled, beginning to say his speech. "EVERYTHING'S A CHALLENGE! THROUGH ADVERSITY! TO THE LAST MAN, TO THE LAST SECOND! WE FIGHT!"
"WE FIGHT!"
"WE FIGHT!"
"WE FIGHT!"
"LET'S GOOOOO!"
That was the entire army repeating the 'we fight,' saying it along with Iroh. On that note, they began to fire everything, attacking the mechs and the Egg Fleet with all their force.
This was a sight for sore eyes.
As this was happening, Tails, Knuckles, and Mako cheered, but Korra remained silent.
Her mind went somewhere else, but it wasn't by choice.
"Korra…"
She could have sworn she felt somebody calling her name, or trying to call her name.
Her head, by instinct or possibly something else, turned to Avatar Aang Memorial Island.
Tails noticed this, saying, "Korra? You alright?"
Korra kept on staring at Avatar Aang Memorial Island, taking a little bit of time before replying, "I have to get over there." she said, pointing to the island.
"You must be insane! We just traveled all the way to City Hall, and now you're planning on going backwards throughout all this madness?!" Mako screamed, but the scream came from worry. He didn't want to see Korra get hurt.
"I'd just let her go, bud." Knuckles said, placing a hand on Mako's shoulder. "If the Avatar has to get there for some other mystical, spiritual Avatar reason, then let her."
"That still doesn't answer how she's gonna get there! There's still airships that fire off beams of death!" Mako was willing to let go of Korra that easily. He did make a good point, though. How was Korra gonna make it all the way to Avatar Aang Memorial Island unscathed?
Soon, she would get her answer.
In the sky, an Egg Fleet airship would explode, causing a major shockwave which caught the attention of the group. First of all, it was quite the light show. Second of all, who or what just made an entire ship explode?
The group squinted their eyes, and the answer they got… was quite shocking.
"Wasn't that literally the same guy who was trying to kill us?" Korra stated.
She was talking about Infinite, who now was dashing from Egg Fleet ship to Egg Fleet ship, taking them out one by one.
Tails and Knuckles saw this, causing both of them to look at each other with a smirk. "Sonic works his magic yet again." Tails told Knuckles.
Knuckles chuckled. "Gotta say, he never ceases to amaze me."
"You're saying that he convinced a death machine to attack all the other death machines?" Mako replied, scratching the back of his head. "I mean, sure, that works."
He would turn back to Korra. "Still, I know it's kinda hard to do right now… But be safe." he told her. "I care about you, ya know?"
Korra smiled. "The feeling's mutual."
Knuckles sighed heavily, facepalming himself at the moment Korra and Mako were having. "Alright, okay, real emotional stuff everybody. Now can Korra get where she needs to be before this city gets obliterated?"
Korra nodded, before taking off on her own.
Seeing her figure get farther and farther away, Mako, Tails, and Knuckles were now left to defend one side of Republic City.
"Let's make this count, guys." Tails said, having a look of determination.
"You read my mind." Knuckles replied, cracking his knuckles.
Shortly afterwards, Mako opened his palm, fire appearing above it. "Let's do this."
Back with Blaze, Toza, Asami, and Bolin
Blaze, Toza, and Asami were doing an excellent job fighting off the Equalists. A few of them had motorcycles, which made Asami get an idea.
BGM: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 – Going Down On It
After seeing all the mechs that were beaten, meaning there were parts everywhere, that only meant she could use these parts. Grabbing an energy blaster from a defeated mech, Asami would get on a motorcycle, revving it up when she saw there were more mechs and chi blockers coming their way.
"I know what you're planning, and uh, are you sure that's a good idea?" Blaze asked, as Asami looked back at her with a smirk.
"Trust me, I'm a professional."
What she meant was she was a professional motorcycle rider.
But firing a gun that shoots out energy blasts? That might be a different story.
Not wanting to hear anything else, Asami took off on the motorcycle, heading straight for the army like an absolute madwoman. Toza, Blaze, and Bolin all looked at her like she was insane.
