Chapter 1: Maple Leaf Orphanage

Naruto groaned as he opened his eyes. "What hit me so hard." he mumbled as he forced himself up.

"So, you're finally up." Kiba remarked.

"Huh? Kiba?" He glanced around noticing the other eleven occupants of the room.

"What's going on, where are we?" He asked.

"You got us, It's a drag but we're all in the same position." Shikamaru responded from where he laid on his back staring up at the ceiling.

"Um how long have we been here?"

"Don't know. We were all unconscious when we got here. Shikamaru woke up first, he said about ten minutes ago." Sakura answered annoyed.

"What's beyond that door?"

"It's locked." Ino answered. "And believe me we tried to break it down, so don't bother."

"And I can't see past the walls with my byakugan." Neji added.

"Who are you?"

Neji rolled his eyes.

"I guess we haven't introduced you." Tenten smiled sheepishly.

"Neji, this is Naruto, Naruto meet Neji, our teammate."

"Oh, so you're Neji. Thank you for looking out for my friends." Naruto smiled.

"Friends? You know them?" Sakura asked.

"Uh yeah, since we were kids." Naruto answered.

"We all met at the orphanage," Lee added.

There was another flash of light as a group of unconscious people appeared scattered across the hardwood floors.

"Daddy!" Ino cried rushing over to her father.

"All of them are here." Kiba said as he rushed over to his Mother and her nin hound.

Yeah, but something's different." Choji said as he kneeled beside his dad.

"What?" Naruto asked from where he, Sasuke, Sakura, Neji, Lee, and Tenten watched.

"They're younger?" Shikamaru answered, staring intently at his father's face.

"They're younger? What does that mean?" Sakura asked.

"Exactly what he said. That is because their faces are softer than they are now." Shino answered from where he sat by his father.

"Neji!" Hinata called shocking everyone because the timid girl is not one to be loud. Neji shifted his glare on to Hinata expectantly. "Look." she cried pointing to the unconscious man beside her father.

"A clone?" Naruto asked.

"This is impossible…" Neji gasped as he stared at the figure.

"What is it?" Sasuke asked.

"That's my father, but he died 8 years ago." Neji explained as he walked closer to the figure. "Byakugan!" Neji's eyes became veiny as he looked over his 'Father's body' "It's him."

"What the hell is going on, ya know."

"Who are they?" Shikamaru asked, referring to the four-remaining people.

Sasuke glanced over and gasped running over to two of the figures turning them over so they were on their backs. "My parents." he said, voice shaky and uneven.

"Sasuke…" Sakura whispered sadly.

"And the remaining two?" He asked, glancing at the three remaining orphans.

"We never met our parents; they died during the Nine Tails attack." Naruto answered immediately.

"Be that as it may we can make a guess that the man is definitely Naruto's Father. That is because. You look just like him." Shino hypothesized.

"What?" Naruto asked, taking a step closer. He looked at the man's hair and touched his. "Come on now, you shouldn't get a guys hopes up like that."

"Shino's right, the coloring is the same anyway and your facial structure really resembles the women's." Shikamaru added from where he stood next to the blonde. He turned soft brown doe eyes to the blonde's shocked yet hopeful face. "They might be your parents, Naruto." he said softly.

"But I don't understand. What the hell is going on!" he yells frustrated.

"If I had to guess I would say some kind of Space time Ninjutsu."

Another bright light flashed and four kids around their age appeared.

"Anyone you know?" Tenten asked.

"Nope, but if we're going off what Shikamaru suggested then I think they're from another time as well." Ino responded looking at the four kids.

"What do you mean?"

"Look at their clothes." Sakura added in agreement with Ino. "Definitely at least a decade or so old."

"So, we can assume they're all from at least the Third Great war time period." Sasuke said

"Probably." Neji agreed.

Another flash and two more people appeared.

"Why can't this thing just send everyone in at once." Kiba groaned. "I mean how many more people."

"Who knows. This is all such a drag."

