The Amazing Deku Side Story
Disclaimer: I don't own Spider-Man or My Hero Academia.
Kei: This chapter is a rewrite. Well, they'll all be. But this one more than the others.
Lessons
As the action continues at the plaza, over by the water are three members of Class 1-A, Camie, Asui, and Mineta. After escaping from where they were sent, the two come before the chaotic violence going on. While viewing as low as they could, Asui keeps her eyes on Aizawa combating villains with ease.
"Midoriya's doing pretty well himself," says Mineta with his hands to his mouth, trying to sneak a sniff from Camie's soaking red tights.
As Asui fake drowns him for acting that way in this situation, Camie says, "We can't keep hiding like this."
Mineta manages to resurface just in time to say, "We can't get involved! We only got away from those guys thanks to your Quirk."
Kicking a guy into the water, Izuku lands where they are by chance. "Asui? Utsushimi? Mineta?"
"Call me Tsuyu," says the frog girl.
"Midoriya! Are you crazy? You-" He covers his mouth when a villain comes Izuku's way.
This one ends up being the caped wonder who has been watching him from the beginning. He clenches his claws staring at him. Izuku goes into a crouch preparing to fight. The man raises his metal claw gauntlet and points to him. "So, you must be Izuku Midoriya, the successful accident."
Izuku tenses even more. "What are you talking about? And how do you know me?"
"You've done well besting these losers. So many villains taken down by your power and speed, and you're not even tired."
"Have you been watching me?"
The man narrows his eyes at him, which was easy to tell even with the mask on. "I make a habit of studying my targets. That is my duty as Dragon."
Dragon is his name. Does that mean his Quirk is related to that of a dragon? "Why are you guys here? What's the point in attacking us?!"
"Tomura Shigaraki wanted to kill All Might and employed my services to assist." The man points to his classmates behind him. "You three can leave. This is between the two of us."
The three of them look to one another contemplating this choice. Mineta, the most fearful, shouts, "No way! We're not leaving our classmate behind!"
"That's right," Asui adds. Camie nods in agreement.
"Then burn." He aims his gauntlet at them. Before he could fire, Izuku shoots webbing to cover it.
"Guys, run! I'll be fine!"
A cry of pain catches all parties off guard. Eyes back to the rest of the plaza, Izuku and the others gape in horror seeing Aizawa face down in the dirt held by the head and arm by the black bulking behemoth among the villains. The monstrous villain crackles and snaps Aizawa's arm. Even though his Quirk is erasing this enemy's, he still can't move.
Unable to let this go on, Izuku runs to his rescue. His assailant slides around in front of him and kicks the spider boy back. "Such a disappointment. You were better off Quirkless."
Izuku flinches at those words, raising his head to glare at the assassin. Does he know that he's Quirkless? "How do you know that?"
"I haven't just been watching you today." Dragon rushes forth with his glowing gauntlets and boots. Izuku tries to fight back, but each strike he blocks releases a shockwave that increases the damage. "And I know that you're a Quirkless child who gained powers from the venom of the spiders created by Astro Corporation, a freak accident. A mutation."
He spins and backhands Izuku in the ribs, sending him down a knee. "You didn't question those powers and decided to become a hero, not fully understanding what it truly means to plan and train your abilities for years. You would have been better off as a powerless child without a foolish dream."
His emotions getting the best of him, Izuku blocks an incoming punch by grabbing Dragon's wrist. He then pulls him in closer to punch the villain in the face. Clocking his jaw, pieces of his red mask crack and break.
As Dragon stumbles backward, Izuku says, "So what if I was Quirkless? Is it wrong to have a dream? Is it wrong to want something out of life?!" He shoots a web line to pull Dragon forward for another punch.
That's when his spider-sense activates as a stream of fire hits the webbing and torches his arm. He screams in pain as he rolls over and rips the sleeve off. 'Ah, man. Mom's suit…' His senses warn him again before he could process the villain's Quirk, as Dragon goes on the offensive again.
"If you won't listen to reason, listen to logic." He claws Izuku's chest, ripping off bits of green and white from his homemade suit. "It took fifteen minutes for you and your teacher to engage those thugs and his arm to be broken. You two only survived this long because of your abilities and Quirk and they're not helping you now. Without them…"
He punches Izuku in the ribs again, causing him to hunch over before a sweep kick sends Izuku down. His hand grasps the spider boy's throat. "Let's just say I wouldn't need fifteen seconds."
