Chapter 8: El Chupacabra Attacks Again/Museum Tour Guide Unmasked
"We suspected that "Mile" and "Enter" are part of bigger words. And look we were right. "Smiley Entertainment." When Mister Smiley was unable to convince the locals to sell their land for his new theme park, he turned to the Otero family.", Velma explained as she picked up the briefcase and then showed a torn piece of cloth, even putting said cloth on the briefcase to see that it matches.
"Their hotel is built on some of the best real estate in Veracruz. When they refused to sell, well, he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer.", Fred added.
"So he terrorize the tourists with the Chupachapra attacks, hoping to ruin the Otero's hotel business and force them to sell.", Daphne added.
"And then, he did everything he could to prevent us from revealing his scheme.", Velma added.
"Smiley was the only person to pull it off.", Scrappy added.
"In fact, he even knew our every move, all because of a tracking device that Luis had.", Googie added.
"But why?", Luis puzzled.
"Oh please, you're only encouraging him.", Mr. Smiley responded.
"Well, being the head of a theme park the way he is, he had access to the best special effects money can buy.", Moon explained.
"Like, not to mention the animatronic animals like our magical eagle friend, Paco.", Shaggy spoke as he got out the broken Paco.
"Ay, caramba! Ay, caramba! Ay, caramba...", Paco spoke while his voice was powering down before Paco was dropped, although still held onto as his head and eye bounced up and down some.
"And by kidnapping me and framing us as vandals, he was able to derail our investigation and create bad publicity for the pyramids.", Daphne added.
"Soon to be his chief competitor for the dollars of tourists all over the world.", Velma added.
"All so that he can ruin everyone's vacation here in Mexico and then build his new theme park, because that's just how greedy he is.", Sarah added.
"But to do that, he needed to use the legend to scare everyone away to ruin the hotel business, forcing the Oteros to go out of business and sell the land to him so he can build a theme park in the exact place where the hotel is.", Diane added.
"Not that it'd do him much good now since he was caught red-handed.", Rowena responded.
"Our deductions makes perfect sense. But if Smiley is behind the Chupacabra attacks, then how do we explain that?!", Shaggy shouted as he pointed to the top of the building with El Chupacabra roaring before jumping off the roof with the villagers, the gang, and their friends scared.
"It sure doesn't look like a special effect to me.", Daphne spoke in worry.
"It is the monster!", Sofia shouted.
"El Chupacabra!", Luis added before Shaggy and Scooby gulped.
"Like, this is gonna be bad, real bad.", Shaggy spoke in worry before El Chupacabra jumped down to the roof of the building before roaring again, scaring everyone as they fled before he then threw a chimney when the people ran for their lives just to avoid the incoming chimney before it landed.
"Why, you...! Where's the honor in throwing chimneys toward crowds?! Why don't you come down here and fight like a man?", Scrappy dared before the Chupacabra jumped off the building to the ground and then threw a table with food at the gang.
"Take cover!", Simone shouted before everyone did so with a table as the sauce splatted the table.
"You don't scare us, you big lizardman wanna-be!", Scrappy shouted before El Chpacabra roared again, scaring everyone with the giant lizard-like creature then picking up the chair and tossing it aside before roaring at Daphne, who was hiding beneath it.
