A/N: Hello. :) It was a bit difficult, but for all those who love this movie, this story is for you die-hard Studio Ghibli fans whose favorite character is Haru. And this time, along with Anne Hathaway as Haru, Cary Elwes as Baron, and Peter Boyle as Muta/Renaldo Moon, and Elliott Gould as Toto, there would also be some OC's, like for example, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kotaro, and Yuri Lowenthal voices a cat with the same name. And there is also a special surprise near the end of the chapter. Enjoy. :)

The Cat Returns: Haru the Princess of Cats

Chapter 1: A Royal Rescue; The Transformation Begins

"If you find yourself troubled by something mysterious or or a problem that's hard to solve, there's a place you can go where you always find help. You just need to look for it."

It all started one day when an alarm clock rang before being stopped by a girl named Meki as she briefly went back to sleep. That is, until realizing what day it is.

"Oh, shoot!", Meki shouted as she darted out of the room, went into her sister's room, and shook her urgently.

"Haru, wake up now! We're going to be late!", Meki urged as she shook Haru awake.

"Not again!", Haru shouted with a gasp.

At the same time, their mother walked over to the stairs and shouted.

"Aren't you two up yet?", Haru's mother shouted.

"We're up! We're up!", Haru assured before she and Meki each hurriedly put on their clothes and rushed downstairs with their carrying cases, but not before Haru headed back to the mirror for a little fix as she stroked her skirt down quickly to smooth it down.

"Whatever.", Haru spoke before rushing back down.

Meanwhile, as Haru and Meki's mother sat down to eat some toast with lettuce leaves and an egg on top, their sister, Meku (who happens to be HAru's twin) shouted to the two of them.

"Hurry up, girls! Your food's getting cold!", Meku shouted before the two finally arrived downstairs.

"Hi, Mom. Hi, Meku.", Haru greeted.

"Morning. Here. Maku made this for you and Meki in case this happened again.", Meku responded.

"He did?", Haru asked before Meku nodded.

"Aw, thanks. You shouldn't have.", Haru thanked.

"Well, don't you three have school to get to?", Maku asked.

"Oh. Yeah. Gotta go.", Meki spoke.

"Have a nice day.", their mother spoke before Haru, Meki, and Meku took off for school, passing by a couple of stray cats.

Then, the trio ran across the streets, even coming a bush and getting stuck for a moment before Haru eventually lost her shoe as it slipped off.

"Oh, my shoe!", Haru shouted before it landed on the ground.

"Oh, no! We have to go and get it quick before...", Meki began only for a team of baseball players to block her path as they marched in front of them.

"Too late...", meki groaned before Meku dashed off.

"Hey! Where are you going?!", Haru shouted.

"Sorry, girls, but I can't get late!", Meku shouted, earning a groan from Haru and a growl from Meki.

Later, at school, the teacher was drawing some words on the chalk board when Haru and Meki tried to sneak in.

"The Kingdom is gone. Yet the mountains and rivers remain and the castle is draped in the vivid green of Spring. Haru, Meki, we can all see both of you sneaking in, so just get to your seats, please.", the teacher requested.

"Yes, sir!", Haru and Meki reacted at the same time, earning laughter from most of the class.

"Busted.", a girl named Hiromi commented, leaving Haru and Meki feeling down with Meku noticing this and feeling bad.

Later, the three were outside on top of a rooftop when a ball zipped by and bounced off Haru's head, surprising her a bit.

"Sorry!", one of the girls shouted as Haru, Meki, and Meku turned to see who tossed it up like that while Hiromi laughed.

When school was over for the day, the group of four walked down the street and onto the sidewalks.

"It's not fair.", Haru spoke.

"Tell me about it. First, we have a bad morning, and then everyone laughs at us in class.", Meki added.

"Even Machida was laughing, wasn't he?", Haru sighed.

"Yeah. Pretty hard.", Hiromi responded.

"Not helping.", Meki growled with her teeth clenched.

"Who cares if he was? At least you made him happy. Same as everyone else. Besides, I thought school went great for me.", Meku responded.

"Why me? Why are all these bad things happening to me?", Haru complained.

"Hey, I'm in the same boat as you, right now, Haru. How do you think I feel?", Meki responded.

