The field trip goes awry. Deku goes all out.
Hissatsu Deku Part 3
The field trip was supposed to be Manly. Rescue work was super Manly, arguably, even more so than defeating villains. And that was real Manly.
Eijirou was pumped to learn how to save people. Deku-bro had gone on a mumble spree about the ways Eijirou could use his quirk to help people, and he couldn't wait to start putting them in practice.
Thirteen's speech had been super Manly as well. Even Eijirou's quirk could accidentally cause harm, his scar was proof enough of that. Learning how to avoid doing that to others was just what he could have expected from an awesome institute like UA.
What was decidedly unManly was when a bunch of villains infiltrated the USJ. At first, Eijirou assumed it was part of one of UA's Manly exercises, but Aizawa put an end to that thought before leaping into Manly action and taking on the horde of villains single handedly.
What a Man!
But then the mist Man, Kurogiri he would later learn, got in the way, and of course, Eijirou could do nothing less than follow the lead of a real Man like Aizawa and leap into action. He and Bakugo struck out at Kurogiri, but the man's warp gate protected his body.
Speaking of Manly Men, Deku-bro took advantage of the villain's monologuing by running up to him and pulling his own leg back. Wind swirled around his foot, and with a kick, and a cry of "Cyclone!", Kurogiri was surrounded by swirling winds.
サイクロン
"W-What!?" Kurogiri yelled as he was engulfed by a tornado that sent him flying upwards, his misty body sucked along for the ride.
Thirteen was quick to snap into action, the first to recover from what they all witnessed. "Everyone, get to the doors!"
1-A followed their orders, and Eijirou was with them even though he wanted to take the fight to the villains himself. Clearly Bakugo agreed, because he was grumbling and spitting under his breath all the way.
Due to the electrical interference that stopped the alarms going off, the giant doors would not open easily. Deku-bro was the first to step up. "I didn't think I'd have to use this so soon, but I have no choice now," he said, and took a deep breath.
Clenching his fists, Deku-bro let out a cry. A dark purple aura rushed out behind him, like dark flames. "Gosei— "
"Not so fast!"
Out of nowhere, Kurogiri's mists engulfed Deku-bro, and Deku-bro, in the middle of whatever technique he was about to perform, was unable to stop himself from being whisked away.
"Deku-bro!" Eijriou ran forward and grabbed Deku-bros's arm, but only succeeded in going along for the ride.
"What?!" Eijrou was a bit concerned that he heard Aizawa's voice, and when he looked around, his fears were confirmed. Kurogiri had dropped them right in the middle of the horde of villains that Aizawa had engaged with.
"Oh? What's this? Kurogiri dropped off some free experience?" The scraggly man that Eijirou would later come to know as Shigaraki said, his voice sounding as scratched up as his neck looked. "What's he up to?"
"Who cares?!" A villain said, running towards Eijirou and Deku-bro. She had long hair that looked like hundreds of strands of fishing wire, each strand ending with a fishing hook. The hooks all dangled and jangled as she ran, and her hair rose up like a legion of snakes ready to strike. "Two kids in one go? Now that's what I call a catch!" Her hair flew forward, the hooks glinting in the overhead lighting of the USJ.
But even as she was making her bad pun, Deku-bro was in motion. Deku-bro crouched down and pushed himself flying forward off his backfoot. Midair, he brought his foot back which shone with an orangey-golden glow. "Volcano Cut!"
ボルケイノカット
With a midair kick, Deku-bro shot off a flash of light that seemed to carve into the ground in front of the villain in a curve. The cut ground looked like raised dirt, with an orange glow in the centre. After a brief rumbling sound, the scarred floor erupted into a wall of fire! The villain screamed as her hooks instantly melted, and she was quick to cut the rest of her hair with a knife before the flames could reach her scalp.
Eijirou didn't have time to gawp at the Manly scene as he had to leap into action to defend his bro! A villain with a pair of scissor blades for arms tried to slash Deku-bro, but Eijirou's own hardened arms caught the attack. He then headbutted the villain, which was enough to knock the man out.
"Damn it. Midoriya, Kirishima, try to get out of here!" Aizawa said, knocking one villain out with the other. "I can't fight efficiently if I'm trying to avoid erasing your quirks!"
"Sorry, Sensei, but I don't think we have much of a choice!" Deku-bro said, standing behind Eijirou as the two regrouped. They stood back to back, glaring out at the villains that had them surrounded. Eijirou felt Deku-bro push their backs together.
"Deku-bro! Got anything that can take a bunch of these guys out at once?" Eijriou said, eying the now more cautious villains around them. "That Volcano Cut was pretty good— anything like that?"
"I've got a few options. Whether I have the space to use them is another thing," Deku-bro admitted. He took a deep breath. "Well, I guess there is one thing I can do."
