A/N: And here, we have another chapter for the story where the gang finally arrives in Mexico and learns about the Chupacabra. And here, Selena Gomez voices Lilly, who by the way would speak spanish. The english translations will appear for her quotes in my next notes. Enjoy. :)
Scooby-Doo! and the Monster of Mexico
Chapter 3: La Vida Loca/Legend of the Chupacabra
As the Mystery, Inc. Gang all traveled, it was all well and good up until Fred noticed some heavy traffic up ahead, frustrating him greatly. And to make matters worse, they later came across a skunk, stopped almost immediately, rand ran off to hide on top of a billboard, making the skunk laugh. Soon after, the members each got their passports checked, especially with Scooby pressing himself against Shaggy to match the picture in Shaggy's passport before they were allowed to travel to Mexico and first stopped at a sort of pen for donkeys with which most of the gang rode on each one, even Scooby, who had trouble riding his own donkey before the gang later all had their own picture taken with Shaggy getting poked in the butt by a cactus, making Googie, Moon, and her friends laugh in joy. Afterwards, Fred picked up a sombrero and tried it on while also trying out a suitar before Daphne tried on a necklace to see how it'd look on her while Velma wore a sort of sash and while the rest looked around, Scooby and Shaggy were eating mexican food quite excitedly with Googie and Moon joining in before Scooby eventually noticed a string of peppers, picking it up, and then eating it.

"Uh, Scooby? I don't think it's a good idea to be stuffing peppers in your face like that.", Googie spoke just before suddenly, Scooby started suffering the effects of the peppers' intense flavor as he then turned red and puffed out like a train whistle, prompting him to look around and try to douse the fire with a bucket of water, only to find there was nary a drop before spurting out fire from his mouth, prompting Scooby to try and douse the heat with water form the pump, drinking it and dousing the water in the process.
Then, later, the van was being lifted up so that the tires can be switched out. But as the van was getting lifted up, the new tire fell out, prompting Scooby and Scrappy to go after it and try to stop it only to wind up going along with it as Scrappy ran on top of the wheel before the wheel got bounced upward by a rock, sending the two dogs careening toward the bull, its horns of which were able to stop the wheel, urging the bull to launch Scooby and Scrappy away with the tire being launched with them before the two wound up back near the van with the wheel trapping Scooby before it was picked up by Fred, freeing Scooby as he then patted Scooby in the back, earning Googie's slight giggle as well as Moon's.

Later the Mystery Machine was now heading toward to the small house before they arrived.
"Are you sure this is the place?", Shaggy asked nervously before Fred checked the paper.
"Yep, this is it.", Fred responded.
"Looks kinda…", Shaggy began.
"Quaint?", Daphne asked.
"Homey?", Moon asked.
"Simple?", Scrappy added.
"Small?", Googie added.
"Small.", Shaggy responded at the same time.
Then, a door opened and revealed Alejo Otero from inside before he stepped out.
"¡Hola, mis amigos! Welcome to Mexico!", Alejo greeted.
"Hey, how are you?", everyone greeted as Fred and Alejo shook hands.
"You must be Fred.", Alejo guessed.
"That's right, and you must be Alejo. Let me introduce you to the gang and my friends. These are…", Fred began before Alejo interrupted.
"No need. They are exactly what you describe. Daphne, Velma, Googie, Moon, Thorn, Dusk, Luna, Ben, Wild Wind, Jay, Dilla, Damien, Rowena, Willow, Señor Scooby, Scrappy… Is this Shaggy? He doesn't look like he can eat you out of house and home.", Alejo responded.
"He's got a high metabolism.", Fred whispered before Alejo understood with a nod.
"Please, let me introduce you to my family. ", Alejo offered before they all followed Alejo and he looked back to see the gang in a cabin.
"Wow, isn't this where you live?", Luna asked.
"No. These are just the guests' cottages. You and your friends will have your own. This is where we live.", Alejo responded as he showed them a beautiful hotel with pine trees and a pool.