"Wait a minute you guys. That's Lady Tsunade!" Tenten explained.

"Who?" Naruto asked, causing almost everyone to groan.

"Don't you pay attention in class!" Sakura yelled, punching him in the head.

"Ow, Sakura what was that for!"

"For being an idiot! Lady Tsunade is part of the Three Legendary Sannin alongside Master Jiraiya the Toad Sage and Lord Orochimaru who betrayed the village and went rogue."

"OH, she's the one you keep talking about, the medic, right?" Naruto asked Tenten, who responded with a nod. "So, this one, is he this Jiraiya guy?"

"It's possible. It seems like they only brought in leaf shinobi with the exception of you." Shikamaru observed.

"Oh about that. I passed the exam." Naruto responded sheepishly. "Uh...Surprise."

"How?" Kiba blinked. "The clone jutsu was on the test."

"I finally got it down." Naruto smirked. "See, Shadow Clone jutsu!" he said, forming the hand sign but blinked when nothing happened… everyone just sweat dropped at the somewhat expected display. "What the hell! I can't access my chakra!"

"What?" Sasuke asked, trying to see if he could channel any chakra.

"That's weird but I can access my byakugan?" Neji reminded.

"What the hell, did we get ourselves into." Shikamaru sighed once it was determined no one could do any jutsus. "If there's a fight we're screwed."

"What a drag." The 12 Genin startled before turning to Shikaku.

"You're awake." Shikamaru observed. "For how long?"

"Just long enough to hear you're all supposably Leaf Genin." Shikaku narrowed his eyes. "You're a Nara."

Shikamaru nodded, unsure of how his dad would react. "I've never seen you before."

"Yeah we have a theory that a space time ninjutsu was involved." Shikamaru explained taking a wary step back from his dad.

"Explain." he demanded.

"Hey back off before you do something you might regret." Naruto interjected, moving closer to Shikamaru.

"It's nothing personal kid, but the Leaf is in the middle of a war. I don't have time for this, and whatever is going on it's targeted, The Hidden Leaf's most prominent Shinobi. If you have answers I want them." Two groans interrupted them.

"If you need information, perhaps I can help out." Ino gasped when her father spoke up.

"What's going on Shikaku." Choza asked as the two members of the original InoShikaCho. Joined the Shadow Jounin.

"Still undetermined."

Ino and Choji joined Shikamaru's side, mirroring the position.

"Impersonators?" Choza asked as he studied the three.

"My name is Shikamaru Nara. I was born September 22 XXXX to Shikaku and Yoshino Nara." Shikamaru introduced staring up at his father stubbornly.

"Wha.." Choza exclaimed

"Impossible it's only…" Inoichi muttered.

"Space time ninjutsu huh…" Shikaku contemplated. "And the two of you?"

"Ino Yamanaka. Born September 23 XXXX to Inoichi Yamanaka."

"And you?" Shikaku asked Choji.

"Choji Akamichi. Born May 1 XXXX to Choza and Chiharu Akamichi."

Shikaku remained silent. "What do you think, Inoichi?"

"They don't appear to be lying. I could look through their minds but if they are telling the truth I'd rather not put them through that. I mean look at them...they look just like us. Besides, there's no denying those two are Hyuga."

"I'm inclined to agree. What do you lazy loafers think?" Shikaku called out.

"Being called lazy by you is really insulating, Ya know!" The redhead yelled as she sprang up to her feet followed by the blonde.

"I agree, I'm actually surprised you interfered first, that is because you hate getting involved." Shibi joined in followed by the two Hyuga twins.

"Great, how long were you guys awake?" Naruto groaned.

"We woke up when Shikaku started interrogating you guys." Fugaku answered as he helped Mikoto up.

"So these are your future brats huh." Tsume observed. "How trippy is that."

"Very, this is such a drag."

"So who are the rest of you?" Inochi asked. "Most of you look like you're from one of the clans."

"I'm Kiba Inuzuka born to Tsume Inuzuka."