But when Daphne stood up, she gave a glare at it before promptly stepping on its foot, making it leap away, caressing its foot while Shaggy and Scooby stopped near a picnic and ate some food only for the Chupacabra to sweep the blanket off, knocking Shaggy and Scooby off the blanket and onto the ground before Googie and Moon turned to Lily before whispering to her the plan before getting out the Grimness Book of Records and opening it to the page that turned Googie and Moon into werewolves with Lily then nodding before Googie incanted said spell, the wolf light then hitting Lily, although not actually hitting her so much as coating her in some protective barrier before she grew wolf ears, fangs, brown wolf fur, wolf laws for feet, claws, and a cute wolf nose before she howled just as the barrier became invisible before the 3 werewolves snarled at the Chupacabra just as the monster noticed before the three roared at the Chupacabra, who promptly ran into Shaggy and Scooby just as they ate some watermelon and spat the seeds out like BB's at the monster, who was then pelted toward Fred and Velma with the mariachi band before lifting the platform they're standing on up and looked beneath it only for Fred and Velma to blow their horns loudly into its ears, disorienting it, before Fred and Velma blew their horns as they took off before it recovered with a shake of his head, looked around, and roared, scaring everyone away, giving Velma and Marcie the opportunity to slip a couple pumpkins from below, making him fall onto the tombstone with everyone, even Shaggy, Scooby, Crystal, and Amber laughing at it before the creature growled at Shaggy and Scooby, prompting them to run before Crystal and Amber, in anger, turned into their true forms and screeched, prompting the Chupacabra only to run into the Hex Girls, Lena, Simone, Jacques, Simon, Sarah, and Diane, who all transformed with the Hex Girls turning into Vampires while the rest became werecats, freaking the chupacabra out as it ran with a frightened roar. But that didn't stop there. Soon, it even came across Rowena, Willow, and Gunther, who turned into hydes when they drank the elixir, making it even more frightened than ever before promptly running into Damien, who turned into his demon form next, scaring it even more before it ran off only to run into a string of lights before getting bounced back and get wrapped up, finally caught before it landed on the ground.
"They caught the monster!", Jorge shouted.
"We caught something but... 'Monster' is just a bit strong.", Fred spoke as he unzipped the Chupacabra costume, revealing it to be the tour guide.
"The museum tour guide. We should have known.", Scrappy glared.
"Well, we weren't expecting that. Were we?", the museum tour guide spoke as her stilts came up out of nowhere, surprising everyone before the police went to arrest her as she took the stilts off her feet.
"Oh, please, leave her alone. She only did what I'd asked her to do, so I'm the guilty one, not her.", Mr. Smiley responded.
"Hardly, it takes two to tango.", Daphne responded.
"I'm afraid she's right. Smiley didn't have to pull my leg to be part of his scheme. I love him.", the Museum Tour Guide spoke.
"Aw.", Scooby grinned.
"But why did you do all this?", Moon puzzled.
"You see, I worked as an actress and stuntwoman at his theme park.", the Museum Tour Guide explained.
"When I visited one day, it was love at first sight.", Mr. Smiley responded.
"Speaking of love, where is my fiancee, Charlene?", Luis asked.
"I'm afraid you won't be seeing her ever again. I suggest you pick up the pieces of your shattered life and find someone new.", the Museum Tour Guide spoke in response, making Luis gasp.
"I can't accept that!", Luis responded, worrying Lily as she grew worried for him and angry at the Museum Tour Guide.
"No me importa lo que digas. La encontraremos ... para Mi tío.", Lily glared in spanish.
"Look! The gifts we left for him are gone!", Sofia shouted.
"Is there anything left?", Ben asked.
"The only thing that is left is the cafe lechera that Charlene made for him.", Alejo responded.
"I don't understand.", Luis puzzled.
"I'm beginning to.", Velma grinned.
"I was afraid of that.", the museum guide spoke as she dropped some coffee beans.
"Do these coffee beans look familiar?", Marcie asked.
"Hmm. I seem to recall someone mention coffee grinds. Coming out of their ears from working at the café all day.", Velma spoke before she promptly removed the wig of the museum guide, exposing her as Charlene, whose hair puffed out while Luis and his family gasped.
"¡Lo sabía!", the she-wolf exclaimed.
"Charlene! Charlene, I thought you loved me.", Luis spoke sadly.
"Oh, would you wake up and smell the café lechera, you pea brained romantic?! I never loved you! I loved your money! I mean, if we got married, your inheritance would become mine. And then I was fixing to drop you like a hot tamale and share my riches with my honey bunch here.". Charlene spoke before she kissed Smiley.
