Diaspared: Hell no, I hate self-inserts. Despise them with a passion. I really cannot say anymore without spoiling my own story. All I will say further is that he won't be some strong silent type emo character who only shows up, kicks ass, and leaves. That would be boring.
Here we are, the conclusion of the famed USJ. Now it is a bit of a short chapter, I could have gone on longer but I wanted to end it at USJ. Anyhow, let me know if you guys enjoy it or not down in the reviews.
Disclaimer: Alas, I do not unfortunately own this franchise.
Amalgamation
Todoroki huffed loudly taking a deep breath. These villains... despite being grunts had some thought behind their operations... or rather the leaders did. The rest of them were mere cannon-fodder, numbers to take care of the students.
When the black mist had enveloped him, he had opened his eyes in the conflagration zone surrounded by nearly a dozen meatheads. Todoroki did not believe in coincidences so the only logical conclusion was that someone among them attackers knew about his quirk. At least, they knew about as much as he had shown during his time at U.A.
They sent him, a supposed, Ice-wielder to the conflagration zone hoping the fire would do its trick. 'Fools, the lot of them. If anything the fire stopped me from getting any hypothermia so I could use my ice at full capacity without suffering any side effects.'
Still, not everything was a waste. He had at least managed to figure out that these people knew about his quirk, which meant chances were they knew about the others as well. 'A spy?' Among the class or the staff? Either was a possibility, someone had sold information about the students, as much as they knew to the attackers. They intended to separate them into zones that would prove counter-effective to their fighting styles.
'Still, now is not the time to think of this.' Todoroki mused as he headed for the central plaza. He was in the middle of interrogating the thugs when all of the fire in the conflagration zone quite literally just flew away. The chance of the attackers having a villain with a pyro quirk that powerful was not very high. That left the only one he knew with a quirk powerful enough to do it was Midoriya. 'And if he is using that much power... things must be dire.'
Todoroki was still was not very sure what to think of the emerald-haired boy. Every single time he saw his quirk in action his mind doubled down on him being Endeavor's son. He wondered if he should just confront Midoriya about it? Todoroki bit his inner cheek forcing himself to focus... now was not the time to be led astray by his thoughts.
'His quirk is a lot more powerful than I thought.' Todroki frowned in realization as the closer he went to the plaza, the more intense the heat became. He hastened his pace, almost running when he saw a figure lying prone on the ground as he neared the central plaza. He squinted his eyes, ignoring the blistering heat, having to use his quirk to keep himself cool.
It was... Aizawa-sensei, lying unconscious. Todoroki swore in frustration as he saw Eraserhead's blistering red skin smoking visibly from this insufferable heat. Putting his hand on top of him, he covered him in a thin layer of ice, cooling his body down before he got permanent damage.
Todoroki squinted his eyes, he could barely see anything other than small shapes fighting near the center of the plaza. It was likely Midoriya using his fire against the behemoth black creature. Was that a sword? Todoroki wondered watching as Midoriya held something white in his hand. On the opposite side of the plaza, blocking the stairs to the entrance and the exit was a lot of black mist.
'Is it? The teleporter must be using his mist as cover.' Todoroki realized, 'Shelter from the heat, teleporting it before it can reach them.' Was it possible? Todoroki wondered, with a sufficiently powerful warp quirk, theoretically, it should be. Otherwise, they might have been dead already standing this close to Midoriya.
'He must be controlling the heat somehow,' Todoroki tried to break down everything he was seeing. All the details that could come in handy later. 'There is no logical way this much intense heat can form a barrier around the plaza without spilling into the other zones. It's all been condensed into one place. It's like a barrier, is he trying to tell our classmates to stay away?'
It was strange, Midoriya said he was a Pyrokinetic but he had never heard of a fire quirk that allowed its user to manipulate pure heat. Not even his father, who quite possibly had the strongest fire quirk in the country. 'Well, the second strongest now that Midoriya is around.' It was almost as if Midoriya had multiple quirks, he just had too many abilities.
