A/N: EDIT: Because folks wanted an alternate ending, too. Really, REALLY badly. Alright, then. Here we go.
To think, I actually got some threats over that ending. Yikes. As you wish. I listen to my fans.
No questions this time around. In other words? Here. We. Go. Hope you're ready to smile.
As ever, I own no references, quotes, memes or themes. Not a wit or one.
Thanks for joining me on this journey.
Its been a blast.
"Every tale has multiple endings.
This? But one of many.
Such is a story."
~End part 2.
Conclusion (Light)
"No! You can't let it end like that!"
Naruto blinked once, somewhat startled by the remark.
He looked up from the storybook he'd been reading to find a pair of bright eyes glowering at him over it. Faced with such a fearsome pout, he couldn't help but quirk a brow. He tilted his horned head. The girl didn't waver. She met him stare for stare, until he finally yielded and laid the book down on his lap. Even then she didn't relent; her sole concession was to cross her arms and nestle
"Why not, Summer?" his brow furrowed. I thought you liked scary stories?"
"No!" the seven-year-old shook her head, sending her dark hair swaying from side to side. "Not like that! Too spooky for me!" a tiny hand slapped his leg then jabbed an equally tiny finger at the storybook in his lap. "Tell it better! I wanna happy ending!"
A low contralto of laughter echoed her words.
"You heard our daughter." her mother hummed sleepily into his side. "Keep reading. I was just about to doze off, too.
The God of Light sighed in his head. "Is this what I've been relegated to? A mere bystander in these affairs?"
Naruto shrugged. "Better than being dead."
Summer made a keening noise. "Story!"
...fair enough. Appease the little one.
"Alright." he chorted softly. "Now where were we? The hero took up his sword to face the wicked fox." his voice pitched low as his daughter looked on, enraptured. "Blade in hand, he faced the darker half of his soul and the wicked witch he'd conspired with. But he was not alone. With him stood a reaper...
"Oh!" His wife hummed into his shoulder. "I remember this part. This is where you turned into a dragon and beat down that damn demon fox!"
"Demon?!" Kurama squawked in his head. "I've reformed since then! Why am I still the bad guy?!"
"Well you were, before he reunited his soul...
"Fairly put, brother. He has no right to complain.
"Hush up, the both of ya! You're living rent free in here!"
Naruto coughed into a fist. "Guys? Trying to tell a story to the kiddo...
"Lemme do it." his wife plucked the book from his hands. "You're telling it all wrong!
"Such a spoilsport, Ruby...
Their daughter hummed once, closed her eyes, and snuggled close to her parents as they told the tale together. Naruto couldn't help but smile at the sight of those orbs. Why shouldn't he? Their daughter was the best of them, her faintly whiskered cheeks dimpling now in the slightest smile as she closed her eyes.
They were the deepest, pools of silver
Reflecting the purest of light.
They were silver eyes.
A/N: There we go. Light!Naruto gets his happy ending. It ruins the tone I was going for perhaps, but if it makes folks happy...I can live with it~!
