Kim Possible: Invisible
BY LJ58

Kim yawned as she rolled over and flipped on her Kimmunicator when the chirping woke her.
"What's the sitch, Wade?"
"I know you aren't going to want to hear this, but it's Killigan again, Kim," the young genius told her.
"Man, will that guy just not quit," she moaned.
"Not everyone is smart enough to learn some lessons, Kim. That said, he's holding a group of journalists captive at the Royal Dornach course in Scotland, and threatening to blow them all up if the sponsors don't name him the winner."
"Do I have to ask?"
"They wouldn't even let him compete. He barely qualified, and when he lost his temper, he was thrown off the greens," Wade sighed.
"Of course," Kim grimaced.
"That said, you might want to try to sneak up on him this time. If he sees you coming, he might just set kill someone just to prove a point."
"Do I have to ask?"
"It's not….perfect, but I have upgraded your battle suit," he told her. "It's in the usual place," he told her. "Just….don't activate it until you need it, and only use it for five minutes at the most."
"So, it's unstable?"
"Not….unstable, but I'm unsure of the new power source I'm using on the stealth system, and I'd rather not push it until I get some more data on its reliability."
"Yet you sent it over," Kim asked.
"Because you are really going to need it to get close to this madman this time before he hurts someone. We have a local mediator stalling, but I think you know how volatile Killigan can be," Wade told her. "You might want to get going."
"On my way," she sighed and headed for her closet even as she switched off the Kimmunicator to open the delivery chute Wade had somehow built to send her new gear without anyone noticing. She pulled out the familiar white bundle and eyed it. Quickly pulling on the battlesuit she had used more than once in the past in tight spots, she headed for the Roth and hoped she got there in time.
Rather than waiting on Ron this time, she fired up the rebuilt Roth's new fusion engine, took off, and went suborbital to slingshot to Scotland so she came down faster than trying to fly there on a traditional flight path. Even as she spotted the eastern coast of the nation, she focused in on Dornoch and began to slow as she dropped altitude and came in behind cover so Killigan wouldn't spot her distinctive car more than a few people knew by now.
Landing in the parking lot, she shut down the Roth and ran for the country club's main greens where Killigan was holding his insane court. Even as she easily leaped the first barriers the local law had put up, she was hitting the suit's stealth controls. Before she hit the ground, running for the crowd of journalists tied up and surrounded by Henches, every reporter having an exploding golf ball taped inside their bulging jaws, she went invisible.
She felt an odd sensation but dismissed it as the suit began to shimmer, and she saw her body vanishing even as she raced toward the madman ranting at a camera left active at his command. He was so focused on the camera he didn't notice when the first of his men fell unconscious at her hands. Before he finished his usual babble, every Hench there was out cold, but so far they were hidden by the fact they had ringed the captives from the outside, and none were close to the mad golfer.
Kim smirked as the man only now turned, and declared, "So you will finally recognize my…. Where are my men," he frowned as he only then realized he couldn't see the thugs looming behind his captives.
In the same instant, Kim darted through the ranks of the hostages, grabbed his remote, and crushed it before it might be activated. Then she delivered a hard right to manic Scot's bearded jaw and sent him flying. One of the journalists whimpered as she now pulled the tape from his mouth, and removed the golf ball, saying, "Don't worry. I'm here to help."
"Who….?"
"Kim Possible, Mr. Jaryn," he told the known sports commentator. "I just snuck in this time to catch the loon by surprise."
Ten minutes later, with the law scooping up the rogue Scot and the captives free, she was still tapping at the suit's controls but still finding her stealth mode wouldn't shut down.
"Okay, Wade," she called him after she finally withdrew to her car. When she climbed in, to more than a few observer's shock her car suddenly vanished, too. "Something wonky is going on here."
"What's wrong…? Kim," he frowned as his monitor showed nothing. Absolutely nothing.
"What's wrong? I can't shut down my stealth mode, Wade. It worked great, and I surprised Killigan. Only now I can't turn it off. In fact, when I climbed in the Roth the whole car seems to have vanished, too."
"Okay. That's odd. Have you tried taking the suit off?"
