Some say that it isn't the legacy passed down through multiple generations that defines it, but what the current generation passes onto the next one. Regardless of what people say, legacies and the bonds of family sometimes goes beyond blood. But sometimes, it is through blood that eternal bonds are forged.
In the case of the Schnee Dust Company, or SDC for short, it was a legacy of harvesting and exporting Dust, raw naturally occurring elemental energy, usually in the form of crystals, its legacy was set to be passed down to one the youngest children of the Schnee-family, either Weiss or Whitley Schnee, and not their older sister, Winter Schnee. Unknown to the two twins, and most of the world of Remnant, the two weren't always just twins. The two of them were originally born as two members of a trio of triplets. The third sibling was named Jackie Schnee. She disappeared and was presumed dead at a young age in an accident in one of the Dust-mines.
The truth of the matter however, is stranger than what many would believe… much stranger…

Elsewhere, somewhere far far away from the world of Remnant, sat a young girl with naturally white hair on a massive throne in what appeared to be a throne room. The lower part of her pale face, covered by a gas mask of some kind. Equally pale eyelids closed as the girl breathed in a steady rhythmic pattern, masked cheek resting in a gloved hand, specifically the left hand, which actually had a glove, whereas the entirety of the right arm was wrapped in what appeared to be bandages. She was asleep.
In the girl's lap was the head of another female. But unlike the girl, who's lap her head laid in, she was completely petrified. Laying on the petrified girl's head was a cloth cap. The cap had a black and purple checkers pattern, a purple rim in the same shade of purple as the purple squares of the checkers pattern and a black screen. Attached to the front of the cap were a total of three brooches of varying design. The first brooch had the shape of a silvery snowflake, located at the center, the second one, the shape of a golden angelic wing, located on left side of the snowflake, and the third and final one being in the shape of a metallic blue lizard, located on the right side of the snowflake. What very few people knew was that the cap was one of the girls it belonged to most prized possessions, though if someone were to ask the girl for a why, she'd simply reply that she couldn't remember why the cap was precious to her, only that it was.
Worn over the white haired girl's left shoulder and her… interesting outfit was something that looked like a tattered hoodless cloak. This was actually something called a Blood Veil, it's specific model being called Blackblood Liberator. The bandages wrapped around her right arm were in fact a component of the Blood Veil. Speaking of the outfit… interesting was one way of describing it. Calling it modest though wasn't really possible. For starters, the outfit didn't have anything except for a white tiger patterned bikini top that covered the girl's upper body. Said bikini top was held together by a total of 6 metal rings. One at the front and at the center of the girl's chest, two on each side of the bikini top and the final sixth one on her back, right in between her shoulder blades. From each ring, except for the one in front which held the front of the bikini top together to protect the girl's modesty, elastic strings was stretched between the rings they were attached to and the ring on the back, ultimately keeping the bikini top together. In addition to the bikini top, the girl wore a pair of very short very dark blue shorts that had a few tears and holes that may or may not have been caused by bullets and/or similar projectiles. Some of which would have given people a fractured view of the girl's pale rear and reveal the possibility of her not wearing any kind of underwear… if she wasn't sitting on the throne and asleep. The final two articles of clothing that the girl was wearing was a pair of boots that definitely wasn't originally part of the same pair. The right boot reached all the way up to her knee whereas the left only reached halfway up her calf. The only thing that the boots had in common were the fact that they were made of leather and that they had shoelaces.
As the girl continued to simply sleep, a few things that she would probably be very embarrassed about if she actually knew about it, was starting to come out of her mouth. She was talking in her sleep.
"Mmm. Io. Yeah. Keep it up. It feels so good. *audible snore*." The likely contents of the girl's dream is probably best left unmentioned. The fact that her right hand ended up on the petrified girl with her head on the other girl's lap's head made it rather obvious that the petrified girl's name was Io and that the other girl was probably in love with the petrified girl. "Help me. Get me out. Help me. Get me out. WEISS!" At that shout as the girl's dream clearly switched to a nightmare (or possibly a fractured memory), the girl's eyes briefly flashed open before closing again, revealing that her eyes were each a different color. The right eye being a faded white, a telltale sign of blindness, and the left eye being a light blue color. While it couldn't be seen due to some of the girl's white hair and the mask covering the lower half of her face, a scar ran diagonally across her right eye, starting just above the eye and ending on her cheek, just above her jawbone.
Unknown to the girl, someone, or something, was watching her and her petrified companion. After about a few minutes, a blindingly bright light engulfed the entire throne room. Once the light faded, the room was completely void of its occupants and their belongings.