"Ya think she's lost it?" Toza mentioned.
Bolin grunted, still being in pain but at least he was more responsive now. "No doubt in my mind." he replied.
Still, what they saw afterwards would be quite the sight.
Asami, being the madwoman she was, was going full speed towards the army of Equalists. Controlling the motorcycle with one hand, while also using the gun with her other hand, she would begin firing with no regard for human life.
Okay, that might be a bit much, she still kept the safety of the civilians in mind, but she was still shooting that mech gun like she was indeed crazy. All she did was aim at any Equalist, and just started firing.
What would happen next?
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Absolute destruction followed wherever Asami went, blasting a lot of the Equalists into buildings. "GET OUTTA MY CITY!"
Welp, Bolin's, Blaze's, and Toza's jaws dropped, their silence being enough to describe their shock.
Avatar Aang Memorial Island
BGM: Dragon Ball Z – Mystic Gohan Theme
Korra made it to the island, entering inside. This didn't bring back the greatest memories for her, considering the last time she was here, Amon knocked her out, and when she woke up, she saw Sonic in horrible condition.
Nonetheless, it wasn't time to think about old news right now. For some reason, it's like she was being called here. And when she finally made it, she felt a weird, tingly feeling throughout her body.
She sat down, getting into her meditation position while closing her eyes.
Spirit World
Well, holy crap.
For the first time ever, Korra has entered the Spirit World, which means she's connected with her spiritual side.
Who knows if this'll only be a one time thing, but for now, it's good to acknowledge that she was making progress.
It's like Korra was standing on clouds, and being surrounded by them. The area she was in had a golden tint to it, but honestly, that wasn't the most surprising thing.
The most surprising thing would be this.
On the opposite side of Korra, there was a man that could be seen. A bald man, to be specific. Airbending tattoos, airbender attire, a beard, and a smile you couldn't forget.
He was older now, but that dang smile proved he still had a young spirit deep inside.
"It's good to see you, Korra. What took you so long?" Aang told her, still showing his smile.
Korra was dumbfounded for a moment, still wondering how the heck this was happening. Oh Lord, she was in the presence of Aang.
Which, in another way, you could say she was in the presence of herself… Well, past self, but let's not drag this on.
Korra respectfully placed a fist into her palm, bowing her head to Aang.
Aang would do the same.
But now, it was time to get down to business.
"I have something very important to tell you, Korra." Aang began, facing her. "That is why I called you here."
Saying this, Aang came closer to Korra, letting his fingers touch her forehead. As soon as Aang made contact with Korra, she got a bevy of flashbacks, all of them being clear as day.
It's like she was there herself… Well, really, she was there, it's just that Aang was there as the past life.
Once Aang gave all of the flashbacks Korra needed, he took his fingers off her forehead and took a step back.
She was shocked, to say the least.
"Amon and Tarrlok… are the sons of Yakone?!" she exclaimed, her mind running wild. Yakone was a vicious bloodbender who tried to take over Republic City back in the day.
Aaaaand now everything is starting to make sense, for both of them.
"Wait… Does that mean… Amon is a bender? Has he been hiding his abilities this entire time?" Korra asked, to which Aang gave a confirming nod.
"Not only is Amon a bender, but he's more powerful than both his brother and his father." Aang replied, to which Korra sighed deeply.
"Great. Just great. And you needed the Avatar State to beat Yakone. I don't know if you've noticed, but I can't enter the Avatar State since I suck with my spiritual side!"
Aang shrugged. "You can't suck that bad if you're here right now." he pointed out. "I wasn't some master of the Avatar State or my spiritual side when I was around your age either." He then proceeded to smirk. "But I know you can master your spiritual side, for you have done it before."
Korra had a smirk of her own once she heard this comment.
"Still, though. What if I have questions? How will I talk to you?" Korra asked.
"I am a part of you. When you need to talk to me again, you will find a way." replied Aang, closing his eyes. He saw what was going on in the physical world. The Equalists, Amon, the Egg Fleet, the mechs, everything. "A great danger awaits you when you return. I can help you face the threat, but only if you are ready."
