A/N: And here, we have the 2nd chapter. Although, technically it's the 3rd, but it was skipped over because the 2nd overall episode kinda felt like a filler one. But not to worry. The flashbacks from the 2nd episode were added in so that nobody gets out of the loop. :) Also, there will be a couple of OC's, one of which is based off a character we know from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as one of them will be voiced by Laura Bailey while another is voiced by Troy Baker. :)
Naruto & Naguma: Rise of the Shinobi
Chapter 2: Sasuke and Hinata: Friends or Foes?
The next morning, Naruto and Naguma were just waking up with a yawn before getting up and out of bed and then looking toward a calendar to show that today is the 15th and grinning with each other.
"Today's the day. So...,", Naruto began before opening his noodle cup as Naguma opened hers before the former finished.
"Let's chow down.", Naruto spoke before Naguma agreed with a nod and both began eating their noodles just as Rin came down.
"Looks like you're both up already.", Rin grinned.
"Can you blame us? Today's our first day.", Naruto responded as he and Naguma ate while Minato came down next.
"Well, just make sure that you two finish up soon. We're going to have your picture taken before you two go.", Minato responded.
"Okay.", Naguma nodded before soon, the two finished eating and were now dressed up for the day with Naruto puzzled about something when Naguma looked down and saw it.
"It's right over there.", Naguma spoke, pointing to Naruto's headband before getting hers on as Naruto chuckled.
Soon after, they were now getting ready to have their picture taken near the monument as Minato held a camera up for them.
"Okay, you two. Smile.", Minato grinned before Naruto and Naguma do so with a brief white flash flashing.
Then, the two were already on their way to the academy when someone was waiting for them and then unrolled the blanket, revealed to be a sort of short spiky brown hair, blue eyes, and a small chip in his tooth, wearing a grey helmet with a hole at the top for his hair to stick out of, grey shorts, and a yellow shirt with a red Konoha symbol printed on it.
"You're mine, you two!", the boy shouted before moving in on them only to slip on the cloak and trip.
"Oh. I forgot to mention. That's our friend, Konohamaru. Or rather, he's our rival. It turns out, he's Hiruzen Sarutobi's grandson. We first met him after graduating. It took some getting used to at first, but he kinda grew on us as a friend from time to time. Although, it was embarrassing for me to see him trying to use the Sexy Jutsu. especially when he eventually succeeded.", Naguma narrated as it then showed how Naruto and Naguma first met Konohamaru as it showed him charging toward Hiruzen Sarutobi only to trip onto the ground before then going on a sort of escapade with Naruto, trying to learn how to do a certain jutsu as he tried to do it but failed one time before then succeeding in another, all of which made Naguma blush with his trainer, Ebisu even more shocked before then flashing back to the present.
"Oh, Konohamaru. What are you doing here?", Naguma asked.
"That was a slick move. That's why I respect you as rivals.", Konohamaru responded as he got up.
"But we didn't do anything.", Naruto responded.
"All right. Now, fight me, fair and square.", Konohamaru urged.
"Sorry, but we can't. We have orientation today.", Naguma responded.
"Orientation?", Konohamaru asked, earning Naguma's nod.
"And as of today, we're ninjas. Believe it.", Naruto responded, gesturing to the headbands he and Naguma were wearing, surprising him.
"Maybe there could be more time for this after orientation.", Naguma assured.
Meanwhile, a pink-haired girl named Sakura Haruno was getting ready for her first day at orientation as she put on her headband and checked herself out before overhearing her mother's voice.
"Sakura, isn't it time for you to get going?", Sakura's mother shouted, peeving her greatly, although she hid as much of that as possible.
"I know, I'm on my way out now!", Sakura shouted before she thought to herself.
"Shaa! How long are you gonna treat me like a kid?! I'm a ninja now!", Sakura thought.
Later, Sakura was walking up the road, headed for the academy.
"So..., I'm not a little academy student anymore. I'm Sakura Haruno; Kunoichi in training.", Sakura thought.
"See you later.", someone spoke before Ino stepped out the house and turned to notice Sakura nearby.
"Good morning, Sakura.", Ino greeted.
"Good morning, Ino.", Sakura responed before the two walked next to each other.
"So, they actually let you graduate? What a surprise.", Ino spoke.
"Those classes are ancient history. We're both ninja now and we're both equal. I won't lose to you anymore.", Sakura responded before she moved on a little further ahead than Ino, who attempted to move ahead of her only for Sakura to go ahead further than Ino, which started the cycle of their rivalry all on their way to school.
Meanwhile, Naruto and Naguma grinned, the former chuckling as the latter only smiled before Shikamaru walked by and saw Naruto and Naguma, much to his slight surprise.
"Naguma? What are you doing here? I can understand Naruto being here, but I thought you dropped out.", Shikamaru responded.
"Well, actually, we both graduated.", Naguma responded, gesturing to her headband.
"Yeah, a lot went down a couple nights ago, but Naguma showed some potential. She even exposed a traitor in our midst. We're gonna be training together. How do you like that?", Naruto asked.
"Well, it's cool she got another chance.", Shikamaru grinned, making Naguma grin even more as she gave a light giggle.
"Let me put it to you this way. I look great in this head gear just like Naguma. Like they were made for us, believe it.", Naruto spoke before chuckling as Hinata grinned while sitting next to Naruto and next to Sasuke on another side as well.
"Hey. I think we're missing two people, aren't we?", Naguma guessed.
At that moment, both Sakura and Ino ran toward the classroom, trying to one-up each other before they both burst in, panting, neither one knowing they did so at the same time.
"I'm first!", the two shouted in unison.
"There you two are.", Naguma greeted.
"I win again, Sakura.", Ino spoke.
"Give it up. I had to look back to see you. My toe was at least a tenth of an inch ahead.", Sakura argued.
"Have you always been this delusional?", Ino retorted.
"Oh, there you two are. We've been waiting for you.", Naguma grinned before Sakura turned and grinned before coming down with a giggle.
"Hey, whoa, where are you going?", Ino asked.
"Sorry, but could you move a bit, please, Naguma?", Sakura asked.
"Uh, okay.", Naguma responded before moving back, allowing Sakura to see Sasuke.
"Uh..., good morning, Sasuke.", Sakura greeted before Sasuke then looked toward Sakura.
"Mind if I sit next to you?", Sakura asked before Ino went down and spoke to her against it.
"Back off, forehead. I'm sitting next to Sasuke.", Ino insisted.
"I was here first.", Sakura spoke.
"I walked into the classroom before you did. Everybody saw it.", Ino argued.
"Dream on.", Sakura responded before a few more students argued.
"Actually, I got here before either of you!", one of the students argued before more clamored on as Naguma grew quite alarmed and surprised by the mob.
"So did I. I'm sitting next to Sasuke.", another added.
"No, I am!", another argued.
"T-Take it easy, girls.", Naguma spoke as someone next to her grew quite bashful about how many were practically fighting over him while Sasuke only closed his eyes.
"Clueless.", Sasuke thought.
Meanwhile, Minato saw Sasuke through a sort of ball.
"Most promising new students, Sasuke and Sarada Uchiha. Is that them?", a ninja named Kakashi asked.
"Yeah. That's them, all right.", Minato responded.
"They're the only survivors left from the Uchiha clan.", one of the ninja added.
"That's right.", Minato responded before Kakashi then looked over to the other side of the girls arguing over who'd get to sit next to him.
"Naruto and Naguma Uzumaki, huh?", Kakashi asked.
Meanwhile, Naguma went over to Sasuke, much to Sarada's behest.
"Hey, what are you doing?", Sarada puzzled before Naguma stood in front of him, puzzling Sasuke.
"Hi. I'm Naguma Uzumaki. Nice to meet you.", Naguma greeted.
"Same here. I'm Sasuke.", Sauke greeted, astonishing the crowd before they saw Naguma and spoke their elated congratulations altogether.
"Congratulations on getting that head band, Naguma.", one of the students spoke, practically swamping Naguma with surprise.
"You hear that, sis? They love ya!", Naruto grinned, accidentally bumping Naguma to a point she fell on top of Sasuke in surprise, making Naruto cringe in shock and worry before turning back around.
"I'm sorry, Naguma. Did I bump you?", Naruto asked.
"What the...?", Sakura puzzled.
"I, uh...", Ino added as much to the girls' shock, Naguma was inadvertently kissing Sasuke before both moved away in shock with Sakura even more so as an explosion was practically set off behind her.
"Grrr...! That girl thinks she's some hot stuff trying to get with my Sasuke?! Nobody gets with Sasuke but me.", Sakura thought before collapsing.
Then, Naguma and Sasuke both turned away with slight gags for a moment.
"I am so sorry, Sasuke! I would never do that to you on purpose!", Naguma spoke.
"It's fine, I don't blame you. But please try to be careful next time, especially around your brother.", Sasuke spoke.
"Oops. Sorry, Naguma.", Naruto apologized before realizing something unsettling.
"Not good.", Naruto spoke before he turned to see Sakura and the other girls cross with him.
"Naruto. You are so dead.", Sakura threatened before Naruto sat up.
"Hey, whoa! It was an accident.", Naruto spoke before Sakura only cracked her knuckles.
"You're finished!", Sakura shouted before she and the other girls charged toward Naruto, who exclaimed before a sort of puff of smoke emerged where the one-sided brawl started as many girls clamored onto Naruto, pounding him as Naguma and Hinata sighed.
"I...guess I'll go back up to my seat now.", Naguma spoke before going up to sit down in her seat next to Sarada.
"I can't believe I just did that! I just wanted to greet him, not kiss him!", Naguma blushed.
"You didn't mean to kiss him, did you?", Sarada asked.
"How did you know?", Naguma asked.
"Not really hard to see what happened from up there.", Sarada responded.
Meanwhile, Minato saw the scuffle Naruto found himself in.
"As usual, Naruto found himself right in the middle of some trouble.", Minato sighed.
Later, Iruka was now speaking up.
"As of today, you are all ninjas. To get here, you've faced difficult trials and hardships. But that's nothing. What comes next will be far more difficult. Now, you are only Genin, 1st-level ninjas. All the Genin will be grouped into 3-man squads. Each squad will be led by a Jonin, an elite ninja.", Iruka stated before Sakura and Ino grew surprised.
"A 3-man squad?", Sakura and Ino thought in unison.
"Well, someone's gotta be in Sasuke's group. I wonder who.", Ino responded.
"I don't know.", Sakura responded before giving a glare toward Ino and thinking to herself.
"Cha! I'm gonna be with Sasuke, so stay away from him, you hag!", Sakura thought.
Meanwhile, Hinata had her own thoughts.
"A 3-man squad? Hopefully, I get to be with Naruto.", Hinata thought.
"Groups of three... That'll only slow me down.", Sasuke thought.
"I want to be with Hinata, considering how she was there for my sis and all, and..., well... I don't care as long as it's not Sasuke.", Naruto thought.
"We want each squad to have a balance of strength and abilities, so that's how we set them up. I will now announce the squads.", Iruka spoke as he held the papers before speaking up.
"Squad 7. Naruto Uzumaki.", Iruka added before Naruto looked up.
"Hinata Hyuga.", Izuka added, making Hinata look up.
"Yes, sir.", Hinata beamed before she and Naruto turned to each other with Hinata grinning with a blush as Naruto turned to her with a grin.
"Wow. Great for you, Hinata.", Naruto grinned to her.
"And Sasuke Uchiha.", Iruka added, puzzling Hinata as they turned to see Sasuke only out of puzzlement as he showed no reaction.
"What's with him?", Naruto asked.
"I don't know.", Hinata responded while Sakura grew disappointed.
"I'm doomed...", Sakura spoke sadly.
"Next, Squad 8. Kiba Izunuka.", Iruka spoke before Kiba smirked.
"Shino Aburame.", Iruka added before Shino moved his shades a little.
"And Sakura Haruno.", Iruka spoke before Sakura looked up.
"Well, at least Sakura didn't get in the group with Sasuke.", Ino smirked.
"I don't get it. What do you see in a guy like that? He's not so special.", Shikamaru commented.
"You are so beyond clueless, Shikamaru. Don't you get it?", Ino asked.
"No, I don't get it. 'Cause I'm not a girl.", Shikamaru responded before Ino sighed.
"You are so full of yourself. Jealousy's a terrible thing. I'd hate to be on your squad.", Ino commented before Iruka spoke up.
"Squad 10. Ino Yamanaka. Shikamaru Nara.", Iruka spoke, surprising Ino as Shikamaru smirked.
"Ha! Did you say something about hating to be on my squad?', Shikamaru asked with a smirk, making Ino growl.
"And... Choji Akimichi.", Iruka spoke as Choji was seen eating a bag of chips, worrying Ino greatly out of both despair and disgust.
"Not food boy, too!", Ino thought before Choji stopped eating for a moment and looked to his right.
"And finally, Squad 11: Naguma Uzumaki.", Iruka spoke, making her look up.
"Sarada Uchiha.", Iruka spoke, making Sarada look up before both turned to each other and grinned.
"And Sakuro Haruno.", Iruka spoke before they turned to see Sakuro next to Sarada.
"What's up?", Sakuro greeted.
"Uh..., hi, Sakuro.", Naguma greeted.
"Those are all the squads. After lunch, you'll meet your new Jonin teachers. Until then, class dismissed.", Iruka spoke before later, Naruto caught up to Hinata.
