Under normal circumstances, the Hufflepuff dormitory was usually considered homey, a home away from home. But due to the current circumstances, the members of the house of the loyal and hardworking were hesitant to enter the basement where the common room was located. The reason why they were hesitant to enter was because they could hear something unknown trotting around in there. Whatever it was, it was somewhat big and had most likely multiple legs.
As one of the upper year students was about to enter, they saw something white and pink of all colors rapidly move across the floor. Which caused two things to happen. The older student stepped back, and one of the first years stepped forward and kneeled down at the entrance. And that first year was none other than Enuma Gremory, who seemed to make some sort of clicking noise with her tongue.
"Cydaea. Come here girl." The redhead called out, as if calling out for a pet, before making another clicking noise. The other Hufflepuffs almost panicked when they saw what appeared to be a white and pink spider about the size of a soccer ball rapidly crawl across the floor towards the kneeling first year, climb up her arm… and start cuddling with the redhead. "There you are. How did you even get out of your cage? I can understand it's uncomfortable but still."
"The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter clearly said that you could only bring a cat, owl or toad with you to Hogwarts, and you brought a spider." Stated one of the other first years sorted into Hufflepuff.
"Taratect."
"What?" Asked the same student.
"Cydaea here is a Taratect. She's my Familiar. Don't worry, she's harmless… unless she bites! Then she's deadly! And I've seen what happens when she bites, it's fascinating."
"You call it fascinating, most people call it nasty." Deadpanned Shalltear, having also seen what happened when Cydaea bit something. "I couldn't eat for a week after witnessing what a bite from that eight legged terror could do."
"Humph. Cydaea is not an eight legged terror. She's adorable."
"You named her after a demon in a video game after witnessing what her bite did."
"So?"
"You know what? I give up. Just make sure that thing knows I'm not on the menu."
"She won't eat you and you know it. Besides, didn't you agree with me that she's adorable?"
"That was before witnessing that birdbrain get bitten in the nuts and suffer from a very agonizing case of necrosis!" Stated Shalltear rather loudly, which caused just about everyone to wince and the males to cross their legs and cover their family jewels.
"He was making Rias uncomfortable! He deserved it!"
"Maybe so, but that doesn't make it better."
"Humph. Whatever. Let's just get some sleep. I'm exhausted."
"On that, I agree."