Izuku struggles for breath. "Power alone only gets you so far, but without it you can't put out fires, stop villains, or save anyone. Even yourself."
He throws the boy to the floor, giving him time to recover. "What would have done to get through that door if that spider never bit you?"
Beaten, broken, belittled, Izuku scrambles to his feet and hands. He can't bring himself to fight back, physically or even verbally. Nothing he said has been wrong: no one cared about him before he gained these powers, his parents have said nothing to encourage his path, and even All Might once said he couldn't become a hero without powers. Dragon is right.
"Midoriya/Deku!" Up at the stairs, the class of 1-A watch in horror as their class president is taken down with ease by one man.
The man of black mist appears beside Shigaraki. "Shigaraki, we have a problem."
"Is Thirteen still alive?"
"Yes, but it's worst. One of the students made it out." That angers the blue-haired villain.
He cups his chin griping on what to do. "Oh, what an untangling this is becoming… the Noumu might handle some of them, but not if they work with All Might. We'll probably have to drop some guys behind to keep them busy unless we leave now. As for the project…"
His eyes tote to Dragon. "We're leaving. Bring in whoever we need back so we can leave."
"Fine." The assassin places a finger on his earpiece. "Sixty seconds back to the plaza."
"Wait!" Izuku gets up, glaring his eyes at the man before him. "You… you're going to come here and attack us? And then just leave?"
Dragon keeps his back to him. "What are you guys after?!"
There's a pause in movement and words. Even as the other villains recover, he ignores Izuku. He has nothing to say to him.
At that moment, the door bursts open. All of the students there flinch and face the new arrival, gasping with joy at the man who has arrived. "I was already on my way here when Iida-kun told me the situation. You've all had a real scare. But you can no longer fear."
Stepping into USJ is the man himself, the Symbol of Peace All Might in his yellow suit. "Because I am here!" He rips off his tie as the anger overpowers his smile.
Before anyone can blink, the hero dashes down the steps, punching and knocking out every villain in his path along the way including Shigaraki. He then lands just in front of Aizawa, the Noumu having already let him go.
"Aizawa!" All Might lifts him to check his condition. 'What could have done this to him?'
Among the villains knocked out, Shigaraki is the quickest to recover. He coughs holding his stomach but he still laughs. "Fast enough to avoid my sight, and strong enough to knock out anyone in his way… but you're not as fast as you were supposed to be."
All Might glances back at Shigaraki, only to ignore him when he spots someone else in the vicinity; Dragon. Seeing him causes the hero to widen his eyes, who remains undeterred despite the blond adonis' overwhelming power and pressure. 'Dragon?! What is he doing here?'
"All Might," speaks the green hunter. "Don't be so surprised; you knew this would happen the day you became a teacher here. Being assaulted by all angles from those who hate you is part of your job as a hero."
"And I suppose it's your job to assault children?" All Might barks with familiarity, something that Izuku catches.
"I've done mine. Now do yours." He turns to join Kurogiri and Shigaraki.
"Not so fast!" All Might rushes in with his arms crossed. "Carolina!"
Upon reaction to the sudden command from Shigaraki, the beast moves fast enough to block All Might's strike. This starts the battle between the two.
As this happens, Izuku checks to see that the path to the door is clear. 'I can get there… but…' He thinks back and remembers when he first met All Might. 'All Might still has his injury, and he's been working hard all day today prior…'
As the fight progresses, he spots All Might has been pinned by the Noumu and Kurogiri using his warping Quirk. The black thing is even grasping the hero's scar. This has to have been their plan.
Gnashing his teeth together, he angrily gets up and makes his decision.
The green hunter glances back to see Izuku making his run. 'You just don't learn, do you?' Dragon turns to face the spider boy.
Izuku jumps up high in the air and pulls something out from his belt. He then cracks it open before tossing the capsule out at the assassin; webbing explodes out in a thick wave. Dragon holds his left arm out and releases a stream of flames from the wrist of his gauntlet. The flames burn away his webbing and cover his face.
Acting fast, he shoots webbing to the ground and pulls himself down. He lands with a heavy thud, taking a crouching position before aiming his webs at Dragon's ankles. Tightening his grip as the villain is distracted, Izuku pulls hard to take away his footing.
As the villain smashes his head into the ground, Izuku moves forward to his real target.
"Time to die, All Might," speaks Shigaraki as he walks forward to the down hero. "I'll be sure to collect whatever remains of you to be scattered across the sea."
