A/N: And here, we have another chapter for the story. And I'll warn you, while normally light-hearted, it may have a bit of drama. And boy, is it gonna be heavy. Oh, and for those who complained about Amaya being a year younger than Max, I made a slight fix for that, and now, she is a year older than him, so feel free to check out the 2nd chapter first if you like. Other than that, enjoy. :)

A Goofy Movie

Chapter 3: Making A Date/Goofy's Determination

At the child photography studio in a discount store. Goofy was attempting to make a child smile by squeaking a rubber duck and making baby sounds, but to no avail.

"Come on, smile! Smiley wiley!", Goofy spoke as the child was on the verge of tears.

"Aw, come on, Kimmie! Gimme a big…", Goofy began before, with a strong squeeze, the queaker on the rubber ducky popped out with Goofy accidentally swallowing it and squeaking when he tried to speak before covering his mouth.

Kimmie seemed to like it and break into a big smile, though. With that, Goofy took advantage of this to begin taking pictures and playing peekaboo with the child when Pete came up behind Goofy.

"Stop goofing around! We got work to do!", Pete urged as he slapped him on the back and knocked the squeaker out of Goofy's throat.

"Okay, Kimmie, back to mommy, now.", Goofy spoke as Kimmie was reluctant to leave, but finally waved bye-bye as she was placed in her mother's arms with Gooyfy making baby sounds again.

"Oh, you have such a way with children!", the mother grinned as she left with her baby.

"You have such a way with children! Pleh!", Pete mocked before stepping forward as Goofy approached a little girl and her mother waiting for a picture.

"Okay, now! Who's next over he…", Goofy began before Pet knocked him out of the way.

"Step aside, Goof. Let a pro show you how it's done. Okay! Who's next over here? Heh, heh! Oh, hello precious...", Pete began before the little girl kicked Pete in the knee.

"Doh! Ow! You lucky woman! Come on here, honey! It's picture time!", Pete urged as the little girl giggled, ran, and hid.

"Peekaboo!", the little girl spoke as she perked up and hid again.

"She's so cute!", Pete spoke while looking at where the little girl perked up before the little girl perked up on the other side.

"Peekaboo!", the little girl shouted before laughing, inadvertently allowing Pete to finally catch her.

"Gosh, Pete. You sure are good with kids.", Goofy spoke.

"Oh, yeah. Well, they love me.", Pete responded as he held the little girl by the collar.

She attempted to hit Pete, who laughed, and failed.

"Why, PJ, he's been begging me to take him on vacation this summer.", Pete added.

"Really? Where are you going?", Goofy asked.

"Camping! Nothing like the great outdoors to strengthen the bond between a father and his son.", Pete responded as he stuck the little girl to the set floor. with a couple of pads of velcro with the little girl trying to get off and get away, but to no avail.

"Oh, Max would never go for anything like that. And Amaya? She hadn't gone camping since... well, it ain't easy to talk about.", Goofy responded as he gave the little girl a stuffed Bambi.

"Oooh, gimme, gimme, gimme.", the little girl spoke as she then clutched onto the stuffed Bambi.

"I don't know, Goof. Look, I know it's been quite some time since your wife passed away, may she rest in peace, but something's wrong when a kid won't spend time with his parents, especially because one of them was taken out of the picture. Why, for all you know, he's running around with some gang and stealing stuff and causing riots and…", Pete began as he even took the stuffed Bambi from the little girl, making her cry loudly.

"No, Max is a good kid. He'd never get mixed up in something like that.", Goofy assured.

He had no idea how wrong he was! In the main office of the high school, Max, Bobby, and even Amaya were in their chairs, waiting their turn to speak with the Principal just as Miss Maples, a secretary, was typing and humming the funeral march. Max was totally depressed.

"I'm a failure-complete loser! My one chance to impress Roxanne and I blew it!", Max groaned.