Suddenly, Korra's eyes began to glow, her voice now having all of the Avatar's voices that came before her.
"I'm ready."
Physical World
BGM: Avatar: The Last Airbender Theme Extended Version
Once Korra returned to the physical world, a bright blue light surrounded all of Republic City. Her physical body turned into a spiritual form of Aang's body, looking exactly like him from head to toe, with the only difference having a blue tint.
In reality, what this really means is Aang has taken over her body for time being.
Once all of Republic City saw what was happening after the light cleared, the civilians, Team Avatar, Team Sonic, the Equalists, and everybody else thought they saw a living god.
The water, earth, and fire temples glowed a bright light across the globe, just like how they all once did over 100 years ago when Aang entered the Avatar State at the Southern Air Temple.
"…D-Dad…?" Tenzin managed to say, being in utter disbelief along with his entire family. Well, at least it shows that they successfully escaped.
"What in the name of-" Eggman said, looking through one of his Egg Fleet ships, seeing Aang's body.
Back on the ground, Bolin for sure thought he was hallucinating. "I'm pretty sure I'm on drugs. Am I on drugs?" he said, pretty much saying there was no possible way he was seeing Aang's body right now.
"No, Bolin… We all see it." Toza said, being completely amazed at this sight. Blaze was speechless, placing her hand over her mouth.
On the other side of Republic City, Mako, Tails, and Knuckles were amazed to see this too. "Is that…?" Tails began, as Mako nodded.
"Avatar Aang? Yes." Mako confirmed.
"But isn't he supposed to be dead?" Knuckles asked. "What the heck is going on?!"
"The only thing I can come up with is Avatar spiritual stuff." Mako responded, still not believing what he was seeing.
On the ships, Iroh and Bumi looked up at this sight as well, their minds going at a rapid pace, not even sure what to say in this moment.
"Is that… Dad?" Bumi said, almost feeling like he was about to cry.
Iroh could only shake his head, smiling all the while. "Even after all these years, Aang is still looking out for us."
Finally, with Sonic, he took a long look at Aang, but then he felt a sharp pain in his head, his eyes glowing for a short moment, until they stopped doing so. He held his head in pain, but once he looked back up at Aang, it's like… he could tell that was really Korra, but by some alternative means.
"Korra?" Sonic managed to say, seeing Aang's body but somehow knowing it was Korra.
A story for a later date.
Once Aang rose, he looked at all of the mechs and Equalists down below, pulling his arms back and unleashed a massive amount of fire from his body, blasting a lot of the army away. The Equalists that knew what was good for them started to run away like cowards, not wanting to feel the fury of Aang's wrath.
Aang's head would turn to the water below, moving his right arm, effectively parting the sea. He clenched his fist, bending all of the water to his absolute will, letting it rise to sky and strike right through the heart of the airships, wiping a good amount of them completely out.
Though, Aang could only take control for so long.
There was a time limit, and soon, Korra had to take control again.
Landing back on Avatar Aang Memorial Island, Aang's spiritiual body would disappear, making Korra's actual physical body to return.
She held her head for a moment, being completely drained. "What… In the world happened?" she asked herself, not being sure with what she just did.
With Sonic
After Korra or Aang put on one of the greatest light shows in history, Sonic was still separated from the group. He figured after seeing something like that, now would be a good time to reunite with them.
But then he heard a noise.
He quickly turned around, seeing if there was anything behind him, but…
There was nothing.
At least, that's what they wanted him to think.
He turned around again, seeing that a bomb was being thrown his way. Before he could dodge it, it already exploded, blasting him all the way into an abandoned building. With his back colliding with the wall, he fell face first to the broken floors. He was breathing heavily, blood running down his face as he was struggling to get up.
What would follow him into the building would be a huge mech, being way bigger than the usual ones everyone has fought today.
And what would also be different is that the person inside the mech would begin talking.