"Of course not," she sputtered. "I'm not wearing anything under it," she hissed.
"Well, head home, and take it off. Obviously, there is still a glitch in it, so we'd better try to figure it out before you use it again."
"And the Roth," she asked uneasily.
"Apparently the stealth field your suit is radiating is enough to influence anything around your immediate presence. Or at least, that's my theory. Call me when you get back. We'll figure it out once you're home."
"Okay," Kim scowled, even if unseen. "On my way," she said and started the Roth's engine again, which made some people nearby turn and look around in confusion as the engine rumbled to life even if there was no obvious source for the sound.

Kim reached her house and shut off the Roth before she climbed out and headed inside the house. Even as she neared the door, she looked back to see the Roth slowly reappearing as if it was somehow materializing like some movie phantom.
"Weird," she muttered, and unlocked the door, and headed to her room. She reached her room and wasted no time in pulling off the apparently malfunctioning battle suit. She dropped it on the bed, and then held up her hands but could only frown.
Even as she eyed her hands, still invisible even to her now without the suit's special visor to show herself to her own eyes when cloaked. Then she looked over to see the suit was no longer invisible. Only she was.
"Oh, God, what is going on now," she muttered as she pulled on fresh clothes, and to her shock saw them shimmering and vanishing even as she dressed when she caught her non-reflection in the nearby mirror on her bureau.
One moment her clothing seemed to rise before her, and then they vanished as soon as they touched her.
"Wade," she yelled as she dove at the Kimmunicator now, noting it vanished, too when she touched it. "Something seriously weird is going on," she said.
"Haven't you taken off the suit," he frowned as she heard his voice, but again, without her suit's special visor, couldn't see anything.
"Wade, I took the suit off. See," she said and turned the unseen Kimmunicator toward the bed where the suit lay.
"But…."
"And I can't even see you. I can't see myself. Without the suit's visor, I can't see myself, or anything I touch. Even the Kimmunicator is invisible right now," she said, starting to panic.
"Okay, that is not right."
"You think," Kim screeched, and clutched the Kimmunicator in both hands. "Tell me you have a cure or something. How is this even happening? I can't stay invisible! I can't even see myself just now."
"Ah, you might want to put the suit back on, for now, so you can use the thermal visor," he told her.
"How does that help," she demanded.
"It at least lets you keep track of things, and yourself," he told her. "Then come over to my lab, and I'll scan you and suit, and see if I can figure out what went wrong," he told her. "I'm sure it's just a minor glitch, and I can….."
"A minor glitch? I'm invisible, Wade. I took off the suit, and I'm still invisible!"
"Calm down, Kim. I'm sure there is a logical explanation, and once I figure it out we'll have you back to normal in no time," he assured her.
"All right. All right. I'm on my way," she said and switched off the Kimmunicator, and then reached for the suit even as she tossed the Kimmunicator aside.
The suit began vanishing even as she pulled it on, but once on, and the auxiliary systems switched on, she could once more see again as the special visor allowed her to see herself and anything in her field of vision.
"This is so wrong," she groaned, noting the suit's controls still showed everything was in standby mode, and the stealth systems were showing inactive. Grabbing her Kimmunicator, she headed downstairs again and jumped back into the Roth to head for Wade's house, and his basement lab where he still operated out of for the most part.
He had some questions to answer because she sure wasn't going to be able to manage if she couldn't be seen. Stealth was for missions. Not everyday life.
Speeding down the street, not even thinking of anyone around her that turned to frown as they heard her engine but saw nothing as she passed. She quickly reached Wade's house and pulled up in the yard so no one accidentally ran into her. Then she saw the car reappear when she climbed out again.
So, nothing she touched stayed invisible. Just her.
Stalking to Wade's door, she banged on the door, and Wade's mother opened the door to smile out as she said, "May I help….? That's odd," she said as she realized no one was there.
Kim said nothing as she just slipped past the woman, and headed for Wade's basement lab where he spent most of his time of late. She all but skipped most of the stairs, and shoved the door open, and saw Wade bending over a computer monitor as he worked over something that seemed endless scrolling formulae.