"Welcome to my family's hotel, La Villa Bella.", Alejo introduced.
"Wow. It's beautiful.", Googie spoke in amazement.
"What does bella mean?", Fred asked.
"Beautiful.", Alejo explained.
"Oh, well, La Villa Bella is very bella.", Fred laughed nervously before Scooby leaned on Fred's shoulder.
"Reah, rery rella.", Scooby agreed.
"Please, let me show you around.", Alejo offered before going to a young woman sitting on the edge of the pool and old lady sitting on a chair and introducing them.
"This is my wife, Sofia and my mother, Doña Dolores.", Alejo introduced.
"¡Bienvenidos!", Doña Dolores greeted.
"Welcome!", Sofia greeted.
"And in the pool is the rest of my family, Jorge, Lilly, Ariana, Oliver, Natalia, Cristina, Fernanda, Carolina, Mirelia, Gabriella, and Sebastian.", Alejo grinned.
"Hola.", Lilly grinned while holding Ariana.
"And this is Chiquita.", Jorge introduced as he petted Chiquita before Scooby looked with Amber looking as well with both grinning to Chiquita.
"Wow. Are they all your children?", Fred asked before Alejo and Sofia looked and laughed.
"No, no, no. Only Jorgito, Lilly, and Ariana. The rest are just visiting for the Day of the Dead festivities.", Alejo explained.
"So, the rest besides those three are cousins?", Marcie asked.
"Si. Here in Mexico, family is muy importante.", Alejo responded.
"You must be hot and tired after your long trip. Please, feel free to join the children in the pool.", Sofia offered.
"Yeah!", Scooby responded before he ran as the gang looked surprised and Scooby went up the diving board to jump off.
Unfortunately, he hit the surface too hard and sunk, making Jorge and Chiquita laugh after that, then Chiquita was surprised when her ears went up and Scooby popped on top of her before Amber dove in next, quite beautifully, that is, and then swam up next to Scooby.
Later at the Café, Alejo was wrapping his arm around the shoulder of a man with a white shirt and blue blazer.
"Who's this?", Googie asked.
"My older brother, Luis. He manages the café with his fiancée, Charlene.", Alejo responded just before a woman with bushy blonde hair comes out.
"Howdy! Let me grab y'all a cup of Café lechera whilst you take a load off.", Charlene offered as she pushed Googie into her seat by pressing her down by the head, surprising her on her way to pick up a tray and pick it up before heading for the table just as Luis looked romantically at Charlene while Lilly felt nothing but disdain for Charlene as she glared.
"You can see why I feel, how do you Americans say? 'Head over heels' for Charlene. I met her on my last trip to the United States at Mr. Smiley's Fantastic Funland, and I've been smiling ever since.", Luis explained before Charlene brought two pitchers.
"Well, someone hasn't quite taken a shine to her yet.", Scrappy spoke, gesturing to Lilly, who gave a sour look toward Charlene and turned with a huff.
"You know, Café lechera is famous in Veracruz. First, One server serves you thick coffee then the custom is to bang on your glass with your spoon until another server pours you hot milk in your glass.", Luis explained as Charlene poured the coffee in the cups before he poured said hot milk in one of the cups.
"Ain't that a hoot? I love these Loco customs. 'Loco'; that's crazy in 'Mexican'. I mean Spanish.", Charlene grinned, somewhat impressing Scooby as she gave Scooby a bowl of café lechera with which he tasted a drop just before coffee beans fell into his bowl, puzzling him.
"Where did those beans come from?", Thorn puzzled.
"You know, some days I grind so many coffee beans, I swear the little suckers are coming out of my ears!", Charlene said with laughter.
"Huh. Good to know.", Googie spoke.
"I'm not sure it's that simple.", Rowena responded.
"Maybe they got stuck in her hair.", Willow guessed before Scooby drank the café lechera and had a mouthful of milk in his face and licked it with a smile.