"Misery, misery, misery. That's what you've chosen." the voice said. It was hard to tell who it exactly was, but it was clear that he wasn't the biggest fan of Sonic. "You fight for the causes of benders, and that means you've effectively spat in my face."
Without hesitation, the mech raised its arm and fired a mega blast at Sonic, blasting him away even farther into the abandoned building. As Sonic's body was flying, the mech went after him, effectively grabbing his body and dragged his face across the floor with the current high-speed momentum it had.
Then, to continue in beating the ever-living crap out of Sonic, the mech slammed his body into another wall, completely breaking it. The mech would then give itself and Sonic a good distance between them.
Sonic, who was trying his best to fight back, would try to spindash right into the mech. However, the mech would counter this attack by firing an electric beam, successfully electrocuting Sonic and blasting him away yet again.
Yet, even after all that, Sonic was still living.
Heck, Sonic was still trying to get up.
BGM: Johnny Cash - Hurt
He was breathing heavily, trying to recover from the beatdown he received, but it was easier said than done. His head slowly looked up at the mech, saying these three words.
"…Who are you?"
The mech was silent for a good bit, but then laughter could be heard. With the cockpit opening up, the person controlling the mech would reveal himself.
Sonic's eyes would widen, not believing the sight he was seeing. "Mr. Sato?"
"The one and only." Hiroshi spoke, his tone having nothing but malicious intent.
"But… why? Why would you join Amon and the Equalists?" Sonic asked, struggling to speak. "Can't you see all the pain he's caused?"
"Pain?" Hiroshi repeated, his eyes and face having vexation. "You want to tell me about pain?! I know what that feels like! When these benders took my wife away from me, what do you think I felt?!" Hiroshi simply wasn't having it with Sonic. "So, don't talk to me about pain, not after what happened to me!"
"Listen to yourself!" Sonic pleaded, still struggling to get up. "Do you think your wife would be happy with this?! Do you think your wife would be happy with who you've become?!"
Hiroshi snarled. "Don't you act like you knew her! I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to do! I'm avenging her!"
Sonic now got back on his feet, gritting his teeth. "No, you idiot! You're not avenging her by doing stupid crap like this! What about Asami?! Your own daughter?! What does she matter to you?!"
"What I'm doing right now is best for her!" Hiroshi retorted, but Sonic shook his head.
"No, you're only thinking about yourself!" He pointed right at him, his anger now rising. "You're blind, you know that?! You're so focused on avenging your wife, revenge this, revenge that, that you've completely forgotten about your own daughter! You don't even know how she feels about you!" Sonic shouted, coming to the defense of Asami.
"Maybe if you played the role of being an actual father, you would know this about your freaking daughter, but what are YOU focused on? Not her, that's for sure!" Sonic continued his onslaught, making Hiroshi enraged.
"I advise you to not speak on things you know nothing about, boy!" Hiroshi emitted, his yell pulling out the full power of his vocal cords that traveled all across the abandoned building.
Deciding to end this right now, Hiroshi was making the mech charge up a blast that would probably most certainly kill Sonic. And heck, if it didn't kill him instantly, it would be a delayed kill.
"Nowhere to run now, you little smart mouth! You'll die alone!" Hiroshi yelled, getting ready to fire the blast.
"CHAOS SPEAR!"
A voice called out from behind Hiroshi, making him turn around. "What the-?!"
BGM: Sonic Adventure 2 - Throw It All Away by Everett Bradley
Before Hiroshi could even react, the Chaos Spear attack struck the mech's legs, effectively blasting them off. Sonic looked to the other side, his eyes widening at the voice.
"No… That can't be…"
"Who else could it be, Faker?" Shadow said seriously. He might have been joking, but his tone was so dead serious that it was hard to tell. Ah, typical Shadow.
Hiroshi would press a few buttons in the mech, before getting out.
It looks like he was beaten.
Shadow came closer to Sonic, as the blue blur wanted to ask some questions, but they would focus on more important matters for now.
"If you think this is the end… Then you're sadly mistaken."
