Amalgamation
In hindsight, perhaps, they did go overboard Izuku thought with a frown. He was back in the monitor room with All Might who broke down their performance based on how several factors. He named Yaoyorozu the MVP since she played her role, guarded her objective, and captured Iida with carefully set traps.
While All Might did praise his foresight to force the fight outside knowing a destructive battle like that would be harmful indoors, he scolded him for going overboard. Since Todoroki was in the nurse's office, Izuku was left to bear the full weight of the number one Hero's displeasure. 'It was Todoroki who started it, I merely defended myself.' Izuku had wanted to say but it would be a lie. There were half a dozen different ways he could have avoided that glacier without giving his other Quirks away.
The truth of the matter was, he had lost himself in that moment. Izuku looked away shamefully, All Might was right, a Hero did not act like that. What kind of a Hero he would ever be to lose his composure and completely forget and abandon the objective in favor of the thrill of battle. He had known Todoroki to be strong, his Quirk to be extraordinary, yet he had not expected him to be able to counter his flames despite the elemental disadvantage.
His Inferno was different than his other Quirks, it was perhaps in a way very similar to All for One. There was a subtle, pull to it, a simmering will of its own. Inferno was like a primal force of power, hot simmering rage begging to be let out just under the surface. As far as he could remember, he had always felt that power burn under his skin, itching to be free... yet he rarely ever could let it burn. Inferno was destructive, chaotic, and hard to control. He knew that first hand, he remembered when he had set fire to his house when he was young. They had to evacuate the whole neighborhood because of how strong and uncontrollable the flames were. Ever since that day, Izuku had to reign in that feeling, it was like suppressing his urge to take everything and feed All for One... instead, Inferno wanted everything to burn.
At that moment, when he saw Todoroki conjure that glacier, he let himself go. He had surrendered himself to that burning rage, to let the power simmering under the surface escape. He had let as much out as he could in that small moment. Izuku turned his eyes away from All Might in shame, if this was real, his little stunt would have endangered everyone in the area. All Might was right, Izuku was reckless, selfish, and rash.
"Hey man, don't beat yourself up," Izuku turned towards the sound. "You were totally manly out there. I am Kirishima Eijiro."
"Midoriya Izuku." He responded tonelessly as the next two teams prepared for their trial.
"Todoroki took things too far," Yaoyorozu nodded from beside him. "You merely defended yourself. While I admit, it was reckless, you could hardly be blamed for defending yourself."
"Icy-bastard wanted a fight and you blew him away, nothing wrong with that." Katsuki scoffed, yet there was a gleam in his eye. Izuku knew that look, it was calculating, he was excited. Katsuki was trying to figure out if he could beat Todoroki after his glacier stunt.
"You were amazing Deku," Uraraka nodded enthusiastically making him smile. "Anyone else would have been blown away if they were fighting Todoroki."
"You wanna say that again round face?" Katsuki turned towards Uraraka causing her to jump away.
"Yelling and threatening your classmates is not how a hero should behave," Iida interjected as he always did.
"Kacchan, I am sure she didn't mean it that way," Izuku placated holding Katsuki by the arm. "Thank you, all of you really... but All Might was right, I lost control. I made a mistake but that's why we are here right? To learn how to be better Heroes."
"Well said Midoriya! I shall strive to be a good student like you." Iida nodded his head almost comically inadvertently relieving some tension from his shoulders. The rest of the class progressed rather normally, there were no incidents like his own match. In fact, after the brief fight between him and Todoroki, the rest of the battles were rather tame in comparison... which was a good thing he supposed. Katsuki was staring at him throughout the class with a strange gleam in his eye, something was going on in his head and it was upsetting him a little.
