A/N: Looks like this is where Max and the others would start to grow close to one another. Oh, and there would also be a third dream sequence for this later at night in the Neptune Inn, which would be more touching and delightful than the last, which was a literal nightmare, so that's saying something. Anyhoo, enjoy. :)

A Goofy Movie

Chapter 6: A New Navigator/The Bearer of Bad News

The next morning, the group of four were now in a sort of diner as the dinner bell rang with four plates being served.

"Pickup!", the chef shouted.

"Hold your horses!", the waitress responded as she then picked up the dishes of food in them and then made her way to the table where Max, Goofy, Roxanne, and Amaya were waiting for their food.

"Short stack?", the waitress asked.

"Right here.", Goofy responded.

"Here you go, hon.", the waitress spoke as she then set a plate of pancakes down in front of Goofy.

"Omelet?", the waitress asked next.

"Right there.", Amaya spoke.

"Here you go.", the waitress spoke as she then laid the plate down in front of Amaya.

"Omelet with Hash Browns?", the waitress asked.

"Over here, please.", Roxanne responded.

"Here you go.", the waitress responded as she set the plate down in front of Roxanne before turning to Max.

"Eggs? Eggs? Eggs!", the waitress spoke to Max, snapping him out of his squalor.

"Oh, oh! Yeah. Yeah, right here. Sorry.", Max apologized.

"Here you go, cutie.", the waitress spoke as she then laid down a dish of eggs and bacon, which made a smiley face, in front of him.

But while Goofy and Amaya were eating, they noticed Max barely touching his eggs with Roxanne sharing some of her hash browns with Max just as the former then noticed the map and keys and decided that it's time something change.

"Max? I think we need to talk about this.", Goofy spoke to Max, holding out the map, puzzling him.

"Seems to new you need to start taking some responsibility around here.", Goofy spoke before he then tapped the coffee cup.

"Excuse me, uh, can I have your attention, please? I, Goofy, hereby dub my son, Maximillian official navigator and head which-wayer of this here road trip.", Goofy spoke before everyone applauded.

"Isn't that nice?", one of the patrons in the restaurant grinned.

"Yee-haw!", another shouted excitedly.

"Seriously?", Max spoke in surprise.

"Congratulations, Max.", Roxanne grinned.

"I'm not even looking at the map anymore. As a matter of fact, you can pick all the stops from here to Lake Destiny. I trust ya whole-heartedly, son.", Goofy grinned.

"To the Open Road.", Goofy grinned as he held out his coffee mug.

"To the Open Road.", Roxanne and Amaya spoke in unison as they held out their cups.

"To the Open... Road.", Max spoke with a surprised grin before he, Goofy, Roxanne, and Amaya did a toast.

Then, the journey began as they first stopped at the beach where while Max and Goofy went waterskiing (although the former just went on a water jet), Roxanne and Amaya were sunbathing. Later, afterward, a tire popped out, prompting the group to open the trunk to get the spare tire only to bump into each other for a moment before Goofy grabbed the spare tire and then closed the trunk door. At a sort of theme park, later, Max and Goofy were riding on a rollercoaster with the former enjoying himself while Goofy was quite terrified and got sick as meanwhile, Roxanne and Amaya were playing carnival games, mainly the water target game where a balloon fills up with water before the balloons popped with Roxanne and Amaya tied as the winners before then picking a couple of friendship bracelets just as Goofy came out of the bathroom and walked out only to see Max holding out a tray of nachos, a chili dog, fries, and some soda, much to Goofy's dismay as hd gagged and rushed back inside to Barf. Later, the group even went to a monster truck rally with Goofy covering his ears as it was too loud as Max eventually noticed before having a sort of worried look for him and later heading off to somewhere where Earl's Amazing House of Yarn resided as the world's largest.

"Oh, boy!", Goofy shouted as he then grabbed Max and brought him over.

