Authors Note:

Ok so I'm super sorry for the delay, but it was my bro's bday over the weekend so we spent the whole weekend out and had a bunch of people over so yea.

SUPER IMPORTANT: Birthdays are important and it's a super special day especially for the person whose birthday it is, and an author on Wattpad (username: everyday-amazing) is trying to make her friends birthday special by having as many people as she can, writing a small note for her friend on this google document. I know many of you don't know her or her friend, and neither do I, but you don't need to know the person to show kindness and wish them a happy birthday, so I'm asking all you dear readers to please take a moment of your time, copy-paste the link below into your browser, and write something for her. Even a simple "Happy birthday" or "Have a great day" is enough to make someone feel like they are important or make them feel special.

If you're on fanfiction and the link doesn't get published (cause I think the website removes links) then you can pm me for it.

The link has also been added as an external link (for Wattpad users) if this doesn't work, so you can scroll to the bottom and click on it. Once again, please please please wish them. Thank you!

So this is basically a filler chapter for that one month gap in between their time at Diagon Alley shopping and the day they leave for Hogwarts.

I thought if I just skipped all the way to the Hogwarts Express stuff, it would seem as though something was left out, so I kept this as the filler chapter.

let's get started with chapter 9! :DDD

Last Time

"See you later Hagrid," Percy and Harry said. Hagrid gave them one last wave before running off towards the pub.

After he left, Percy, Harry, and Sally had dinner. "Percy, we should get going as well," Sally said as they finished up. She said a quick thank you to Tom, dropped a few coins in the tip cup, and lead them over to the fireplace.

"Yea I guess so, it is pretty late," Percy said. "See you later, dude," He added, shaking Harry's hand.

"See ya mate," Harry replied, stepping away as Percy threw some Floo powder into the fireplace.

"We'll meet you at Kings Cross Station so we can go together," Percy added. And with that, Percy and Sally jumped into the roaring flames, ready to return home.

Present

After Sally and Percy had gone back home with the Floo network, Harry had helped himself onto the train heading back to his home. Realizing that the ride back was going to take a few hours, Harry pulled out his new schoolbooks and started looking through them to pass the time.

"Which one do you think I should start with?" He said, holding up the books to his new owl. The owl ruffled her feathers and tapped her beak against the History of Magic book.

"Alright," Harry said. He opened the book to a random page and began to read. As he was reading the german magic section of the book, he came upon a particular word which he found very interesting.

"Hedwig," He said out loud. "That's an interesting name." His owl hooted and pointed a feathery wing towards the page.

"What? You like that name?" Harry asked. The owl nodded. "Ok! I'm naming you Hedwig," Harry added. Hedwig hooted happily as Harry ran his fingers through her soft white feathers.

Harry spent the rest of the train ride reading from his new textbooks. Finally, they arrived at the station, from where he took a cab. The cabbie dropped him off at the corner of Privet Drive, from where Harry walked up the door of his relatives' house.

"Oh boy," Harry thought. "Will they even take me in?" Harry steeled his nerves and walked up to the front door, gingerly pressing the small doorbell. Receiving no answer the first time, he rang it again.

Harry was about to leave when the door was finally opened. Uncle Vernon stood there, looking as though he had seen a ghost.

"Hello Uncle," Harry said, slightly nervously. To his surprise, he received no reply. Uncle Vernon simply grunted and walked back into the living room, leaving the door open. Harry took that as an invitation to come in, and walked into the home, lugging his trunk of school supplies into the hall behind him. He went up to his room and put the trunk on his bed, before walking back down the stairs and into the family room.

The second Dudley saw him, he leaped up with terror. "MOMMY," He screamed. "WHAT'S HE DOING HERE."

Aunt Petunia immediately jumped to his side, trying to calm him down. "Shh, there's no one there Dudley, don't worry," She whispered quietly.

Harry finally realized what was happening. They were both ignoring the fact that Harry was still around. "That explains why Uncle Vernon didn't even reply to me," Harry thought. "Well, that's nothing to complain about."

His attention was turned back to Dudley when he started crying, before jumping away from his mother. He ran upstairs and quickly locked himself into his room, with Petunia following behind him. As Dudley ran away, Harry got a good look at his behind and noticed with a start that Dudley's new pigtail, courtesy of Hagrid, was still there. He had to stop himself from smirking at it.

Harry was rather happy about this new predicament. This meant that he would finally have a peaceful stay here without having to worry about getting bullied. He wouldn't have to worry about being yelled at, or given chores to do or anything. It was perfect.

With that happy thought, Harry retreated to his room, tired and sleepy after spending the whole day shopping.