The trial immediately after his own was really interesting as well. Since Eraserhead had transferred Mineta to the Gen-ed course, there were only 19 students in the class... which meant one of them had to go through this trial alone. That happened to be Tokoyami against Jirou and Sero. Despite the odds being against him, he didn't have much trouble. His Quirk being extremely powerful, and his opponents not really having a combat Quirk likely paid a part in it. Appraisal chimed in his head confirming what he already suspected, the dark made Dark Shadow more powerful. Not exactly hard to figure out, the match ended very quickly after that. Poor Sero had tried to tie up Dark Shadow while Jirou had him disoriented with her soundwaves and distracted... it was a good plan, may have even worked if it wasn't so dark. The sentient Quirk had torn through the tape without much trouble and just tossed both of Tokoyami's opponents into unconsciousness.
The only other incident that really happened was in the last trial of the day, Katsuki's match. He was paired up with Uraraka against Sato and Kirishima. Katsuki being Katsuki decided to take on the match by himself... only the match had not gone his way. Kirishima's Quirk was well suited to be used against him in particular. No matter how many explosions he threw, Kirishima could take it. In the end, his decision to lone wolf the trial had come to haunt him, Kirishima tanking his explosions and Sato using his strength to rush him had driven him into a corner... leaving him no choice but to use his emergency reserves.
"Oh no," Izuku breathed loudly, All Might was the only one who really understood what was happening causing him to grab the mic to try and stop Katsuki... but he knew better. Katsuki wouldn't stop, the explosion rocked the building and tore a hole through its side. Luckily for Katsuki, the bomb happened to be on the floor above from where they were fighting so he wasn't disqualified on the spot.
Izuku winced as the smoke cleared, Kirishima had taken the full brunt of the explosion, diving in front of Sato using his Hardening to protect his teammate. Izuku felt admiration in his heart rising for his red-haired classmate as his smoking body fell face-forward. This being one too many explosions for even him to take without suffering significant damage.
'Hero Team Wins!' All Might's voice rang loudly causing him to turn his attention from the shaken Sato and slack-jawed Katsuki. How? He wondered as he saw the other monitor to watch Uraraka standing by the bomb. How had she sneaked by? Then it clicked, Zero Gravity she had probably floated to the top of the building and simply walked in all the while Katsuki acted as the diversion. Uraraka was a lot smarter than she came across Izuku thought with a smile.
"That was reckless, Kacchan," Izuku commented off-handedly, knowing full it would piss him off.
"Piss of nerd!" Katsuki responded with his teeth grinding in frustration causing him to grin. "I'll blow your ass next!"
"Anyone wants to guess who the MVP of this match is?" All Might asked, his teeth shining bright as ever. Almost in an instant Yaoyorozu began tearing into her explanation. It was quite impressive really.
"I believe the MVP of this match should be Uraraka," The girl began. "While Bakugo was the one who did most of the fighting, his behavior was extremely reckless for a Hero. Abandoning your partners in the midst of a bomb crisis and engaging the villains on your own is not a smart thing to do. Furthermore, he lost himself in the heat of the battle and was too reckless. His blast against Kirishima could have jeopardized the whole operation and caused the bomb to go off had this been a real situation. While the villain team did well to combat the threat, they left their objective completely unguarded causing them to lose."
"Once again, well said." All Might praised with his standard smile. It had become something of a routine this whole class. After every game, Iida and Yaoyorozu would race to name an MVP and give an explanation behind their decision.
"That was a great first class," All Might praised with a booming laugh. "You all performed wonderfully, no serious injuries. This was a great teamwork exercise given that it was your first session, you all should be proud young heroes. I must go check on Young Kirishima," All Might finished abruptly, "Change out of your costumes and head back to the classrooms!" With that, All Might was gone in a blink.
Izuku blinked, that was not as fast as he had expected. Despite All Might being extremely fast, he had expected him to be faster. Izuku felt he could actually keep up with his speed if he pushed all of his Enhancer quirks... which should not be possible given how it was All Might who... Izuku shook his head, clearing his head. The rest of the day passed in a haze for him, it was an interesting day. He kept going over every single Quirk he had seen today, breaking them down... wondering how he could use them. The things he could accomplish if he used them all in conjunction.
