The screen opened up to Betty's car making it's way into her garage. Once inside, and once sure that the garage door was closed, Banner revealed himself to also being in the car.
She was then seen from the outside, looking around before she closed the curtains. The scene then turned to her handing him a small, ornate box, "It's our data. I got in there before they carted it all away." She told him as he opened it and took out what appeared to be a small flash-drive in a neck trap.
He looked like a miracle had just happened right in front of his eyes, "I hoped somewhere that it might tell us something someday." She finished.
"Way to go, Betty!" Yang said excitedly.
"She really came through. He really has a chance now!" Blake said happily.
"While I can't condone hiding military information like this, it's far better off in Bruce's hands than in Ross'." Winter stated.
Banner then looked like he had just thought of something he had to know, "Does the General know that you have this?"
"No, I don't think so.", she answered, "I haven't spoken to him in a couple of years."
"You have to be sure." Banner pressed.
"I understand his paranoia, but he's asking too much of her." Ozpin stated.
"It is a shame she has to be so secretive with her own father, but I can understand, after all his actions have done to put a wedge between them." Penny said sadly.
"With a father who abuses his power and authority like that, I'm amazed she hasn't completely cut ties with him." Weiss said, being familiar with having cut ties from her father.
"Bruce, I don't understand why we can't just go in there together and talk to him." Betty asked, confused as to why he was being so cautious and paranoid.
Banner then went on to explain why that was a bad idea, "He told me what he wanted to do. He wants it out of me. He wants to dissect it so that he can replicate it." As he explained, her face grew with both shock and horror, "He wants to make it a weapon."
"He wants to weaponize that creature!? Is he insane?!" Ironwood shouted in disbelief.
"There's no way. Bruce is a genius and he can barely control that thing. If they had any more than one, they'd be leveling whole kingdoms!" Qrow said in horror.
"How could they possibly permit him to weaponize something that dangerous?! This is a project that should be shut down immediately and indefinitely. The only thing I see coming from this is danger to the civilian population and unprecedented loss of life." Glynda stated angrily.
The scene then changed to an antique looking e-lock being deactivated via both access card and passcode input, which then changed to the inside of a vault of sorts, with the General in-question looking inside through a narrow window.
Upon seeing his face, many in the audience gave him a mighty death-glare, though none were as pronounced as those given by both Katana and Vein. With Katana barely able to maintain her human form and Vein's eyes turning an eerie glowing purple, with a fanged mask forming over his mouth and a feral like, almost animalistic growl coming from his throat.
He then opened the door, entering what was revealed to be a cryogenics vault. He looked around for a bit, until he focused his attention on a specific barrel. Said barrel was then revealed to be a Stark Industries specialty product meant for medical products and similar artefacts. After he was done opening the capsule, he then used a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the serum that was being kept inside, all the while he had a small glint of madness in his narrowed eyes.
The scene then changed back to Betty's house, which then went to Banner as he was finishing getting the couch-bed ready for the night. As he was coming out of the room to look for something, he ran into Betty, who was giving him some blankets and a razor, causing the whole atmosphere to get awkward and uneasy.
"Come on, say something. ANYTHING!" Shouted Nora to the screen, as if trying to get them to listen to her. She would've continued, had Ren not placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Nora, it's not that easy." He said to her.
"But why not?" she asked while whining.
It was Blake who answered, "Because they don't know what to say." She began to explain, her voice growing somber while doing so, "After the accident that led to the 'birth' of the Hulk, along with Ross's interference, it's been years since they've even heard a thing about one another, and that's a long time to be away each other. As the previous scene had shown, a lot can happen in a few years, so much so that by now they probably feel like they might as well be different people entirely." She then looked down, sadness could clearly be seen in her eyes, "Even after reuniting, they should basically be strangers by now and, even though they want to, they know that getting things back to how they were, especially with what little time they have left together, will be nothing short of impossible."
When she finished her explanation, the atmosphere of the room became just as somber as Blake felt, their hearts went out for the two lovers who couldn't be together, while at the same time their anger and hatred for General Ross, the one responsible for ruining their relationship, only seemed to grow.
"Listen, I should leave early." He began, "As early as I can."
"Really?" she asked, "You can't stay at all?"
"I want to," he admitted, "but it's just not safe for me to be here."
She understood, but still looked like she was sad that he had to leave, just as they had managed to reunite after all these years, and Bruce was the same.
Once again, the room was filled with the sniffles of the children, who were saddened by the cruelty that had befallen the two, while the adult kept it together, but still sent the tragic couple their heart-felt condolences.
"If I could borrow some cash..." he began.
"Of course." she replied before he could finish.
"I need to take a bus." He then got out.
"Well, at least let me take you to the station." she pleaded.
"Okay." he allowed it.
"No... They've just reunited. Now by tomorrow, they'll lose each other again." Velvet sobbed.
"I thought superheroes were supposed to be nothing but big, epic fights and joking around like Tony. This may be one of the saddest things I've seen since those Grimm destroyed my favorite clothing store." Coco said sadly.
