A/N: EDIT: Bit of a long note here, don't mind me.

So here we are, a Halloween update. I doubt anyone will see this, but here goes nothing.

*braces for hate*

I did warn you all that this story was ending early, much like a "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing," if only because no one seemed to like them. Better this than letting int languish. As a note, several of my stories such as All Things Must Die, Daddy's Little Devil, Best Served Cold -and this- are reaching their final chapters quite soon. THose three, at least, won't be so abrupt in their ending.

It doesn't help that I hated this story; in that it went the wrong way and I couldn't stand what it became.

Thought I'd made a point of mentioning that. Why, you ask? Hmm...I wonder...

Just because I'm not updating my RWBY stories every day anymore, I have people beating down my door, saying I've forgotten it. Take an anonymous reviewer (Blueberry) and other users with an account (whom I won't name for the sake of discretion) for instance. I don't know how to say this anymore. I've forgotten nothing, I'm just trying to spread the love around. You say I've given up on RWBY? That it bores me? That I won't write it anymore? That I don't finish things?

Well, here we are.

The final chapter for another story. Been a long time coming, but we made it. Thanks for joining me on this journey. I always said this would end one day; although now I wonder if folks expected this ending. Some did. Some didn't. If anything its sure to polarize people.

No questions this time around. In other words? Here. We. Go.

As ever, I own no references, quotes, memes or themes. Not a wit or one.

Thanks for joining me on this journey. Its been a blast.

"All stories having an ending. Each and every one. That's the way of life.

In the end, it falls to us to make our own, I suppose

What will yours be?"

~End.

Conclusion

"So who won, pops?"

A blond brow quirked down at the child in his lap.

"I would've told ya, if you hadn't interrupted me just now, Boruto...

"Aw, c'mon!" a tiny fist tightened around the lapels of the king's mantle. "You can't just stop the story there! I wanna know what happened!"

"A great many things happened." the ruler leaned back into his throne with a smile. "Some of which aren't meant for the ears of children. There was a terrible final battle, a climatic finish, and a great many foolish people died. The world began to fall in line after that; after which your mother learned to live a little. And then you came along." A rough hand descended to muss the five-year old's hair. "You should be thanking me, really. Your mother almost named you after Ozpin."

"Blech!" the boy crossed his arms and sulked. "What about the Relics, though? And the Gods? Or the Maidens?"

"That's fair." His father nodded. "Alright, then. What do you think happened?"

...that was the question, wasn't it?

Boruto was only five after all. Children weren't meant to think of such things. He still tried his best.

"You said your soul was split."

"Correct." Dad nodded once. "Right down the middle. Light and Dark. Its not something I care to experience a second time."

"So whoever was stronger probably won, right?"

Whiskered cheeks dimpled in a sly smile.

...you're not gonna tell me, are ya."

"I will, someday." his Father reassured him. "But not tonight."

Dad was mysterious that sometimes. He ruled the entire world, but he always, always, ALWAYS made time for him. Sure his stories were a little strange, and he could be a bit scary to anyone who wasn't of the Family, but a dad was a dad. And he was his, make no mistake.

Besides, being a prince wasn't so bad. He had loads of friends, and his parents were always there for him. What more could a kid want?

"Tch." Boruto huffed, still mildly put out by the lack of said ending. "Stingy bastard, leaving me on a cliffhanger."

"Language." that whiskered visage creased in a frown. "Don't let your mother hear that."

Crap. She'd tan his hide. "Riiiiiight." he drawled. "Mom's scary when she's angry."

Naruto sighed. "She's pregnant with your sister. Cut her some slack...

"Where is she, anyway?"

Naruto smirked. "Behind you."

"Puh-lease, I'm not gonna fall for-

Someone or something blew in his ear. "Boo!"

Boruto shot into the air with a shriek and tumbled off his fathers lap. He never hit the floor. A pale arm caught him and pulled him again, pressing him against Dad's chest. The rich contralto of a woman's laughter filled the room, echoing off the walls of the chamber. He looked up with a scowl and met bemused eyes, bright as his own.

"Moooom! He whined. "Don't sneak up on me like that!"

"Tried to warn ya." Naruto chortled a little. "How were the negotiations?"

She grinned at him, a smile full of teeth. "Aggressive, but fruitful...eventually."

"Oh? How so?"

Boruto knew what was coming; alas, he didn't manage to close his eyes in time. Still holding him with one arm, Mom leaned and kissed Dad soundly on the lips, all but crushing him against the back of his chair. Aaargh! It burned! The traumatized youth covered his eyes and gagged. "Ewwww! Gross! Stop, stop, stop!

"Now, now," Mom smiled. It was a rather pleasant smile for someone so frightening. "You'll find someone you love someday."

"Never! Girls are grooooss!"

His parents exchanged a bemused look. Mom found her voice first. "What story were you telling him this time?

"Oh, just the one about how you and I met." Dad waved a hand. "He's been bugging me about it."

"Splendid!" she hummed. "I have a few details I'd like to add. Did you mention the gods?"

"No, not yet." Naruto sighed softly. "I was getting to that bit when he interrupted.

"Yeah! Boruto perked up, bright eyes alight. "So what happened?! Who won?"

"Well, dear son, Mom settled into the throne beside Dad. "It ended with...

As for answers...well. Those were surprisingly easy to find.

One had but to look at Boruto's piercing eyes.

They were the deepest, piercing red.

The color of darkness itself.

Eyes of Salem.

A/N: And there we are. Done. Darkness wins, Light falls, DONE!

Not every story has a happy ending, and only or two of you saw this coming.

I know I'm going to catch some flak for this, and I'm sorry. Some questions are left unanswered, but that's the way of things some times. It was this or never update this story again. No one wanted that. Now if you'll excuse me, I have other stories to finish, though none will be so abrupt at this Don't mind me, I have a point to make.

As ever, reviews are the fuel that sustain me. Without them I cannot write. Simple as that.

So in the Immortal Words of Atlas...Review, Would You Kindly?

See you in this next story.