'Could it be a dual or a hybrid quirk like mine? If he is my old man's son, that would make sense since he was very much into the idea of quirk marriages.' Todoroki nearly slapped himself. There was something about Midoriya that kept distracting him.
He forced himself to pay focus to the situation. With this much heat and their contrasting abilities, Todoroki decided he wouldn't be able to work well with Midoriya. If anything, they would be in each other's way. Todroki decided to stay with Eraserhead, protect his unconscious body from harm while keeping an eye on the situation.
'If anything, I can provide long-range support if I need to.' Todoroki decided as he made eye contact with Midoriya despite the distance. For a moment, Todoroki swore he saw the emerald-haired boy flash him a confident smirk as his eyes flashed red.
A few minutes earlier:-
It was a very peculiar feeling, Izuku thought. Not being in control of your own body. One moment he was in pain, unable to move, the other he was just merely there, floating in darkness. He was not unconscious, he was merely just unable to do anything. He couldn't feel anything either, it was like watching a movie. The only difference being that the cinema was the recesses of his mind and the screen were his eyes. No, rather it was as if he was seeing himself in third-person view. It was a very strange feeling. Almost as if he was a ghost hovering over his own body.
"Tch, stop moving already." Izuku could hear the words coming out of his own mouth. It was a very unsettling feeling. "You won't be of much help." His hand touched Eraserhead's shoulder, and the hero fell over unmoving.
"Hmm, feels strange to be in this body again." He heard the words out of his own mouth, standing up and stretching. "Been a while."
"Did you just say again?" Izuku nearly yelled.
''Stop shouting brat, you are gonna give me a headache.'' He complained, ''I can hear you just fine, and yes, I did say again, and no, I won't explain.'' Izuku twitched as he could practically feel the smugness radiating off the bastard hijacking his body as he knelt down and roughly turned Eraserhead onto his back.
"What are you doing?" Izuku hissed. "And was that your quirk? The one that put him to sleep?"
''What are you? stupid?" The man restored sarcastically. "It's your body, your quirk.''
"I don't have a quirk that can put people to sleep." Izuku denied.
''Don't you?'' The man smirked, it infuriated him to no end. ''As for what I am doing, well, I don't think Erasure would do him much good in his condition.''
Izuku went white as a sheet before he raged and thrashed against the invisible bonds that held him a prisoner within his own body. "You bastard! stop this! I won't let you get away with stealing his quirk!"
''You know, All for one isn't this stupid, with you having the same quirk I expected the same of you.'' The man replied dismissively. Despite not being in control, and not even being able to feel anything... he felt the influx of power. All for One came to life as Erasure flew into his body. For a moment there in the darkness, he felt as if he could see a gray stream of energy flowing right into him. ''How many times must I repeat myself? It's your quirk, I am not stealing anything, you are. Hey, quick question, what is Eraserhead without Erasure... just head?''
"You asshole..." Izuku hissed, almost numb from the implication that he had broken the one unspoken promise he had made to his mother. He couldn't even cry because he had no control over his own body. 'Is that all my conviction was worth? My first battle and I broke my oath.'
''You know, you think very loudly?'' He remarked. ''If it tickles you that much, you can always give it back once you get control over your body. Not like I am here to live within a hormonal teenage brat like you.''
Izuku thought of many things he could say but he held back his tongue as his own body moved lazily towards the enemies. Izuku didn't know if he could trust this man at all to return control of his body so perhaps angering him might not be a smart idea. He decided to observe. The man took control of him when he was weakened, so it stood to reason he could do the same as well.
''Not bad,'' The man remarked without a care in the world. ''The quirk that binds you and me together is a two-way street. A tug of war between two wills. Though I wouldn't recommend you trying now brat. It would be quite tragic if you ended up dead because you couldn't wait for me to finish this.''
"Fine, who are you? I can't keep calling you the voice in my head." Izuku reluctantly agreed with him, silently pondering over everything he knew. The man said his thoughts were too loud, meaning there was a possibility of making them quiet. Given the fact that he never heard of this intruder's thoughts in his head meant it was true.
