The majority of the night after I chose my summons were spent either doing one of two things, practicing Jutsu and meditating. I had done this for the purpose of expanding my versatility and hoping that I might be able to become better at using chakra more efficiently.
However, I eventually had to stop due to the increasing amounts of storm clouds approaching the island, with the rain pouring down hard soon after, forcing me inside.
Eventually Shiho and I both made our way down into the underground area of the "mansion" (think of this area like an emergency bunker), that made up the living space and other amenities of the building.
I suppose it would make sense, the biggest landmark on the island was this building, and it is the center of management on the island, so it would make sense that the emergency tunnels would go out from here into the bunkers since people would reasonably come here for protection.
A short tour we both stopped at a decently large room. It resembled an apartment in appearance and had similar features. The first room when we walked in was a living room, which had a coffee table with a love seat and chair set up around it. To the right of that was a hallway that also served as the kitchen, with a white granite countertop. Further back was a dining as well as a door that I assume would lead into the bedroom.
Taking in the room and the basic décor for a few moments, I turned to Shiho, who in turn looked at me with a neutral gaze on her face. I sighed and turned to walk in.
"I suppose it can do for tonight, but once we have the man power and resources I believe a better living space would be relatively high on our priority list." I said as I entered, Shiho following behind me.
The first thing I knew was that I was starving, so I made my way into the kitchen, while Shiho decided to take a seat in the love seat.
Looking through the cabinets, all I really find are buttloads of rehydrated food. I suppose this really is a bunker of some sort, though the entrance was really easy to find so I'm not really sure how its supposed to protect people.
I've heard that these types of meals are rather bland but are filling, though there might be some differences due to the fact chakra is a thing here.
I looked at the instructions closely, not truly trusting myself to read it correctly the first time, and I began to prepare them.
A few minutes had passed and I started to chow down on the now fully hydrated meal, and it appears that I was right. The rehydrated food seems to go for keeping you alive than keeping you happy. The taste was like an unseasoned chicken with a stick of celery.
After a few more minutes I walked into the living room and sat down in the unoccupied chair. Shiho then looked up and over towards me, staring into my eyes. It was as if the eyes of God himself were looking at me, and I ended up freezing in place.
"Namikage-sama." She began. "I noticed some weird boxes showing up in front of you in the office earlier, care to explain what that was?" She ended with a creepy smile. I sat there for a few moments, completely frozen with fear, before eventually sighing.
"Fine Shiho-chan, but promise me you'll listen until I'm finished before saying anything." I said as she nodded.
The next few minutes were spent explaining everything to her in as much detail as I could, from my rather embarrassing death to the nature of the world. Shiho nodded along, staying completely neutral in expression, I couldn't get a read on her.
At the end of it all she took a deep inhale…. And started giggling like a five-year-old on weed?
"Oh ha ha ha ha… Oh Namikage-sama." She said, wiping a tear off her face. "I already knew about all of that, I just wanted to scare you a little bit."
That was certainly a shocker to me, which my expression sent her into another fit of giggles.
"What's so funny?" I asked, becoming slightly annoyed at her laughing at my expense. She simply looked at me with a smirk.
"Namikage-sama, who do you think was supposed to be the tutorial guide for the system?" She answered with a giggle and a wink.
A/N: Sorry about the lateness of the chapter, as well as the shortness. I was absent for a few reasons, college preparations, family visits, and for the last few days I was using a computer that didn't have any writing apps. I'll be uploading a bit more than before, and thank you for being patient with me.