"It didn't take long for Scooby to start livin' 'La vida mocha'.", Velma grinned.
"I'll say.", Marcie agreed while Lily still felt uneasy with Charlene.
Later, outside the gang and Alejo's family are eating lunch.
"This lunch is really wonderful, Doña Dolores.", Daphne grinned.
"Yeah, like, whoever came up with this whole fiesta tradition is okay in my book.", Shaggy responded as Scooby tried to eat the whole plate, but Shaggy ate it quickly with Scooby upset.
"Not to worry, Uncle Scoob. There's still some food left for you.", Scrappy assured as he got out a second stack for him, making Scooby grin before he ate it and swallowed.
"Thank you.", Scooby grinned.
"It is often followed by another tradition La siesta, an afternoon nap.", Alejo spoke.
"Even better!", Shaggy laughed.
"Reah! Reven retter!", Scooby agreed.
"The purpose of fiestas and siestas, Shaggy, is to provide sustenance and rest for another tradition: hard work.", Velma stated, prompting Shaggy to change his opinion.
"Traditions. Like, who needs 'em?", Shaggy responded.
"Yuck!", Scooby commented.
"Don't worry, Shaggy. You can just leave that tradition to me.", Googie assured before everyone laughed just as an old man in a uniform came in.
"Um, forgive me for interrupting your meal, Doña Dolores, but I need to discuss some urgent business with your sons.", the old man spoke as Dolores wiped her mouth with a napkin.
"As you wish.", Doña responded.
"Excuse us, please. This won't take long.", Alejo assured as he left.
"Who is that?", Ben puzzled.
"Diego Fuente used to do business with my late husband. I don't trust him. Never did. He is a… How do you say it in America?", Doña Dolores responded.
"Crook?", Fred guessed.
"Liar?", Daphne added.
"Con man?", Velma added.
"Jerk?", Googie asked before Dolores smiled.
"Si. A jerk!", Doña responded.
Later, Diego's conversation with Alejo, Luis, and Charlene was just about to conclude.
"For the last time, I told you no. Now please leave, we have guests.", Alejo refused as he walked with Diego following him.
"I apologize for the disturbance. Please, finish your meal.", Diego responded before leaving.
"Um, okay. What just happened?", Googie asked as she and the others caught up.
"That man is stubborn as a bull. He wants to buy our father's land and won't take 'no' for an answer.", Alejo stated.
"Maybe it's not such a bad idea, Alejo. Putting all your assets into land is foolish.", Luis commented.
"We made a promise to papa before he died and I don't intend to break it now.", Alejo only responded in determination before Lilly spoke up.
"Estoy de acuerdo con mi papá, el tío Luis. Es demasiado importante. Además, ¡esa Charlene es una bruja malvada!", Lily exclaimed, making both Charlene, Luis, and Alejo gasp in shock.
"Lilly!", Alejo exclaimed.
"¿Qué? Sabes que solo está usando al tío Luis por dinero.", Lilly responded, making Charlene saddened a bit as Luis grew just as disappointed in a depressed manner.
"No ella no es. Y esa no es forma de tratar a tu futura tía. Ahora, te disculparás con tu tío Louis y Charlene por lo que dijiste, ¿de acuerdo?", Alejo asked in spanish.
"Si, Papi.", Lilly sighed before turning around.
"Lamento haberte llamado bruja malvada, Charlene.", Lilly apologized in spanish.
"Aw. It's okay, my sweetiekins.", Charlene grinned, making Luis grin.
"Sounds like you may need some help with something.", Moon responded.
"Yes. And not just with my daughter, either.", Alejo sighed.
"The hardest part is making sure the two get along.", Luis added.
"So how will you and your friends be spending your day in Veracruz?", Sofia asked.
"We were hoping to watch the preparations of Day of the Dead festivities.", Velma responded.
"If anyone is out there alive to honor the dead.", Doña Dolores responded, making Scooby and Shaggy scared.