"Hmm. Maybe it's some kind of weird omen, guys. Like your lives're gonna get a whole lot worse real soon.", Hiromi casually responded.

"Again, not helping!", Meki growled again.

Meanwhile, a few cats, all of which were Russian Blue while one of them was odd-eyed, were walking out the store with one of them holding a gift box.

"That's odd. Never seen them.", the woman spoke toward the 3 cats, one of which was heavy while another was light and the 3rd was at a medium size, who passed by with a sort of medium or large white wolf watching them sternly.

"Why are you two worried about what Machida thinks anyway?", Hiromi asked.

"Hey, I care what everyone thinks.", Meki responded.

"Me? I just think he's so darn cool.", Haru added.

"If you love him so much, why don't you marry him, much less ask out?", Meku asked.

"What if he has a girlfriend? I'd look like a jerk.", Haru only responded.

But Hiromu wasn't afraid to speak her mind.

"He does have a girlfriend. A freshman. Really cute.", Hiromi teased.

"Seriosuly?! Then why would you even tell her to flirt with him, you smart aleck?!", Meki exclaimed.

"'Cause I wanted to have a good laugh when he blows you off.", Hiromi responded.

"You are such a terrible person! How could you even think such a thing?!", Meki exclaimed crossly as the 3 cats passed by them.

"Machida's not that cool, anyway. My Tsuge is much cooler and...", Hiromi began.

"Will you just shut up already?! It's bad enough that Haru and I don't even have girlfriends because of how awful our lives are, neither does Meku yet, for that matter and her life's a bit better than ours, and we don't need you making it worse by talking about your boyfriend!", Meki exclaimed just as the three cats passed by her and the others.

"What in the heck was that?", Hiromi asked.

"Cat burglars.", Meku responded before she and the others turned to notice the 3 cats getting ready to move.

"Where do they think they're going?", Hiromi puzzled.

"Beats me?", Meku puzzled.

"Hey! Dumb cats! You'll get yourselves killed!", Hiromi shouted before the three went along anyway just as the green light appeared, allowing the truck to start moving.

"Oh, well, they're just cats.", Hiromi spoke indifferently.

"This doesn't look so good.", Haru spoke, puzzling Haru.

"Yeah. I think you might be right.", Meku agreed as one of the cats dropped the gift box and desperately tried to pick it back up, but with much difficulty as Haru, Meku, and Meki ran toward the 3 cats, each holding a lacrosse stick.

"Ah! What are they doing?", Hiromi asked before Haru, Meku, and Meki suddenly charged out into the street.

"Guys, don't!", Hiromi shouted as the trio ran.

While they were in difficulties, the white wolf widened his eyes as he saw that the cats were about to get run over by the truck before dashing off after them.

"So, I should be here in...", the driver began before he tried to stop his truck in time just as Haru, Meku, and Meki charged in with no hesitation and picked up each cat, especially the one trying to pick up the gift box, which was picked up just in time, astounding the white wolf who noticed and stopped in surprise.

"No way, what a catch!", Hiromi spoke in surprise before the trio barely made it past the bus with haru breaking the stick, knocking the cat off before Haru exclaimed while tripping while Meku barely managed to regain her balance as did Meki with the truck zooming away now.

"Hey, you stupid jerk!", Hiromi shouted.

Meanwhile, Meku and Meki noticed Haru on her knees just as the white wolf caught up.

"Are you okay, Haru?", Meku asked.

"Yeah, Meku. That was close.", Haru spoke before noticing the 3 cats standing upright and one of the 3 cats brushing the dirt off him.

"Are you three okay?", the wolf asked.

"Yes. Thanks to them. That was quite a brave act on our account. We are extremely grateful.", the first cat spoke.

"Yeah. We honestly didn't think we'd make it here in one piece.", the heavy cat responded.

"I just hope that you three haven't hurt yourselves.", another responded, making Meku squeak in surprise.

"D-Did you three just talk?", Meku asked in surprise.

"Oh. Pardon me. I am Prince Lune. And those are my brothers, Kotaro and Yuri.", Lune introduced.

"Hey, there.", Kotaro greeted.

"It's a pleasure.", Yuri grinned.