"Deku-bro?" Eijirou couldn't help but say as he felt his bro take a few steps away from him.
Deku-bro yelled again, and from the corner of his eye he saw that purple aura again. Eijirou couldn't see what was happening, but he watched the jaws of several of the villains he was facing drop. Eijirou noticed that the first word was different from the last time Deku-bro brought out that aura. Then, something crept into Eijirou's vision, something long, white, and it curved into Eijirou's line of sight.
"W-What the hell?"
"What is that?"
"It's some kind of— of giant rabbit man?"
"What the fuck is that meant to be, a Stand or something?"
Unable to contain his curiosity anymore, Eijirou turned around. And his jaw joint the villain's on the ground.
"Kousoku Toshi...Robin!"
光速闘 士ロビン
Long, spiky, light green hair cascaded down the back of a goan figure hovering behind Deku-bro. From the back Eijirou could see giant white rabbit ears poking out of its head. Around its shoulders were a tattered cloak that only reached the things chest, where white fur was poking out. The cloak also had two tails that curved around its body, which were what Eijirou had seen earlier. Its muscular arms ended in blue gauntlets, its hands engulfed in a blue, flame-like aura. He had no legs, his lower body much like Tokoyami's Dark Shadow, coming out of Deku-bro's back. It hovered a couple of feet above Deku-bro.
Eijirou couldn't see the front, but he didn't get much of a chance as Deku-bro did his next insane thing. Raising a hand, a golden light shone from his palm.
"Armed!"
The giant rabbit man swiped his hand to the side, and transformed into that purple-black aura from before. The black aura flew into the air, then exploded into a meteor shower of golden lights that flew down towards Deku-bro. Deku-bro jumped into the air and the golden lights orbited around him. Two lights hit his legs, and in a flash they were covered in blue greaves. Next were his arms, which were now clad in gauntlets. Then two strands of cloth, much like the ones from the tattered cape of the rabbit man, billowed from Deku-bro's back. Finally, a light slammed into Deku-bro's head, and a head piece that looked like two, luminescent turquoise rabbit ears stuck straight up from his forehead.
"What the hell? He has a whole armor set on a key binding?!" Shigaraki said, scratching his neck furiously. "What the hell is with this kid?"
"Whoa…" All Eijirou could say was… "THAT'S SO MANLY DEKU-BRO!"
It was over in a flash. Deku-bro smashed through the entire horde of villains faster than they could blink. Shigaraki screeched, and opened his mouth. "NOM—" was all he managed to say before Deku-bro was on him, his fist buried into the wannabe supervillain's stomach.
"I don't normally like getting physical like this," Deku-bro said, as Shigaraki bent over in agony, "but you've not given me much of a choice."
Shigaraki fell to his knees. "N-Nomu...SMASH!"
And just as quickly as Deku-bro had destroyed the villains, the giant villain that Eijirou had forgotten about— hadn't even really noticed until now— appeared with his fist squarely in Deku-bro's side.
Deku-bro was sent skidding back several dozen feet, his feet kicking up a cloud whatever the floor was made of. With one hand he slowed his momentum down and glared at Nomu. A soccer ball manifested next to his feet, and with a couple of flips he'd launched it into the air.
The space around the ball went dark, as if it were nighttime. A yellow full moon appeared behind the ball. "Bouncer…" Deku-bro jumped into the air, appearing behind the ball a second later in a bicycle kick. "Rabbit!"
バウンサーラビット
The ball slammed down to the ground, surrounded in a golden light. Then, in a zig-zagging pattern, the ball bounced towards Nomu, tearing up the ground with each bounce.
"Catch it, Nomu!" Shigaraki wheezed, still clutching his stomach.
Nomu held out a hand and caught the ball with ease. With a brief clench of his hand, Nomu destroyed the ball, the ball shattering into nothingness.
"Damn it!" Deku-bro said as he landed.
"Nomu has the power of Shock Absorption!" Shigaraki said, getting to his feet. "Kick all the super shots you like, he negates that kind of damage! Go ahead! Take another shot! Nomu will stop it with ease!"
Deku-bro narrowed his eyes, then nodded. "Alright, if you're that confident." With a push of his legs, Deku-bro jumped backwards. He flew back as far as he could go while still being within view and within the plaza. Landing on the very edge of the area, Deku-bro conjured another ball.
Eijirou later learned that this move grew more powerful the further it travelled. The Manliest Man Eijirou knew held nothing back against this foe.
Kicking the ball into the air, Deku brought his hand to the side in an almost elegant movement. Appearing behind the ball, he somehow did a midair flip, which ended with his kicking leg straight up in the air. A giant, turquoise sword appeared around Deku-bro's foot, looking like some kind of sci-fi blade. In contrast, mystic looking runs appeared around the base of the sword in two, giant rings.