It was a good method to keep his mind off things, his mind off the fact that he may very well have disappointed All Might in his very first combat class. It was a somber realization, one he tried not to focus on. Instead, he chose to replay his battle against Todoroki, going over everything... over how he could have beaten Todoroki using just his Inferno had this been a real fight. The day passed by surprisingly fast after that.
"Kacchan?" Izuku called out as he was walking out of the school alongside Uraraka and Iida. "You wanna head home together?"
"Eh?" Izuku realized he should have probably left him alone the moment he turned around. "Fuck you want Deku? Leave me the fuck alone unless you want me to blow your stupid ass up. I may have lost today but I am gonna leave you in the dust soon, you hear me?"
With his piece said, he turned around and stomped out of the gates before he could even think of a reply, leaving his two companions confused.
"Don't worry, it's just Kacchan being Kacchan, in his mind, he lost today."
"What is the deal with you two?" Uraraka asked a bit hesitantly, "Why does he call you Deku? I can't honestly decide if you are friends or not."
"Uraraka! that's not a polite thing to ask!" Iida interjected loudly making him laugh for a moment. Iida was too earnest and rigid.
"That's fine Iida," Izuku tried to placate Iida. "Bakugo and my relationship... it's a bit complicated, to say the least."
"You don't have to say, I was just curious is all."
"I know, but I want to." Izuku smiled, "Bakugo was always good at everything. From studies to physical activities, he was always among the best... and I was kinda not. Then he got his Quirk, and just as everyone expected, Explosion was really strong. It separated him from the rest of us, everyone praised him, everyone knew that was special and they let him know that myself included."
"Pride is the downfall of many good heroes, I endeavor to control mine," Iida stated in his usual rigid manner making Uraraka smile a bit indulgingly at him.
Izuku merely nodded, "Things changed when I got my Quirk. As you can likely imagine, my Quirk is powerful."
"I still remember the entrance exams, your fire went whoosh and melted the zero pointer!" Uraraka exclaimed in her usual vibrant manner.
"Indeed," Iida nodded, "While pyro Quirks are relatively rare, your Quirk is abnormaly powerful given what you did to the zero pointer. It is on a level only matched by Endeavor."
If you only knew. "Indeed, so you can likely imagine what happened when I first got my Quirk. I could never quite control it, once I even set my whole neighborhood on fire. They had to evacuate it. Despite having such a powerful Quirk, Bakugo was still better. I couldn't even use my Quirk without causing massive damage so Bakugo named me Deku, which essentially meant useless."
"An insult, how distasteful!"
"Don't be mistaken, it may have been an insult but in his own way, Kacchan was merely trying to motivate me. I suppose he wanted a rival."
"I thought it sounded cool, kinda like you can do it," Uraraka explained, embarrassment tinging her voice.
"You can use it like that, both of you. I would like it."
"I shall stick to Midoriya if it's all the same to you." Izuku merely smiled in response to Iida. The day had been long and his future was still uncertain but he felt oddly at peace. He had made friends, and with them, he didn't feel bleak as he had for such a long time.
There weren't many things Overhaul didn't hate about society. Heroes, villains, people in general, all infested with the sickness of Quirks. He hated this society that kept churning out Heroes and Villains like maggots crawling out of a dead infectious body. Overhaul remembered when he had been Chisaki Kai, a powerless little boy in a world full of unfairness. It was the boss of the Yakuza who had taken him in... who had saved him.
He had devoted his life to the Yakuza in return, to kill Chisaki Kai, and let Overhaul be reborn. All for the Yakuza... in a time where Yakuza was dying. It was all the fault of the sickness of heroes and villains, of quirks, that ruined this society... that ruined balance. The sickness only he could see, only he could realize. It was him who knew that the only way to save the world, return to a sense of normality and balance was to eradicate Quirks. A world full of disease, of sick people who didn't realize their own sickness, a sickness only he saw. A sickness he couldn't cure... it was enough to drive a man insane.
