The Decepticons were flying back to Cybertron in Astrotrain, the battle of Autobot city was a major defeat for the Decepticon army. Many faithful Decepticons perished in battle the Constructicons, Insecticons, and many others. But, the biggest loss was the Decepticon's leader Megatron. With Megatron, dead someone must take his place and the bot looking to fill that role was none other than Starscream.
Astrotrain was having trouble flying given that there were so many Decepticons inside him. The weight was making it hard for him to maneuver and was depleting his Energon. If the Decepticons didn't get rid of some dead weight then they would be stranded in space.
Inside Astrotrain's rocket form the Decepticons were quietly sitting around. Morale was very low, the Decepticons were shamed, humiliated, and broken. So many were wounded or broken. The only one not in low spirits was Starscream and how could he not be? For so many years he's dreamed of becoming the leader of Decepticons and now with Megatron dead and Decepticons broken now is his time.
Suddenly Astrotrain contacted Starscream. "Jettison some weight or I'll never make it to Cybertron!" Astrotrain said in a strained tone.
Knowing the Decepticons needed to lighten the load Starscream got up and spoke up. "Fellow Decepticon's Astrotrain has requested that we lighten our burden!"
"In that case I say we dump the badly damaged and deactivated," A Decepticon suggested.
"Do I hear a second on that?" Starscream asked aloud.
Every fully functioning Decepticon shouted "AYE!" in unison.
"And against?" Starscream asked, looking at the wounded.
"Nay!" Every badly damaged Decepticon said to the best of their abilities. None of them wanted to be abandoned nor did they want their fallen comrades to be jettisoned into space. They fought hard for the Decepticon army and deserved a memorial. Unfortunately for them, there were more "Ayes' than "Nays".
"The 'Ayes' have it," Starscream said proudly.
With that, he and the functioning Decepticons went over to their damaged and deactivated comrades and began throwing them out of Astrotrain. Many of them begged to be spared but their begs were ignored and answered with them being thrown into the cold airless vacuum of space. When all of them were dumped only one remained, the deactivated carcass of the former leader, Megatron. Starscream carried Megatron's body to the door, he gave one last evil look at it, smirking. "Goodbye...Lord Megatron, you shall be remembered." Starscream said sarcastically, before finally throwing him out into space.
With the dead and damaged now gone Astrotrain would have no problem getting what's left of the Decepticon force back to Cybertron. This was also the perfect opportunity for Starscream to claim his position as the new leader of the Decepticons. "Decepticon's with Megatron defeated, our forces will descend into chaos. Powerplays and infighting will happen and this will make the Autobot's mission to win this war much easier. So to make sure that doesn't happen I nominate myself as the new leader."
Starscream made some good points Megatron kept the Decepticons united and his death will spark chaos among the Decepticon ranks. A new leader must be selected, here and now.
A lot of them wanted to oppose Starscream but after the massacre, they went through at Autobot City it was because of Starscream that they were still functioning. The Decepticons discussed this for a moment before they turned back to Starscream.
"Well?" Starscream questioned.
Every Decepticon started at him before they all suddenly bowed down to their new master.
"All hail Lord Starscream!" The Decepticons shouted, repeatedly.
This seems like a dream come true for Starscream, Megatron is now scrap metal and he was now the leader of the Decepticons. He never thought this day would come, but here it is. If Starscream could shed a tear he could.
For the rest of the journey back Starscream was given praise. When they get back to Cybertron Starscream will be coronated.
I hope you all have enjoyed this chapter, I'm sorry for not working on this sooner but I've been focusing on one story at a time.
Also, I want to make something clear, Megatron is dead and I mean permanently, his reign is over, and he won't become Galvatron.