"What?! That's why you sabotaged the assembly?! Just so you could impress her?! Max if I lose everything I worked so hard to get because of you, Roxanne thinking you're a loser will be the least of your worries when I get through with you.", Amaya threatened angrily just before Bobby revealed something he has been working on for a while.

"Uh, huh! Max! Look! It's the leaning tower of cheeza!", Bobby spoke before stuffing the cheese in his mouth before PJ came out of the Principal's office with Peg dragging him away by the ear as PJ chanted "Ow" in slight pain.

"When we get home, you and I are gonna have a long talk, buster.", Peg scolded.

"Mom, that hurts.", PJ groaned.

"Hey, PJ! Lucky!", Bobby spoke with a laugh.

"Amaya Goof... luckily, your friends were able to vouch for you and your name has been cleared. You may leave now.", Mazur assured.

"Oh, thanks so much, Mr. Mazur. I promise this will never happen again next year. I will make sure of it", Amaya assured in relief and in bit of a glare toward Max before leaving the room.

"Robert Zimmeruski.", Mazur spoke up with the door open before flicking his finger.

"Okay, I'm coming! Max, here. Guard this with your life, dude.". Bobby spoke as he handed Max his can of cheese back before wheeling the dolly of video equipment into Principal Mazur's office, which had an apparent collection of paddles in the background, and even giving Max a double thumbs up.

"Hey, Mazu-ur! What's up, bro!", Bobby spoke before he shut the door to Principal Mazur's office.

Then, Max put his head in his hands in shame just as Roxanne and Stacey came by the office.

"My parents' air-condition went on the fritz, so I thought with all those kids in my house, the place will be like a sauna, so I'm all freaked out, but then I thought, "Like, use it!" So my theme is gonna be: "Powerline Goes Rain Forest"! Too much? Roxanne, are you listening?", Stacy asked as she noticed Roxanne looking at the downhearted Max and walking over to him when Stacey gave her a push toward him.

"No, I don't want to…", Roxanne began before Stacey interrupted.

"Talk to him!", Stacey whispered before Roxanne cleared her throat a couple of times.

Unfortunately, Max still had his head in his hands and paid no attention, still depressed, before Roxanne shrugged at Stacey.

"Tap him!", Stacey urged whisperingly before Roxanne tapped Max, who immediately sat up, startled, causing Roxanne's books and papers to go flying.

Max looked at Roxanne and smiled before he got up out of the chair and then started to help Roxanne pick up the papers and books.

"Gosh, I'm..I'm sorry.", Max apologized.

"It's okay. Really.", Roxanne assured before she and Max reached for the same paper at the same time with Max's hand touching hers.

They stayed that way for a moment before Max withdrew his hand, a bit embarrassed.

"Um, I liked your dance.", Roxanne grinned.

"Yeah. Yeah? Uh, Yeah! It's from Powerline's new video!", Max grinned.

"I know! He's, he's totally a genius!", Roxanne grinned.

"Uh, yeah! He, he's doing a concert next week in L.A.!", Max spoke.

"Oh, yeah! Stacey is showing it at her party.", Roxanne spoke.

"Yeah!", Max responded.

"Yeah!", Roxanne repeated before Max fidgeted and fumbled for a while.

"Um, uh, Roxanne, I was, uh, sorta kinda thinkin' that maybe I'd, uh, ask you to go with me, that is, to the … party. Of course if you don't want to I'd completely understand!", Max asked.

"Well, I was, sorta kinda thinking that … I'd love to.", Roxanne responded.

"Yeah?", Max asked.

"Yeah!", Roxanne responded.

"Good!", Max grinned.

"Great!", Roxanne responded.

"Terrific!", Max added.

"Wonderful!", Roxanne grinned.

"All right!", Max responded.

"Okay!", Roxanne responded before Stacey grabbed Roxanne's arm and started to drag her away.

"Come on, Roxanne. We don't want to belabor the moment, now, do we?", Stacey asked.

"Well, I'd better be going.", Roxanne spoke.