With Hiroshi saying these words, a mech behind Sonic and Shadow would charge into the abandoned building, having a blade that looked like it could penetrate just about anything. This was due to him pressing some buttons in his old mech before getting out.
With Sonic and Shadow turning around at the last possible second, seeing the blade coming right for them, their speed would get them out of the way just in time, leaving the only target to be Hiroshi.
"Oh."
As soon as Hiroshi said this, the blade struck him right in the chest, making Sonic's and Shadow's eyes widen.
It wasn't a pretty sight, to say the least.
With Hiroshi taking his final breath, he would tell Sonic this. "Sonic…"
Sonic would look on, not being sure what to think.
"Don't tell Asami…"
And those were his last words, his body not only being lifeless, but it actually was lifeless.
Sonic looked down, got to his knees and slammed the floor, yelling to the heavens. Shadow was slightly confused at this reaction, so he would ask him a question.
"Are… you upset that he's dead?" Shadow asked. "Wasn't he just trying to kill you earlier?"
Sonic nodded. "Yes, but it's more than that. That dude was the father of one of my friends." He started rubbing his forehead. "God how am I ever gonna explain this to her…"
Outside The Abandoned Building
Korra made it back to Republic City, but she couldn't find the rest of her group. In fact, she was in an area where it seems like most people have evacuated.
But… she wouldn't be alone for long.
Just in a few short moments, Korra felt like she lost control of her body, yelling out in pain. Her body was being brought towards Amon, who was bloodbending her.
"If only I could cause you the pain you and your friends have caused me." Amon said. As soon as Korra was close enough, he kicked her right in the face, making her skid across the pavement.
Korra was scared, and rightfully so, but Amon bloodbending her proved one thing. "Heh heh… So, Aang was right. Not that it's a surprise, really." she spoke, getting up. "You really are the son of Yakone."
Once Amon heard that name, he bloodbended Korra again, this time making it excruciatingly painful for her. One wrong move and Amon could seriously break some bones. "After I take your bending away, you won't be talking like this anymore."
"Amon!"
The other voice made Amon turn around, seeing that his Lieutenant found out the truth.
Oops, Amon thought he and Korra were alone.
"You're… a bender?" The lieutenant asked, his spirit honestly sounding like it was broken for a moment.
But then that spirit would be replaced by nothing but unyielding rage. "YOU TRAITOR! I GAVE MY LIFE TO YOU!" he screamed, charging right at Amon.
Though, with only the movement of his head, Amon was now bloodbending the lieutenant. "You've served me well, Lieutenant." Amon told him, proceeding to gruesomely kill him by making all his limbs be in places they shouldn't be in. Finally, he would dispose of his Lieutenant by throwing his now lifeless body into the pavement, ending him right then and there.
Good Lord, that's something you don't wanna see, and Korra is the one who saw ALL of it.
"Now, where were we?" Amon told Korra, his tone being calm, yet downright menacing at the same time.
"AMOOOOOOOON!"
BGM: Stan Bush – Til All Are One
Before Amon could finish the deal with Korra, he was spindashed right in the chest by Sonic, sending him flying which gave him and Korra some good distance away from that lunatic.
"Sonic?" Korra said.
Sonic looked towards her, showing a slight smile. "Come on, we don't have much time. We gotta get outta here-"
Yep, before Sonic and Korra could run, Amon bloodbended them, forcing them to stay stationary.
But then Amon would get a tap on his shoulder, making him look behind and to his surprise, he saw Shadow.
"Remember me?"
At a moment's notice, Shadow clocked Amon in the jaw, which made Sonic and Korra break free of his bloodbending in the process.
Still, if they thought they were safe, they would have another thing coming.
"OH, I'VE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME FOR THIS!"
Jumping off the main Egg Fleet airship would be Eggman in his giant mech, along with multiple robots landing with him. "Bloodbending controls, ALL SYSTEMS, FULL POWER!"
Saying this, Eggman's robots were now bloodbending Sonic, Shadow, and Korra.