"Oh. And I mustn't forget about Kintarou. He's our watch dog.", Lune added.

"Technically, I'm a watch wolf.", Kintarou corrected.

"The point is, we don't mean to be rude, but we're in quite a hurry. We'll return later to thank you properly.", Lune spoke as he bowed.

"But wait. Where are you all going?", Haru asked, puzzling Lune a bit.

"Back to my home in the Cat Kingdom. Why do you ask?", Lune replied.

"Cat Kingdom? Is it okay if I go with you three? That sounds like a beautiful place.", Haru asked, surprising Meki and Meku as they exclaimed in surprise.

"Well, I don't see why not. My father would want to thank you in person anyway.", Lune grinned before he and the others took off with Haru giggling as she followed them just as Hiromi caught up.

"Haru! Meki! Meku!", Hiromi shouted before she noticed Haru heading off with Lune, Kataro, and Yuri as well as Kintarou.

"Well, so much for your sister's stick. But at least you three rescued those stupid cats.", Hiromi spoke, suddenly making Meki ticked off.

"THEY'RE NOT STUPID!", Meki snapped.

"Yaaah! Geez, I know you were on edge before, but this is almost too much.", Hiromi exclaimed in surprise.

"Easy, Meki. This isn't worth it. Besides, do you want to be late again returning home?", Meku urged before Meki sighed.

"Oh, all right. Guess I need to cool off for a bit, anyway...", Meki sighed, puzzling Hiromi.

Later, the two sisters returned home.

"Mom, we're home.", Meku spoke before she and Meki noticed what their mother was doing, although it didn't quite seem successful.

"Watch it! Quilt on the floor! Oh, my... This pattern's a disaster. Could you make dinner tonight? And where's Haru?", Meki's mother asked.

Meanwhile, Haru was looking out at the night sky in the Cat Kingdom before Lune came in to check on her.

"How are you doing?", Lune asked.

"I'm fine. It looks so beautiful at night here.", Haru spoke.

"Yes, it does. I've always done my best to admire the beauty of my Kingdom.", Lune responded.

"Huh. That sounds nice. You know, it must be so easy to be a cat. I mean, you can go wherever you wants and do whatever you want and do it all without anything bad happening to you. Who knows? Maybe I'd fit in better with a bunch of cats. You get to lay around all day, don't you? A cat's life sounds great. Eat all the food you want, take naps in the sun, forget about all your problems.", Haru grinned.

"Well, while I can do all that, I only wish that I had someone to do it with.", Lune responded before Haru's face beamed.

"I would do it.", Haru assured, surprising him.

"Really?", Lune asked.

"Yeah. I want to do it.", Haru responded with a grin.

"I would like that.", Lune grinned, taking her hand in his paws before they looked longingly into each other's eyes.

"You know, honestly, I wish I could be a cat. So, this way, I could not only be just like you, but also be with you, too. But let's be honest. That could never happen. But it would be nice if it did.", Haru spoke just as her pupils dilated before narrowing into slits while becoming completely green.

Frankly, Lune noticed the change in her eyes and looked surprised.

"Is something wrong?", Haru asked as her teeth started to sharpen a little way with her two top fangs starting to show.

"Oh, uh, everything's fine. And if I may, why would you want that?", Lune asked.

"Well, it's just that..., I've always adored cats. And I always thought that I should have been born a cat. Heck, I even fantasized myself as a cat, many times when I was little.", Haru explained, letting out some cat noises unnoticed as she spoke while showing flashbacks of her all by herself and pretending to be a cat when no one was looking.

"And as I got older, not a day went by that I didn't think about how my life would have been better being a cat.", Haru added.

"Well, you would probably make a beautiful cat.", Lune assured before the two then kissed each other on the lips and even purred (not knowing it was actually her and not Lune).

"Well, it was pretty late. Would you like to sleep in my room with me?", Lune asked.

"I'd love to.", Haru grinned as her ears slowly turned long painlessly.

By the time Haru got inside and laid down with Lune which were now resting on top of her head as it they turned halfway.

"Good night, Lune.", Haru spoke before yawning.

"I think that Haru will be pleasantly surprised tomorrow.", Lune spoke.