"But that goody goody brother of yours had to complicate everything. Mr. 'I wanna respect father's wishes' over there.", Mr. Smiley responded.
Just then, a voice rang out in the distance.
"Oh, thank goodness you're all okay.", Diego spoke up as he entered as Scooby and Shaggy hid behind Crystal and Amber.
"You mean you-you knew about all of this?", Luis asked.
"Please, let me explain. I admit I tried to convince you to sell your land. But I finally accepted that you would never go against your father's wishes, and I respected that. But these two characters don't understand things like loyalty and family. When I heard of their harebrained lizardman scheme, I tried to track you down at the pyramids. Not to harm you, but to warn you.", Diego explained as Shaggy and Scooby peeped out.
"I understand. Please, accept my apologies.", Alejo responded.
"And please accept our apologies, Luis. I have to admit, there were times when we questioned your integrity. We were wrong.", Fred responded.
"I can see how misunderstandings happen. From now on, I will try to look beyond the surface to what lies beneath.", Luis responded.
"Well, what happens now, hon?", Charlene asked.
"We go to jail! What do you think happens? We could've made billions if it hadn't been for those meddling kids!", Mr. Smiley exclaimed before Lily vented her anger.
"Oh, irás a la cárcel. Pero ahora mismo, será mejor que ustedes dos corran. Tú especialmente, bruja. ¡Porque vas a pagar por romperle el corazón a mi tío!", Lily growled.
"What did she say?", Mr. Smiley asked.
"She basically told us to skedaddle, hon. So, let's make like a hot tomalley and Vamanos!", Charlene shouted before she and Mr. Smiley ran with Lily chasing after them, barking like a security dog.
"I never trusted Señorita Charlene, that bruja!", Dona Delores spoke.
"Bruja?", Shaggy puzzled.
"That means, 'witch.'", Fred responded.
"Huh. I was wondering what that meant.", Scrappy grinned.
Meanwhile, Luis and Alejo spoke with each other.
"Alejo, I have something to confess.", Luis spoke.
"Yes, brother?", Alejo puzzled.
"Hermano, when you called out for help, I did hear you, but I was paralyzed with fear. After losing papa last year, I panicked at the thought of losing my only brother, so I'd lied and said the Bigfoot knocked me out. I'm sorry for being a coward, Alejo. I pray it never happens again.", Luis responded.
"Luis. There are worse things than becoming a coward.", Alejo assured before Shaggy hopped in and grabbed both of them.
"Yeah. Like, I've made a career out of it.", Shaggy responded, making Googie giggle.
Later, the gang sat on a picnic blanket.
"So, guess there never was a real Chupacabra.", Daphne spoke.
"Thank goodness for that.", Lena sighed.
"Yes. But still, I wonder how that myth started in the first place.", Simone added.
"Like all myths, I guess. Since the beginning of time, men and women have loved to tell stories. And what better reason for creating them than to explain the many things we don't understand and maybe never will?", Velma guessed as unbeknownst to her and the others, it snatched a goat away and then growled as its eyes glowed green in the darkness.
"Yeah, like how they can pack so much flavor into one piece of fruit.", Shaggy added before Dona stopped Shaggy as she grabbed his hand and waved her finger at him before lifting him up and taking him as the fruit was dropped, prompting Scooby to eat said fruit with a grin before Googie went behind Shaggy with Thorn, Dusk, Luna, and the others joining them, especially Moon and Lily.
"At least our ancestors had the good sense to create a way to work off all those calories.", Dona Delores grinned as everyone did the cha-cha dance.
"Well, all's well that ends well. And to that, I say... Scrappy-Dappy-Doo!", Scrappy shouted.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo! Adios!", Scooby spoke at the same time with a laugh before Chiquita shook the maracas on top of Amber.
A/N: And with that, we finally approach the end of this story. And soon, "Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster" will be released and will even shed a bit of light on Daphne's own ancestry, which would be more surprising this time around. :) Although, I can't quite say for what the release date is yet. But still, it'll be something to look forward to. :)