Oh dear GOD.
"YOU'RE TELLING ME THESE ROBOTS CAN BLOODBEND TOO?!" Sonic shouted, being frustrated that he lost control of his body once again.
"By letting the doctor analyze my own abilities and letting him use the research however he wanted, this is what makes the bloodbending robots possible." Amon explained, now walking over to Korra to finish the job once again.
"You're pathetic." Korra told him. "You've tried so hard to not be like your father, except you're just like him. Ruling by fear."
"Much like how you benders treat non-benders, correct? Ruling by fear?" Amon retorted, having none of it. "Honestly, all of you are delusional." he said, putting his fingers onto Korra's forehead.
"I will purge you of your sins. Permanently." Amon stated, Korra's eyes becoming wide out of fear.
"NO!" Sonic shouted, trying his best to break out of the bloodbending, but it was futile. "KORRA!"
Despite Sonic's screams, the process would soon be completed. Korra fall forwards, feeling powerless and looking lifeless.
Her bending has been taken away.
"NO! NO, NO, NO!" Sonic repeatedly shouted, making Amon turn to him.
"And as for you," Amon said, coming closer to Sonic. "You've been such an annoyance. Probably an even bigger annoyance than the Avatar herself." he told him. "I think I should personally kill you."
"But you're not!"
Amon turned around to the voice that said this, and before he knew it, he was struck in the face with a powerful water bullet, sending him flying all across Republic City and into the water, making his mask come off along with his makeup.
Though, the question needs to be asked… Who could've done that?
"Finally, he shuts up." Tahno said, breathing heavily. Honestly, it looked like he just recovered from Infinite's blast from way back in the battle.
Speaking of Infinite!
"Hey, Doctor!"
Eggman would look up in his large mech, seeing not only Infinite, but a humongous supernova hovering over his index finger.
It looked like it could literally obliterate everything.
"Catch!" Infinite playfully and manically said, shooting the supernova right at Eggman's large mech and robots.
"EJECT, EJECT!" Eggman said, slamming the big red button, to which he did eject out of the mechs right before the supernova collided with not only his mech and his robots, but the blast radius was so massive it destroyed the rest of his Egg Fleet, creating the biggest explosion Republic City has ever seen.
With Eggman comically landing on the ground, just like that, his plans were ruined once again.
And as quickly as Infinite came, he also quickly left.
Still, there was one more problem to deal with.
Rising from the literal water ashes was Amon, being lifted up by a water cyclone. The civilians all turned around, witnessing this sight in shock.
Their beloved Amon was a bender.
"I- I can't believe this! Amon is a waterbender!"
"It's clear as day!"
"He's been lying to us this entire time!"
The look on Amon's face, or in this case, Noatak's face, which wasn't scarred whatsoever, was a look that knew his plans were ruined now that people knew the truth. He would flee from the scene, as it was debatable if he was ever gonna be seen again.
The battle… the war… was officially won.
Moments Later
BGM: The Legend of Korra – Asami & Hiroshi
"Asami Sato?! Where is Asami Sato?!" A metalbending cop asked, getting the attention of Asami.
"I'm over here. What seems to be the problem?" Asami honestly asked, but by the look on the cop's face, she had a feeling the news wouldn't be good.
With a heavy voice, the cop would say, "Miss Sato… As we were investigating if any civilians were killed during the Equalist invasion, we found your father in an abandoned building."
Asami's heart dropped, not wanting to accept what the officer may be saying. "He's… He's okay right?"
With a slow, slow nod, the officer looked at Asami dead in her eyes. "I'm sorry ma'am… but your father was killed during the invasion."
Once Asami heard these words, that's when her whole world stopped. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was in the middle of trying to process it.
Even after everything they've been through, even after their huge argument in front of everybody, even after how she felt like she lost him after her mother died…
It didn't change the fact that she never stopped loving him.
Asami dropped to her knees, beginning to cry.
She's not only lost her mother, but she's lost her father too.
Forever.