"What do you mean?", Moon puzzled.
"Have you all heard about the monster?", Charlene asked before suddenly, a thunderstorm came and rain poured down.
"Did you say m-m-m-monster?", Shaggy asked nervously.
"A monster, huh? Go on.", Scrappy spoke.
"Maybe we should head back inside first.", Googie suggested.
Later inside the empty hotel lobby with the gang, Tino, his friends, Alejo, and his family.
"You must have noticed by now that our hotel is reluctantly empty. That's because a monster has been terrorizing Veracruz and the near by villages. Right after I sent my email to you, the monster showed up near the plaza and nearly got Jorgito.", Alejo responded, making Scooby and Shaggy gulp.
"Well, it's probably good that it didn't. Because if he did, I would've been there to hunt it down. Whatever it is.", Scrappy assured.
"I wouldn't recommend it until we know more. Anyway, I'd desperately emailed you again, to warn you. But you must have already left.", Alejo added.
"So, what can you tell us about this monster that showed up recently?", Googie asked, now wearing her light purple jacket with long sleeves and a hood.
"The locals call him El Chupacabra.", Alejo stated.
"I've read about him, he's practically the lizardman of Mexico.", Velma responded.
"Rizardman?", Scooby spoke.
"That's right.", Luis spoke.
"I'm not a superstitious man, but I saw it with my own eyes down by the warf. I can never forget it. It stand about nearly 10 feet tall, and walks on two hind legs, it was covered with thick scales, has the face of a noseless reptile with huge claws and sharp fangs, and his eyes glow green like those of a demon.", Alejo responded as Scooby and Shaggy seemingly saw that the fire had turned green before Googie went over to the fire and puffed it out before the duo's marshmallows could be burnt.
"Phew. Your marshmallows could've been badly burnt.", Googie sighed just before Shaggy and Scooby quickly ate the marshmallows on their sticks franctically in fear as their teeth practically acted like jack hammers.
"Hey, hey, calm down everyone. The chupacabra's only a myth.", Fred assured.
"Yes, let's forget the Chupacabra and make the most to your first visit to Mexico.", Alejo agreed.
"Why don't we all get a good night sleep? Eh.", Sofia suggested.
"Yes, there's nothing to worry about.", Alejo assured in agreement.
"Alejo's right.", Daphne grinned.
"Well, making the most out of our first visit is the general plan, anyway.", Jay grinned.
"But just in case, double lock your doors.", Luis warned.
"Say your prayers.", Charlene added.
"And whatever you do…", Luis added before he and Charlene finished.
"Don't go outside.", the two finished altogether.
Later that night, Shaggy, Scooby, Googie, Scrappy, Moon, Jay, Dilla, Damien, Rowena, and Willow were in bed.
"Whoever heard such a ridiculous story?", Rowena asked.
"Yeah. Like, a ten-foot hairy monster with big feet and sharp teeth? Sounds like something out of the cartoon. Like pleasant dreams, Scoob. See you guys in the morning.", Shaggy yawned.
"Night, Shaggy.", Googie yawned.
"See you in the morning, Uncle Scoob.", Scrappy spoke.
"Yeah.", Scooby nodded before suddenly, they heard a snarling sound.
"What was that?", Moon puzzled.
"Yeah. It kinda sounded like something growled.", Rowena agreed.
"You mean the monster?", Willow asked.
"We don't know that for sure.", Damien responded.
"Well, something's making that sound outside.", Jay responded.
"And it is a bit loud.", Dilla agreed.
"Well, that's it. This is officially gonna be a really long night.", Googie spoke.
"Yep. No doubt about it thanks to that noise out there.", Scrappy agreed before the noise grew louder, prompting Shaggy and Scooby to hide under the covers, frightened.
"Listen, Scoob. Something's coming from out of the window. It might be a little bird or a squirrel.", Shaggy spoke before Scooby whimpered and the group all heard a roar before the two cowards burst out from the overs and ran around the room in a panic.