All Might struggles as best as he can. But with his form at its limit and the blood gushing from the scar the Noumu is grasping, it's obvious this isn't ideal. He can't even move.
"All Might!" Izuku shouts as he leaps upward, kicking Shigaraki in the head and sending him flying. As the villain rolls, he slides into a crouch before going back to help All Might.
"Midoriya, stay back!" Someone shouts this to him just as his spider-sense kicks in. He jumps back as a trail of ice freezes over half of the Noumu's body. This loosens its grip on the Symbol of Peace, allowing him to slip free.
At the same time, a screaming Pomeranian comes down and slams into Kurogiri in an explosive impact. The misty villain groans as he's hit hard; Bakugo remains over top of him with his smoldering palm on the metal guard Kurogiri has over his neck.
"Gotcha, ya warp bastard!" Bakugo growls proudly. "Any movement outta ya, and I'll blow you a new asshole!"
A new person enters the scene, this person being Shoto Todoroki. His body mists from the ice he summoned as he says, "I heard about your little plan: your little pet monster here is for pinning down All Might, allowing you to use your Quirk to decay him. Well, it won't work so easily."
"Such precision at his age…" All Might says, noticing that the ice got the monster but not him.
Kirishima comes in as well. "Phew. You guys made it in time."
Izuku sighs with relief seeing his classmates have come in for the clutch. "I guess Kacchan has his specialties."
Tomura Shigaraki picks himself with a slight annoyance in his eyes. "I'm gonna pretend that test subject didn't kick me." He faces Bakugo. "But as for you, get off of my ride!"
"Not so close!" Bakugo releases a small explosion, causing Kurogiri to grunt. "Either of you tries anything, and the shadow monarch over here gets a bad skin condition."
"Not very heroic," is Kirishima's statement.
Seeing his situation, Shigaraki sighs with annoyance. This is not how he had this planned. The criminals he strung together at the last second are no match for kids barely a month into hero training. "Well, that's what I get for hiring amateurs. Luckily, I possess something far greater."
With a snap of his fingers, he says, "Noumu, kill that kid and rescue Kurogiri."
Hearing its master's command, the beast pulls itself out of the still open warp-gate. Its right half falls apart as a result of frostbite, still being able to move regardless. Such actions spook the students seeing how it's completely undeterred by its weakened state. It gets even worse seeing the monster's body pulse. The missing limbs regrow within seconds, allowing them to stand tall and roar.
All Might stands before Kirishima and Todoroki, saying, "What is this thing?! Being able to take my punches and regenerate?!"
"That's my perfect little creation, an artificially enhanced being made to do whatever I say; name, Noumu." His monster roars once more as it gets used to the new limbs. "Having multiple Quirks and an inhuman body comes in handy against heroes with Quirks that they've trained years to put them near your level."
A second later, the monster charges for Bakugo. Everything slows down for him as the Noumu reaches him, the monster throwing a punch to turn him into pudding. The impact causes a shockwave that nearly blows everyone away.
"Kacchan!" Izuku shouts in concern. As the smoke clears, he spots a shadow next to where he is a few feet away. "Eh?! You dodged that?!"
"Hell no." He states, his tone shaky and unsettling.
Back to where the attack was, he notices someone emerging from the smoke. All Might with a large bruise on his arm.
As everyone shouts his name, Shigaraki sighs with a shrug. "So much have I waited for this moment, to see you pay for all the harm you heroes have caused society."
"Harm?" All Might glares from where he stands. That blow hurts more than he expected.
"This society puts heroes in the spotlight and makes the youth think that they're everything everyone is supposed to be. But then they fail and are forced to live with broken dreams envious of the few who were lucky enough to be born with something amazing." As Shigaraki makes his speech, Izuku listens intently. Deep down, he feels strongly about that. "And the ones who succeed aren't better off, constantly being judged and hated by those who they have to protect."
"You talk as if you know what you're saying," All Might states as he gets up. "You just tried to murder a little child!"
"No, I didn't, because you are here. Remember?" He snickers while mocking All Might's catchphrase. "All Might, heroes have the most pointless job in the world."
Shigaraki glances over and sees ice coming his way. With his hand he touches the ice, and decays it into a diamond dust blizzard, causing Todoroki to grit his teeth. "Lots of people enjoy the hero lifestyle, the good they do, the lives they help reach another day, but there is always a flip side. Because the one thing those muggles love more than seeing heroes succeed is to see them fail. Fall. DIE TRYING."
He points to All Might. "Despite all your successes and sacrifices, eventually, they will hate you."