''I am not giving you my name brat.'' He responded dryly as he watched his previous opponents just observe him casually walking towards them. ''You can call me Shadow if you want. Since I am the shadow in your heart and all.''
"That is corny as shit." Izuku snapped back.
''You are very sassy for a brat that needed saving.'' Shadow answered equally as sarcastic. ''Now, shut up and watch... maybe you'll learn how to use your quirks properly, oh I nearly forgot.'' Izuku saw his body rapidly, almost instantly heal every single wound he had... no, it was rather every injury he had gotten was just gone. Almost as if the wounded parts were replaced. ''Bio-Manipulation, one of the greatest quirks of this time, and you use it to run faster.''
"Yo Kurogiri," Shadow called out. "Been a while, how's life treating you?"
"You..." Kurogiri whispered with recognition in his eyes. "I had thought sensei was explicit in his orders to not interact with this child? Did you forget your position Mi-"
"Don't say that name." Shadow raised his finger, and Kurogiri went silent. "As for All for one, these were some rather unique circumstances, as I am sure you'd agree?"
"Kurogiri who the hell is this kid?!" The villain with the hands pointed at him... or rather at Shadow. "How does he know you or sensei?"
"It's rather complicated."
Izuku took the time to focus on the villain who had defeated him. He was standing stiff, almost as if he was in shock. Did he not expect him to get up after that? He wondered if he was going mad because if he was not, the villain muttered a single word as he looked at Shadow. "Father..."
Shadow stiffened a little in response. "Tch, so that's how it is." Before even giving him a chance to register what was happening he turned towards the other one. "Oh, little Shimura? or should I say little Shigaraki Tomura?" Shadow raised his brow. "I didn't recognize you there for a second, you have grown."
"Who are you calling little, you dumb brat?!" Shimura? or was it Shigaraki screamed at him scratching his neck so hard he drew blood. "Fuck it... I don't care. Nomu kill this fucking kid, and kill anyone who tries to stop you."
"Tomura Shigaraki no!" Kurogiri yelled but it was already too late. The creature was already flying at him, Izuku panicked for a moment but his body was moving already. Gracefully ducking, weaving, and jumping around the Nomu, effortlessly dodging its attacks.
"Let's make sure no one interrupts us, don't want your classmates to see your secrets, do we?" Shadow muttered under his breath before the heat rose dramatically. Izuku's eyes widened, it was as if a switch had gone up. Shadow was maximizing the heat and minimizing the area of effect and the time it took to raise the temperature. The Nomu shrieked as its body was quite literally being burnt by the heat, its skin was bubbling and dying almost as quick as it was repairing itself... leaving it in an unimaginable amount of pain constantly.
Izuku watched with a side-eye as Kuroigiri created a barrier of his portals around him to counter the effects of his quirk. Izuku remembered Kurogiri doing the same thing many times in the past when he used to train with him.
''Watch carefully brat. This thing is called a Nomu.'' Shadow explained as he was continuously dodging and counter-attacking but it was doing no damage to the creature. ''It's a genetically modified creature whose base strength and speed are higher than most enhancer quirks out there. Along with that, All for one has stuffed it with multiple quirks.''
"Ho-how are you keeping up with this?" Izuku asked slowly, Shadow was moving faster, and hitting harder than Izuku had ever been able to. Was he truly underutilizing his own potential?
''You are underutilizing your quirks,'' Shadow agreed, dousing the creature in fire, slowing it momentarily. ''That aside, it is still stronger than you, though not quite as fast. As long as you are focused you can outspeed it. Now, the obvious regeneration aside, have you noticed how my attacks have no effects on it?''
"Some form of impact nullification?" Izuku asked unsurely, not quite actually he thought almost immediately. While it seemed unaffected, at a closer look, it still slowed down a little each time it was hit.