Later, the four were now at New Orleans as a mime was pulling on a sort of "rope" before Goofy went over to the mime and then got out "scissors" before cutting the "rope", which apparently dropped a piano on top of the mime, which shocked the four before Goofy and Max whistler as they stepped away. Then, as Goofy pumped the new tire with air while Roxanne and Amaya waited inside the car, Max tried to remove the first bolt of the popped tire as best he could before the tool only popped off and flew like a boomerang, causing the jack to be dislodged from the car with the broken tire popping off and landing into Goofy's arms while the new tire was kicked away and then miraculously placed in the empty slot, allowing the car to be on equal footing, much to the four's surprise before they later took a picture inside the caverns, which was apparently full of bats from on top before they ran the group out the caverns while flying after them before they were now in a baseball game with the player hitting the ball before Max tried to get the ball only to fumble it with Goofy then trying to get it only to fall down with Amaya falling down as well, their foot grabbing onto the ropes and stretching downward, crashing toward the ground, breaking through the floorboards to see a famous baseball player, who then noticed Goofy and Amaya as they caught the ball before giving it to the player, who signed it and then gave it back to the two Goofs, who bounced back up and then landed near Max and Roxanne before they later bolted the new tire into the car and high-fived each other and later drive to the Neptune Inn. When they arrived, they checked out a room and saw the room in amazement.

"Gawrsh...", Goofy spoke in amazement.

"Wow...", Roxanne added.

"Whoa! Check out the bed.", Max spoke as he then jumped backwards onto one of the two waterbeds, both of which have fish swimming in them.

"Check out the dresser. Coral!", Goofy spoke in amazement.

"Nice lamp.", Amaya commented as she flipped the switch for the mermaid-like nightlight on and off.

"Classy choice, there, navigator.", Goofy grinned when suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"This is the police! We've got the place surrounded, see?! You Goofs come out with your hands up!", Pete shouted before bursting into the hotel room and laughing.

"You should've seen the look on your face!", Pete laughed as Peg scolded Pete while clearing her throat, making Pete's laughter die down a little as he sighed.

"That wasn't funny, Pete. You scared them out of their minds!", Peg scolded.

"A-hyuck! You really had him fooled, Pete.", Goofy grinned.

"Me?! You jumped out of your skin!", Max playfully argued, pushing Goofy.

"Uh-Uh. I was just pretendin' for your sake.", Goofy responded.

"Oh, right, sure!", Max playfully doubted.

"Did too!", Goofy grinned.

"Did not!", Max argues before he and Goofy laughed as Amaya, Roxanne, and Peg grinned while Pete was befuddled.

"Aw. It's nice to see you guys get along.", Peg grinned.

"Ain't that the truth.", Amaya grinned before Pete then spoke up.

"Oh, ain't this sweet?", Pete grinned before pulling Goofy away from Max.

"Don't let him fool you with that buddy-buddy act now. Under your thumb.", Pete spoke as he then pressed his thumb on Goofy's nose and pushed it down before the nose slid past the thumb and bounced up and down.

"So, since we're all palsy-walsy here, how about letting me hook up the RV?", Pete asked.

"Well...,", Goofy began.

"Oh, it's just a little, tiny extension cord. You'll hardly even notice it.", Pete assured.

"Okay.", Goofy responded.

"Great! Pj! Pistol!", Pete called just as PJ came on while holding a big cord as Pistol followed behind him before Pete instructed him to move it to the other side of the room with a point of his finger.

"What about me?", Pistol asked.

"Why don't you take a load off here?", Pete suggested.

"Okay.", Pistol responded.

"Hey, Goof. Why don't you order us a pizza? This might take a while.", Pete spoke as he walked forward.

Sometime later, Goofy carried a box of pizza over to Max and PJ.

"Here you go, kids. I'm gonna go check out the hot tub.", Goofy spoke as he then left.

"Uh, okay, sir.", PJ spoke.

"All right.", Max grinned before Roxanne and Amaya turned up in their own swimsuits.