"El caba-choo-choo! I mean, la kooka-babka! El popa-choopa! No, I mean... HELP!", Shaggy shouted before he opened the door to see Fred in front of him only for him to close the door back.
"Guys, wait! It's only Fred.", Googie urged as she opened the door back to let Fred in.
"Oh. Like, for a second there, I thought that big Mexican dinosaur was trying to get us.", Shaggy spoke before laughing a bit nervously.
"Yeah.", Scooby agreed.
"Okay. So, I know we're okay, but what about Daphne, Lena, and Simone?", Scrappy asked.
"Good question.", Fred puzzled.
"I'll go check that out. You guys sneak up to her room and wait for my signal.", Googie assured.
Later, Googie carefully snuck outside amidst the heavy pitter patter of rain and scaled the walls with her claws to check on Daphne, Lena, and Simone via window to see them sleeping soundly.
"Phew. Looks like they're safe.", Googie sighed in relief just before noticing two sets of green lights in the darkness, worrying her as she gasped before she howled, alerting Daphne somewhat while Fred can guess what the howl meant.
"Hear that? That's the signal. CHARGE!", Fred shouted before he and the others ran toward the door just before Daphne, yawning, opened the door just in time for Fred and the others to crash in with Googie entering.
"Daphne. You and the girls are okay.", Googie spoke in relief.
"And sorry about waking you two up like this.", Googie apologized before Simone only sighed in slight disgust.
"In our defense, we thought those were the eyes of the Chupacabra.", Fred spoke, holding up a sort of music player with green lights.
"Sorry guys, I was afraid to go to sleep and thought some Latin rhythms might calm me down. Daphne apologized.
"It looks like Alejo's stories riled everyone.", Lena guessed.
"Does anybody got a bandage?", Shaggy asked.
Then, the group all went outside to check.
"Don't know what you heard guys, but I think we're safe. Let's all try get some-", Fred began before noticing something troubling.
"Hey, wait a minute. What's this?", Fred puzzled.
"Those look like footprints. And really big ones, I might add.", Ben responded.
"Don't look, Scoob. Or we'll never get to sleep.", Shaggy spoke before he and Scooby then covered their eyes.
"Notice how they lead to the cottage window. Then reverse direction and head off towards the hotel. We must have scared whatever it was away.", Velma spoke.
"And there's something else about those prints, too.", Googie added before picking up the scent of the footprints.
"They're coffee bean scented.", Googie added.
"It was brave enough when we were separated, but got scared at the thought of a bunch of us to contend with. Not a very courageous monster.", Fred spoke.
"Either that, or it decided to go after a different target.", Scrappy spoke.
"Yeah, but why?", Googie puzzled.
"Well, whatever it is, it's gone. Maybe now we can all get some sleep.", Velma spoke as she went inside her stateroom.
"We're gonna need it. We got a big day tomorrow.",
"Yeah, sightseeing and chocolate bean tamales! Can't wait!", Shaggy laughed.
"Yeah.", Scooby laughed before he and Shaggy started walking away.
"Uh, that's not exactly what I meant, Shaggy.", Fred spoke before the two stopped for a moment.
"So, that means...", Moon began in realization.
"That's right, gang. We got a mystery on our hands.", Fred grinned.
"Zoinks!", Shaggy exclaimed.
Little did they know that El Chupacabra was watching them with a glare from a distance with his glowing green eyes as he growled with the rain pelting him in the scales.
A/N: And it looks like the Chupacabra was watching them from afar this time. Who knows what could happen this time? Anyway, I forgot to add the translations earlier, so my bad. Anyway, the following translations are, "I agree with my dad, Uncle Luis. It's too important. Besides, that Charlene is an evil witch!", "What? You know she's only using Uncle Luis for money.", and finally, "I'm sorry I called you a wicked witch, Charlene.". And that's about it for now." You can expect more translations for Lilly to come soon. :)