That was until he saw the light, Eri, she was the cure to this world... an asset so powerful she could turn this world on its axis. Overhaul had told as such to the boss, only he couldn't see it. How could he? He had grown in this sick world, put down by the shackles he didn't even realize he had. It fell to Overhaul to save this society, to cure it, to restore balance where the Yakuza wasn't treated like yesterday's trash. They'll see, they'll all see. All I do is for the sake of the boss and the Yakuza.
Overhaul stared at Eri through the window of her room at the end of his lab. If his Eight Precepts of Death were his chess pieces, Eri was the Queen, and he was the player. He was so close now, his erasure bullets that could temporarily erase quirks were already out in the underground. Soon enough, he would have it all.
"Boss," Chronostasis' voice halted his thoughts, "As you ordered, I have gathered the eight bullets."
"What?" Overhaul turned around, his instincts already acting up. "What do you mean as I ordered?"
"You promised me a good fight!" Rappa exclaimed at Chronostasis who had gone tense, "Did you lie to me, you bastard?"
"Shut up and for once read the situation!" Tengai shouted at his partner, already scanning the surroundings. He had a good head on his shoulders, which was why Overhaul found him useful.
"What the hell is going on!?"
"Is this some sort of a prank?"
"Where the fuck is Mimic?"
Whoever the intruder was must have been listening Overhaul realized as a small blur impacted one of the Eight bullets. Tabe... his name was. Overhaul flinched just as the impact knocked him over. He was dead, it was a sobering realization, Tabe's head had been blown half up... what had been thrown at him? Overhaul shuddered for a moment 'what kind of a monster has that much strength?'
It was Mimic's severed head Overhaul realized with morbid fascination... whoever their enemy was had thrown Mimic's head with such force it had half exploded Tabe's head open and killed him. What power that must take Overhaul thought as he saw the gore, bones, brains, and flesh littered around and splattering over everything.
Before the shouting even started there was the sound of flesh tearing, Overhaul turned just to see an arm ripping right through Nemoto's chest. He could already see Chronostasis using his Quirk to disorientate their attacker as his own palm struck the ground. Massive spike rose from the ground shredding right through Nemoto. Trash like Nemoto and Tabe was easy enough to accumulate but he'd still rather not have to find more manpower.
He could see Katsukame and Rappa rushing at their enemy when everything he had thrown at their opponent exploded. The enemy was covered head to toe in a black suit. Not even his hair was visible, nothing at all. It was unnatural and unsettling, is this fear, Overhaul wondered as Katsukame's large arms grabbed the attacker from behind and Rappa let out a flurry of blows with everything he had. Seeing his chance, Overhaul ran at their opponent intent on finishing him when Katsukame let out a blood-curdling scream stopping him in his tracks. His eyes and ears were bleeding, 'whoever this monster is, Katsukame cannot handle absorbing his stamina and power,' Overhaul mused as he saw the telltale glow of Katsukame's quirk.
I am afraid Overhaul realized, it was hard not to be... with heroes, he had never any fear of dying but with this monster? He is gonna kill them all a corner of his mind whispered just as the stranger flexed his arms so hard he could hear Katsukame's shoulders dislocate and his bones shatter. Rappa's shouts of battles were drowned as both of his arms were grabbed mid-swing and ripped right off his shoulder joints. Rappa didn't even have a moment to shout before the stranger kicked him so hard he caved his chest. The man turned around to face Katsukame who was humongous from all the energy drain, down at his knees sobbing with his arms limping uselessly at his side. The stranger had no mercy as his arms blurred and clapped his head on either side... popping it like a watermelon.
"Overhaul! We have to go!" Chronostasis shouted at him, probably a bad move considering the attention of the stranger was right at him. The man blurred from their view, the next instant he saw his arm was shoved through Chronostasis' chest. The stranger used his other arm in a swiping motion and ripped his second in command in half.
"N-no, stop! please!" It was Tengai who was begging... his barrier didn't do him much good either. One punch was all it took to destroy it and one more to severe his head.
Hojo was braver than the others as he let out a war cry and charged at the stranger... likely hoping his crystals would protect him. All the good it did him, the stranger grabbed Hojo and used him as a weapon against a running Setsuno and Sakaki. All three were dead in less than ten seconds as their bodies broke against one another.