"Roxanne? You're going to the hot tub, too?", Max asked.

"Yeah. We're just gonna relax for a while. So..., see you soon.", Roxanne spoke as she and Amaya left.

"I can't believe you, man. Whatever made you think your dad would fall for a stupid idea like that?", PJ smirked as he picked up his slice of pizza.

"It wasn't stupid.", Max retorted as he picked up his own.

"Come on, it was really stupid. Changing the map?", PJ smirked, not knowing that Pete was about to come in when he overheard this and grew suspicious, listening near the door.

"I-I...I didn't know what I was doing, all right? I was... I was panicked.", Max responded.

Meanwhile, the jets in the hot tub turned on, letting loose several bubbles with Roxanne and Amaya already getting in as they spoke.

"Hey, uh, Amaya?", Roxanne asked.

"Yeah?", Amaya spoke.

"Have you, uh, oh! Had a crush on someone? Hypothetically.", Roxanne blushed as she felt a hit spot in the hot tub while getting in before getting used to the hot water.

"I don't think so. Why do you a...?", Amaya began before she realized something.

"Wait. You have a crush on Max, don't you?", Amaya asked.

"What? N-Now, whoever told you that?", Roxanne asked with a blush, trying to deny it.

"There's no use denying it now, Roxy. It was obvious the moment you came along on this road trip. You even clung to him the whole time.", Amaya responded, making Roxanne sigh.

"You're right. I do have a crush on him. It's been that way ever since I first met him.", Roxanne responded.

"Well? You should just go and tell him, then. Because Max has a crush on you, too.", Amaya responded.

"He does?", Roxanne puzzled in surprise.

"Yeah. He even nearly messed up my assembly just so he could impress you. Why else would he do that?", Amaya asked.

"You know? You're right. Maybe I will go tell Max how I feel.", Roxanne grinned.

"That's the spirit.", Amaya grinned.

But before the two girls could leave, they heard a couple of voices nearby.

"So, um... you and your son seem to be, uh, gettin' along just hunky-dory, huh?", Pete spoke, puzzling Roxanne and Amaya.

"Yeah, it's been great! You know, it's funny, but none of your techniques worked for me. The harder I tried, the worse it got. Once I eased up, things just clicked!", Goofy explained as Roxanne and Amaya listened in with neither Goofy nor Pete knowing that they were listening.

"Oh, that's swell. So, there's no problems then, huh?", Pete asked.

"Not a one.", Goofy responded.

"That's, uh... I just hate to be the bearer of bad news, but uh...", Pete began.

"What is it, Pete?", Goofy asked.

"Your kid's dupin' ya.", Pete responded.

"What do you mean?", Goofy asked.

"Well, I heard the little mutant tellin' P.J. that he changed the map, so you're headin' straight to LA, pal.", Pete responded, earning a silent gasp from Amaya.

"What?", Goofy asked.

"Oh, you tried, Goof. He's just a bad kid, that's all.", Pete responded.

"I don't believe you.", Goofy retorted calmly.

"What?", Pete puzzled.

"I don't believe ya, Pete.", Goofy repeated.

"Well, hey, don't take my word for it. Check your map.", Pete chuckled a bit.

"I don't need to check the map. I trust my son. You know, maybe Max isn't all the things that you think a son should be. But... he loves me.", Goofy responded.

"Hey. My son respects me.", Pete responded.

"Yeah.", Goofy responded before then taking his leave.

"Check the map, Goof!", Pete urged as Goofy left.

"What? Why would he...?",

"No... That can't be true... It can't be...! It just can't...! He's lying...! He has to be...!", Amaya panicked in denial while whispering.

"Amaya, calm down.", Roxanne spoke.

"There's only one way to know for sure.", Amaya spoke before she took off.

"Amaya, wait!", Roxanne urged as she headed off after her.