"Miss Adel, you know I fixed the boutique. And that can hardly compare to this man's constant turmoil, especially when considering how dangerous stress is for him." Glynda told her.
Things went back to being quiet and awkward after that.
"You have everything you need?" she then asked.
"Yeah" he confirmed.
Things went quiet once again. They both looked like they wanted to continue talking and catch up with one another, but they couldn't figure out what to say to each other.
"Goodnight" he ended any further conversations, after it was made clear that they couldn't strike up anything further from one another.
"Goodnight. I hope that you get some rest." After she said her farewells, though a bit reluctantly, she left for her room for the night. Bruce too was a bit reluctant, but he eventually closed the door and retreated for the night as well.
The scene then kept changing to a overhead view of both Bruce and Betty, each in their night clothes and staring at the celling. As the scene kept changing from showing both characters, it was shown that they were both dealing with their unexpected reunion, as well as their approaching separation, differently. Betty kept looking like she was under turmoil, like she were silently praying to any divine entity to bring forth a miracle or at least give her an answer, while Bruce just remain calm, as though he already knew how things will end and was steeling himself for the inevitable.
Nora and Ruby were openly crying by now, the scene was just too sad for them. Though they were handling it better that those two, all of the students were now shedding tears for the tragic couple and, though they were better at keeping it together when compared to their younger counterparts, the adult felt the same way. It took a while, but once everyone calmed down, the movie began once again.
In a dark and quiet and spartan room, a door with the symbol for biohazard was opened, letting in a shirtless Blonski, who then looked over to a restraining table, designed to ensure that the person placed there would be unable to move.
"We're giving you a very low dose only." Explained General Ross, who was then revealed to be in the same room as him, revealed to be the base's 'BIO UNIT' by another door next to the window he was leaning against, along with a pair of doctor and his assistant. "I need you sharp out there and disciplined." He told Blonski.
"Then don't give him the serum!" Ruby cried out fearfully.
"Under normal circumstances, I'd agree with your, Ruby, but this Hulk is far from a normal enemy. They'll need every advantage they can get." Winter told her.
"Even if the serum is successful, I have a bad feeling they're going to regret this." Ren said suspiciously.
He continued as the camera then began to focus on them, "First sign of any side effect..." He warned, "...we stop and you're off team until you straighten out."
"Agreed?" He asked.
"Agreed." Blonski accepted.
"Well, at least they're taking some level of precaution." Glynda said.
"Yeah, but does Blonski seem like the kind of guy who will admit it if something starts going wrong?" Jaune asked.
"Of course. He's a highly decorated soldier." Ironwood reminded Jaune.
"Yes, general. But he does seem to be in it for the action much more than for his duty. It feels like if there's a danger of him being kicked off the mission, he'll do whatever it takes to hide them." Pyrrha agreed with her partner.
Ross then glanced at the doctor, who then proceeded to explain the procedure, "You'll get two separate infusions. One into the deep muscle..." Blonsky nodded in understanding as the doctor continued, "...one into the bone-marrow centers." The doctor was then given a close-up, "Bone ones are going to hurt."
"I don't like this." Nora said nervously.
"I'm with you for once, Nora." Blake agreed, now perched on the back of the couch behind Yang as the blonde rolled her eyes, but smiled.
"I get you're creeped out, Blake, but you're really not helping your image of trying NOT to be a cat girl." Velvet told her. Still, she was definitely disturbed as well, having hopped into Coco's lap.
The scene changed to show Blonsky sitting down as the doctor and his assistant inject the first dose of the serum via his neck. The procedure was painful, but Blonski withstood it.
The scene then changed to show him strapped to the table and rendered immobile. The doctor was then shown to be using a hole in the table to inject the rest of the serum into the bone-marrows via his back, using a longer needle to penetrate his spine.
Weiss became green at this, grabbing and holding onto a vomit bucket as Winter rubbed her sister's back to try and ease her sickness. "Thank goodness we don't have to go through procedures like that to become Huntresses." Weiss said.
"I'd still totally do it. I'd take it like a champ, too!" Yang declared.
"If champs cry like babies and hug their teddy bears so hard the head pops off." Qrow said, remembering when he had to take the girls to get their booster shots due to Tai still being in a stupor.
As warned, the pain was at least double when compared to the first dose, causing him to let out a loud groan, but he still persevered. While this was happening, Ross never removed the soldier from his sight.
There was a loud pop, and Blonski started to breath easier, wondering what was going to happen next.
The scene now changed to that of Betty's house the next morning, with a kid playing hopscotch on the sidewalk.
Betty was then shown in her day clothes, looking around to see if anyone was looking. While behind her, a freshened up and shaved Banner was ready to leave for the next town. Noticing him looking at her, she turned just as he began to approach her.
"Is everything okay?" she asked.
After looking around for a bit he answered, "I think so."