Once he's finished, All Might chuckles a bit. He then says, "It's interesting; how long did it take you to make that speech?"
The blond hero clenches his fist as his blue eyes lock onto Shigaraki. "Regardless of what choice you make, there is always something to sacrifice. Heroes make this sacrifice to help others no make the worst sacrifices. Because people like you think it's okay to do whatever you want to people who just want to live their everyday lives! Like, who was that person before you did whatever to his brain?!"
He points to the Noumu, and everyone understands what that means. This clearly must have been a person. "It doesn't matter who you are or what reasons you may have. You have no right to ruin the lives of others!"
Shigaraki remains static as All Might finishes his speech. As Kurogiri comes closer due to his freedom, the leader sighs. "That's true. No one should have to lose their peace and happiness because of others' selfishness." His eyes then reopen in a red-eyed glare. "The same should be said for selflessness too."
"What do you mean?"
Meanwhile, Kirishima and Bakugo watch from their respective places with intrigue at this battle of ideals.
"Do your students know by the way?"
"Know what?"
"… THAT YOU LET SHIMURA DIE?"
It hits him like a ton of bricks. All Might's resolve shatters into shards of glass from the villain's words, words that no one else would understand. It is all the villain needs however to get what he wants, an opening.
"GET HIM!" The tank Noumu rushes forward at All Might, still in shock by the words spoken.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Izuku has leaped in the air. His speed matches the monster allowing him to land on his back and shoulders. Feeling the boy on his back, the Noumu shakes about trying to get him loose, but the spider cling holds on strong.
Izuku grabs the beast's brains to better his hold.
"Midoriya!" shouts Todoroki and Kirishima seeing the spider boy on top of the beast that can match All Might.
"Midoriya, get off of him!" shouts All Might, part of his body emitting smoke. 'Oh no. My time limit.'
But Izuku keeps his hold. He grabs the monster's jaw and slips something inside. At that moment, the Noumu grips his abdomen and slams him into the pavement hard enough to send debris and leave a two-foot crater.
All witnesses call out for Izuku due to his possible death.
Watching them, Dragon keeps quiet with his claw in the ground in his crouch position. Seeing the boy slammed hard causes his grip on the pavement to tighten.
The Noumu then glares at All Might, ready to return to its job. But before it can make the kill, the black beast halts in place. It gasps out clutching at its throat as it suffers from dyspnea. Even its roar is raspy and almost non-existent. It drops to the floor still trying to breathe.
While down, Izuku pulls himself out from the crater. "Good. It worked."
"Midoriya?!" All Might shouts seeing him relatively unharmed. A monster capable of wounding him should have no doubt put a child unconscious.
"I dropped a web capsule inside its throat," he explains as he stands, still a little wobbly. "It may be strong enough to take All Might's punches, but all livings things need air."
Narrowing his eyes, Shigaraki glares at Izuku not knowing how to feel. While he's amazed that Izuku can take a hit from a Noumu engineered to face All Might, he's rather upset with his hand forced like this. He needs to do something before the Symbol of Peace gets his second wind.
"Looks like the plan has been ruined. We're leaving."
After this declaration, Dragon moves forward and fires a stream of flames at All Might. With his power, he backhands the flames releasing a wind to divert its path. Shigaraki lunges for the Noumu and grabs him in the midst of this distraction, but Todoroki sends a stream of ice his way. This is immediately decayed by his Quirk, but up above Bakugo rockets down to blast him.
A black mist forms over Shigaraki for Bakugo. "Shit, shit, shit!" He fails to stop in time before passing through accidentally. He comes out of another portal crashing headfirst into a hardened Kirishima aiming to stop the villains. The two crash painfully.
With that, a portal forms around Shigaraki and the Noumu, allowing the two to pass through. As he does, the villain glares at All Might, saying, "Enjoy these moments of triumph, All Might. They will be your last."
He disappears into the mist as more flames surround the spider boy and All Might.
Dragon passes by before coming to the mist. The assassin enters inside as the blond adonis blows away the flames. Izuku peers through the remaining flames and sees the man who has been after him all day looking back at him. He isn't sure he says this, but Izuku hears from him, "Good work, kid."
He disappears into the mist.
Kei: And that ends this chapter. The next one will be mainly the aftermath of this one, as well as preparations for the Sports Festival.

Kei: I don't have a problem! I just refuse to support people trying to be victims to escape repercussions. Nowadays, I don't even acknowledge them anymore, and those 'people' know who they are.
