I do not own RWBY or Dragon Drive
'This promised to be an interesting year.' Weiss remembers thinking just the night before as she glares at the chipper hooded girl from the floor of her team's dorm room.
Well, she could certainly say it was shaping up to be that. Dammit she was going to pay Ruby back for that whistle.
As the heiress got to her feet, mumbling about vengeance, she started to actually pay attention to what her leader was saying.
"Now that everyone is awake, we can begin our first order of business!"
Weiss could feel the oncoming regret, but as one of the voices of sanity she felt the need to ask, "What would that business be, exactly?"
"Decorating!" Yang exclaimed.
Weiss began to feel the regret of asking, at least if she hadn't she would have been able to be surprised, but after knowing Ruby for several years... she just wasn't, not many of the red reapers actions surprised her any more. However, as the only one in the room who seemed to possess rational thinking, she decided to put a stop to their plans for the moment.
"As much as you all want to do this," the heiress said, "I would heavily suggest we wait until after our classes today, especially since we seem to have quite a few things to set up."
The other three turned to look at the total amount of things that they had brought to the school, before conceding. Setting up their room now would probably have taken multiple hours to do properly.
Seeing that she had gotten through to her enthusiastic teammates, she turned to her partner. "When is our first class Ruby?"
"Uh," Ruby pulls her scroll from her pocket, presumably to check their schedule. "Our first class is at 9 O'clock."
Weiss looks at the clock before wiping her hand down her face. "Ruby, it's seven thirty. If you had gone through with your idea, we would almost certainly have been late to class.
The nervous laugh from her partner told Weiss more clearly than words that she had not even considered that.
After their morning classes, Weiss had waved them off to the cafeteria as she walked off on her own. The heiress returned shortly after the rest of the team sat down with their food.
"So, I just went to Ozpin about Jaune," Weiss said with an irritated tone as she sat down, "but he already knew, and he let Jaune participate anyways!" Weiss' teammates were all keeping quiet in the face of the incensed heiress, "It seems the headmaster is of the opinion that if you survive the initiation, you're good enough to be here."
"So are you just going to let it go?" Ruby asked innocently, knowing full well what the answer was going to be.
"Gods no." was the immediate response, "I'm not going to do anything, but until he proves himself he is going to get no respect from me."
Ruby sighs but doesn't say anything else about the matter to the stubborn heiress.
Several hours, and one dead boarbatusk, found the girls back inside their dorm room, putting their dorm room into order and putting up their furnishings.
"I'm curious," Blake said, looking to the heiress since Ruby was out of the dorm for the moment, "when Ruby summoned that dragon, why did she call out that weird command instead of just telling it to attack."
Weiss responded without taking her gaze from what she was doing, "It's probably just something held over from training with her dragon."
The growl inside her head told Weiss that Stardust was unhappy with her half-truth. 'I know, but we are supposed to keep things as secret as possible, remember? If it were just Yang it might be different, but I definitely don't trust Blake enough yet to tell her the truth.'
The subdued acknowledgement from her dragon came at the same time as Ruby's return to the dorm and shouted greeting. "I'm back!"
"Hey Rubes," Yang said in response, "Blake was wondering about your attack call yesterday."
"More specifically," the blonde's partner clarifies, "why you used that strange command instead of just saying 'Attack' or something similar."
"Well," Ruby said as she blushes, "something like that was the tamest thing I could get him to agree to."
This statement caused even Weiss to look at her in shock.
"It's true," she says to her shocked teammates, "He wanted things like 'Absolute Flame Annihilation'. What I use now is as calm as he would go."
After a moment of stunned silence, Yang spoke up, "So, moving away from that very confusing topic, what held you up little sis?"
"I ran into Pyrrha in the hall and got lost in a conversation." Ruby replies, walking towards the few thing that she needed to put up, "By the way, Weiss? She agreed."
"Of course she did," Weiss sighed, "fine, sign me up as well then."
Ruby responded with a thumbs up from where she was digging into her luggage.
Blake raised an eyebrow at that, but kept her silence. She didn't know what they were talking about but she could tell that outright asking wasn't the way to find out.
Not long after this conversation, they were done with setting up their room. Despite Weiss' protests the other three had outvoted her on building their own bunk beds, instead of just buying a set of bunk beds. As they are getting ready to head to sleep, Weiss smiles to herself, despite all the chaos that this day has been filled with, she was honestly looking forward to what may come next.
Although if Ruby woke her up with that whistle again, she would not be held responsible for any injuries her partner may develop.
So, I honestly don't know what to call this chapter. Exposition? Setup? I don't know. I only know that this chapter made me realize how weird I'm going to be writing this.
Also I didn't realize how strange it would be to write a reasonable/ voice of reason Weiss this early in the series... it's interesting.
Also, since I haven't mentioned this before, and it will certainly not come up in story, all the maiden and Salem and Brother gods stuff from later seasons? They do not exist in this story. Cinder is still evil, but no Salem or anything, I just don't want to deal with it in this story. So all the 'Story of seasons' stuff are exactly that, stories.
Anyway, Important talk done, hope those who read are enjoying my very strange story.
Read and Review.