The camera then shifted to show them walking across the campus park, the main building was shown at the distance, along with the signs of incoming rain.
As they walked side-by-side, with a smile on her face she dragged him to her, "Come here."
"What?"
"I just want to do this." the said as she un-tugged his shirt, with Banner looking a bit off guard, "It's better like that."
"Yeah" he got out.
With a smile still on her face, she took his cap off and fixed his hair, "It's too tight, huh?" he guessed.
"Yeah, a little." she confirmed.
"Okay" he accepted. They then just stood there and stared into each others eyes, apparently lost in their own little world.
Before anything could happen though, Banner noticed something.
A soldier making his way towards them by the halls.
"What?" Betty asked.
He looked another way and saw another soldier coming via the park garden.
"Oh, no! They found him!" Velvet cried out worriedly.
"Oh! That reminds me. Velvet, Blake, you're going to want these." Katana said, giving both girls two pairs of earplugs. Both girls looked concerned and quickly slipped the earphones in.
"Oh, this is gonna be good!" Nora said excitedly.
"They're here." he said, she tried to look before he stopped her, "Betty, look at me, look at me." She tried to argue, but he wouldn't let her, "You have to go far away from me. Don't argue with me, just go, go."
He then ran, just as armored Humvees arrived on the scene.
She just stood there in shock, watching him run, just as the Humvees pushed aside two parked cars that got in their way. She looked on for a bit, before she too began to run, just as the Humvees were then followed by a whole platoon of foot soldiers.
An APC had just arrived, with a certain General inside making demands, "We'd have had snipers on target in three more minutes. I wanna know who jumped the gun." He snapped.
"Yet another poorly coordinated stunt that's likely to get more of his men killed." Winter criticized.
"Although, to be fair, those were very minor mistakes. Bruce was very observant to notice them out of seemingly nowhere." Glynda stated.
"When you're on the run for so long, you become aware of anything that seems suspicious or out of place." Blake explained, her experience in the White Fang giving her a similar alertness, although it could occasionally border on the lines of paranoia.
Banner was show running, trying to make his way into the neighboring forest. Then Blonski revealed himself along with a few others coming out of the trees, "He's heading 270."
When he saw them running towards him, he stopped and bolted the other way.
As he ran, more vehicles and soldiers began to fill in the campus grounds. Blonski was shown running amongst them, the effects of the serum already showing as he began outrunning them.
"Blonski, not yet!" Ross ordered.
"Sir". He stopped upon command and signal the others to stop as well, they were panting quite a bit while he looked like he hadn't even broken a sweat. "Look alive, this could get interesting." He instructed before moving on.
"I know I shouldn't be, but I'm impressed. Assuming these men are all around the same level of fitness, which they should be, given that they're the elite units, Blonsky is at least twice as fast as them. And he hasn't seem to have lost any form of coordination." Ironwood said.
"However, he's only recently been given the serum. I question if it's too soon to deploy him." Ozpin countered.
"He wants this fight. He's hoping it's gonna go wrong. That's what he meant when he said it could get interesting." Qrow theorized.
Banner was then shown making his way inside one of the buildings, with a small squad of soldier right on his tail.
The scene then changed to a Humvee making its way into the area, with Betty following right after it.
Banner was then shown entering an running across a library, making his way straight towards the stairs, while ignoring a student's request to stop. As he entered the second floor the soldier began to fill into the room, also ignoring the student, who gasped at their presence.
"Yeah, that's basically how we felt when Atlas military stuff started showing up at our school." Yang said, nodding.
"I had to stop Professor Port from running out with his Blunderbuss, declaring Atlas had come for war against HIM." Coco laughed.
Banner was shown still running, before he turned to hide behind a bookcase. He then took out the Flash drive from his pocket, just as the soldiers were shown making their way up the stairs.
Banner was shown with the flash drive in his fingers, before the scene focused on him steeling himself for something that could only be described as either madness or desperation.
He swallowed the drive.
"Oh, gross! I'm gonna be sick!" Weiss shrieked.
"Eww! Why is he doing that!?" Ruby cried out.
"He likely knows he's about to be discovered and may have to enter a fight. If that happens, the only safe place for the drive is... inside him." Ren said uncomfortably.
"Oh, man. That is not gonna be fun coming out." Jaune groaned.
"Oh! Jaune, why!?" Pyrrha groaned in disgust.
The scene then turned back towards Betty, who stopped to look at the sight of many soldiers and armored vehicles surrounding the campus. She then turned and saw Ross's APC.
Banner had just finished swallowing the drive and made his way out of the library, just as a soldier arrived to see him, "I got him."
Betty was then shown getting in front of General Ross's APC, "Stop". It stopped before she could get run over.
"I know you're in there." She called out, Ross was listening, a the same look he had in Rio was on his face. "General, please." she begged.
Inside, Ross was contemplating what to do, not even his aide knew how to respond.
And then she yelled, "DAD!"
