It was the day of the party.
Momo, Mina, and Ochaco were all talking together in Ashido's room. Momo had noticed the wedge growing between two of her friends ever since one of them started to date Izuku, and if anyone, she could understand it because of her own personal reasons. So Momo had brought Ochaco to Ashido so they could sort things out.
'Especially considering, after what I told Izuku last night when we finished studying... That's right, our winter is over.' She sadly reflected to herself, reassuring herself, that the right thing to do was to bury her feeling down and instead support her friends' new relationship. 'We're all friends, right..?'
It, thankfully, went well enough, with Uraraka and Ashido both crying about how they still wanted to be friends and how they hated how awkward it was that they were the only two living on the same floor and yet were constantly avoiding each other.
"Oh isn't it a lot better now that you two talked it out?" Momo asked with a closed-eye smile, clasping her hands together over her bust.
Uraraka had a tearful giggle, nodding in agreement, "Yeah, you know, it's funny, it hurt whenever I thought about talking to you about Deku, but now that we did, I'm kind of relieved. I feel like I can properly move on." Uraraka had a bit of a shine in her bubbly eyes.
Mina let out a heavy sigh as if releasing the built-up tension she had in her back and shoulders. "I know what you mean, it's like that for me too, I didn't want you to think that I stole him from you or something, especially cause I was the one that always used to ask you about your relationship with him. It was just something that happened." Mina had small blush remembering how she ended up with Izuku, "But now I feel like I can be with him, without holding back!" Mina huffed up, puffing her cheeks up too.
"Yeah!" Uraraka got just as excited as her pink duo.
"How sweet." Momo tilted her head, letting her strand of hair become loose for the first time that day.
"So what about you, Yaomomo?" Mina asked.
"Pardon? What about me?" She blinked with her innocent cat eyes.
"Ochaco and I are out here in our feelings because of a boy, why aren't you?" Mina wanted to get away from the heavy subject and start to tease Momo about her love life because she couldn't do that to Uraraka anymore.
"E-Eh?" Momo let out her confused voice, still not understanding MIna. "Why would I have anything to do with something like that Ashido? After all, studying to be proper heroes is more important." But she was lying of course, 'That's right, no one needs to know that I planned to confess to Izuku, it's better that way.'
But then Mina turned to Ochaco and said, "Guess what, Yaomomo lost her v-card over winter break."
"Wh-What?!" Uraraka's eyes popped out, not able to believe what her friend just said.
"Ashido!" Momo's cheek flushed red as she snapped at Mina, bewildered that she could casually blurt out her personal information like that.
And because of Momo's reaction, Uraraka knew Ashido wasn't lying. "Eh! It's the truth!?"
That caused Momo's cheeks to heat up more to the point it was steaming as she seethed at Mina, "I told you that in confidence."
"I know, I know but c'mon it's Uraraka she won't tell anyone besides we're always bugging her about stuff like that," Mina was laughing the whole time at both Urarakas's and Yaomomo's reaction.
"I usually don't part take in those conversations-,"
"Also, if you were with someone over winter break, why aren't you with them now?" Mina's playful side dimmed down for her subtle perceptive side, staring sadly at Momo.
"Th-That's..." But Momo trailed off because Mina had brought up the one thing she wish she didn't.
"Yaomomo, if you tell us what happened, maybe we can help?" Mina suggested with a caring voice as Uraraka nodded along.
Momo held back a sniffle and wiped her eye before it became watery. She glanced out towards Mina's window before turning back at the two girls that were staring at her with concern, "It doesn't matter anymore... It was my fault anyway, even if I wish I could take it back." Her voice cracked at the end so she tried to add a giggle to show it didn't affect her but instead it was the sniffle she was trying to hold back.
Mina and Uraraka stared at her attempting to hold it in before Ashido spoke up, "That settles it then, right? You just have to tell him how you feel and how sorry you are!"
Uraraka agreed, also encouraging the friend that help her make up with Ashido, "She's right Yaomomo, it's obvious how much regret you have! Go for it!"
Momo was taken aback by their support, until she realized it was simply because they weren't aware that it was Izuku. "I a-appreciate it, really I do but trust me, it's better off being left in the past."
"Nope!" Mina protested. "You have to do it!"
"B-But Ashido," Momo really only wanted to be a good friend to both Izuku and Mina, that was enough for her.
"Nu-uh, no, ifs ands or buts, you're going for it!" Mina ordered with Uraraka nodding along, sitting next to her on the bed.
Momo shifted back and forth on the rolly chair she was sitting in. Her hands were limp on her lap as she said it, completely dejected. "But I don't want to lose what we have..." Referring to her friendship with Izuku and Mina. 'I would hate myself if I ever did that.'
"Yaomomo..."
"...Yaomomo"
Both Uraraka and Ashido were hurting for Momo, they never knew something like this weighed on Momo.
And then Toru burst into the room.
Momo quickly changed the subject to Uraraka and Ashido rekindling their friendship, with the both of them understanding that Momo didn't want to talk about it anymore, especially in front of someone like Toru, despite not being aware that she had heard Momo's conversation with Izuku the night before.
At the beach, both Mina and Momo were staring at each other as they were the last two remaining during the game of chicken fight, and it was the first interaction the two of them were having with each other since the party.
Uraraka stopped her training with Tokoyami when she noticed that it was Mina and Momo.
Izuku and Kirishima looked uneasy and were hesitating to approach each other to continue the game.
"Give it your best, you two!" Uraraka encouraged both her friends. She knew Momo never meant to get in between Izuku and Mina, it was just something stupid that happened at a party because they drank on an empty stomach. When she asked Momo about her intentions after Mina ran away at the party, it was Momo's lack of answer that told her everything, Momo was clearly upset at herself while also wanting to believe she didn't do anything wrong, yet simply not able to admit it to herself.
It was hearing Uraraka's words that got them to react.
"Here we go, Yaoyorozu!" Kirishima was able to understand Uraraka's sentiment without needing context because a true man can hear the voice of someone's heart!
"Concert when!" Izuku had the dumbest battle cry because he was thinking of when Jiro asked for his help to bring Mina and Momo together again as friends.
It was probably from the sudden rush, Uraraka's words, or how much they missed each other, but Mina and Momo were actually having fun as they wrestled each other with the tension evaporating.
In the end, both Mina and Momo flopped off of Izuku's and Kirishima's shoulders, hitting the water at the same time. As they both reemerged, they stared at each other, and for a moment it looked like the tension would return, but instead they both laughed splashing water at each other.
After it calmed down, Momo spoke.
"A-Ashido... Is it alright if we talked?"
"Y-Yeah, we probably should, huh Yaomomo?"
