"Brat! Wake Izuku up and come have breakfast," Auntie's shouting is as good an alarm clock as any other as it immediately woke me up. I heard Kacchan get out of bed grumbling.

"Damn hag, like I need to when your screaming's enough to deafen someone. Wake up, nerd."

"I'm awake..." I got up and folded up the futon and set it aside then grabbed my tooth brushing items from my bag. When I'm done, I come back to find Kacchan reading over the notes I made last night, an indiscernible look on his face. As soon as he realized I was there he dropped it back onto my pack and pushed his way past me. It's probably best to not antagonize him this early so I just follow behind to go have breakfast with auntie and uncle. I sat quietly as I ate the eggs and rice while auntie and Kacchan fought and uncle Masaru took it in stride.

"Do you have any plans for today, Izuku?"

I swallow my bite of eggs, "Yes sir. I'm going to go get some of my things from the apartment."

"Of course Izuku, Katsuki will help you with that."

Kacchan stops fighting when uncle Masaru says, "Like hell I am, old man! I have better things to do than following Deku around!"

"Really, uncle, it's fine. He doesn't need to help me out. I know what I need to get." I finish up my breakfast and stand up, "thank you for the breakfast." I then go clean my plate and put it up, grab my backpack and head out as Kacchan and auntie start into it again.

I frown slightly as I'm walking down the street to address I found online of the Hiruyoku Ai that was looking for a social media job in Musutafu, reading one of my journals on my quirk and thinking on the car ride from the police station, "I wonder why I got such a terrible nosebleed for that Glance, could it have been because it was so close to where I was? I don't think I've ever Glanced at something that's currently happening, it's always skewed courses of events. I guess it's a defense mechanism to stop my quirk from allowing me to look at myself, looking at myself that's looking on into infinity."

As I walk down the road I spot something familiar from a Glance and take a left down the alleyway which has me end up at a small store selling second hand stuff. 'I think this must be one of the constants, I've seen several Izuku's shopping here.' I pass up and down aisles of clothes, I grab a dark blue hoodie and manage to luck out on a blue handkerchief. "Excuse me, sir. Do you have anything that can be used for self defense?"

The old guy with several faded tattoos on his arms and neck looks at me for several seconds, "Sure kid, I got a bat I can sell you but I need to ask ya something first; you quirkless?"

That kind of shocked me a little, unsure if I should lie or not, "Should it matter if I am?"

"No... 'spose not. Not like a bat's gonna do you no good in this day and age anyhow; magnet quirks would rip 'em right out a ya hands and those tough guys with the toughening quirks will just shrug that shit off." The old man lights a pipe and puffs it a couple times, "Can't get into a good brawl these days without someone cheatin'... Well, I'm to old for that anyhow."

"Sir?"

"Bah, don't worry about the mutterings of an old man, baseball bats are over there. hand me your stuff and I'll get it rung up." I nod and hand them to him before going to grab a hefty wooden bat, two helmets and a small mesh gym bag, taking the shopkeeper's words to mind about the bat. I go to the counter and the guy has ordered up my stuff but there is a large padlock sitting on top of my hoodie, "Don't question it, kid. You're right about it not really mattering if you're quirkless, defending yourself should always take precedence and bat's are a good choice but they're unwieldy and clunky. What you need to do is buy some cord and knot this padlock to the end of it, it's good range and they can't really block rope. Total comes to 2500 yen."

'What was he; some kind of thug?' I nod and hand him 3000 yen, "Keep the rest of it, thanks for the tip about the rope."

He counts it out while I fold the hoodie then place all the items into my backpack, the baseball bat easily sliding into it, "Guess that answers the question if you were quirkless."

"Oh, that wasn't a quirk. I'm just really good at packing."

"Right kid... Well either way, take this token of gratitude for shopping at my store." He reaches under the counter and pulls out a small green Omamori talisman on a carabiner. "Be sure to keep it on you, maybe it'll help with your 'sport' problem.

"Oh… Thank you sir." I take it and place it onto one of my backpack's loops and exit the shop to continue heading to the address on this Hiruyoku's job application. "Have a good day, sir."

Several hours and a train rider later

'Well that was a waste of time,' I look at the building where the address said this guy lived at, construction crews were clearing away rubble and shattered belongings. I spotted a black haired man with thin glasses taking pictures of the wreckage,

"What happened?"

"Hmm? Oh, the police and heroes were tracking down a female villain through here last night. I heard one of the witnesses saying she just gestured at the building and pulled it apart on top of the heroes and managed to get away with some stuff from a tech store. Damn shame, quirk like that and she'd have made an excellent hero with such a powerful quirk."

"Yeah… Did they get a description to warn people in the area?"

"Not sure kid, you'll have to ask the cops over there." I nod to him in thanks and start looking for the local police station for this area. I managed to get some directions from a shop owner, the closest one was about three blocks away but they didn't really have a definitive sketch of the villain; just that she was a skinny dark haired woman that wore a skin tight black and white suit and a tiny gold cape.

Leaving the police station i saw that the crowds were starting to get larger as the evening went on so I started back to the train station. I was heading down into the train station when I saw something I thought I'd see again; my mother's hair style walking around the corner of one of the businesses.

"Mom!" I sprinted back up the stairs and took off in the direction she was going.

'Why is she so fast?!'

This went on for almost an hour; I would find her, lose her and find her again. She never answered my shouts for her but it was clearly her. She was wearing some weird revealing casual clothes but it was for sure her. I stopped following her when she entered a warehouse area of the city.

"I suppose this is where they are hiding… I better get ready to save her." I find a spot away from the main road and began to pull stuff from my backpack. "Lets see… I am going to need the bat, hoodie, helmet, gloves, mask… did i pack those heavy duty boots i bought?" It takes me a moment to get everything out and put on, boots included. I hesitate for a moment on the large padlock that the shop keeper had said I should turn into a bludgeon. 'I better not, the bat should be enough… hopefully. Should I try Glancing for insight? No, i shouldn't waste time. Mom needs saving.' I put the padlock back into the pack and cinched it back up.

"Don't worry mom, you're going to be safe soon. Even if I have to beat this jerk black and blue."

Authors note:

Holy crap, hi, so sorry its been so long; this chapter just did not want to be written and i was given a 3d printer and told to learn how to use it. I have rewritten this small chaper like five times and I am pretty sure I've annoyed my sounding board friend to hell and back bouncing ideas off him. i have a very free flow method of writing; I hard set characters, main plot points, background characters and cameos for the Glances but nothing else.

I will begin writing, deciding it doesnt flow right, delete it and redo. over and over again. Which is great when they really flow and i can pump out like 3 chapters in a week. not so much for events like this.

I was stressing over how to do this chapter, whether to bring in toshinori after his little scene last chapter. I did however chekov's gun a couple of things in this chapter, that probably did not need to be gunned but better safe than sorry, didn't want to be called out for them later on.

I would like to thank everyone who has followed and reviewed Bag of Tricks so far, it is self beta'd so it is very rough and I apologize for that. Hopefully the next chapter will flow easier than this one did. Heres a character bio i have set for izuku and his quirk.

Name: Izuku Midoriya

Age: 14

Quirk: voyeur

Every action causes a split in the river of time and so on and so forth. Every split is its own dimension, seperate from one another, some are set further in the river of time but most are variables of recent actions. Izuku can use his quirk to look into these splits at a 1:1 time frame to determine if certain thing would or could happen, effectively handicapping him as he does so. As stated earlier in the chapter, he can look into his current timeline but doing so strains him greatly as a self defense from getting trapped in his own quirk.