Meanwhile, though, just as Goofy got to the car and was about to check the map for a moment, but hesitated, Amaya burst in and frantically opened the front door to get to the dashboard open it, and see, much to her horror, the changed locations as Goofy also noticed.

"Max...? How could you...?!", Amaya gasped, ready to sob before bursting into tears as Roxanne comforted her and Goofy gave a sad look for her.

Later, Goofy, Amaya, and Roxanne went inside with Max turning to see the three of them.

"Hi, guys.", Max greeted.

"Hi, Max.", Roxanne greeted as Amaya glared angrily at him while Goofy looked quite sad.

"Sorry about the mess. I-I'll clean it up.", Max assured before the three went to bed with Goofy and Amaya on one bed and Roxanne on another.

"I think I'd better go.", PJ whispered.

"See ya, Peej.", Max whispered.

"Don't forget... Powerline!", PJ whispered.

"Shh!", Max whispered.

Later, for the third time, Max had once again found himself on a familiar wheat field blown by the wind.

"Max…", Roxanne called.

"Roxanne…?" Max said in confusion.

"Max…", Roxanne called again before Max then ran through the wheat, parting them to clear the way toward Roxanne, who was on top of a tall pedestal once again before Max finally caught up.

"Oh, there you are, Max. I was waiting for you.", Roxanne grinned with a slight giggle.

"Well, I was looking for you." Max grinned in a romantic tone.

This earned a light-hearted giggle from the woman before she jumped up and fell toward Max, who managed to catch her this time, although not without being pinned.

"Oops. Guess I really pinned you, huh, Max?", Roxanne blushed.

"Oh, it's alright. Honestly, I hadn't noticed." Max said with a chuckle.

Then, Roxanne giggled in response as she rolled off Max and went next to him with both giggling and looking at each other with Max sighing. Roxanne started to pucker her lips for a kiss like in the first dream before, unfortunately, the sky changed to overcast gray again, but this time, the wheat changed to bushes with rosebuds that have yet to bloom and Roxanne grew quite puzzled and looked surprised as she saw that Max now had incredibly large buck teeth, but had yet to notice.

"Uh, Max? Since when did your teeth get that big?", Roxanne puzzled in curiosity.

"What do you mean?" Max asked in confusion before looking at his teeth and yelling in panic.

"Oh, no. Not again!" Max said.

Then, all of a sudden, Roxanne felt an odd tingling sensation in her body.

"Why do I feel so funny?", Roxanne puzzled before that sensation spread to her hands and quickly looked up at them to notice her hands, starting with her right, were starting to grow, as Roxanne watched in odd elation and gave quite a giggle before her left hand started growing next.

"This is great.", Roxanne grinned.

"What are you talking about? This is awful!" Max said as he was getting taller.

Then, Roxanne's feet started to grow bigger before they eventually burst out from her shoes, which became quite torn, with her dress the next to tear up from the bottom of her dress as she grew taller as well up until the tears also appeared on the sides of her dress, splitting the dress in two, the girl unable to help but giggle with a blush.

"Whoo! That's more like it.", Roxanne grinned just before her ears grew longer and her chest suddenly puffed up, making her exclaim a bit with a giggle and a blush, her teeth now shown to be just as buck-toothed, but in a beautiful way.

"Why are you so okay with this?!" Max said as his transformation was completed and he looked exactly like his dad.

"Because this is what I want to grow up to be.", Roxanne responded as her own transformation was completed as well, leaving Roxanne looking exactly like Goofy's late wife.

"With you.", Roxanne added.

"Wait, really?" Max asked with a bit of a hopeful smile.

"Yeah. Truth is, I've always...loved you. Right from your first 'a-hyuck.", Roxanne responded, feeling her own Goofy laugh forcing its way out of her throat, making Roxanne blush a bit with a giggle.

Then, Max started laughing and felt his own goofy laugh force it's way out of his throat as well with the rosebuds starting to blossom and the clouds beginning to part, the sunlight shining down on the transformed couple before Roxanne felt one more tingle coming along, making her buck up in both surprise and wonder.