"I'm Neji Hyuga. Born to Hizashi Hyuga."

"I'm Shino Aburame born to Shibi Aburame."

"And I'm Hinata Hyuga. Born to Hiashi Hyuga."

"Um the rest of you?" Kushina asked when the introductions stopped. Sasuke snapped out of his daze.

"Sasuke Uchiha. Born to Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha." he introduced a soft and wishful voice.

"And the rest of us are orphans, ya know." Naruto added, taking the attention of Sasuke much to his relief.

"Ya know?" Kushina whispered, shocked.

"I'm Tenten."

"And I'm Lee."

"And you are?" Minato asked Naruto curiously. It's hard to miss the resemblance and that combined with Kushina's verbal tic one can only assume.

"Naruto Uzumaki, ya know."

Kushina smiled, "Do you know who I am, ya know?"

"'Ya know' again?" Sakura repeated.

Naruto shook his head no.

"I'm Kushina Uzumaki."

Naruto's eyes widened and flickered over to Sasuke for a second. "Uzumaki...like me…"

Kushina hummed in agreement, "And this one…" She started pulling Minato to the ground with her causing him to grunt and the others to laugh.

"Is Minato Namikaze, her Fiance." Minato answered with a smile.

"Yep." Kushina smiled but frowned. "So you've never even seen a picture of us?"

"No, I uh asked about you um who my parents were but, no one knew. Well the Hokage does but he refuses to tell me." Naruto said sadly. "Only that they loved me and they gave their life to save the village."

Minato cupped his cheek gently, lifting Naruto's head to meet his blue eyes, "Sorry." he apologized. Naruto smiled.

"So he's Sensei's son?" Kakashi asked.

"It's likely. Is anyone else up?"

"Yeah, yeah we're all up." Tsunade said, walking up to the group with Jiraiya.

"Alright so introduce yourselves."

"Might Gai."

"Gai Sensei?" Tenten and Lee explained.

"Sensei?" Gai asked.

"Yeah you're Team 9's Jounin Sensei."

"Yes! You hear that Kakashi I become a Jounin!"

"What...did you say something."

"Ah, why do you have to be so cool!"

"Anyways... I'm Asuma Sarutobi."

"Like Lord Third Hokage Sarutobi?"

"My Old Man is still Hokage. Geeze when is he going to retire." He complained before getting hit in the head.

"Kurenai, why?" He moaned clutching his head.

"Show some respect he's the Hokage. Like he said, I'm Kurenai Yuhi."

"And I'm Kakashi Hatake." Kakashi introduced, bored.

"Alright so fill us in on what's going on." Jiraiya ordered.

The group discussed the theory going around wondering what the purpose was. Naruto being Naruto got bored and decided to try the door again.

"Naruto?" Kushina was also bored so she followed her son.

"It opened." Naruto said opening it all the way and entering the room. "Woah, you gotta see this Mom!"

"It's like a giant T.V ya know?"

"You mean like a movie theater?"

"What's that?"

"Basically this, ya know, just not as cozy."

"Hey guys if you're done, we're going to do some recon. Come on Naruto." Kushina winked.

"Wait, Kushina, Naruto." Minato called hurrying after them.

Shikaku sighed, "It's always the same with them."

"Yep." Shikamaru agreed. "Nice to know where he gets it from."

"I thought the door didn't work?" Sasuke asked as he followed Naruto, his parents quick to back him.

"Maybe everyone that they wanted here is here." Fukaku suggested.

When everyone made it to the theater room they paused in shock.

"I guess we're here to watch something." Shikamaru guessed.

"Alright so there is a fully stocked kitchen and a lot of bedrooms." Kushina informed him.

"And training areas, ya know!" Naruto exclaimed excitedly.

"Looks like whoever is behind this expects us to be here for a while." Minato added, as everyone took a seat.

Everyone sitting with their parents or their friends or teammates.

Once everyone was seated the screen flickered on.

"What is this?" Sakura asked. "It's so dark."