Having heard enough, he left the confines of the APC. When she saw him, she quickly went up to him and begged, "Dad, please don't do this."
He just grabbed her, "You can't see this clearly." He then proceeded to drag her with him, "Now, get inside."
Penny frowned at this. She was reminded of times she wanted to do something or go somewhere, only for her father to hold her back. "I understand he wants to keep her safe, but he's doing so at the cost of her happiness." She said sympathetically.
"It also doesn't help that he wants to dissect her boyfriend." Blake said dryly.
"There he is." one of the soldiers next to them called out, causing them both to pause and turn around, were they then saw him running across a glass overpass. "Target is in the overpass. We have visual."
Looking at him from their position, Ross began to bark orders, "Do not engage. Repeat, do not engage."
Just as he was reaching the other side, he was stopped by the soldiers who went in, blocking the exit. He then tried to get back the other way, but it was blocked as well. "He's locked in."
He looked to the side and saw two soldiers with rifles aiming straight at him.
"He's got nowhere to go now." Qrow said worriedly.
"No! Bruce! He just wants to get rid of the Hulk and be normal! Why can't they let him!?" Ruby cried.
"Because general Ross only sees him as a weapon and a threat to his daughter instead of a person. Even though he's more human than Ross at this point." Pyrrha said darkly. They had rarely seen this level of hatred from the Mistral champion. Which spoke levels to how terrible Ross is.
He just stood there in the middle of the overpass, looking down to Ross and Betty, who was worried about what might happen, 'till Ross gave the next order.
"Put two canisters in there with him." He commanded over the radio, and not two seconds later two soldiers with grenade launchers shot the canisters into the overpass with Banner, and as it began to fill with gas he took his shirt off to try and mitigate its effects.
"The one time one of his operations goes decently and I wish it didn't. I don't know why." Ironwood said.
"Because you understand this is wrong, James. Bruce doesn't deserve what's being done to him and no one, especially Ross, should be able to have a version of the Hulk as a weapon. Eve Bruce doesn't want it, but it's a curse he HAS to bear." Glynda assured her old friend.
As he looked for a way out, he turned to Betty's direction. Not able to stand it any longer, she ran past the General and made her way to Banner.
"Get her back here." he ordered.
In the overpass, Banner saw Betty running towards him, with two soldiers in pursuit, one of which she elbowed in the nose.
"Oh, yeah! Betty's got some bite to her!" Nora cheered.
"Not a spoiled daddy's girl. I like that." Coco praised.
"Was that a jab at me or my sister?" Weiss questioned, both Schnee's raising an eyebrow.
"No, I know both of you can fight. But her being a general's daughter and how protective of her he seems, you'd think he'd always have her followed by security or something so she'd never have to fight herself." Coco explained.
He disregarded the shirt in favor of getting a better look through the glass, his face twisting in concern. When the other one managed to tackle her into the ground, he let out an incomprehensible shout with his eyes turning green, before moving away and getting consumed by the gas.
Everyone just stared at where he was, waiting for what would come next. And they were answered by a hand smacking into the glass and cracking it. Blonski looked eager.
"Well, at least he got his wish." despite sounding calm and aloof, Ren was feeling uneasy about the whole thing. Especially when he has seen just how much damage the Hulk could dish out.
"AW YEAH! Round two baby!" Cheered and enthusiastic Yang.
"YEAH! Break their legs! In fact, BREAK THEIR EVERYTHING!" Nora also joined in, eager to see another of the Hulk's famed rampages.
The hand, and arm began to bulge and grow, then the scene changed to show Banner transforming within the smoke, everything but his pants (just barely) were ripped off by the strain of his rapid growth. The grenadiers looked uneasy and lowered their weapons.
The figure of the transformed Banner was seen through the smoke before, with his two enlarged fists, smashed through the walls and beams. The soldiers below ran, but one of them was hit by one of the incoming, spinning beams.
Everybody cringed at this, with the younger half (as horrible as it may sound, they'll admit) glad that the gruesome death wasn't fully displayed, while the adult, especially those in the military, gave the soldier their condolences.
"Not even a full minute went by and we already have a casualty." said Velvet, who looked jus about ready to cry for the unfortunate soldier.
"I understand your feelings Miss Scarlantina, but as much as I may not like it, the Hulk is just too powerful and unpredictable of an opponent to fully prepare for. Expecting things to go smoothly is simply too much to ask for." said Winter.
"Now she'll see." Ross said quietly.
Many in the audience were taken off-guard by this, wondering what the General meant by it.
With a throaty yell, Hulk jumped down from the overpass, and once he landed he stood up and growled at all the soldiers present.
Blonsky looked eager for the rematch, Ross just stood in waiting for what's to come, and Betty was in shocked surprise, even as the soldiers began to take her away.
The Hulk reared back and let out a fierce roar that left even the soldier whose nose Betty broke standing speechless.
"No matter how many times I hear it, that roar always seems to cause a shiver to run down my spine." Qrow got out, something that everyone in the room wholeheartedly agreed to.