'All of my manpower, everything I have built...' Overhaul let out a shout of rage as everything he had was dying in front of his eyes. His finger touched the back of the man's head in triumph as his headgear was disintegrated to nothingness. Just a little more Overhaul desperately begged in his mind as he stretched his body as much as could but the stranger was faster. Before his finger could touch him the man turned around and grabbed his wrist.. both of them. It was quick, the crunch of his wrist as their bones was crushed to fine paste... his knee gave out before he could even feel the pain of his joint exploding.
'He is young,' It was a somber realization as Overhaul stared in those dead cold eyes of the man who had destroyed his organization. Then the pain of his shattered bones and his shattered dreams came. He screamed, in rage, in pain, tears burning down his cheeks as he realized Overhaul was dead, now he was Chisaki Kai again... a scared boy in a cruel world.
'I can heal myself,' He thought in desperation, trying to control himself... if only he could touch himself. The sound of a door riping in half and a moment later the stranger came in view again. He was struggling, desperate... move, you useless shit move as he saw Eri clutched on the stranger's shoulders.
His body burned, his pride, dreams, and everything he worked for was being destroyed in front of him. 'I refuse to die like this!' With rage filling his body and a last surge of separation, his finger contacted his leg. He could feel his quirk start to break his body just as the stranger's foot came crashing down... and darkness claimed him.
Sorry, going on a hiatus after three chapters was a dick move. A bit of a smaller chapter but I hope it was worth it, did you see it coming?
Midoriya Izuku-Quirks:-
All for One: The ability to take and give Quirks with a touch. The time it takes to acquire a Quirk depends on several factors such as the target's health, willpower, Quirk itself, and mental state. Further research is required.
Appraisal: Ability to research Quirk based on the information present to the user. If the user can acquire a certain amount of information this Quirk can fill in the blanks by itself and reveal almost everything about the target's Quirk. Note: the results provided may or may not be accurate depending on the data present to the user.
Inferno: Inferno is the result of a combination of several pyrokinetic Quirks. This amalgamation of Quirks is unique and has resulted in one of the strongest pyrokinetic Quirks in existence that allows its user the ability to generate, transmute, and manipulate fire. It also allows the user the ability to regulate heat in their vicinity, inside their own body, and extreme heat resistance. The true extent of the Quirk is currently unknown.
Spring steps: This Quirk allows its user to replicate the effects of a large spring from their legs. In particular, the user can absorb a great amount of force and reapply it in the opposite direction. Note: This Quirk does not turn the user's legs physically into a spring.
Bio Manipulation: Bio Manipulation is widely considered to be one of the most complex and complicated Quirks in existence. The Quirk allows its user total and utter control over every single function of their body no matter how big or small. The user can manipulate their body down to their very genes. The downside of this Quirk is that the user must have full anatomical knowledge of their body and whatever process they are trying to manipulate. The true potential of this Quirk remains largely unknown. Additional data required.
Calory Burn: This emitter-type Quirk is largely energy manipulation-based. It allows its user to turn their calories into a unique signature of energy which can be used to augment the user's physical capabilities. How big the augmentation is up to the user and how much energy is allocated to which factor of their physical ability. The Quirk results in enhanced metabolism in its users and the intake of calories is dependant on its usage. The downside of the Quirk is noted to be excessive aggression if too much energy is produced in a short period of time. The limit of what is considered 'too much' is dependant on its user's mental and physical well-being along with their emotional state. The true extent of this Quirk's abilities remains unknown to this day as all of its users have been noted to become extremely aggressive, downright hostile, and have reported complete loss of motor function and memory loss of their actions before they could reach the maximum amount of energy produced. Note: There are no known physical side-effects of this Quirk's over-usage. All the side effects are noted to be psychological which is extremely unusual for a Quirk of this kind. Additional data and further research is required.
Several unknown Enhancer and possible Emitter type Quirks. Additional data required.