"Wait there's someone there..." Hiashi said.

"A child?" Hizashi added.

The screen showed a young child sitting alone in a dark cold room. Knees pulled up to their chest. It was still too dark to make out who the child was or their condition but they could see a small shadowed figure. The child untucked their head from it's huddled up position when banging could be heard from upstairs. The child whimpered in fear as they hugged their knees closer to their chest.

A door slammed open causing the kid to flinch.

"Get up here you monster you know the drill." A strict feminine voice called from the top of the stairs. Her voice was full of hate and disgust.

Naruto gasped eyes wide.

"What is it, Naruto?" Kushina asked, concerned.

"I think that's me." Naruto revealed eyes not leaving the screen.

…

"What!?" Practically all the adults screamed furious.

"Naruto, why would she treat you like that?" Minato asked, trying to control his anger in order to not scare his son.

"I mean that's how everyone treats me." Naruto said that response did not help anyone. "Well maybe not to that extent...I guess." Even the kids were shocked but looking back the adults did seem to hate Naruto a lot, but this is excessive.

"That's weird. The video stopped." Shikamaru observed.

"It's probably because we're talking." Shikaku suggested.

"..."

The scene started playing again, this time everyone was paying more attention.

The child quickly moved up the stairs whimpering and tightly shutting his eyes when he stepped out into the light.

Naruto hissed as he clutched his eyes as if trying to shield them while gasps could be heard throughout the room. The child was indeed Naruto but he was unclothed, his usually sun kissed skin pale and sickly looking. his hair greasy and his entire body covered in dirt and grime as if he hasn't bathed in weeks.

Large amount of killing intent from Minato caused everyone to turn to him warily, while Kushina pulled Naruto into her lap causing Naruto to blush in embarrassment as she hugged the living daylights out of him.

'It's nice to be cared for…' Naruto thought of enjoying the protection his parents offered while he could. Then he frowned wondering why he felt so hungry and thirsty.

"Calm down Minato. We'll figure out what the hell is going on and we'll stop this." Fugaku said.

"Yeah you're scaring the kids."

Minato sighed trying to push down his anger, "Fine, but what the hell, who put her in charge of the orphanage."

"She'll be fired soon, don't worry." Naruto shrugged as he clutched his stomach subtly.

"How old are you here?" Kushina asked.

"I'd have to be no more than four. To be honest I don't remember much of this time."

Minato shook his head before taking Naruto's previous seat and wrapping his arms around Kushina and Naruto. Naruto smiled at the comfort.

"This is better than I imagined." Naruto whispered, not wanting to break the moment.

"What is?" Minato asked.

"Being hugged by my mom and dad." Naruto answered shyly. Minato cupped Naruto's cheek and kissed his head affectionately. Minato couldn't help it, it was so easy to love Naruto even though they only just met. Maybe it's because he looks like a piece of him and Kushina. Maybe because he has her face, but he loves his boy.

The minute Naruto stepped out of the dark, dank basement he was punched and kicked to the ground by the Madame.

Naruto groaned in pain as he held his stomach and head in pain.

Sasuke and Shikamaru growled seeing Naruto beat down, drawing curious looks from their parents as the rest of their peers had to look away. Not comfortable with seeing so much abuse. Kiba on the other hand flinched at every hit and unconsciously clutched onto his mom's sleeve. She frowned in concern but didn't comment. She would keep an eye on him.

"What's wrong?" Minato asked.

"Are you hurt?" Kushina followed up gently running her fingers through his blonde hair.

"I-I don't know. I-I wasn't before. It just hurt all of a sudden."

The Madame grabbed a fist full of brown hair picking the small frail boy up.

Naruto whimpered, clutching his hair as his parents' eyes widened in shock.

"He's feeling everything that is happening to him on screen." Shikaku observed, eyes narrowed in concern.

"Well that's not good." Naruto groaned.

"What do you think you're doing, Lord Hokage will be here any minute! Are you trying to get me in trouble! Don't look me in the eyes you demon brat! I don't need you seducing me like you did with Lord Hokage." she spat viciously as she proceeded to drag Naruto outback.

Minato and Kushina watched horrified trading pained looks before glancing down at their son who was gritting his teeth in pain.

'If we're dead then he's probably the nine tails Jinchuriki.'

Kushina looks crushed at this sudden realization seeking comfort from Minato.

"Oh filthy creature look at you. You smell like shit." She exclaimed as she threw him out into the backyard. "Absolutely putrid. Well I can't have you prancing around the house like that." She said with an evil grin. She grabbed the hose and turned it on, spraying down Naruto's body. The boy yelped as the cold water hit him and tried to move away.

Naruto trembled in Kushina's arms, his skin like ice.

"Take one more step, I dare you…" She threatened. Naruto sat down obediently, eyes wide with fear, not daring to look at the Madame. His small frame trembled. "Okay that's enough." She finally said as she turned off the hose. She grabbed the boy's now blonde locks and yanked him into the house down the hall to the bathroom. She turned on the water making sure it was still on it's coldest setting before tossing the boy into the bath causing him to hit his head hard against the tub.

Naruto saw stars, his vision blurred as he tried to regain his bearings.

"Naruto?"

"I'm fine." He responded breathlessly.

Naruto fought to stay awake but quickly just gave into the darkness "Hey snap out of it! I'm not touching that disgusting body of yours you need to clean yourself before the Hokage gets here." The Madame let out a snort of disgust at his lack of response.

Naruto flinched at the harsh words he's heard all his life. He's really self conscious about his body, it's why he wears such a baggy tracksuit. Kushina growled when she saw Naruto flinching at the insults.

"I don't understand, she's treating you worse than a dog." Tsume commented confused. "Is everyone treated like that?"

"Uh no Naruto was the only one treated like that. The Madame just ignored us. We kind of had to take care of ourselves but we weren't restricted to the basement." Tenten answered hesitantly.

"But we did have to get our own food and necessities, and we snuck stuff to Naruto when we could." Lee added.

"When you could? She didn't even feed you?" Minato was dismayed, noticing the slightly malnourished look Naruto had.

"Um no...but she didn't really feed anyone. It's okay though, she goes out a lot at night so Tenten and Lee let me out so I could wash up and get food and water."

"Fine. Yuriko! Yuriko!" The madame yelled.

"Yes, Madame, can I help you?" Asked a boy in his late teens.

"I remember him." Lee said.

"Me too, he freaking abandoned us and never looked back." Tenten said.

"Yeah, but he didn't really do anything when he was there, so good riddance." Lee added.

Naruto scowled at the memory before looking back to his parents. "We have a rule that the oldest children in the Orphanage have to take care of the youngest. Even after we leave we make sure they're okay. They're our family afterall."

"That's right. Once that jerk left, that responsibility fell on me and Lee." Tenten said. "and we were only 5, so Naruto decided to step up too."

"It really became a team effort at that point though." Naruto shrugged. "We all chipped in."

"Well another thing on the list, monitor the damn orphanage like a hawk." Fugaku growled, this falls on the Uchiha Police Force for not checking in on the orphanage. Naruto, Lee, and Tenten traded sad looks.

"Give Naruto a bath again. Seems like the animal still doesn't understand how to do it."

"Of course madame." The teen said and smiled when she left.

Minato narrowed his eyes in distrust as he watched the kids every move.

"Okay, little Naru, will you be a good boy for me again?" Yuriko asked as he kneeled next to the tub. Naruto's head bobbed tiredly. "Good boy just rest, I'll take care of you." He whispered as he scrubbed the dirt off the boy's body. "You really do have a disgusting body, you little monster." Yuriko casually insulted as if talking about the weather. "It's a shame you aren't a girl, at least this would be more enjoyable."

Naruto growled, "Pervert." 'It's always the same damn thing. 'Oh Naruto can't you be in your other form. You should have been a girl. You're at least beautiful like this. Your normal body is just so gross.' Naruto recalled silently with a scowl.

"I didn't realize he was a pedophile as well." Tenten scowled.

"He's not." Naruto said.

"Naruto we can clearly see he is." Shikaku was disgusted at the display on the screen.

"He's not though, he just gets off on power and being in control. As long as the person is weaker than him and he can overpower him he's … good to go, so to speak."

'No it doesn't really matter the reason he's doing it. The fact that he's capable of touching a child like that makes him a pedophile.' Fugaku thought. 'It's not always adults, it can be teenagers as well.'

The scene changed to the front door where the Hokage stood being greeted by the Madame.

"She almost looks human from this angle." Ino commented, earning a laugh from Naruto.

"I assume you're here to check on Naruto?"

"Well yes, but it's also his Birthday I thought I would take him out for Ramen."

"Naruto! You have a visitor."

Naruto came running down the stairs with a beaming smile on his face, "Gamps!"

Sakura, Ino, and Kurenai coed at how cute Naruto was.

"Naruto, you look so adorable. Especially with longer hair." Ino complimented.

"He looks like a Mini Minato." Kushina added as she squeezed Naruto in an affectionate hug.

"Why'd you cut it?" Sakura asked, curious.

"You'll see...probably." Naruto responded. Internally he was praying to a god he doesn't believe exists that no one will ever know.

"Hello, Naruto, how've you been?" Sarutobi smiled as he returned Naruto's hug.

"I oing goo. Wet's go!" Naruto cheered excitedly causing the Hokage to chuckle.

'SO CUTE!' Minato and Kushina inwardly coed.

Naruto was happy that he could be out of that dark dingy basement and that no one would dare mess with him with the Hokage by his side.

"Why don't you tell Lord Hokage what's going on?" Inochi asked.

"Because she could be replaced by someone worse." Naruto answered.

"She may be horrible but she's the horrible we're used to." Tenten added.

"So Naruto, how are you liking the orphanage, are you happy there?"

"Yeah, we all fens so that's nice." Naruto responded.

"That's good, so you don't feel uncomfortable right?" The Hokage pressed, needing to make sure that Naruto was being properly taken care of.

"How are you so close with the Hokage?" Sakura asked.

Naruto shrugged, "I don't really remember. I met him once in the forest when I was little, or younger than that. Since then he's always come to check up on me."

"What were you doing alone out in the forest at that age?" Kushina asked, concerned.

"Um...I think the previous Madame kicked me out. Somehow I ended up in the forest, I can't really remember that far back. Gramps brought me back and had the Madame replaced."

"Eveythings nomal." Naruto answered as truthfully as he could.

The Hokage looked at Naruto warily, not sure what to make of that statement.

Inochi sighed, "You're good I'll give you that."

Naruto grinned at the compliment.

"Yes," Fugaku agreed. "But I have come to notice that when a child is in trouble they can be very tight lipped."

Naruto smiled sheepishly.

"So she's better than the previous Madame?"

"Not bette or wose just iffent."

"Would you tell me if you needed help?"

"Yeah, but I'm goot Gamps, wook we hewe!" Naruto cheered as he hopped into the stall.

"Bye Gamps! Thanks Fo fijshing!"

"Bye Naruto Take care."

Naruto waved the Hokage bye until he was no longer visible in the street before taking a deep breath and heading inside the orphanage where he was promptly grabbed in a painful grip, stripped and quickly yanked over to the basement entrance where he was promptly pushed down the stairs.

Naruto grunted in pain at every painful impact before welcoming the darkness.

"Fuck!" Naruto cursed, drawing a few surprised and chiding eyes.

"God." Kushina whispered horrified at what she was seeing before realizing what her son just said. "No cursing." She scolded lightly considering he must have been in a lot of pain.

Sasuke, Tenten and Lee snorted like it was a lost cause.

"Sorry, habit." he apologized uncaringly. He loves the fact he has his parents right now but he still grew up an orphan in a village that hates him. If he wants to curse he will.