Blonski move into position, while Ross began to give out orders, "Alpha Team.", the Hulk began to approach with and angry snarl.
"Let him have all of it." as soon as he said that, a squad of soldiers opened fire.
The bullets did nothing other than annoy him, but they got his attention and now he was heading their way, "Light him up. Come on, light him up." Hulk just kept running towards them, completely shrugging off the hail of bullets.
"Come on! You know that those won't work on him, all you'll manage to accomplish is make him angrier." Pyrrha got out, worried about the soldier who might as well be throwing spitballs at a Gorilla.
"Stop firing and get out of there!" Ruby chipped in, worried about the men who only seemed to be making the situation worsen by the minute.
"Where are the .50 cals? Move your asses." Ross ordered, just as a Humvee with said gun attached to the roof came in and made its way to the battle. Betty and her captors looking on with their mouths still opened.
The .50 caliber bullets, though still not enough, were more effective, as the Hulk made a slight deviation to Shoulder Bump the offending vehicle unto its back. Another arrived on the scene, with Betty beginning to struggle against her captors while Ross just kept looking on.
The Hulk just kept getting closer to Alpha Team, just as the Humvee joined the fray. It too began to fire, but the Hulk got here first and stomped on the vehicle, rendering it useless. He began to further destroy it via smashing it against the piece of metal art to dismantle it, shocking Betty at the sheer brutality of it all, which only got worse when he ripped the engine out and threw it at the army, hitting a parked Humvee, which only pushed it into another Humvee, which ended with the two of them exploding.
"UNACCEPTABLE! Those are your men, YOUR MEN, practically getting slaughtered out there and you're just standing there doing NOTHING?!" Ironwood was furious, the more men he saw being thrown to the slaughter over Ross' grudge with Banner, the more accepting of Vein's earlier promise of having the man spending some time with 'BERTHA' he became.
"Unforgivable!" Winter practically hissed this as she too was beginning to want for Ross to have said Blowtorch where the sun doesn't shine, even wishing to be the one who would do the deed.
Two students somehow managed to arrive at the scene and, shocked by what they were witnessing, began to record the whole confrontation.
"Well, so much for keeping things quiet and 'off the books'." Coco got out.
"To be fair, a considerable portion of the military practically tearing apart school grounds fighting a green-behemoth, and losing, if THAT doesn't piques someone's curiosity, then nothing will." Qrow explained.
"Add in the fact that just about all of their available forces are presently trying to keep said behemoth within school grounds and you'll find it excusable if one or two outsiders manage to slip in when very few are looking." Ozpin further elaborated.
Seeing that now was the time, Ross gave the order, "Blonski, now you're up."
"Yes, sir." he acknowledged while tossing away his rifle in favor of a grenade launcher, "Cover me." He then began to approach the Hulk while Ross and Betty looked on.
As he got closer he began to fire, which got the Hulk's attention, who then grabbed a piece of the ruined sculpture to use as a shield. He just bare managed to block one shot before he ripped out a new piece of impromptu equipment, enough to block Blonski's shot with both 'shields' and later snarl at the little man.
"Remember me?" Blonski taunted before firing his last shot, which dazed the Hulk enough for him to use the guy as a spring board to land on the ruined statue and later proceeded to unload his handgun's clip un the Hulk's face. Said action only made him angrier, leading him to strike at Blonski, who, in a display of acrobatics not usually suitable for one his age, managed to dodge the attach. He kept firing until he ran out and had to toss the gun away, just in time to further show off his skills as he dodged the Hulk's attempts to cleave him in half.
"My God, he's doing it." a deeply impressed Ross got out.
Just like Ross, the Remnentians were also incredibly impressed by Blonsky's performance.
"Damn." Qrow finally got out. "If that's what a SMALL dose can do to a guy like him, then I wonder what wonders it can do for me?" he then asked.
Before anyone else could answer, Vein let out his two cents, "As someone who went through something similar, all I can say is, 'Not worth it'." he said this in complete and total seriousness, one that got Katana to look at him worriedly as he rarely gets this serious.
The others thought over his words, until Pyrrha remembered what he said at the beginning of the movie, "That's how it happened. This is how you became what you are."
The others looked at her in surprise, before they once again looked back at the vampire, who just shrugged his shoulders, "You're half right. Something else was placed inside me, but the overall process was essentially the same." he conceded.
Now that they knew how he became what he was, they couldn't help but worry about what would become of Blonsky, now that he had received similar treatment.
Blonski just barely managed to gain some distance from the Hulk before he could try to cleave him in half again.
"Move him towards the cannons." At Ross command, he bolted as fast as he could with the Hulk right on his tail, just as the weaponized vehicles from the schematics at the beginning of the movie made their appearance.
Seeing the cannons lifted Ruby's mood, "Hey! It's the cannons from the first part of the movie!" she pointed out, excited about both moving on from dark and depressive topics and finally seeing what these new weapons can do.