"Excalibur!"
エクスカリバー
Bringing the blade down on the ball, Deku-bro fired off a wave of energy that cut through the ground, tearing a trench through the USJ.
"Nomu, catch!"
Nomu brought up his hand to catch the ball. The energy around the ball pierced straight through Nomu's hand and straight through his chest. The hulking villain was lifted off his feet, carried away by the apparently razor sharp wave of energy.
"HACKS! I CALL HACKS!" Shigaraki screeched, scratching his neck so intensely that flecks of blood flew from under his fingers.
Nomu was carried by the wave of energy all the way to the other end of the facility. A loud crash and a cloud of debris heralded it's landing. Eijirou let himself sigh with relief. As Manly as that whole exchange was, it was also really—
Nomu reappeared and grabbed Deku-bro by the torso, lifting him above its head. "Deku-bro!"
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHO NEEDS HACKS WHEN YOU'VE GOT AN OP UNIT LIKE NOMU? NOMU CAN REGENERATE ANY DAMAGE THAT YOU MANAGE TO DEAL! NOW, NOMU! CRUSH HIM!"
"I'm sorry, but if you really can regenerate then I have no choice," Deku-bro said, his voice sad but resigned. He brought his fists up to his face and threw them to his sides, his hands catching fire as they went! He slammed his hands on either side of Nomu's head. "Burnout!"
バーンアウト
Flames exploded from Deku-bro's hands, and Eijirou, having started to run to try and help his bro, slowed to a stop as Nomu screeched. The flames engulfed Nomu and in mere seconds, the giant villain's body turned to ash, floating down to the ground in a pile at Deku-bro's feet.
"BULLSHIT! WHAT IS THIS KID, A FUCKING BANHAMMER?"
Deku-bro staggered back, the armour around him vanishing. He fell on his backside, panting heavily, sweat pouring down his face.
"Deku-bro, are you okay?" Eijirou ran up to his Manly friend, doing his best to ignore the ash pile.
"I...I'm all out of energy," Deku-bro said, breathing heavily. "Keshin Armed takes a lot out of me, and I've never used it this much in one go…"
"Keshin Armed?"
"The boss is out of MP?" Shigaraki was looming over them, his palms extended. "Good!"
Eijirou leapt in front of his friend, arms crossed. He didn't know what this villain was capable of, but he wouldn't let him harm his bro!
Shigaraki grabbed hold of Eijirou's arms...and blinked. Eijirou almost gaped at his none-hardened skin.
"Huh?"
"Did you forget I was here?" Aizawa said, glaring at Shigaraki with his hair floating up.
"Eraser—GAH!"
Eijirou slammed his forehead into Shigaraki's. Unfortunately, thanks to Aizawa's quirk, he also felt the impact on his squishier-than-he-would-have-liked forehead. But it was enough to get Shigaraki to unhand him, and with that chance Eijirou kicked the villain in the chest, sending him tumbling back.
Aizawa was on him like a shot, his capture scarf wrapped tight around Shigaraki, pinning his hands uselessly at his side. "I don't know what your quirk is, but it clearly has something to do with your hands," Aizawa said, pulling up his goggles and rubbing his eyes. He lowered his hand and gave Shigaraki a sharp glare. "Call this attack off, now."
"Shigaraki Tomura, the situation has— oh," Kurogiri warped next to Shigaraki, and looked around. "Where is the Nomu?"
"Over there," Aizawa said, tilting his head at the ash pile while aiming his quirked gaze at the billowy man. "Now, I suggest you surrender."
Shigaraki growled, and Aizawa flinched when the man turned and bit him on the leg. Aizawa closed his eyes for a second on instinct, but it was more than enough time for Kurogiri to warp himself and Shigaraki away.
A minute later, All Might arrived at the scene and rounded up the remaining villains in the facility. Not long after that, the rest of the UA heroes arrived.
Eijirou sighed as the police and paramedics swarmed his class. Nobody had been hurt, and that was a relief, but it was sinking in just how little he did during the whole event.
"Kirishima-kun," Deku-bro smiled at him as he sat next to Eijirou. "Thanks for the help back there. I would have been cut down by that one villain if you didn't shield me. Not to mention when you protected me when I was exhausted."
Eijirou went to argue, but paused. Just like in the battle trial, he might not have done much, but he was able to protect Deku-bro until he could save the day. What if he hadn't dived into that warp gate after Deku-bro? If it wasn't for that Keshin Armed thing, would they have been able to deal with the Nomu before All Might arrived?
He couldn't know these things, but there was one thing he now understood, better than ever.
"No problem, Deku-bro! Anytime!"
A Hero is a Hero, no matter how big or small a part they play. And that was pretty Manly in its own right.