''Close, but Appraisal reveals it to be Shock Absorption meaning it has a limit,'' Shadow revealed. ''Normally I would say this thing despite its weakness to fire would be able to beat you. It is stronger than you and can outlast you as you are now. Though with Erasure in your body...''
"Why are you doing all of this? Telling me all of this?" Izuku asked unsurely, it almost felt as if this was a lesson of some sort.
''Doesn't matter,'' Shadow shook his head. 'As for why I am telling you this, you would likely soon have to face other Nomu... you didn't think All for one only had one these things, did you? I won't always be around to rescue your ass.'
"I didn't need your help." Izuku tried to argue but his voice sounded weak to himself.
Izuku was vaguely aware of his eyes turning red and his hair beginning to float. The Nomu let out a shriek of agony, as its skin started to burn away, revealing muscle and bone beneath. Burnt and charred almost immediately within seconds without regeneration to help him repair the damage.
Almost mindlessly, the creature rushed at Shadow but he stopped its movement grabbing it by the throat with his right hand. The Nomu raised its own right hand, intending to punch Shadow. Before Izuku could warn him to dodge, something inexplicable happened. An extra arm grew out of his shoulder grabbing the Nomu's wrist.
"What the fuck?!" Izuku yelled as another arm grew from his left shoulder. The fourth appendage opened its palm and a jagged spiky bone grew out of its stabbing the Nomu through its throat.
"You dare lay your hands on me, you filthy creature?" Shadow hissed in disgust as the Nomu gurgled, and sprayed blood from its neck. "What is this? Boost, Super Regeneration, and Shock Absorption? Such a wonderful assortment of quirk... I think the brat can use them all."
"What are you doing?" Izuku asked in alarm as he felt a sudden influx of power and just as abruptly, it stopped. Shadow jumped back as the Nomu thrashed wildly, shrieking in pain. A mess of burnt skin, muscle, and charred bones with a wound in its throat that was spraying blood and gore everywhere.
"Dry eyes, is this the weakness of Erasure? So ridiculous." Shadow cursed as the extra arms he had grown crumbled around him, the holes in his shoulders stitching away leaving no trail of their existence. "I wanted to take them all but... I guess you would have to do without Shock Absorption. Since your friend is watching, let's finish the show, shall we?"
Izuku turned his head to the side, was that Todoroki? "How did you know he was there?" He asked trying to ignore the implication of the fact that he now had three more quirks in his body than he did an hour ago.
''He disturbed the flow of my heat barrier,'' Shadow responded before he raised his hand at the Nomu shrieking in pain, unable to even move. Izuku felt pity as he watched it slowly being cooked, burning to its death painfully.
Shadow snapped his fingers and blue flames roared to life around the Nomu. It raged in pain but within seconds, the creature known as Nomu was no more. Izuku was in awe, was this the real power of Inferno?
He turned his head around once more and saw Todoroki tending to Eraserhead and felt relieved. Something else caught his eye and he felt sickened, horror blossoming within his chest. Throughout the plaza were countless charred bones, burnt flesh... corpses littering everywhere he could see.
"Y-you monster..." Izuku whispered in horror. "What have you done?"
"Me? I have done nothing other than killing that creature." Shadow answered dryly keeping an eye on Kurogiri's portal.
"Liar!"
"Whatever else I may be, I do not lie." Shadow defended himself. "The heat of the barrier was focused around its center and those thugs are near the outer edges... they would not have died from it. I hardly care about them but that far out, at best would have given them third-degree burns. Maybe it might have killed one or two, but turn them all to charred bone and ash like that? Nah, that's the result of you going wild earlier."
"I-I, I wouldn't..." Izuku stammered in denial. "I'd never do anything like this... you are lying to me, trying to trick me!"
"You wouldn't do anything like this. On that much we agree, you are no killer." Shadow nodded his head. Izuku was vaguely aware that he now had control over his body but his mind was too focused on everything else.