"Indeed you are right, Miss Rose." Ironwood got out, with a pen and paper already out to take notes, the same could be said about Winter. Penny had her eyes set to record, believing that her father would like to have a look at this as well.
"As fun as witnessing new weapons in action is, I have to ask... Why are you two wearing wearing headphones?" Jaune got out, causing everyone to look and see that, as he said, Vein and Katana were wearing headphone, similar to the ones worn by Blake and Velvet.
"Nothing you have to worry about." Katana just brushed off flippantly.
"Just know that these particular weapons have quite the 'boom' to them." Vein further elaborated. Seeing as they weren't getting anymore out of them, they just decided to keep watching.
Once they got into position, some men with headphones disembarked from the passenger eat and began to prep the cannons. "Do it, now." Blonski got out as he and the Hulk approached.
The cannons fired, but instead of the usual cannonballs or even bullets what was shot out could only be described as a series of high-frequency soundwaves so powerful that one could see the air warp and distort in the general direction they were firing. Blonski tried to jump out of the way, but was still caught and pushed by the blast, which caused him to cover his ears in pain of the glancing shot once he landed, said blast also hit the Hulk and caused him to stagger to a halt.
Just about everyone had their hands on their ears once the assault began, with the faunus in the room thanking their host for the earphones, shuddering at what might've happened had they not had these on.
"SO LOUD!" Nora eloquently stated the obvious.
"WAY to state the obvious." remarked Weiss, removing her hands from her ears like the rest once they got used to the sound.
"AWESOME!" only to place them again thanks to the rose-themed huntress. "Sonic Cannons that blast compressed soundwaves instead of bullets." she marveled at the sight with stars in her eyes.
"If those compressed soundwaves can have their frequencies altered to any wavelength, then the possible applications for such devices would be infinite." Penny analyzed the footage, once her audio receptors (ears) were reconfigured (fixed from Ruby's excited squeal).
"And if they're either kept away from Faunus or with proper equipment." Blake got out, even with the earphones (which she and Velvet will have to thank Katana for) the blast from the cannons was so loud that she and the bunny girl were still affected by it.
"I agree, once we get back I'll have R&D working on noise dampening headwear alongside the cannons and other similar equipment." Ironwood declared, remembering one of his ACE OP's members who also had sensitive hearing, despite only having a tail instead of ears.
The assault continued 'till the Hulk was on his knees and clutching his ears in a futile attempt to block out the noise, all the while Ross and Blonski, once he had recovered, looked on.
Unable to take more of this, Betty approached the General and begged, "Please, please, please, no, please."
But Ross still didn't listen and pushed her off with a small growl in his voice, "Get her back."
But she still protested, "You're killing him! Stop! Get off of me!"
"Come on! Listen to her!" Velvet pleaded.
"Even with aura, there's no way for any creature to be able to withstand such an assault for long." Pyrrha joined in, worried about Bruce/Hulk.
"I'm afraid that's just not possible Miss Nikos, Miss Scarlatina." Glynda got out with a sigh of disappointment, all the while glaring at the General whenever he appeared.
"Like our hosts have been telling us since the beginning, Ross is quite close to both the mission and the Hulk." Ozpin decided to further explain, all the while he too glared at the man in question, "He has made it his life's goal to best the creature and he'll see it through to the end."
"As much as I may not like it, I too have seen my fair share of similar people in my travels and missions." Despite his somber voice, Qrow's glare at the General never lost it's intensity, "Guys like this are just soo far deep into it that nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will get in their way."
"You could say that it's similar to your Geist Grimm: the man's been 'possessed' by his obsession and it's hold on him is so strong that the only way to break it is if something INTENSE were to happen and leave a considerable impact on his outlook on life." Vein said, the fanged mask present and eyes glowing at such an intensity that it's a miracle that they haven't burst into flames.
"And what exactly are the chances of that happening?" asked Weiss, too angry at Ross to even question about the mask.
"So small, that even IF it were to happen, the 'spell' would only last for a small while before he would return to his antics." answered Katana, equally as pissed off at Ross as her friend and barely maintaining her human form, already knowing the amount of grief that Ross will bring later down the road.
And with that, everyone in the room, even Penny, who didn't think she had it in her, found themselves with their hatred for the General Reaching it's maximum.
The Hulk looked in her direction, somehow still able to make out something from within the barrage of sound assaulting him. He then surprised everyone when he, mustering as much strength as he could, tried to get back up as he approached the discarded make-shift weapons.
Seeing this, the audience completely forgot about their rage towards Ross and brought their focus back to the Hulk.
Once in his hands, he just barely managed to get up before pushing one of the 'shields' forward to mitigate the effects of the blasts. Ross just looked on with shock, mouth left hanging agape.
They weren't the only ones, as all Remnentians were also left with their jaws on the floor, left completely baffled, amazed and entranced by the miracle they were witnessing.