"Max? I feel...sooooooooo...proud of you.", Roxanne spoke as her voice and mindset changed into that of Max's mother like in Max's last dream, only this time, it was for the better.

"Mom?!" Max said with a confused look on his face.

"Look how you've grown, Max. It's just so good to see you again. By the way, how's Amaya doing?", Max's mother asked.

"She's…" Max tries to make up a lie but can't do it anymore.

"She's miserable without you, Mom." Max says while his mother gasped in shock before quickly giving a look of sadness.

"She's been trying to keep our family together, but nothing is working, and to be honest I don't want it to because I want to be able to live my life." Max said in a disheartened voice while his mother has an even sadder look on her face.

"I mean, ever since you passed, we haven't been the same. It's like when you died, you took a piece of us with you." Max said, feeling terrible about saying this to his mom, who understood what Max seemed to have been thinking right away.

"I get it. It's because you found a woman in your life worth doing anything for, right?", Max's mother guessed.

"How did you…" Max started before being interrupted by her.

"Believe it or not, that's the same way your father first met me and eventually got married after a while. Still, he came to understand that while he had his own life now, he still had some of his relatives that wanted to be, and are now, a part of it. Kinda like how your father wants to be a part of your life. And as for Amaya, well, if she was trying to keep this family together, that kinda goes to show how determined she is. That is true strength: never giving up on something so precious no matter what obstacles get in the way. And if and when she starts to fall apart, well, you could give her a sign that would help her push forward and try again.", Max's mother assured before Max sighed as he realized something.

"I guess I was being kind of a jerk to Amaya. And my dad, too. Without even realizing it.", Max sighed.

"All that matters is that you know what you're doing is wrong and you're willing to admit that. It's a good step forward. And now, you know what to do from here, right?", Max's mother asked.

"Yeah, I do." Max said before wrapping his arms around his mother in a tight hug with tears running down his face.

"I love you, Mom. And I really miss you." Max said with a sad but happy quivering voice while his mother returned the hug.

"I miss you, too, Maxie. Oh. I almost forgot. If Amaya doesn't seem like she's in a mood, could you tell her I said, 'Hi'?", Max's mother requested.

"I will." Max said as everything started to fade into darkness.

When the darkness cleared, Max and Roxanne found themselves kissing each other in their sleep when they woke up, leaving the two quite equally surprised.

"Aah!", Roxanne shouted as she instinctively yelled back in surprise with Max reacting the same way.

"Aah!", Max exclaimed as he woke up.

"W-Were we just...?!", Max began.

"Kissing in our sleep...?!", Roxanne finished before they both tried to speak over each other, but couldn't find the words before they blushed to each other.

"Roxanne, I... I've always loved you. From the first time we went to school together. Not exactly 'together' together, but, you know what I mean.", Max responded.

"What a coincidence. I've always loved you, too.", Roxanne responded.

"Really?", Max asked.

"From the very first time I heard you laugh. 'Ayuk'.", Roxanne grinned before the two giggled with Max laughing a bit before he then gave a goofy laugh of his own, making Roxanne giggle a bit as they both blushed to each other.

"Tell you what. How about we really start hanging out? After the vacation is over, that is.", Max grinned.

"I'd love that, Max.", Roxanne grinned.

"Great. Well, uh... good night.", Max spoke before turning away, although still in bed.

"Good night.", Roxanne grinned before turning the opposite direction and closing her eyes.

As Max looked at Amaya, he whispered to himself.

"It's official, Amaya. Powerline or no, California or Idaho, left or right, I'm going to make this right. For Mom.", Max vowed.

A/N: Aw. Max and Roxanne are officially gonna hit it off together as boyfriend and girlfriend after the vacation. :) And it looks like Max is starting to want to make things right. Let's hope he can stick to it long enough. :)