The next day

At the crack of dawn, Harry was woken up by the sound of something tapping on his window. He rubbed his eyes sleepily before putting on his glasses, then looked out the window. When he noticed who was doing the tapping, he was instantly wide awake.

"Hedwig," He gasped, opening the door for the small creature. Hedwig flew into the room, shivering, and landed on the perch by the bed. "What are you doing out so late?" Harry added. Hedwig hooted softly and pointed her beak towards the dead mouse she had dropped onto the floor as she flew in.

"Oh, you were looking for food huh?" Harry asked. Hedwig nodded. "Sorry, buddy," Harry said, looking up at the owl sheepishly. "I'll be sure to leave the window open before going to sleep next time." Hedwig gave another happy hoot, before starting to devour the mouse.

The sight made Harry realize he hadn't eaten anything in a while. His stomach rumbled at the same time, proving the point. Sadly he would have to wait for a few more hours before anyone woke up. He let out a sigh of resignation before falling back down onto the bed.

About an hour later, he heard the sound of footsteps heading into the kitchen. Not wanting to be the one to make breakfast, he decided to wait for a little while. When he was confident that Aunt petunia must have already finished cooking, he got up and walked downstairs into the kitchen, taking delight in the look of horror on Dudley's face as he walked inside.

"Good morning Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon. Mornin' Dudley," Harry called. As he expected, he received no reply from either of the other three occupants. "What's for breakfast?" He questioned, thinking that Aunt Petunia, though wordlessly, would at least pass a plate of food to him. To his surprise, she remained silent and unmoving.

He moved towards the stove and noticed that there was no breakfast. For a second he thought that they hadn't made food yet. Then he saw the dirty dishes in the sink, bits of scrambled egg on the table. and the biscuit in Uncle Vernon's pudgy hand.

Harry's heart sank. They weren't just ignoring him. They were pretending as though he wasn't there. This meant that they made breakfast only for the three of them too. Harry wordlessly grabbed a bowl from the counter, poured some cereal in it, and walked back to his room. "I'm sure they'll get over it and start talking soon," he thought. He had no idea how wrong he was about that statement.

August 31st - #4 Privet Drive

After that first day, Harry had thought that his Aunt and Uncle would come around, and would start talking to him again, but he was wrong. Their ignorance continued, and it soon started to annoy Harry.

Sure, he was happy that they no longer bothered him. He loved the look of fright on Dudley's face whenever they were in the same room, and he loved not having to do any of the chores he would normally be forced to do. He relished in the fact that the Dursleys no longer yelled or screamed at him. He liked the peace.

And yet, he hated the fact that he now had no one to talk to. He hated the feeling of being alone, with no one to talk to. No one except Hedwig that was. Saying as the Dursleys spent most of their time pretending as though Harry didn't exist, his only source of companionship had been his owl.

Another thing that annoyed Harry was that they no longer did anything for him. He had to get his own breakfast every day, clean his own room, wash his own clothes, and so on. Well...maybe it was better that he had to clean his own room. Hedwig would fly off numerous times a day, coming back with dead rats or other small animals, making quite the mess of his carpet each night. Harry was sure the Dursleys would have a stroke if they ever saw what had become of their carpet.

Hedwig. She had quickly become Harry's only source of conversation. Harry would spend all day in his room, with no one but Hedwig for company. They had quickly grown close, and Harry would spend all day talking to her, wishing that he could understand what she was saying back to him. Each night, Harry would open the window for Hedwig to fly back in, cross off another day from his countdown and go to sleep.

All of this continued until today. It was August 31st, the day before Harry would board the train that would take him to his new school. Realizing that he had no way of getting to the station, he thought that he'd better speak to his aunt and uncle about it. He knew it was a long shot, saying as they had been ignoring him for the whole month, but it was the only chance he had.

And so, Harry went downstairs to the living room where the three Dursleys were busy watching the game on the television. He cleared his throat to let them know he was there. Dudley, as usual, screamed and ran from the room, while Petunia and Vernon pretended not to notice.

"Uncle Vernon?" Harry asked, hoping that he would get a reply for once. To his surprise, Uncle Vernon turned and looked at him, before grunting. More than he had done for the last whole month. That told harry that he was listening. "I umm... I need to be at King's Cross Station...tomorrow morning...to..to go to...Hogwarts.." Harry said slowly.

Uncle Vernon grunted again.

"Would you...maybe...give me a lift..to the station..?" Harry asked, fingers crossed behind his back.

Another grunt from his uncle. "Thank you," Harry said, assuming that the grunt meant a yes.

He turned around and was about to head back upstairs to the solitude of his room when his uncle actually spoke. "Funny way to get to a wizards' school, the train. Magic carpets all got punctures, have they?" He asked. Harry didn't answer, hardly believing that his uncle had talked to him after so long. "Where is this school anyway?" Vernon questioned.

With a start, Harry realized that no one had ever told him the location of Hogwarts. "I don't know," He answered honestly. "All I was told by Hagrid was that I need to take a train from Kings Cross station and it'll take me where I need to go."

"What about your ticket, boy?" Vernon asked.

"It's right here," Harry said, pulling it out of his pocket.

"Bothered to think about the fact that it may have the location?" Vernon grunted.

Harry looked over the ticket. "It doesn't say," He answered.

"Whatever," Uncle Vernon said. "Be back here tomorrow morning. We'll drop you off while we go to London."

Harry was slightly surprised. With Dudley's pig's tail, he was in no shape to be taken on a trip. "Why are you going to London?" He asked, trying to make sure he sounded as friendly as he could.

Uncle Vernon's eyes darkened slightly. "Gotta have that ruddy tail of Dudley's removed, don't I?" he asked. "We're going to go to the best hospital in London before he starts Smeltings."

"Oh right..." Harry said. "Anyway. Thank you..."

Uncle Vernon merely grunted and shooed him off, and Harry returned to his room, happy that he would get to go to Hogwarts after all.

August 31st - Jackson Residence

"MOM!" Percy screamed, bounding out of his room and into the kitchen.

"Percy, what happened?" Sally Jackson questioned.

"TOMORROW'S THE DAY!" Percy yelled, waving his hands wildly in the air. "I'll finally get to go to school and learn magic and be a super powerful wizard."

"Percy, calm down," Sally added, as Percy almost knocked the plate of waffles of the counter.

"Sorry mom," Percy said, finally bringing his excited hand waving to a stop. "I'm just so excited though," He added. "I can't wait to see Harry again either."

"Don't worry, you'll see him soon," Sally promised. "Wanna know a secret?"

"Sure!" Percy squealed.

"Dumbledore linked the Dursleys home to the Floo network without them knowing," Sally said with a mischievous smile. "We're gonna Floo ourselves over there tomorrow morning."

"Does that mean we can go to the station together?" Percy asked, his eyes wide with glee.

"Of course. I imagine his Aunt and Uncle must have refused to take him anyway," Sally replied. "And I'm sure he would love to see you again as well."

"Awesome!" Percy exclaimed. Sally smiled and set to work making a plate for him as he took a seat at the dining table. "Thanks, mom, You're the best," he added, as his mom set a plate of blueberry waffles and a tall glass of milk in front of him.

Percy was about to dig in when his mom stopped him. "Hey, you should go feed your cat first," She said.

"Oh right!" Percy said. He grabbed the bowl of cat food and rushed off to his room, where the cat was lying lazily on the bed. "Hey, you hungry?" Percy asked. The cat meowed in response, licking her lips. "Here you go," Percy said, setting the bowl down at the foot of the bed. The second the bowl of food was on the floor, she jumped off the bed and dove right into the bowl. Percy smiled. When it came to eating, he and his cat had the same habits. "Eat as much as you want," Percy said, smiling down at the cat, before heading back out into the kitchen.

"Did you feed her?" Sally asked.

"You should have seen the way she tackled the food," Percy said.

"I swear, she's a Percy Junior," sally said.

"What! Mom, I don't eat like that," Percy said. His mother just raised an eyebrow. "Ok maybe I do," Percy admitted. "But only sometimes," He added indignantly.

"Yea, only for breakfast, lunch, and dinner," Sally said. Percy blushed. "It's been a month. You still haven't thought of a name?"

"I don't know," Percy said sighing. "I want something related to the ocean though," He added. "I'll figure it out eventually."

"Make it soon," Sally said. "Having to call her "Percy's Cat" Is getting really old."

"Sorry, mom!" Percy said. "Anyway, I should go get my stuff packed." With that, Percy shoveled down the rest of his breakfast and retreated back into his room.

In about an hour, Percy was done with his packing. His textbooks had been placed on top of each other neatly in one corner of the trunk. Another corner housed a small box with his beginner's potions material, with his cauldron next to that. Once he had placed his robes and the rest of his belongings, Percy closed the trunk and set it off to the side, smiling. He was all set to go to Hogwarts now!

Author's Note:

I don't know if it was obvious but I kind of haven't thought of a name yet for Percy's cat. I got a lot of good suggestions such as:

Zoe - a character from PJO, daughter of Pleione

Avisa - means water I think

Aerwyna - means friend of the sea

But I still haven't made a decision, so if anyone has any other suggestions, lemme know.

Anyway, thanks for reading! Remember to vote/fav/follow and review/comment!

And please write that birthday note!

Thanks! byeeeee!