Hulk then reared his left arm back and threw the 'shield' like a frisbee at one of the cannons, slicing it and the Humvee clean in half right down the middle. He then, mustering what little he could scrounge up, leaped right on top of the other cannon, flattening it like a pancake while disabling the weapon.
When the last cannon was destroyed, everyone in the room exploded in cheer. Everyone was hugging each other, with Pyrrha and Nora even going the extra mile to give their respected partner a kiss in the cheek, but the boys in question were too caught up in what they had seen to notice.
"Where's the gunship?" Ross demanded. Said gunship was then shown making its way to the area.
"Way to ruin the moment Jackass." Qrow got out, like he said, the moment was ruined when Ross opened his mouth.
"As much as I would like to chastise you for your use of language, I can't help but feel like he deserves something worse." Said Glynda.
Just about everyone on the room, even the pure and non-vulgar of the audience (Penny, Ruby, Pyrrha, Ren, Weiss, Winter and even Ozpin) nodded in agreement.
Picking up a discarded rifle from a dead soldier, Blonski fired on the Hulk, who stopped and lazily blocked all shots with his remaining 'shield'. When he ran out, he tossed the gun aside and approached until they were both face-to-face. "Is that it?" he taunted.
"Blonski, pull back now." the General ordered.
"Pull back". Blonski heard, but he just removed the earpiece. The Hulk was panting, and clearly looked not in the mood.
"As much as I may not like it, Ross is right! The plan failed, the cannons are destroyed, the Hulk is still capable of fighting, and he even looks like a bomb just waiting for something to set him off! Pull back, soldier! PULL BACK!" Ironwood yelled at Blonsky, who seemed to have had lost his marbles if he's trying to confront the Hulk without any special assistance.
"He's right, you've lost, get out of there!" Winter also got out, almost pleading for the soldier to listen to reason.
"Is that all you got?" he just continued to taunt.
Everyone just face-palmed, seeing as Blonsky had indeed lost his marbles.
The Hulk growled, clearly having enough, and literally kicked Blonski away. Said kick sent the Speck-Ops commando brutally tumbling along until he harshly face-planted on a tree. He then fell back, presumably dead.
Everyone cringed at this, even Nora, despite her asking for it.
"From the looks and sound of it, that ONE kick pretty much destroyed EVERY bone in his body. If he's not dead, then he'll either wont have much time left or he'll be confined to a hospital bed for the rest of his life, with a few months, if not years, worth of coma induced sleep as a result of severe trauma." Penny explained as simply as she could, the scene just so awful that she thought it better to not go into the full details.
If the present image wasn't bad enough for them, Penny's rather blunt assessment of his condition left the younger audience looking a little green, but no one vomited (miraculously). The adults were only sadden by the fact that such a fate befell a man who seemed like he still had much to accomplish, but now couldn't even go to the bathroom without help, all because he didn't know when to throw in the towel.
"Fool." Ozpin and Ironwood quietly muttered at the same time.
After a second or two, Ross called out, "Fall back." and everyone but Betty obeyed, "Find cover."
Sampson was then shown making his way to the campus, arriving just as the fight was over. "Betty!"
As everyone else was making their way out of the area, Betty just calmly approached the Hulk, presumably 'ranting' about Blonski until he noticed her and approached. She just stood there, panting and looking at him in awe.
"Fire, goddamn it." Ross ordered on the radio.
"Bruce." she addressed softly. Still disgruntled, the Hulk seemed to calm down and the fire in his eyes seemed to lose a bit of it's intensity.
This got everyone's attention, just a moment ago the Hulk looked like he would snap at anyone who approached him like he did with Blonsky, but now (if one were to look beyond the green muscle and the piece of metal still being carried in his arm) he almost looked docile.
After a moment of thinking, Blake can to a realization, "He's still there." It was quiet, but everyone heard it all the same, "Even when he's not in control, Banner's still in there, a part of the Hulk, all the way to its heart."
Upon hearing this, the audience was left in shock realization. She was right, Banner was still there, and his feelings for Betty were still present. So strong that they can be seen even through the Hulk's rage filled green hide.
The atmosphere in the room became quite somber once again, with the adults looking on with soft eyes and the younger audience sniffing a bit. Once again, only the more emotionally opened (Penny, Ruby an Nora) were bawling their eyes out.
After the waterworks were done the movie continued.
Before anything else could be done, the gunship had just arrived on the scene and, once the Hulk was on its sights, began to fire. Made aware of the danger, the Hulk covered Betty with it's own body to protect her.
"NO!" Everyone got out worried about Betty.
"Stop firing!" Ross demanded as he made his way towards them.
Having had enough, the Hulk threw his last remaining 'shield' at the gunship, which struck its main rotor and took it down. Seeing as there was no time to get her to safety, he brought her close to him again and shielded her just as the gunship's wrecked remain enveloped them both.
"NO!" Ross got out, his face that of fear and worry.
"BETTY" Everyone exclaimed in worry.
The fire raged strongly, just as it began to rain. Sampson laid there, looking in shock. Ross and the others also stayed there, looking at the fire.