Shadow was not lying at all. His use of Inferno was precise. Shadow had maximized its power and minimized its area of effect. Even when he killed the Nomu, the fire nor the heat spread an inch beyond where he wanted it. While he had been throwing around all of his power like a kid who just got his quirk... like a Deku.
Tears blurred his vision as Izuku fell to his knees, bile building in his throat. 'I did this...' Izuku lamented before he vomited all over the ground.
"For what it's worth, it was your body's natural response in the presence of an overwhelming opponent like the Nomu." Shadow's voice rang in his mind. "Fight or flight... and you chose." Izuku didn't care to listen. He didn't move from his position but he was vaguely aware of the doors to USJ blasting off their hinges... and All Might announcing his presence.
"You need to rest brat, let your heroes deal with the rest," Shadow spoke and Izuku didn't care to refuse. He finally let sleep claim him.
Chapter End:
As I said, I could have gone longer but I feel like this is a good place to stop. In case you haven't noticed, the tone I am going for is a bit heavy and different from the manga. As for Shadow, it is obviously a fake name he came upon the spot. As I said earlier, he is a manga character. Would be funny if anyone figured it out. Anyhow, time to head out. Next chapter we face the aftermath of USJ and the psychological impact this whole ordeal had on Izuku.
Midoriya Izuku-Quirks:-
All for One: The ability to take and give Quirks with a touch. The time it takes to acquire a Quirk depends on several factors such as the target's health, willpower, Quirk itself, and mental state. Further research is required.
Appraisal: Ability to research Quirk based on the information present to the user. If the user can acquire a certain amount of information this Quirk can fill in the blanks by itself and reveal almost everything about the target's Quirk. Note: the results provided may or may not be accurate depending on the data present to the user.
Inferno: Inferno is the result of a combination of several pyrokinetic Quirks. This amalgamation of Quirks is unique and has resulted in one of the strongest pyrokinetic Quirks in existence that allows its user the ability to generate, transmute, and manipulate fire. It also allows the user the ability to regulate heat in their vicinity, inside their own body, and extreme heat resistance. The true extent of the Quirk is currently unknown.
Spring steps: This Quirk allows its user to replicate the effects of a large spring from their legs. In particular, the user can absorb a great amount of force and reapply it in the opposite direction. Note: This Quirk does not turn the user's legs physically into a spring.
Bio Manipulation: Bio Manipulation is widely considered to be one of the most complex and complicated Quirks in existence. The Quirk allows its users total and utter control over every single function of their body no matter how big or small. The user can manipulate their body down to their very genes. The downside of this Quirk is that the user must have full anatomical knowledge of their body and whatever process they are trying to manipulate. The true potential of this Quirk remains largely unknown. Additional data is required.
Calory Burn: This emitter-type Quirk is largely energy manipulation-based. It allows its user to turn their calories into a unique signature of energy which can be used to augment the user's physical capabilities. How big the augmentation is up to the user and how much energy is allocated to which factor of their physical ability. The Quirk results in enhanced metabolism in its users and the intake of calories is dependant on its usage. The downside of the Quirk is noted to be excessive aggression if too much energy is produced in a short period of time. The limit of what is considered 'too much' is dependant on its user's mental and physical well-being along with their emotional state. The true extent of this Quirk's abilities remains unknown to this day as all of its users have been noted to become extremely aggressive, downright hostile, and have reported complete loss of motor function and memory loss of their actions before they could reach the maximum amount of energy produced. Note: There are no known physical side-effects of this Quirk's over-usage. All the side effects are psychological, which is extremely unusual for a Quirk of this kind. Additional data and further research is required.
Karmic Punishment: This emitter-type quirk allows its user to turn all the damage the user has absorbed into raw power for one explosive attack. Note that while the quirk allows its user to convert damage into power, it does not, however, heal any injuries sustained along with any fatigue. It has been also theorized that the use of this quirk results in a massive spike of adrenaline due to the sudden influx of power. A final note is that if the user sustains too much damage or if too much power is converted at once, this quirk runs the risk of sending its user into cardiac arrest.