"Hey, Hinata! Since we're in the same group, I was thinking we could have lunch together and get to know each other.", Naruto spoke to Hinata.
"That sounds nice, Naruto. And we're going to eat at that noodle place, right?", Hinata grinned, making him grin with a slight chuckle.
Meanwhile, Naguma was with her teammates as Sakuro spoke with Sasuke going with Sarada.
"I get that Sasuke had the best scores out of all of us and all, but beyond that, I just don't get why everyone wanted to be with him so badly, especially Sakura.", Sakuro spoke.
"Well, the fact is, Sasuke and I are the only survivors of the Uchiha clan.", Sarada responded.
"You are?", Sakuro asked.
"Yeah. I'm not exactly comfortable talking about it, though.", Sarada responded.
"Neither of us are.", Sasuke added.
"I see.", Sakuro responded before Naguma, having heard about this, felt sad and wanted to help cheer her up.
"Oh. I think I might know something to help take your minds off it.", Naguma suggested.
"What do you mean?", Sasuke asked.
"Well, we could all have lunch together. I even know just the place. It's in a noodle shop not very far from the village.", Naguma grinned.
"A noodle shop? Well, I guess it's better than nothing. I accept.", Sasuke responded with Naguma grinning in response.
Act II
Later, as the group of 7 all ate lunch in Iruka, Naruto, and Naguma's usual spot, Sarada spoke to Naguma.
"You really picked a good spot to eat, Naguma, those noodles are delicious!", Sarada grinned before Naguma swallowed her ramen.
"Glad you like it.", Naguma grinned before she continued eating.
"Yeah. That ramen is just the best.", Naruto agreed, still eating.
Then, as Sakura was finishing up, Sakuro turned to her.
"You know, Sakura, I have to ask. What do you think of Naruto, anyway?", Sakuro asked.
"He knows about my feelings and he purposely tries to get in the way. He enjoys interfering and making me feel bad. Naruto, he doesn't understand one single thing about me. He's just annoying. All I really want is for Sasuke to accept me, Sakuro. That's all.", Sakura responded.
"You just want him to accept you?", Sakuro puzzled.
"Yes, that's how I feel. I'd do anything for that.", Sakura responded.
"Well, I'm sure we'll figure something out, Sakura.", Sakuro assured.
Soon after, everyone had finished their lunch.
"Well, what do you say we all meet our Jonin?", Naruto asked.
"Yeah!", almost everyone spoke in unison before Sasuke only grinned.
"They just better not disappoint.", Sasuke spoke.
Back at the classroom, everyone else had already left, leaving only Naruto, Naguma, Hinata, Sasuke, Sarada, and Sakuro in the room with Naruto looking out and peeping over the door.
"Naruto, I think you should sit down now.", Naguma warned cautiously.
"I don't want to! I can understand if it's Rin, but how come our teacher's the only one that's late? I'm ready to roll, believe it. The other groups already met their new teachers and took off on some other adventure or something. And Iruka-sensei is gone, too.", Naruto responded.
"We know that, okay?", Sakuro responded before Hinata noticed Naruto setting a chalkboard eraser up at the top of the doorway and chuckled, much to her behest.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?", Hinata asked as Sasuke, Sakuro, and Sarada only remained seated.
"Naruto!", Naguma scolded.
"That's what he gets for coming late. Surprise!", Naruto grinned as he got off with the chalkboard eraser wedged in-between spaces.
"You're just going to get yourself in more trouble, Naruto.", Naguma warned.
"Our teachers are Jonins, elite ninjas. Do you think they'd fall for that?", Sasuke asked.
"Sasuke's right. This isn't a very good idea.", Hinata added before someone opened the door as those who tried to stop Naruto either gasped or glared while Naruto giggled before the chalkboard eraser then fell and landed on Kakashi's head, making Naruto laugh.
"I got him! He totally fell for it!", Naruto chuckled just as Rin gave a sort of nervous grin as she walked in behind Kakashi.
"I'm sorry, Rin. I tried to stop him, but he just wouldn't listen.", Hinata apologized.
"It's okay. That is usually to be expected of him at times.", Rin assured.
"He actually fell for that cheap trick? Is this guy really a jonin?", Sasuke thought as Kakashi then picked up the eraser as Sarada and Sakuro only glared toward Naruto calmly.
"Hm, how can I put this? My impression of this group... you're a bunch of idiots.", Kakashi spoke, making the team lower their heads in disgust.
"But don't worry. We'll teach you everything we can. And I see you made some new friends of your own, Naguma.", Rin grinned.
"Yeah. That's right.", Naguma nodded.
"All right. Let's get started.", Rin grinned.