Just then, the Hulk stood up from within the wreckage, Betty hanging limply in his arms, dead or unconscious is yet to be revealed.
Though still worried, everyone let go a sigh of relief, after a moment they returned to glaring at Ross.
Ross was shocked beyond believe, eyes wide and mouth semi-opened. The camera then closed in on Betty, then moved to the Hulk, who looked down onto Betty before he then glared at Ross and snarled. Ross just stood there, the same expression, the only change was him shaking a bit.
The Hulk then walked backwards with Betty in his arms, both disappearing into the smoke.
"Wow, great job, Ross. You almost got your own daughter killed." Yang growled.
"He's entirely too close to this mission. He needs to be removed and replaced immediately. And preferably demoted, if not completely discharged." Ironwood declared.
The scene then transitioned into the outside of Betty's house. The rain not stopping, if only growing a bit in intensity. Sampson was sitting on the ledge of he balcony, only turning to see two soldiers leaving with what's presumed to be Betty's stuff.
"And, once again, why am I not surprised that they're taking all of her stuff the moment she leaves." scoffed Weiss.
"As much as I wish that I could agree with you, I can't." Winter got out, not at all proud of what she was going to explain. "Now that Miss Ross has undoubtedly been identified as an accomplice to a wanted fugitive, protocol states that everything in her possession must be confiscated and put through a thorough examination until the investigation into her person is finished."
Ross exited last, only stopping to chat with his daughter's 'ex-boyfriend', "You did the right thing, calling me."
Sampson just looked at Ross from the corner of his eye, "I need to know where they're going" Ross softly demanded as he approached the shrink. "She'll be in incredible danger as long as she's with him."
"From who?" Sampson asked, "He protected her. You almost killed her."
Ross then leaned forward, "I give you my word, her safety is my main concern at this point."
"BULLSHIT!", just about everyone, even Penny and Ruby, got out, already seen enough about General Ross to know when he's lying.
Sampson got up, "You know, it's a point of professional pride with me that I can always tell when somebody's lying." Ross just gave him another weird look, "And you are." Sampson continued, "I don't know where he's going. I know she'll help him if she can."
"Then she's aiding a fugitive." Ross just said with a tone of finality, "And I can't help either one of them." he then left the premises.
If it was possible, that one statement alone caused everyone in the room to hate the man even more.
As he left, Sampson decided to at least have the last word, "I used to wonder why she never talked about you. Now I know."
Hearing this, just about everyone in the room couldn't help but to burst out laughing, with the more serious of the bunch letting out a few chuckles.
Ross paused for a bit to fully decipher his words, he then resumed and made his way towards the Humvee, "Where does she meet these guys?" he grumbled to himself.
"I don't know where she finds them, but I've got to go there." Coco got out between a few laughs, something that just about every female, even Penny, found themselves agreeing with wholeheartedly.
"Well, that's that. So, what do you think?" Vein asked once the movie paused and everyone calmed down.
"I HATE HIM!" Everyone, even the usually peppy Penny, the reserved Blake and Ren, and even the docile Velvet, practically roared these three words.
"That insufferable, cold-blooded, egotistic, selfish, bull-headed..." Weiss pretty much lost herself in her ranting, spewing out names for the General.
"All of those people, and all because of his obsession..." Penny began, quite angry at Ross, which she didn't think she was capable of.
"...how many more will he let down just so that he can get what he wants?" Ruby finished, just as angry at Ross as Penny.
"And how many more will get hurt if he succeeds in his goals?" Pyrrha asked, teeth grinding at the thought of Ross getting his 'army' of Hulks.
Then, as if as one, they all turned to the 'Vampire', who noticed their stares and immediately knew what they wanted to ask, "Bertha?"
"BERTHA" they all simultaneously responded.
"Ok, I'll see what I can do." he agreed, getting many of them to sport some rather blood-thirsty grins, the likes of wish would get even the most viscious of blood-suckers to cringe, "Fair warning though, unlike Kat here, I don't have much control over where I 'pop-out'. So, it'll take a while, but I'll get it done."
"That's all that matters." Winters said for everyone, her rage for Ross being so high that she was amazed that she had essentially found someone WORSE than her father.
"So, do I continue?" Katana asked.
"Yes, please." Everyone agreed, too angry at Ross to talk about anything else. And with that, the movie continued.
Sorry for taking so long. Chores, appointments, job hunting, graduation, holidays, and a few new games, we honestly kind of forgot about this for a while. But here it is, hope you enjoy.
Now, some of the stories that I plan on writing after this have so many routes to go through that I'm in a bit of a stump, as such I have made a poll so that you may help me decide the direction of at least 2 of them (the hardest of them all).
Well, taking a break of the new years, will do my best to try and get the next one up fast. Until next time.
This is Vein Bloodborne saying... HHHHHHHAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPYYYYYYYY NNNNNNEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAARRRRRRRSSSSSSSS!
