Honestly, she hated mealtimes. Cabin tables meant she sat alone until Chiron had made the decision to allow all Big Three children to share a table, but that meant she was sitting with Percy. As much as she liked him, he was her cousin after all, but he was an utter and complete goofball and a bit of an idiot. So instead of sitting with Lee, she was sitting across the table from Percy, who had somehow managed to get his hands on blue cookies. Despite the camp, not making them.
She guessed he'd bribed either one of the satyrs or a Hermes kid into bringing them into camp, you could get most things by doing one of the two, and she was definitely guilty of doing the same a time or two, or twenty, herself. But it didn't make it any easier to sit there and try not to watch him eating like a satyr when she knew she had to leave in the morning. Nico wasn't even here, which would have been preferable, but no, when were things ever preferable, she looked down at her plate, which had brisket, strawberries, and grapes on it.
Her camp necklace hung over it and she glanced at the beads, she had a Greek Trireme on fire, a centaur in a prom dress, that had been one of the weirdest things she had ever seen, a dark bead that only she had with a bronze war helm, for when she had been claimed, fireworks. As well as the beads for the Titan War, the black and sea green bead courtesy of the idiot in front of her, The Golden Fleece, The Labyrinth, and lastly The Empire State Building with all the names of those who were killed during the Titan War.
Eight beads for eight summers she'd spent at camp, she wondered what this summer's bead would be, and when she would get it. Since she wouldn't be here for the end of summer celebration, maybe Nico or Lee could have it shipped to England. Except they wouldn't know where she was, and she doubted Hermes would help the package on its way.
Biting her lip she finished the food on her plate, relieved that she didn't have to do the dishes with the harpies, and once dinner was over, she found herself smiling as Lee came over while everyone else headed to the campfire.
Pulling him into another hug she smiled, and they walked over to the campfire, his arm wrapped around her waist and she leaned her head on his shoulder. The fire was a bright yellow-orange, the flames dancing five feet in the air, the other campers were already handing out marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for smores. The Stoll brothers were throwing marshmallows at the Ares campers, which could only go so well. Katie Gardener was rolling her eyes at Travis, who smiled widely at the daughter of Demeter and Connor threw another marshmallow that was caught by Clarisse.
Chuckling she sat down with Lee who kissed her on the temple making her smile grow and she leaned against him, watching the flames flicker in the firepit. At this point, the entire camp had known for a while that they were a couple, partly because of what had happened during the battle of the Labyrinth unless they were idiots. Also known as Percy and the sons of Hermes and Ares, but mostly because the Aphrodite cabin had apparently shipped her and Lee for several years.
Biting her lip at the memory she fingered her locket, she focused on Chiron who stomped his hoof to get the attention of all the campers. After a few moments, and several threats of violent action by Clarisse and the other Ares campers everyone fell silent allowing Chiron to speak. "Thank you, now for the announcements, next week capture the flag will take place on Friday, Cabin 6 holds the laurels presently." The Athena campers cheered, grinning, Grace sitting between Malcolm and Ana and Morgan felt her smile widen again. "Other than that, the chores schedule rotates this weekend and that is all." The campers devolved into noise and she stayed silent, leaning against Lee who was smiling in the firelight, holding her as they watched the other campers and the fire.