"Well," Kim demanded. "Any answers yet," she asked as Wade jumped, looked around, his shock evident as he looked around.
"You're really still invisible."
"This stupid suit isn't even active now, but it's keeping me invisible," she complained. "So make with the answers, Wade, because this is really freaking me out here."
"Okay. Okay. Let's do this logically. First, I'm going to scan you with the suit. Then I need you to take it off and scan both you and it separately. Then I'll try to work on the control gauntlet and see if I can ascertain what went wrong."
"Just fix it," Kim demanded. "I can't do anything like this," she said. "I can't even see Ron, and we have a date tonight."
"Right. Right. Well, hopefully, this won't take long," he assured her and turned to activate something that began to hum on the far side of the room. "See the glowing dais? Step on it, please. It'll give me a full-body scan and let me see what's going on with you and the suit."
"Okay," she said, and while he didn't hear anything, her voice spoke from across the room when she told him, "Okay, now what."
"Just stand still. Starting the scans now. Full-spectrum analysis, and overview starting now," he said, and the dais began to hum louder as a bar rose on both sides of her as it slowly rose, lights on the bar flickering and humming as it went up, then down, and shut off.
"Okay, the analysis may take a few minutes, so while the program runs, let's take off the suit and test the controls. You say it reappears once you remove it."
"Yes. Only without the visor dealie, I can't see myself when it's off."
Wade walked over and lifted the lid of a small chest, and pulled out a pair of wraparound visors.
"The prototype I built into the suit," he told her. "It should help until we figure this out," he held out.
An unseen hand took the visor, and it immediately vanished.
"Interesting," he murmured as the visor went completely invisible in only seconds.
"Not to me," Kim spat, and suddenly the suit hit him in the face before it began to appear at his feet. "Now fix this," she complained.
He looked down at the garment, and quickly picked it up to carry over to the table where he began to use different devices to open the control gauntlet, hooking it up to various leads as he checked everything as he hummed over it.
"What?"
"Well, ah, it looks fine. No obvious shorts or malfunctions. Everything seems….perfect," Wade told her.
"This is not perfect," Kim's voice hissed.
"Okay. Okay. So, the suit is fine, let's see what is going on in your body that apparently reacted to the new power cells."
"New power cells? You never did say what you're using? Is that it? Some prototype that…did something….?"
"The systems are perfect, Kim. I assure you, everything looks fine. It's just…."
A nearby console chirped, and he went over to the computer he had been working on and brought up a blinking file. He had the feeling Kim was right behind him but said nothing as he scanned the data.
"Oh, no," he finally croaked.
"Wade," Kim's voice asked quietly now, sounding beyond subdued.
"Kim, I was using a new multi-phasic module as a power source, and apparently….your cells absorbed the radiated energies, and started a bio-energetic cascade in your body."
"Which means what?"
"It means….that multi-phasic energy is now inside your cells, and replenishing itself from your own metabolic energy so it creates a continual stealth loop."
"What," Kim choked.
"Don't worry. I'm sure we can fix this. I'll just need….time."
"Time! I have a date tonight," Kim sputtered.
Wade said nothing to that.
"Wade, where did you get this energy cell," she finally asked.
He grimaced and looked away.
"Where, Wade."
"Dr. Fyne. It was a collaboration with GJ," he told her.
"So, Dr. Fyne may have more data on it?"
"Maybe. For the time being, I have a few ideas I want to explore, but it'll take me time to figure out the best way to manage. Meanwhile, at least you can still do a lot of good like this. Imagine how easily you will catch your enemies off guard now," he said, trying to cheer her up.
"Not….helping."
"Well, I'll let you go….do whatever, and get to work. Meanwhile, you might want to talk to Dr. Director and let her know what's happened."
"You do it. I'm going to see Dr. Fyne. Then I have to try to explain this one to Ron. I can't believe…."
She said nothing more as his door slammed. He noted the battle suit had vanished from his work table, too, but only shook his head. Then he headed upstairs for a drink and a snack before he started work again.
He left the room and never saw his primary keyboard start to vanish as the clatter of keys sounded, and data on his monitor scrolled as someone unseen now sifted his files on his new battle suit.