"I'll, uh, call you later!", Max assured.

"Okay! Bye! Bye.", Roxanne spoke while laughing a bit nervously before leaving the office.

"See? That wasn't so bad! I told you men are easy to deal with.", Stacey assured.

Meanwhile, Max was quite excited.

YES! SHE SAID 'YES'! WOO HOO HOO HOO! EVERYBODY MAMBO!", Max shouted before grabbing Ms. Maples and mamboing with her.

"It's not my break yet!", Ms. Maples spoke before, hearing the commotion, Bobby and Principal Mazur came out of the office.

"Yeah! Dance with her! Groove with her!", Bobby encouraged.

"Miss Maples!", Mazur shouted.

"Yes, sir!", Ms. Maples spoke.

"Get that boy's father on the phone at once!", Mazur urged.

"Right away, sir!", Ms. Maples responded.

Meanwhile, at work, the phone rang before Goofy answered.

"Hello.", Goofy spoke.

"Yes, Mr. Goof. This is Principal Mazur. I'm calling in regard to your son, Maximillian.", Mazur spoke.

"Max? Oh, my gosh! Is he hurt?", Goofy spoke in worry.

"No, Mr. Goof. He's in trouble!", Mazur corrected.

"Trouble? What kind of trouble?", Goofy asked.

"Dressed like a gang member...", Mazur began.

"Gang member?", Goofy puzzled.

"…your son caused the entire student body to break into a riotous frenzy!", Mazur exclaimed.

"Riot? It couldn't be my…", Goofy began before Mazur finished.

"If I were you, Mr. Goof, I'd seriously re-evaluate the way you're raising your child before he ends up IN THE ELECTRIC CHAIR!", Mazur shouted, worrying Goofy greatly before Mazur hung up.

"The electric chair?", Goofy gasped in shock before he let the phone drop.

"What am I gonna do?", Goofy asked worriedly.

Later, Goofy walked back home, riddled with sadness and worry, only to notice, or rather hear, Amaya venting her frustrations in her room in anger.

"Why are you making this hard for us, Max?! Why can't you understand that I'm trying to keep what's left of this family together?! Why can't things go well in life without the threat of you ruining everything I've been striving for?!", Amaya shouted before starting to sob, her anger now spent just as Goofy noticed through the crack around the door and felt even worse before Amaya then looked at a picture of her and her mother camping for the last time, her sadness easing a bit.

"Oh, mom... What am I doing wrong? Why can't I keep this family together...? I wish you were still here with us...", Amaya sighed sadly.

"Lake Destiny...", Goofy realized, having noticed the picture in Amaya's hands.

"What...?", Amaya sniffled in puzzlement before Goofy gasped excitedly and shouted.

"Lake Destiny, Idaho!", Goofy exclaimed, startling her.

"Dad?! What were you doing here?! And what do you mean?", Amaya puzzled.

"Look. The last time we went fishing was when your mother was still around, right?", Goofy asked.

"Uh, yeah. Why?", Amaya puzzled.

"Because this time, we're doing this to honor her memory. After all, nothing like the great outdoors to strengthen the bond between father and child! Pete said so himself.", Goofy grinned.

"I don't know, Dad. It just wouldn't feel the same without her.", Amaya spoke, unsure of the decision.

"At least we can try. For her.", Goofy assured before Amaya sighed after a moment.

"Well, all right. As long as we're doing this for her.", Amaya sighed before Goofy danced away to get ready to pack.

"I'm going fishing! I'm going fishing with my boy!", Goofy shouted excitedly.

"Wait. How long were you standing there?", Amaya puzzled.

A/N: Looks like we know what was going on in Amaya's head. When she was little, Amaya and her mother used to be very close until the day the latter passed away. So, you can guess how Amaya gets now. And it looks like Goofy was determined to make things right not just for Max, but also for Amaya to help shoulder the burden, too. Even I wonder myself about how this would turn out. :)