If Bolin was feeling well, he would go over and give Asami a hug, but it was too painful to do so. Blaze and Toza were left their standing, not sure what to do and how to help Asami.
She was all alone.
Days Later in the Southern Water Tribe
BGM: The Legend of Korra – Separated Ways
Team Avatar and Team Sonic were now in the Southern Water Tribe. They were all standing by a White Lotus Compound, and walking out of that compound would be no one other than the legendary Katara, who was much older these days.
Everyone looked at her to hear the important news, hoping for the best.
Though, this wouldn't be news they would want to hear.
"I've tried everything," Katara said honestly, feeling broken herself. "I… I wasn't able to restore Korra's bending."
Lin couldn't believe this. "But you're the best healer in the world! There has to be something you can do!"
Katara could only give a disagreeing nod, being disappointed in herself.
Moments later, and Korra would come out the compound, walking past everyone and not saying a word. She would ride on Naga, getting away from everybody.
Sonic would look on in silence, before deciding to run after her.
Sometime Later…
When Korra thought she was far away enough from everyone else, she stopped Naga and walked towards a cliff. She stood there in silence, and honestly…
Well, she was thinking about suicide.
She was an Avatar that couldn't bend anymore.
She was an Avatar who still couldn't consistently connect with her spiritual side.
She was an Avatar who's been in Aang's shadow for the longest time now.
All of these expectations hit her full force during her time in Republic City, and it really hit during the Equalist invasion.
She feels like she failed, like she had nothing to live for anymore.
She started crying, and the more she cried, the closer she got to the edge of the cliff.
Before she could get any closer, though, Sonic would stop her by grabbing her hand. "I can't let you do that, Korra."
"Go away." Korra told him seriously, not wanting to speak to anybody. "If it's something I want to do, then let me do it. I've failed at everything else."
The whole great expectations thing was clearly getting to her, as evidenced by her words to Sonic.
"Korra, please listen to me. We can figure something out-"
"THERE'S NOTHING TO FIGURE OUT!" Korra shouted, hitting Sonic right in the face which pushed him off her. She turned around in pure anger, but it only took about 2 seconds to realize what she did.
She hit him.
She hit Sonic.
And for a moment, even if she didn't mean it now, within the moment, she intentionally hit him.
Sonic looked at Korra, holding the side of his face, now not sure what to say.
Korra nodded repeatedly, cursing herself out over and over again in her head for letting this happen.
Out of all the people to take her anger out on, she took it out on Sonic?
The one guy who has consistently tried to help her throughout this entire journey?
No, no, no, no.
Korra, who was now fully bursting into tears and felt like she couldn't even look at Sonic anymore, ran away from him. She got on Naga and left the blue blur all alone to himself.
Sonic sat there, now not sure what to do.
BGM: Spider-Man 2002 OST - Farewell
"I wish I could tell you guys that we'll make up and act like nothing ever happened, but unfortunately… I can't say that. I don't know if our friendship will ever be the same. Heck, maybe it's for the best. We shouldn't even be in this world in the first place."
Sonic can now be seen running across the Southern Water Tribe waters, looking at the sky above him.
"But it's my fault. It's my fault we're in this situation to begin with. I'm not sure if we're able to call this place home, but if it has to be our home for the time being, then so be it. The people of this planet, I've witnessed their capacity for courage, and while we might be from different worlds entirely, like us, there's more to them than meets the eye."
"I am Sonic The Hedgehog, and I send this message to any of my friends who are lost out there in this world. You are not alone. We are here."
Sonic then blasts off at high speeds, being out of sight.
"We are waiting."

Author's Note: The Book 1 Finale… is DONE. WOOOOOOO. Some answers were answered, but so, so many more questions were made. Writing Book 1 was a wild ride, and I thank you guys for being on this journey with me. Let me be the first to say, I can't wait to write Book 2. Out of all the books in Korra, this is the book I can't wait to rewrite the most because it's the most controversial one in the series, and I can't wait for all you guys to see what I do with it.
